Gmail crashes on iPad

Today, when I tried to open Gmail on my iPad, it closes immediately. It will not stay open. Need help on what I can do!

Switching to the built-in email app is not a viable solution for me. I use Gmail exclusively for my personal email and I like the Gmail app very much. But since the update to iOS7, it crashes on my iPad 2, just as described in the original message in this thread.
My iPhone 5 also has the Gmail app and iOS7, but I have not had any crashing problems on the phone.
I've searched Google's support forums and as of yesterday couldn't find any help on this topic. Has anyone heard about a pending update to the Gmail app that might fix this, or if it's a known bug in iOS7 on iPad?

There may be a thread for this, but I can't find it right now.......so anyway here's the problem I have been experiencing with my iPad since the beginning with Gmail. Wondering if anyone else has this problem.
I set up my Gmail account in Settings using the Gmail setup tab, no problem there, easy and quick. Gmail on the iPad is received and sent without any problems, but when reading my Gmail and trying to open another earlier Gmail / Mail crashes back to the desktop. It does this pretty much every time. I can't scroll through Gmail messages without Mail crashing. My other email accounts, all .mac or .me email accounts are fine, I don't get the same crashing problem at all........only happens with Gmail.
When this happens "on the road" I have to go to my iPhone 4 to read/scroll through my Gmails. This problem doesn't occur on the iPhone.
Is there a setting here that I am missing?

Thanks David, I had read of that before posting my question, and tried deleting all mail in all areas of my Gmail account on the web and on the iPad, but it made no difference. All new mail coming in behaves the same way. I even deleted the Gmail account a couple of times on the iPad then re-installed, same problem still occurs. I agree with you that it is most likely a unique iPad event/problem, but solving it is proving elusive.

I meant by "not compatible" that all the solutions that I found on the web did not work, especially the "Microsoft exchange" one.
Fortunately I found on the comments of the first website you mentioned the right answer for me, which I copy below:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
Additional Information
Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.
If you are using application based special password go to https://accounts.google.com/Se... and instead of your password put that special code and u r done.

Frequent crash on iPad 1

As advised in many forum thread, I had it set to factory default and without any content or app, it's still crashing.
I am feeling frustrated.
Should I downgrade it from 5.1.1 to original iOS?
I don't care if I don't get to use iCloud for i want this stupid to stop crashing on me.
With original iOS it never used to crash.
With new iOS release, apple made it worse rather then making it any better.
Now, I don't know how to downgrade it as I don't have original backup.
Do you think at genius bar they can downgrade it?

Same CRASHING issues :( iPad model 1,1 - OS version 5.0.1 (9A405). Diagnostics & Usage Data plists NUMEROUS Low Memory (which i clearly do not understand LOW Memory since there is 61GB's free memory remaining on my iPad). Safari crashes daily but not as frequently as ONE particular 3rd party app (www.Breaktimestudios.com - Pocket Potions). I have submitted an issue report to Break Time Studios and they have contacted me requesting crash/plist reports - which I have submitted to their technical department but still no resolution from even their techs. The only offering from one of their techs is "connection glitches"... Ya right!! (HaHa) I really wished that Apple thru their iTunes Sync could have a Run Diagnostics Test option to check for even hardware issues & options that could resolve issues or offer suggestions if there happened to be a App/Software issue.

That is not an Apple or OS X issue, I'd suggest contacting the modem manufacturer to see what the issue might be.

We've created a publication which is working good on iPad 2 but I am having many crashes on iPad 1. There is no HTML code, but there are many animation and interactivity. Is there anyone else that has this experience between iPad 1 and 2?

Yes, this is quite common. This is memory issue - iPad 1 have 256 MB of memory, iPad 2 512 MB. We saw this with big pan&zoom images, for example.

Attachments in gmail app on iPad

I've tried using the new app for gmail on my ipad - it has a white envelope edged in red: sorry, I don't even know how to describe it technically, but I think it's the Google app not the Apple app. Anyway, I hated it so ditched it and started using once again the Apple app for Google installed on the ipad (white envelope on blue cloud). Sorry, you said Gmail. If that's the case, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

The only one that can issue a PUK code is a carrier, which you've already made clear you don't have.
If itunes does not recognise your ipad that may be another issue. What version OS is on your computer and what steps did you follow to uninstall itunes and then reiinstall itunes on your computer?
And, do you at least see the sidebar on the left hand side of itunes?

Lost gmail account on ipad

Had a normally functioning gmail account on iPad which no longer works. Keeps telling me email account name or password is incorrect, but it's the same one I use on iMac and iPhone. Tried deleting and recreating account, to no avail. Help!

Lightroom mobile crash on ipad when synchronization starts. I had this problem a few months ago, I reinstalled LR.
I find it annoying to arrive with a working client presentation that crash, it does not serous at all!

Crash on iPad 3 & 4 + ios7 with AIR 4

I've tested my app (AIR w/GPU render mode) succesfully on iPad mini 2 and a Nexus 7 2012, but since I have released a 2nd version to the app store, I had reports of crash after assets are rendered to bitmaps (my app display a "rendering assets x/5" on startup). It may be since the first release a week sooner but I had no report from users. So I naturally assumed that this was a memory problem and I reduced memory usage considerably.
But apparently it was not the case, after all I was only using 60MB according to scout... My app still crash on some iPad 3/4, I say some because it maybe inconsistant since Apple reviewers approved the newer version, even after I request an expedited review mentioning the crash on iPad 3/4. I'm totally lost here ! I thought about using the last SDK (13), but it doesn't work with flash pro CC; test / debug crash if it even start (failed launch), exactly like when I try to test / debug in the mobile AIR debug launcher. Please someone help !

I am trying to find the cause of a problem that sounds very similar. It is an instant crash where the whole game suddenly exits, and it only happens with a release build. The problem can be reproduced 100% reliably on iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad air, but it does not occur on iPhone 4, iPod 4, and iPad 1.
I set up a lot of logging code to try and pinpoint the location of the crash, by sending the log messages to a webserver. Unfortunately, due to the ridiculous design of forced asynchronous web requests, the log messages arrive in messed up order, making that approach a failure.
My next approach was to use a global error handler, and this works great when I force an intentional crash (eg. var abc:Array = null; abc[123];) but the error handler is never triggered by the real crash I am looking for. wtf?
What are other methods for diagnosing problems in release builds that I might be missing?

There is no problem with Gmail and iPad; I use it all the time.
Check to make sure that you have entered the correct information in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars for your Gmail account.
