Gmail freezing... slow script error

When I tried to log into my gmail around 7am this morning (1/7) my screen froze, I rec'd an error msg saying there was a slow scrip, it gave me the option to hit stop or continue. After attempting both, I ended up force quitting since neither options worked & my gmail was frozen. After emptying my cache, resetting Safari, deleting my history and restarting, my gmail account is still freezing. I'm not sure what else to do. Is anyone experiencing this?
I have a MacBook pro, snow leopard 10.6.2 operating system, Safari 4.0.4.

I am having the same problem and it seems from everyone that has posted on here I have been having the problem the longest (since Tuesday 1-5-10).
I can still access my email using my iPhone, but have had to force quit Safari everytime I have tried to log into my personal gmail account using my computer. I also have a school email account that is run by gmail and have had no trouble logging into that account. Interestingly enough this email account does not have chat capabilities, I believe because it is a school email account it has never had the option.
I believe that this problem is an issue on random gmail accounts, and am not sure if it is just Mac/Safari users, or if this problem could be happening to some PC users also. Has anyone happened to search any forums for anything other than just Mac/Safari users? I plan on looking into that next.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Also, has anyone tried to contact gmail and received any response?

  • Why do I keep getting this "Slow Script" error?

Everytime I go to a certain website Safari freezes for about 15 seconds and then displays this odd looking "Slow Script" error message and it says Safari is not responding and asks if I want to continue or cancel. If I continue the webpage runs slowly and may do it if I'm on the page for too long but it still lets me surf it without too much troble. If I cancel the page is frozen and I cannot continue but I can visit another website and continue using Safari normally. Is there any way I can stop these nuisances from popping up and affecting my web surfing? Have you encountered this problem before?

"Slow Scripts" are just that. Slow to load javascript files.
Why they are slow to load is something only the authors of the scripts can determine.

I have no trouble with the URL above. I have a "high speed" connection.
You can use the Safari Activity window to view the page elements. You'll see the URL and file size and a note (in red) about the slow script message.

  • Safari - Slow Script Error (10.5.1)

I've been getting a slow script error while surfing a website's forum, this is what it says,
"A script on the page "IGN Boards - Choose A Board" (http://boards.ign.com/) is making Safari unresponsive. Do you want to continue running the script, or stop it?"
I've tried resetting Safari, resetting the computer, repairing permissions... none of the usual things are working. Anyone got any ideas? It's quite an annoying problem.

  • Slow Script Error

I recently purchased an Air for my business travel. I am getting a "Slow Script" pop-up when I try to enter my time card in my company's Microsoft Exchange web site.
(A script on the page "TESite PSA - [xxxxxxx] Gxxx Mxxxxxxx" (https://timeos.northgrum.com/tesite/) is making Safari unresponsive. Do you want to continue running the script, or stop it?)
When I try to continue or stop, the pop-up re-appears over and over again. My only recourse is to force Safari to (Force Quit). The page appears to be complete but this error is terminal.

    Did you try this?

  • Firefox Freezes with Script Error

Firefox keeps freeing/hanging. First you will see the errors that pop up for me. Then the troubleshooting I have done to solve this problem.
    Script Error:

For troubleshooting I have tried the following:
disable addon's and restart in safe mode (did not help)
disable theme and restart in safe mode (did not help)
    reset firefox (did not help)
uninstalled Firefox & removed all traces of browser from my computer (yes even the registry was removed)
-------------- after doing the above I still had all my previous settings. I used IE to download a fresh copy and tired again. Still have all my settings, plugin's, tabs, and unremoved cookies and a little history
I am not tech savvy but the script errors made me think of Javascript. I went to about:config and searched for Java when javascript.enabled showed up I disabled and the problem has disappeared.
I know I need this javascript enabled. I cannot do much of anything at my site with is disabled.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this script hanging problem.
    Thanks for any help.

I reinstalled, Adobe Flash updated and problem fixed.
Fred if I could I would send you homemade bread, cookies, fudge, most anything you want.
Thank you for taking the time to help me fix this problem.

  • Why "slow script" message pops up ?

Everytime i try to open any new page on safari, this message pops up stating slow script error>>>>>with option to stop or continue!!

    Hi,
Only with a later version of OSX that allows a later version of JavaScript.

  • Frequent Unresponsive script error chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:32 w/ Firefox frozen

    I FREQUENTLY get a
    Unresponsive Script:
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:32
after Firefox became frozen for about 20+ minutes. I tried disabling addons and Firefox safe mode, STILL get this error quite a bit

Do you see any connection between pages that generate this error and the use of the Flash plugin? Incompatibility with the Protected Mode feature of the Flash plugin is one possible cause for slow script errors (on pages that use Flash).
The Protected Mode feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078 (alternate version of Carm's batch file with a few changes by me: [https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=f7d304d92388737d&id=F7D304D92388737D!336&ithint=file,.bat&authkey=!AP2FXW2Y_3BXZyo])
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

  • Slow script....

"Slow Script - A script on the page _______ is making Safari unresponsive. Do you want to continue running the script, or stop it?"
    Safari Version 3.0.3
I keep getting this same "error message" but the video that I'm watching is loading and displaying fine until I get the above message. I then have to click 'continue' to keep on watching. This happens about once a couple of minutes or so.
    My VCR didn't know about the time change being delayed a week so it missed taping all of my shows by an hour each this past week. So now I'm watching the episodes online to catch up. {No.....I do not have TiVo....yet}
Any suggestions as to how to eliminate the above unneeded error message?
I'm going to try viewing the rest of my catching-up episodes in FireFox since Safari is not cooperating.
    Thanks!
Watching my show now on Firefox and no "slow script" error whatsoever. So what's up with Safari??

    Hi
This error prompt is easily remedied, however, you'll need to access the Safari Debug Menu to do so. If the Debug Menu is activated, click on it in the Menu Bar and uncheck "enable runaway JavaScript timer. That ought to solve this problem.
If the Debug menu is not activated, follow these instructions:
    Quit Safari
Open Terminal.app in your Utilities folder,
When the Terminal window opens, copy & paste the following command into the window:
    defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
Click on the return key, you may be prompted for an admin password. If so, enter it.
    Press "return".
When you see your Mac's name, it's done,
    Quit Terminal
Restart Safari and go to the Debug Menu, following the suggestion above.

  • Iphoto gallery getting slow java script errors and freezing up system

Iphoto 08 freezing up system and causing slow java errors other users can't get pages to load fast enough, even with high speed connections anyone know what's going on???

    Shawn:
I'm surprised you were able to even install it since the system requirements are 10.4.9 or later and Quicktime 7.2. If you were abel to install that may be the reason you're having problems.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Firefox is slow to open and close. I get a "script error" that says it may be caused by a recently opened tab. What do I do to correct this problem. It is wreaking havoc when trying to open/close or move around the internet.

I am getting a "script error" when I close out the internet, specifically Firefox. My backup internet explorer does not do this. This is slowing down the process of opening/closing Firefox. When I open Mozilla, I get "restore session" even though I have closed everything down. I have "removed program" and re-downloaded Mozilla 3 times and still this problem persists. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

-> Update All your Firefox Plugins

  • Very Slow and Script Errors

Contribute 6.5 is very slow to publish new content to our site www.mrii.ie, even bringing up a page for editing is slow. So far I have:
Tested the the FTP settings using passive and active connections.
Using an external FTP program, downloading from the site is very quick 2. I checked all the file permissions on the server and they are correct. In fact Contribute will publish the changes eventually, just very slowly prior to the actual upload which seems pretty quick.
I also used a plain page with a small amount of text and again the pre-processing seems slow.
I removed the temporary sites and configuration folders and still no change.
    I created a new connection.
As an aside, how do I disable script errors in the Contribute browser window?

OK, found it.  This fixed my performance issue.

  • Tons of Script Errors and Slow Redraw

I recently setup CS 5.5 with Bridge 4.1.0.54 on a new MacBook Pro.
When I launch Bridge I get the following messages:
I'm confident of a few things. First, it's obviously somewhat related to this issue:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3083307
Second, it has nothing to do with CFS or Samba shares.
Lastly, the error has something to do with the output module script- if I startup without it on, no errors.
Currently I have my MBP setup with two drives. A SSD for the system software and a second SATA drive for content. All my system software is on the SSD boot drive, however, my users folder is split between the two. Everything but ~/users/xxx/library is symbolicly linked on the second drive.
If you look closely at the thread referenced above, all the errors are the same except for the "could not create" error. In the thread, it lists a specific user, my error lists Volumes/Null/...
Here is what I've tried so far:
    Reset the app
    Trashed the prefs
    Started up w/o scripts
reinstalled the entire CS 5.5 Suite after Uninstalling and using the cleaner tool
To add insult to injury, When the output script is off and bridge does load, it does it painfully slow to the point where it is not usalbe. It is also having a ton of redraw issues.
    Any advice?

I think I may have found a workaround.
I've been racking my brain over the past few days to figure this one out. I've tried at least a dozen permsissions fixes, both through the apple utility and manually. I've reinstalled both bridge and CS 5.5 three times using the cleaner script and a fresh install. NOTHING.
So I went back to the original error message:
One thing I noticed was that everytime Bridge was starting, it created a folder in /volumes called "null". I checked three other macs setup the same was as mine and NONE of them created this folder during bridge startup.
I still have not figured out why my laptop is doing this.
However, I looked at the error and it seemed that bridge was looking for a path that didn't exists, which was /volumes/null/Adobe/Adobe Bridge CS5.1/Adobe Output Module/Mediagallery
the path Adobe/Adobe Bridge CS5.1/... is the same path as my ~/library/application support/... folder for adobe.
First I created a regular alias to that folder to create the fake path. No dice. Then I tried a symlink to creat the fake path /volumes/null/Adobe/Adobe Bridge CS5.1/Adobe Output Module/Mediagallery
Voila. Worked like a charm. I can now start up Bridge without any errors, script errors, etc. I also have all the functionality of my Output panel back and I'm able to use it without getting the insufficiant disk space error.
Now to figure out why Bridge is creating a "Null" folder.
