Gmail from apps account jsut wont configure on my iphone 3g

hi all, with google not supporting apps email anymore with email support i am completely lost.
My email for my domain is set up through google apps... meaning i get to use my own domain email address through google mail, now i have enabled my imap email withint the account, followed all googles instructions to setting it up on my iphone, and it wont recognise the ssl server and says that the imap.gmail.com server is not responding, i have tried to set it up as a gmail account and as an 'other' account as recommended by google. I cant get onto the google discussion forums as its coming up in russian for me for some unknown reason, but i am at a loose end, i need this email account on my phone!

Hi -- all your questions are answered with a search of the forums, but to summarize:
1) Yes, it can display (but not edit) Pdf's and all documents from MS Office as well as Apple iWork -- there is no sync conduit for files right now, so you have to e-mail them toyourself, then open the eMail to view the attachment
2) iPhone does not support most video formats at this time. There is nothing you can download to fix that. IT also does not support Adobe Flash.
3) You can create a playlist and drag just the songs you want into that playlist, then sync only that playlist.
4) Just redownload them from your account on iTunes
5) If you add photos to your contacts from your desktop then sync, you get the small thumbnails. If you add photos to your contacts ON the iPhone, you get full-size photos. Most people prefer the thumbnails because the writing on the phone covers up most of the picture if you are in full picture mode -- but that is totally up to you.

I can move emails to Yahoo! and Gmail from other accounts, but not vice versa. Why?

Here's a test email that I'll try to move from one account ("Nathan Paul") to another (Yahoo!) in my iPhone Mail app:
Let's move it to a different folder...
And tap "Account" in the upper left to move it to a different account:
You can see that my options are 1) the account of origin, 2) Yahoo!, and 3) Gmail.
Now, let's try this with a test message sent to my Yahoo! account:
Move to a different folder...
And try to move to a different account...
Now my only options are Yahoo! and Gmail.
It's the same way when I try to move an email from any account to any other account. My only options, other than the account that received the email, are Yahoo! and Gmail. Why is this?

Okay, for two of the accounts (Master's and Nathan Paul), it says "Exchange." For the rest, it just says the name of the account.

I don't see anything about IMAP, POP, or Exchange in any settings for any accounts, other than the "Exchange" label on the Master's and Nathan Paul accounts.

How to withdraw Gmail from iCloud account?

When I first created my Apple ID, I didn’t know anything about iCloud, so I entered my Gmail ([email protected]) as my primary mail.
After this creation Apple gave me iCloud mail ([email protected]/[email protected]) which now I want to use as my primary mail and forget about Gmail forever.
Problem is: I can’t remove Gmail from my Apple ID and use iCloud mail instead, using appleid.apple.com. I’m getting message that I couldn’t "use a domain owned by Apple".
My goal is to withdraw Gmail from my Apple ecosystem and use in it only iCloud mail as primary mail for everything: for login, for getting messages and notifications from Apple, everything.
Who can help me with that?
P. S. The main reason is that I want receive important emails from Apple on my iCloud mail, not my Gmail, because I barely check my Gmail and almost forgot about its existence.
So if there is a way to make Apple send notifications not for primary email but for alternate—it would kinda solve my problem.

if you could offer any assistance i would much appreciate it, I an using OS X 10.3.9 on my iBook G4 it has always worked perfect til now, when using the email program i have two accounts servers that i pull mail off of the last two weeks when pulling mail off the servers if i have any mail on one of the servers the email system crash's. I have zap the server many times thinking it was a bad email that it cant pull off but that is not the problem... I know it isnt my server because i can use other MS email clients and they work perfectly... but as we al know a true apple user needs to keep away from those MS programs... i hope what i typed made sense and if anyone can help i will be very grateful... thank you

Remote app for iPad Wont show songs but iPhone Will

I have a Strange problem with airport Express and airtunes
From my iPad 4.2.1 running Remote app for iPad if i search for an artist, like Gary Moore, it shows the artist name, but when i Press the name it doesnt display the songs with this artist, it says no songs found.
But if i use the same app on both my iPhone 4 and my iPod touch, and do the same search and Press the artist name, it shows All the songs that i have with this artist
Both the iPad and the iPhone connects to the same airtunes library, on the same machine with iTunes 10.1?
Does anybody have any ideas of what is wrong
I have tried to reinstall the app on the iPad, but that diednt work, i have tried to delete the library on the iPad with no luck

I know this is an old question, but I had the same problem and found the solution somewhere else and thought I'd post it here as this thread comes up when googling for the answer.
It appears as though any songs without an "Album" don't appear. In iTunes select all songs without an album, right click and select "Get Info" and give them an Album name (e.g. "Unknown" or "Singles"). This might also apply to songs without other tags.

Hacking of e-mail account (yahoo and gmail) while both are configured to my iPhone?

Yesterday the 8th of October, 2012 at about 2.45 pm IST (Indian Standard Time) both my e-mail accounts which are configured to the iPhone were hacked. The hacker not only sent some ridiculous mail from the account asking my contacts to send money through Western Union Money Transfer, but deleted my last 3 months sent mails, inbox and the entire contacts.
They also added a new mail to my alternative mails. Upon approaching the cyber crime department it was given to understand that these criminals had used a IP address from Nigeria, Africa.

That depends on what you mean. If you mean two iTunes Store accounts, no. Only one Apple ID can be logged into the iTunes Store at a time and if automatic download, iTunes Match or re-downloading of content is used the ID can not be changed for 90 days.

If you previously had been using the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases for both of you there is no reason to change what you've been doing. If this is your wife's first iPhone, and you want to share the iTunes Store account just don't use the new Apple ID you created. As long as there are no purchases on it there's nothing to worry about.

Transfer iPhone Apps from One Account to Another

What you would do is on computer authorize other account for that computer. So you computer is authorized to play both accounts. Then you can sync apps from both accounts to your phone using the same computer as before.
My wife and I both have our own accounts and each of our instances of iTunes have authorized each others accounts for that computer. So I can sync her apps and she can sync mine. Just becomes a pain when you update an app via the cell phone when updates come out as trying to do all at once usually fails if the apps for updating are for each account. So have to do one at a time or just have them update via iTunes and sync.

in that sending an email with this preference set, tends to be almost random?:
You can send email to a person you have emailed a hundred times, but if you don't double-check the source account - and it may go from the WRONG account. It wasn't the SELECTED account, it may not even be a
much used account (email address).
You can fire 2 emails back-to-back, to 2 different destinations, and the 2nd seems to have arbitrarily
selected another account to send from.
This is more than a little bit galling, if you intend to email certain people ONLY from a special account.
Say, for example, people who indulge in viral emails, etc.
Eventually half your contacts have half your email addresses - and now you are in spam **** again,
as soon as one of your recipients sends one of these viral emails out in a group email.

I've submit this as a problem in the "reply" to Apple.
If others are finding it a problem, I hope they do too.
Here are some scenarios that underscore it.
Having the ability to set a default FROM address in MAIL to a given destination is fairly important.
Especially when you are trusting your machine to automate the correct event.
If you have multiple email addresses, one has them for a reason.
You send from only certain ones - to certain people, for a reason:
For example, contacting a subordinate or boss at work, from your home account.
I have found the said contacted colleague will sometimes send work communication to my home account by mistake.
Instead of getting a last minute meeting notice while at work, it goes to a home account I don't pick up very often.
Or, if sent from an account one picks up on their iPhone... Now I get long messages that I would prefer not receiving on that device. Simply because the wrong SEND account was used, but not actually CHOSEN by me. (We all have those relatives, don't we?)
Once an address is "compromised" by inadvertently sending from the wrong address:
well, you accounts are free of spam only so long as your contacts are secure.
You are only as good as your least capable correspondent & spam filter.

Emails vanish from .mac account when deleting them from iphone!

The problem we are having is that on my wifes minimac when she deletes emails on her iphone they vanish from her desktop .mac mail programme.. not good!
But.... my email on my G5 .mac mail programme account is set to .Mac IMAP and my emails that come into my iphone dont get deleted from my desktop .mac mail programme.
How can i set up her account to not delete the mails from her minimac mail account?
Her email is an additional account - whereas my account is the master account!

If you are accessing the account as an IMAP account with the email client on your computer as well as with the iPhone's email client, all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized automatically between the email clients used to access the account. This cannot be changed. If you delete a message from the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's email client, the message will no longer be available in the account's Inbox mailbox when checking the account with your computer's email client and vice-versa.
This is the nature of an IMAP account which cannot be changed.
If this is not the same for your account, this indicates you are accessing the account as a POP account with one or both email clients used to access the account.

Mail downloaded from POP account in Gmail appears in Sent mail

I have configured Gmail to download mail from two other POP accounts. I use Mail.app in OS X with IMAP to access my Gmail. I've noticed that when I receive a message from one of my POP accounts, it appears in my inbox but also as an unread message in my Sent mail folder. Why? Is there anything I can do to change this behavior?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Gmail account is set-up as IMAP. But it does download POP email from other accounts. It's a nice feature and one of the main reasons I just use Gmail now for all email.
I know I could just ignore the issue, but it bothers me to have unread messages in the Sent mailbox. Clutters up the interface.
