Gmail imap very slow in WiFi/EDGE

I have two IMAP accounts on my iPhone: one for my school account, one for my gmail account. When I check for new mail in my school account, it takes 1-2 seconds. Checking for new mail in the gmail account sometimes takes 30 - 60 seconds. However, when I check mail right after that happens, it's done in 1-2 seconds.
It happens on both WiFi and EDGE.
Any thoughts?

That happened once to me and I got rid of that by going to setting - airplane mode -ON, wait 30 seconds, turn it off and retry... it will reset both your wifi and edge connections

Lumia 920 Facebook connection very slow over WiFi ...

Since the Portico update the connection to Facebook both in the People and Me hub as well as in the Facebook app is very slow over WiFi, whilst still good over 4G/LTE (with WiFi off). The connection to the Nokia account also appears to have a similar problem. All other accounts and apps have good speed over both cellular and WiFi connections.
Any ideas anybody?
PS: FYI, a bit more info about the history and context: When I noticed the problem the first time after the update, I tried to solve it by deleting and re-adding my Facebook account on the phone. Unfortunately, that made me lose my Me hub tile, so I decided to do a full reset. That again unfortunately got stuck on the togg wheels, so I restored the phone using Nokia Care Suite with the latest firmware, and restored my accounts, apps and settings from scratch. Everythings seems to work fine now, except the above mentioned Facebook and Nokia account connectivity problem.

Did you somehow solve this problem?
I have the same issue here with my Lumia 920.
However I have already found out that it only applies to my home Wifi. All other Wifi networks i was connecting to did work flawlesly.
I need to note that all other devices on my home network are using facebook without a glitch. Only Lumia has some problems with it.

Very slow internet (Wifi) on my mac mini late 2012

Hey, I have recently experienced very slow internet (Wifi) on my mac mini late 2012. On other mac's and computers the internet is working well. I cannot change the channel of the router (what I found out to be the only solution here), because I live in dormitory. Should I try to restore OS? What would be other possibilities? Is it OS or mac mini issue?

If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.

Very slow/stalling wifi connection on iMac

I recently purchased the iMac 21.5" Core i3 3.06GHz- I was quite exited about my new computer as I've been thinking about switching to Mac for a couple of months. I was amazed with the software compared to Windows, but so far I'm very dissapointed with the wifi connection.
I connect to a router which is two floors down in the same apartment building (we have an agreement to share the connection with my neighbors)- D-link router using WEP- authentication. On the same spot where I placed my iMac, I regularly get 2-3 out of 5 bars and speeds of approx. 250 kb/s with my corporate Windows7 lenovo PC. However, the iMac wifi connection is very slow- I'm not sure of the exact speed, as the connection is very unstable- sometimes webpages load quickly, but sometimes a simple web-page takes forever. The key issue is downloading files- when downloading a file, the speed starts at 250- 300 kb/s at first, then quickly drops to approx. 50 kb/s, a then usually stalls and the download is rarely finished.
I have tried browsing apple support for help, and found advice to adjust MTU in AirPort settings, and I experimented with various DNS, but niether of these seems to help, my web-browsing and page loading times seem to have improved, but downloading files is still almost impossible. The problem si very frustrating, since I get reliable speed and connection on my lenovo PC on the very same spot as the iMac.
Based on reading internet discussions on this topic this seems to be a rather wide-spread problem with the iMac, and I'm wondering if anyone here has a similar experience and any suggestions for a solution? Can it be an issue with the aluminium body which has poorer reception, and I simply need to move my desk to different location in the apartment?

The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.

Very slow Ethernet & WIFI transfer speeds - MC340X/A

Hi.
I recently purchased an Airport Extreme model no. MC340X/A being used as an isolated standalone network with 3 gigabit ethernet clients and a couple of n WIFI clients, and no other base station or Hub/Switch in the network.
One of the problems I have is that I'm experiencing very slow network transfers between both ethernet clients and wifi clients of any combination. The maximum transfer rate I can achieve between ethernet to ethernet, WIFI to WIFI, or WIFI to ethernet clients connected to the MC340X/A is 2.5 MBytes / second, on both 2.4 and 5gig bands using n capable WIFI cards and gigabit ethernet cards.
I have performed a hard reset of the device with no improvement.
The firmware is version 7.5 and it appears there is no older firmware to revert back to for this model.
I have an older Airport Extreme n Gigabit model which achieves 7 to 12 MBytes / Second transfers over WIFI and at least 20MBytes / Second over ethernet to ethernet using the same clients, in exactly the same location etc.
Do I have a faulty unit and does it need to be returned? It is only 2 days old and want to sort it out within my 7 day return policy.

Sorry folks, I seem to have worked it out.
I found on another thread that saving the setup info as a profile and re-loading the saved profile has helped some people. This appears to have cured the slow transfers for me so far.

IPhone 5s is very slow without wifi

I Just got a brand new iPhone 5s with a four gigabyte plan. I share it with one other user. Well even since the first day I got it if I leave out the house my iphone is very slow. It only works fast with wifi one. I don't have many apps on it. I don't have any song on it yet. I tries reseting network. I tried hard reset. Yes I do have LTE 4G.
Is this a Verizon issue. I did notice that I only have two bars or circles at the top where I'm at right now. Maybe it's where I am? I'm not sure help.

I forgot to add it takes like 30 seconds to load one web page. Also apps like Instagram, kik, YouTube is very slow too.

Firefox 5 if installed, gmail becomes very slow. Why?

I was installed fire fox 5. But my G mail was running very slow. Also browsing speed was slower down. so again i installed the previous version of fire fox. Why fire fox 5 is not running with Google search engine?

Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker.

Iphone very slow on wifi, computers are fast.

My internet at home has a download speed of 4megs, but my iphone 4 only connects at .5 or slower. Both my imac and windows laptop connect to the same wifi and have no issues. Also, I believe this is a fairly new problem.

I second this... everything was working fine on my home wifi. I had a iphone 4 and a 3g running without issue. Then I upgraded my wife's 3g to a 4 and now the wifi is slower than cellular data. for a while i couldn't even get on my wifi, after manually setting the wifi settings i was able but alot of apps just hang.
thoughts anyone?

We have a very small office with no more than 10/15 users at a time. Our ISP provided speed is 7down and 3up.
We have deployed an ASA5505 in our network, and our very simple topology looks like:
Cable Modem > ASA5505 ------- AP1262 (via PoE port on ASA)

When users connect to the AP, they are getting the normal browsing speeds as mentioned above.
However, all the hardwired users' download speed is less than 1mb (their upload is normal).
(Note that when we deploy the old Linksys router back in-place of the ASA, everything seems back to normal. Its only with the ASA we are experiencing this).

Any advice/guidance is highly appreciated on how to resolve the speeds for our hardwire users.

Incoming Gmail is Very Slow

I'm having an unusual problem with gmail. I am NOT a gmail user, I host my own mail on an Xserve running Snow Leopard Server. The problem is that when other gmail users email me, it takes 30-60 minutes for that mail to arrive on my server, in my inbox. From what I can tell, all other mail services arrive instantly. But for a couple of months now, Gmail has had this unusual delay.
I'm using 10.6's built in mail server, with nothing particularly special. I am using four realtime blacklists, but they're pretty mainstream lists, and I haven't made any changes to them lately:

I'm not really sure where to even begin, troubleshooting a problem like this.

Check your mail server logs, and see if there's anything relevent being logged there when the messages are in-bound.
Also check that your MX record is what you expect, and that its forward and reverse translations match.
To check that, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and enter the following diagnostic commands. (Stuff that can and will vary for your specific setup is shown in italics, stuff in the commands that doesn't vary uses plain text.)
dig @8.8.8.8 MX +short example.com
mail.example.net
That asks Google DNS server at IP address 8.8.8.8 to show your MX record for your mail server, and the output shown assumes that your public mail server name is mail.example.net host.
Now get the IP address...
dig @8.8.8.8 +short mail.example.net
10.20.30.40
That's your public IP address for your mail server.
Now get the name associated with the IP address that the previous dig command returned...
dig @8.8.8.8 +short 10.20.30.40
mail.example.net
Use the IP address that was returned by the previous dig command. If you don't get back your domain name for your MX server, then your public DNS is misconfigured.
I'm also assuming you have just one NIC connected on that Xserve system. If you have more than one NIC connected, there can be or are extra steps, and you'll need to have IP routing correct.

Very Slow Speed & WIFI lagging?

Hi all, I am a Broadband customer with 8meg max download speed, over the last 3 months I have gone from over 8meg to now 223kb download speed, I have spoken to about 4 diffrent people at BT who go through the same things over and over again!!!
My issue is that BT have just installed FTB which is only 50yrds away and since they started messing around in that box my speed has dropped completely and not happy, they say I have an issue with my internal wiring but BT put a separate new line in only 6months ago with a strting download speed of 11meg and our Hub 2 is connected straight to it with just my pc and printer connected to the Hub, all other gadgets are connected through wifi and in some cases with two or more devices connected it bombs out altogether.
Is it me or is this all a ploy just to get me to sign up to Infinity in which I could receive speeds up to 100meg?. I was think of upgrading before all this hassle but now just feel as thou I may be forced to? any help would be appreciated.......... BT are yet to get back to me on my latest report of this issue.

A solution has been found thanks to a couple of hours on the net and logical analysis.
It seems my email provider BT has changed their mail client to Outlook 365. They have started my migration, hence I cannot send mail from home wifi, and will complete after a few days.

Safari and Gmail very slow

This may be a sign of Google releasing that BUZZ thing, but I have noticed gmail to very slow with Safari. Getting a lot of "still working" messages. I have BUZZ turned off. But I am assuming that BUZZ might be dragging their network down with high traffic.
Of course, I have reset safari, etc..

From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

Repair disk permissions..
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Make sure the there's enough free disk space. Not enough will slow the drive down. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

MBA - slow internet/wifi then photo stream is enabled

I have problem with very slow internet /wifi connection when photo stream is enabled. I run some test. I'm conecting MBA to internet by WIFI network. When photo stream is enabled, ping reply time to my router is around 1000ms - 2000ms. When I turn off photo stream, ping reply time is around 1ms, and internet works fast. I've tested MBA with difrent access point and there is the same problem. I have 2.5GB of photos on iCloud.
What can I do to fix this?

Photo Stream uses a lot of bandwidth. The fix is to disable it.
