Gmail issue

A colleague and both use iPads, iPhones and MacBook Pros. We are working on a website where we both need to use Gmail accounts. We have both successfully set up our individual accounts our our iPads and iPhones and I have also done this on my MacBook Pro.
However, despite various attempts, my colleague cannot get the Gmail account on her MacBook Pro to work.
So, yesterday, using her Gmail account details, I tried on my machine. It worked and I was able to send and receive. I then deleted the account.
She deleted the account from her machine, rebooted and tried again, twice, but to no avail. We have checked all the settings, including port and everything seems to be identical.
Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I suggest doing the following steps in the order listed:
1) Login to the BIS site for your carrier and delete both Gmail accounts.
2) Delete all CMIME related service books for the Gmail address.
3) Do a hard reset of the device
4) Setup your Gmail account via PC and send service books
Check your Gmail is correct the refreshed service books should also make Yahoo appear as normal in the message queue.

    Am I the only one who is still have GMail issues using the Smart Mailbox? I can't retrieve any of my emails on my GMail accounts let alone delete add and delete the account.

    I've been having this problem for a while myself, ever since after the first Mail update. Today's OS update didn't help either, and I just submitted Feedback to Apple, for the second time, having done it a few weeks ago to.
    I tried deleting the GMail accounts and recreating them, both from within Mail and then within the System Preferences panel. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason. After initially opening Mail, it works fine and retrieves messages for a while, and then ... it doesn't. Choosing "Get Mail" won't retrieve any email, but choosing "Synchronize All Accounts" does. Also, if I perform any action beyond simply reading an email, it will retrieve the email from that mailbox. That is, if I reply to or delete a message, it retrieves any messages at that time too.
    It's REALLY annoying that two updates later, something which seems like it should be relatively simple still doens't work.

    I've used Gmail with Mail for years, and it has suddenly stopped behaving. Mostly it takes *forever* for a message to be sent, but downloading messages can also take it's sweet time. I have several Gmail address I check, all are doing this. iPad and iPhone both work fine, so the issue seems to be isolated to the laptop.
    I'm running Snow Leopard on a MacBookPro from mid-2009.

    Yes.  I'm having a whole series of problems with Mail.app and GMail.  The problems are pretty well documented (links below), but I haven't seen any good fixes or heard any indication that Apple is taking them seriously.

    In addition to archived emails returning to the inbox, I'm seeing significant delays in new mail appearing in my inbox:  sometimes as long as hours after the mail appears on my iPhone and in the GMail web console.

  • GMail issues in iOS

    I have been frequently running into an issue that iOS mail can't get e-mail.  I get the error "Cannot Get Mail, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect"  I can delete the account and set it up again in settings and have no problem but then it won't fetch my mail.  issue occurs on both my iPad Air and iPhone 5S both running iOS 7.12.  I have no problem in Mac Mail or in a browser.

    Sadly, this does not appear to be the issue.  After a day with it working, I now get the same error regardless of how I try to connect (other than through the browser).  OS X on two computers, iOS on an iPad and an iPhone. 

  • Pop gmail issues with apple mail

    I have one pop gmail account for two macs and two iphones.  Normally we can retrieve email from each device.  however, when my wife's macbook pro retrieves the messages using apple mail, the messages remain on the server  but none of the other devices can retreive the same mail.  My gmail is set up for pop.  So the messages stay on the server until i personally remove them.
    why can't our other apple devices retrieve the email that is still on the server after my wife's macbook pro accesses the server and retrieves the email?

    I have each device to leave message on the server.  We have it set up this way so that my wife and I can see all the mail that comes into our own devices.  Then we can delete off each device as desired.  I go in to the server once a month and delete old mail.
    So to recap:  My wife's macpro uses apple mail.  it retrieves the mail from the server; but leaves it on the server.  However, though the email is still on the server, the other devices cannot retrieve the email.  it is like the email is old email that your device has already uploaded; but it hasn't uploaded to the other devices because my wife's mac opens the inbox on server first.
    I know that this sounds confusing.  it did not always work this way.  for a long time any of our devices could open the inbox on the server, retrieve the messages and leave the email on the server inbox for the other devices.  this issue is new.

    That's because Gmail is now IMAP on the phone. Whatever you do on the phone or online is duplicated either on the phone or server depending on where you did it. I think once the emails are on your computer it doesn't effect either the phone or online. Notice I said "Think" I don't have much experience with IMAP.

  • GMail issues on iPhone built in mail app

    Hi all,
    Not sure if this is a Gmail / iPhone Mail-wide issue, but hoping it is.
    I have an iPhone 4 (original) with iOS 7.1.  Today, my built-in mail app had issues receiving mail, got some kind of 'cannot connect to Gmail IMAP' error most of the day.  It now seems to be able to connect, but my inbox has become frazzled.  I can basically only see the two most recently received messages.  Every other message I can see in my inbox is an e-mail I have sent (in the list below the two most recent messages I've received).  I can't see any of the other messages I've received, scrolling down the list only shows the ones I've sent.  It's driving me nuts!  I have removed my Gmail account and re-added it, same problem.  I've logged into Gmail on the web and everything looks fine, I've even checked on my computer via the Apple Mail app and it all looks alright.  Just the iPhone mail...not sure what is up.
    Any ideas?  Hoping some other people have experienced a similar issue!

    Any ideas, guys?  I had a similar issue on iOS 6 but the move to iOS 7 fixed it.
    Yesterday, I moved a whole bunch of e-mails from my Gmail archive (on the web interface) to my inbox.  Now my Mail app on iPhone is missing a whole chunk of my e-mails....not sure how to fix this!
    Any advice would be most appreciated.  Thanks.
    EDIT: I should add, when I cycle to the All Mail folder, I can see everything as normal...but the inbox in the Mail app is missing all e-mails from before yesterday evening, choosing to show only those that are from months ago (and even then, they're just ones I've sent, all the received ones are missing).

    first time i setup gmail on my N95 and it works beautifully
    but i've 2 issues
    1) i can recv emails just fine but cant reply as it tries for awhile and says timed out.

    Hi sqlpro, try:
    (1) "Messaging" - "Options" - "Settings" - "Email" and set "Mailbox in use" to your gmail account.
    This sets your gmail account as the default email account for sending (& replying to) emails.
    (2) Deleting the message from the phone only deletes the body of the message (to save some disc space). It does not delete the header. Unfortunately, the only way to remove the header from the phone is to also delete it from the server, or in the case of gmail, move it out of the inbox (that is, select "Archive" from within gmail).

  • Gmail Issues Since Last Night (9/24)

    Since around 5-6PM on 9/24, I've been having Gmail account issues.  I have 2 gmail accounts on my BB Z30. Apparently I can send messages OUT from my phone but incoming messages are not being delivered. 
    When I go into my email accounts and try to save it again, I get a variety of different error messages, including: not all connections were closed in the allotted time, etc.  What's interesting though is that when I switch to wi-fi, one of the Gmail accounts works properly, bu tthe other one will not.  I got an error message (with a triangle at the top of my Hub listing) saying that Gmail isn't Responding.  Again, isn't responding on ONE account, but it is responding on the other account (on wi-fi).
    I will try deleting the account and re-adding it to see if that makes a difference.  But I'm curions if anyone else is having this issue.

    Ok, my bad.  I worked on it and now on the cellular network both Gmail accounts are working fine.  Not sure what happened to cause this.
    Anyway, I deleted one account and re-added it.  After that, the status of that account changed to 'email' indicating it was connected.
    Everything seems to be well now.

  • Default mail app and gmail issues

    Hi, I recently got fed up with Google denying us the possibility to switch off the dreaded conversation view.  So - I switched to using the default Sony email app connected to my gmail account.  Two issues:
    When I delete a mail after reading it will often (not always) reappear in the inbox later.  Gmail has two options for what will happen when deleting messages, both produce the same error.  Didn't happen with the gmail app.
    Scrolling when reading a mail is horribly slow.
    Anyone have any tips?

    The Gmail app is a direct link to Gmail so deleting from the Gmail app will delete said email however from the default email app that is simply put a forwarding address so the email will not be deleted - It may be deleted or made exempt from future sync'ing but you often find that if the email hasn't fully loaded then it will be seen as unread and will reappear

  • IMAP gmail issues since software 2.2 update!!

    I recently (yesterday) downloaded 2.2 for iPhone. Since then I have had gmail email issues on the phone. Today I tried the following things - all with the same result (cannot connect using SSL, account verification failed, IMAP server errors):
    Have restarted phone (several times).
    Have erased mail account and entered again (tried with google button, used "other" and tried both IMAP and POP) (several times each)
    Have checked my gmail account for issues (both enabled for IMAP and POP)
    Can someone help me? Not much of a point of having an update which is supposed to help the "push" issues, when you can't access email at all. Does anyone know if Google is having issues?

    In case anyone viewing was wondering, I think their must've been an outage at gmail this afternoon for a while. The exact same settings now work for IMAP. I'm gonna cross my fingers that it doesn't keep happening

  • HTC Mail for Android and Gmail Issue

    Greetings.  When using the HTC Mail App which came preinstalled with my phone I have not been able to receive or send mail from my default account (Gmail) since September. 
    I get one of two different error messages in the notification Bar. 
    When trying to send = "Unable to Send Mail   The account setting is incorrect"  ----when I click this the Edit Account Screen pops up.  It asks for:
    Email Address
    Account Name
    Your Name
    I type these in, hit Finish Set Up and I get a pop up that says the account settings have been saved.  But nothing changes.
    I try again this time opting to click the update password box.  Hoping that once I enter my correct password for the gmail account that all will be well.  Nope...I get an "Warning: 401 Unauthorized
    When trying to retrieve....I get an Alert box that Says Log In Failed.
    This gmail account works perfectly fine on my PC and on the third party installed gmail app on the phone.
    I can't delete the account as it was the one used upon initial set up of the phone.
    The only thing I can think is that I did do a Cache wipe back around the time this issue started.  I did this because my wifes Incredible was having memory errors and I thought that I was being preemptive of the same issues with my Inc2. 
    I have searched far and wide for a remedy and have had no luck.  I would really rather not have to perform a factory reset.  Please help?

    Email access on your device is very important! I myself use email on daily basis, so I know how frustrating it can be when your receiving error messages. Let's get this fixed. Google recently released a new verification process for Gmail accounts that allows the account to become more secure.  The process is called 2-step verification, 2- step verification allows the customer to ONLY sign into certain Gmail programs with their normal password.  Other applications requires the user to actually go onto a website to create a temporary password. You can turn off this feature http://bit.ly/SMZaWg. Once you have turned off this feature attempt to add the gmail account to the device. Keep me posted.

  • More gmail issues in safari 5.0.5

    aside from my previous post of safari crashing when using gmail, other issues have arisen that i have never seen before in gmail on safari over the past 5 years.
    All chats are glitchy...every time a message is sent, the chat window flashes and the performance becomes laggy.
    Any ideas?  Running 10.6.7 with safari 5.0.5

    I use two different apps to retrieve gmail. Outlook 2011 and Mailplane. Very rarely do I use a browser.

  • IMAP4/GMAIL Issue with Palm Treo 700wx

    Since I got my phone in April I had no problem syncing up my GMAIL account. Over the past month or two however when I download a message to the phone and if I want to delete it, it won't be deleted off the server like it did before. So I have to go manually go into the website and into my GMAIL account and delete messages I don't want that way. Any idea what issue it could be?

    Hello sery5951 and welcome to the Palm forums.
     Maybe your email account files on your Palm have become corrupted.  Have you tried deleting your account on the Palm, performing a soft reset, and then recreating the account on the Treo?  Once the account has been recreated, try the delete test again.
