Gmail mail in iCloud sent folder

Hi, I just set up my mail on my new mac but for some reason all my Gmail sent mail is also in my iCloud sent mail folder, its also like this when I acess my mail through the iCloud website, how do I fix this ?
- thanks

At a guess you have configured the Mail app so that GMail uses the iCloud outgoing server, check your smtp settings in Mail.

Simply enter the configurations menu from settings, go to personal config and the account should be listed there, select options and delete.

  • Mail and Gmail IMAP: duplicates in sent folder

    Hi there,
I recently set up my Gmail account for IMAP and configured Mail.app accordingly. I have several mail accounts which all get directed over my Gmail account. It all works fine, but whenever I send a mail from Mail.app from one of my mail accounts, it appears twice in my sent folder in Mail.app (it's not sent twice, I checked that, and it appears normally in the sent folder of the web interface).
It's seriously clucttering my sent folder, does anybody have an idea how to fix this? Maybe a problem with labels?
    Help greatly appreciated,
    J

    Anyone? No idea?

  • Messages sent on device do not show up on Mac in ICloud Sent folder - Why?

When I send a message on my IPad, it shows up on the Cloud, but does not appear in my Sent folder in Mail on my Mac ICloud mail account

Joelrsny had the much easier fix:
For Sent folder not showing on the iPhone.
ALL of these ways work to add a Gmail account to the iPhone. Its not how you add it, its the settings in Gmail causing these folders not to appear.
Do not add the account to the iPhone first. Go to Gmail.com in a browser, log in to your email account and hit settings at the top right.... Select the Labels Tab at the top. On the right, you will see check boxes. Check all the folders you want to appear in imap accounts. Once you check them, go and add the account by just picking add Gmail account on your iphone settings for mail. ALL the folders you checked will appear...
    Done!

  • ICloud "sent" folder problem on iPhone 5

I have set up an icloud mail on iphone5, same account as in mac.
My mac doesnt have any problem to show all the "sent" mail, not even in the icloud.com, all the mails on "sent" folder are all shown.
BUT on my iPhone, it doesnt show all, some of them are missed on the list, but when I make a search, the email is there.
I have restored, erased the whole phone, set up a new phone, but it doesnt work.

What is the message, if any, you're reiciving during the backup? How much content are you trying to backup? Just because you have 4GB of icloud storage doesn't mean that your not exceding that with your attempted backup.

  • How do I delete 132 e-mails in the sent folder that I can't see?

My 'Sent' folder is showing 132 e-mails in summary but when I click on the folder itself, nothing is visible! The folder appears empty.
Also, my e-mail application is occupying 2.0GB of space on the iPad. How do I reduce the size of the application?
    Many thanks!

Close the mail app completely, and reset the iPad. Closing the app and resetting may allow the emails to reappear and/or it might reduce the email storage on the device - assuming that something is out of whack.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Mail 2.1: "Sent" folder lost its content - how to get it back?

    Hello:
I've scoured the forum, but couldn't find an answer to my pb.
After a series of crashes (that I couldn't explain), my "sent" folder cannot reconnect with its source folder in ~/Library/Mail.
This is probably because I trashed the preferences folder (including the Mail plist) to troubleshoot the crashes, which worked.
Within Mail clicking on any message in the "sent" folder gives this mesasage:
The message from xxxx <[email protected]> concerning “Carnival2: script” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
1-Is there a way to force the Mail app to repair the lost link to the "source" "sent" folder (in Library)?
2-How does one force-download the sent messages from one's web host's servers?
    Thank you very much

You haven’t answered what type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)...
Report the names of the files and folders present at the first level of the ~/Library/Mail/ folder in the Finder.
In order to post the exact file names and avoid typing mistakes, proceed as follows. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, if you’re looking at it in View > as List mode, first collapse any expanded folders so that the Finder only shows the files and folders at the first level of ~/Library/Mail/. Now, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post.
Before actually posting that information, edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you should keep private, e.g. replace any real username with “username” to hide your real email address. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Sent mail disappears from Sent folder - VERY ANNOYING!

Sometimes when I send mail it does not appear in the Sent folder, or appears very briefly before disappearing.
This is really annoying because I have no copy of the email to send it again, and have to check with the recipient to see if they got it. It happens fairly regularly but I haven't noticed any particular pattern. The lost mail does not appear in Mail on my Mac or on the MobileMe web version. Sometimes it reappears later on.
Does anyone else get this problem? Any clues as to what might be going on? Seems a fairly fatal flaw for an email application.

    Hi Mike,
    Here's what I would do...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions.
In your Home folder. open Library folder, open Mail folder in that, look for the Envelope Index, and drag it to the Desktop.
Then in your Home folder. open Library folder, open Caches folder in that, look for the Mail, and drag it to the Desktop.Move Envelope Index to the Desktop in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Move this folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail
    Reboot.

  • Duplicate emails in iCloud sent folder

I'm having an issue that when I send email from my icloud.com account, I'm ending up with duplicates in the "sent" folder.  There have been some other threads on this, but I'm not seeing any answers.   Does anyone else have this problem?   Apple, if you see this, please advise.
I'm running a PC and generally use Firefox.

OK, so others are having this problem.  Hopefully if there are Apple techs scanning these forums something will be done about it.   Here are a couple of other threads which I've posted on:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22382205#22382205
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5146256?start=0&tstart=0
It does not seem to happen on my iPhone, and it does not happen every single time on my PC, but it happens most times.   The person the email is being sent to does not receive two emails, they only receive one.   It seems to be just the senders folder that is affected.
I also visited the Apple Store.  The young man who helped me was very nice and competent, but he too was thrown for a loop and had never encountered this issue before.

  • Why do i get 2 copies of outgoing mails in my sent folder

I have used one e-mail account (eclipse.co.uk) for years. I recently added two more. With one (Hotmail.co.uk) whenever I send a message I get two copies in the 'Sent' folder. This does not happen with the other accounts.
On the third account (plus.com) some of the incoming messages appear twice in the inbox. This doesn't happen on the other accounts

I made a big mistake ! I am using Thunderbird Mail not Firefox.
I took your link and found an answer to the two messages in the Sent folder but didn't see anything about duplicate incoming messages.
I recently transferred to Plusnet. On the first day 5 messages to me on my new address, all from them, only appeared once. Subsequently all messages from them appear twice. Messages I have sent to myself only appear once.
Thanks for your help - sorry about confusing the original request for help.

  • ICloud Sent Folder

I "sent" 3 large emails yesterday, but do not see them in my "sent" folder ~ short of calling the individuals, is there some way I can confirm it they were received/sent? They are resumes ~ please help!

If they were my resumes, I would be calling to check on them. I would worry about the mail problems later.

  • AppleScript to Send Again E-Mail Message in Sent Folder

For reasons more complicated than interesting, I want to use Send Again to reply to incoming e-mails that meet certain specific conditions. I've figured out how to extract the sender's e-mail address from the message, but I can't figure out how to select a previously sent message and resend it to the new recipient. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Here's what I've got so far:
    tell application "Mail"
    set theMessage to selection
set the thisMessage to item 1 of the theMessage
set theSender to sender of the thisMessage
set theAddress to extract address from theSender
set sendAgain to 1st message of sent mailbox whose id is 343445
-- Need to tell Mail to Send Again the message sendAgain
set sender of (message sendAgain) to theAddress
    -- Need to send message
    end tell
I get the error on the last line: "Mail got an error: Can’t set message (message id 343445 of mailbox "[Gmail]/Sent Mail" of account "User Name") to "[email protected]".

  • How To Hide Mail In Box & Sent Folder From 2nd User?

Hubby is a scary computer user. He knows virtually nothing so experiments by changing, deleting and re-arranging. Having disabled our computer twice with a user account I thought was parental controlled enough to prevent harm, we agreed that he would leave the computing to me (who knows a scant more than nothing). But now we are to buy a second computer so I'd like to make the iBook G4/Tiger his. His user account will let him use mail & safari (and nothing more, I hope). If I hide the credit card safari should be safe but the mail account is another matter. I've set up a rule so any messages coming to his .Mac alias go into a mailbox on his computer, but there is that "in box" sitting right there and the "sent box". It won't do any good to tell him never to touch them. He'll get turned around and... poof! Is there some way to give him access only to the messages sitting on his computer?

You don't say what type of account this is, POP or IMAP, but I'd make a new Mailbox on your Mac.
Mail>Preferences>Mailbox>New Mailbox...>On My Mac, then make a rule to move your messages to it, which will move them out of the common Inbox.

  • Some mails in the Sent folder disappear

Some of a user's Sent items disapear and are not physically on the store disk. The user is sure that he did not delete them. Mail content of the remained emails is not complete. For example, in one mail, the attachment is missing.
What could be the possible reasons? Simply because of iMS bugs?
Where is the log for oprations on the msg store?
    It is iMS 5.2.
    Thanks.

First, you are using the original, 3-year old bits. No user should be doing that. There are literally hundreds of fixes that have been released since then.
You can download 5.2p2 from here:
    http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=11&PartDetailId=MsgSvr-5.2p2-OTH-G-TP&TransactionId=Try
5.2p2 is about a year old, but is the latest available without contacting Tech Support.
Second, as far as I know the issue you're describing, messages disappearing from Sent has never been seen when the user is only using webmail.
You may want to parse through the imap and pop logs, to see if that user has connected from some other client, other than webmail.
It's possible that you have "expiration" rules set, that could expire messages from some users mailboxes. Run the utility, "configutil", pipe the results to a file, and look for "store.expirerule" settings.
