Gmail messages switching to unread after I view them

iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1. I use Gmail in the default mail app, meaning it's an IMAP connection.
When a new message arrives, I open it on the phone. As soon as I do this, it changes the status to "read" but within a second or two it goes back to "unread". I have to manually mark it as read, or close the message and open it again to have it appear as read. It happens regardless of whether or not I read the message the instant it arrives, or if I read it sometime later.
This has been happening since before 7.1. I don't remember precisely when it started. Tried deleting the account and re-adding it. I don't have mail clients open anywhere else that might be changing the status unintentionally. It doesn't happen to my Exchange account in the mail app, nor does it make any difference if I'm on a wifi or cellular network. The push interval is 15 minutes, if it matters.
I'm getting quite frustrated with this. What am I doing wrong here?

It sounds like the Gmail account you have set up in the Mail app on the phone is acting strangely on the device, even though you have already deleted and re added the account. I don't know if you have tried this before but I would next try removing the Gmail account as you had before in the settings, then close the mail app and any others that are running:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone, add the account again, and test the issue:

I would start by setting up the device as new, and adding the Gmail account to test it again. When it works, restore from your backup and verify it continues to work.

Apple's Mail application can use either IMAP or POP. In fact Gmail can be set either way.

I upgraded my iPhone 4 from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6 and that is when I started disliking it.. Most of the things of changed and creating problems. The maps don’t work as they are suppose to work. The major problem that i am facing is with my messages. I can see the messages in the preview but when I try to read them and open them it becomes blank. And when I go back the message is not there .. But if I turn the phone on and off it shows the message back in preview but then again the same thing happens... plz if some one can help me out with this.. or help me to rollback to iOS 5.1.1 I loved it ...

8330 is deleting the e-mails on my handeld after I view them

My BB is deleting my e-mails right after I open, view and close them from my handheld. This has been an ongoing issue I have had with my current and old BB. I opne an e-mail read it and then clise it. When I try to open it back up it is gone.
Why is this? I would like the e-mails that I opend and do not personaly delete to stay on my handeld for at least 7 days.
How do I do this?

Most likely your BlackBerry is running out of onboard memory. When a BlackBerry becomes critically low on memory it will automatically delete email messages, text messages (SMS), and call logs in order to keep a minimum amount of free space available. This functionality is by design.
To free up memory on the BlackBerry, complete as many of the following steps as possible. Some steps may not apply to all devices. Steps may be skipped if desired.
NOTE: Regardless of which steps are completed, make sure to restart the device as the final step.
Clear the Phone Call Logs
From the BlackBerry Home screen, select the Messages icon.
Press ALT+P to view the phone call logs only.
NOTE: The ALT key varies, but is always located in the lower left corner of the keyboard.
Highlight the line with today's date.
Display the menu, select Delete Prior.
Delete Unneeded Text Messages (SMS)
From the BlackBerry Home screen, select the Messages icon.
Press ALT+S to view text messages only.
Highlight the line with today's date.
Display the menu, select Delete Prior.
Delete Unneeded Multimedia Messages (MMS)
From the BlackBerry Home screen, select the Messages icon.

Reduce Allocated Media Memory

Store Pictures on the Memory Card (Devices w/Cameras Only)

Delete Pictures Stored Locally

imessage will only send as a SMS if imessage is unavailable otherwise imessage is used to send message between to Apple devices.

you can do it, but how to do it depends on how you have email set up on your pc and on your phone, and what type of phone you have. for example, i use outlook on my pc for all of my email accounts. i have it set in the options to leave a copy of the email on the server when i delete an email. i also have an option on my phone the is NOT checked, that says "delete mail on server." this way, i can delete emails from the pc or the phone, and they stay on the server and the other device. to delete them from both, i have to actually delete them myself from both, the pc and my phone. different email clients and different phones are set up a bit differently, but they should all have some variations of a setting to leave a copy on the server after deleting it on the respective device.
edit: one other box i left unchecked on my phone is "sync deleted item from server" (this also removes messages from the phone when deleted from the server, the next time it syncs).

After updating to Mavericks, I can't seem to open files to attach to gmail messages. I can still drag and drop into them, but I'm unable to click on my documents through the paperclip icon on the bottom of composing my message. Anyone else know a solution or facing the same issue?

Gmail tab never updates unread message count

I'm using OS X 10.9.1 and Safari 7.0.1.
The tab that I have for Gmail never updates the unread message count. It constantly says 27 and has done that ever since I got my MacBook which has newer versions of everything over my old MacBook which was running 10.7. I've tried deleting cookies and clearing the cache and such but the tab still says 27 unread emails even though, as of this writing, I have 29 unread emails.
Is there any way to fix this?

Since I last brought this up 4 months ago, Safari has been updated to 7.0.3 and OS X is now at 10.9.2 and I'm still having the same issue. The GMail tab always says 27. Though now I can refresh the page and get it to update the count and it will continue to update correctly after that. But it always starts at 27 and I have to force a refresh of the page to get it to update.
Scratch some of that. I went into the bookmarks and deleted the "(27)" from the name of the bookmark. Now when the tab loads, it simply says "Inbox - " followed by my email address. And only after I reload the page does it have an unread email count which is correct.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Restore Gmail messages after a hacker deleted all my mail

My Gmail account was hacked, and, after sending out spam to all my contacts, the hacker deleted all my mail off my Gmail account. I use Apple Mail and keep offline copies of my emails. However, I can't seem to find a way to import these copies back into my Gmail account, and Apple Mail doesn't find them when I search on Apple Mail. I've tried moving messages back into the inbox folder in my Library, but no avail. Any suggestions?

Linking AOL and gmail? I don't know what that means. But if it means what I think it does - that you have the AOL and gmail servers chatting directly with each other through some configuration, I'd definitely disable that.
In general, the messages either aren't deleted, or aren't correctly deleted, or there's a protocol or network error, or some sort of a mail server error.
First diagnostic is a mailbox repair. Mail.app > Mailbox > Rebuild
Then verify that the credentials are correct and the connection is reliable:
Mail.app > Window > Connection Doctor
And yes, if you have gmail and AOL chatting directly with each other, undo that.

If he is an iPhone user it will send a iMessage to u because that is what his phone is use to so he will have to hold his sent iMessage down and click send as text message and it should send to ur new phone hope it helps

Most pics blocked on sites/programs. I can't open some programs that Explorer opens. I would sure appreciate any help!!!

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases. Or roll back to the previous build:

Is there a way to have my e-mail messages stay unopened on my computer after I have viewed them with the blackberry

Not sure if there is a setting on the blackberry but my work e-mail(s) will also be sent to my blackberry. After I have viewed them on the blackberry, if I go to my desttop computer, the e-mails will already have been opend (not bold). Just wondering if there a setting that can be changed or should I contact our IT dept.

The app that I am using came on the Samsung tv. It is called mediaplayer. I have updated the firmware on the tv but it did not change the app or update it. The same thing happens. It recognizes the photos but not the videos. My friend also has a Samsung tv (differnet model) and I connected the touch to his and the same thing. He has a Motorolla Droid and when he connects it to his tv via a USB cable it does recognize his videos so I imagine that his Droid records videos with the mp4 extension.
So I am back to my original question. Is there a way to make the mp4 extension as the default when recording videos on the touch?
