Gmail on Razr Maxx

How can i delete emails (Gmail) on my Razr Maxx but still keep them in Gmail on my computer ?

I think it's under Settings - Forwarding and POP or something such as that.  About 1/2 way down the page I tell it to leave a copy on the server.  Now, that might only pertain to my computer using Outlook Express, I'm not sure.  However, I never delete them from my phone if I think I might want to open it on my computer when I get home.  I like to save emails from friends and family on my computer.  I also save certain other emails from one reason or another.  I don't save things on my phone except maybe temporarily.

droid razr maxx calendar does not show up on gmail calendar even though it says that it has synced?

I had this same issue. I solved it finally by downloading the free "official" google calendar disabling the phone calendar app (Google Calendar - Android Apps on Google Play) and disabling the phone calendar. Then you need to choose your gmail account to sync with your calendar app. Now my entries on the phone are showing up on my PC.

I guess I'm screwed.  My Razr HD calendar won't sync with Google - apparently all my events were on the phone calendar and not Googe calendar.  After following prior posts, I cleared the data on my phone's calendar - now my events are gone and I don't know when my next appointments are.  Any way to retrieve that data?  Any way to sync the two calendars - or to make sure the darn appointments are placed on the Google calendar and not the stupid phone calendar?
You have to select the Google/Gmail account as the location where to save the event. In the screen where you are adding the info to create the event there is a spot for choosing which calendar to save it to. This is where you pick the Gmail calendar.

  • Problem with Droid Razr Maxx and Jelly Bean update

My Droid Razr Maxx was updated this morning and right away found a couple of problems. First, although I was sitting next to my wireless router, the signal display indicated a really weak signal. This seemed to clear up after a reboot and an on-off-on cycle of the wifi on the phone.
The second problem was that, with the wifi off, I had no data signal. None. The phone worked but no 1x/3G/4G. I traced that problem to the phone configuration. Somehow the update turned off Mobile network data access. (Menu -> System Settings -> Wireless Netwroks -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Enable data access over mobile networks)
Seems like a dumb thing for the update to do.

Put all of your contacts in one place, Gmail contacts.  Gmail will only sync one copy and is an excellent way to restore contacts after a factory reset.  If you have contacts in Gmail, Verizon Backup Assistant, Facemail, etc. then you will probably get multiple copies.  Ditch Backup Assistant ASAP if you have it activated.
Make sure all of your contacts are in Gmail Contacts, erase all contacts from your phone (clear data in Settings > Apps > All > Contacts Storage), and resync with Gmail Contacts.

    Tip No. 1 Battery Tips..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/product_page/faqs/p/30,6720,8417
Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and will naturally degrade over time. You've probably experienced this with other battery-powered products - you find yourself charging the battery more often as the charge just doesn't seem to hold as often as it once did. Eventually, you may need to replace the internal battery.
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
With the expedited battery replacement program, for an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product. If your device is within the warranty period the charge for this service is $19 plus applicable taxes. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

The DROID RAZR MAXX is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.  Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DROID RAZR MAXX. Calling and texting utilize its phone functions.  Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery. Charging time from 0% takes approx. 5.5 hours.
    Tips:
It is recomended to use a wall charger to charge the phone instead of USB cable plugged in to a computer.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
If your device is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging.
Ensure you are using a Motorola specific charger. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
    Tips to extend battery life:
During initial set up of your Google and social networking account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.

In addition certain Facebook, Twitter, Email and other apps that constantly sync over the internet can reduce your battery life. We recommend you use the Motorola task manager application. Task Managers let you monitor how apps use memory and processing power and identify apps that are using too many resources.
Reboot your phone If you are getting only a few hours of battery life or your phone is running slow, it is probably not your phone. An app or widget is probably the cause. Restart your phone to clear background apps: Press and hold the power button > Tap Power off. Then turn the phone back on. Daily reboots can help keep rogue apps from taking battery life.
Use the AC adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
Toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS on or off as needed. These can be placed on your desktop by selecting an open area of your screen and selecting them. individually or using the Android Power Control Widget.
Clear all notifications from the notification bar as much as possible.
Ensure you do not have have duplicate email accounts. Duplicate email account will drain battery life. To check for duplicate email accounts, touch > My Accounts > Advanced set up and ensure there are no duplicates. To remove an account, touch the account > Menu > Remove account.

    Tip No.2  Screen Lock..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/86349/p/30,6720,8417
How does my screen lock and unlock features work with the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade?
With Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) your device now has several different lock options available.
To access your lock options, touch   > Settings > Security.
    Screen Lock Options
Slide - provides no protection, but lets you get to the Home screen quickly, or open Camera and start taking pictures immediately.
Face Unlock - lets you unlock your phone by looking at it. This is the least secure lock option.
Pattern - lets you draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the phone. This is slightly more secure than Face Unlock.
PIN - requires four or more numbers. Longer PINs tend to be more secure.
Password - requires four or more letters or numbers. This is the most secure option, as long as you create a strong password.
The Lock Screen on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream sandwich) uses two timers. The first timer is the "Sleep" timer which turns off the device display to extend battery life. You can turn the display on and swipe to unlock. The second timer called the "Automatic lock" timer turns on security features like pin, pattern, password or face unlock and protects the device from unknown users. This "Automatic lock" timer begins after the "Sleep" timer expires and you will be asked to enter personally recognizable data like pin, pattern, password or the face unlock when the display is powered on.To adjust the "Automatically lock"  timer go to Settings > Security > Automatically lock > Select desired time frame. To adjust the "Sleep" setting go to Settings > Display > Sleep > Select desired time frameIf you are using facial recognition and do not want the "slide to unlock" to appear, set the "automatic lock" timer to "5sec".Power button instantly locksThere is a new option in Android 4.0.4 which will automatically lock the device when the display is on and the power button is pressed.  As soon as the power button is pressed your device will lock.To activate the "Power button instantly locks" setting, go to Settings > Security > Toggle the Power button instantly locksIt is important to note your phone may contain security policies set by your IT administrator which may override any settings you attempt to set under screen security. • Razr Maxx screen wont stay on for more then 3 seconds

So I got my droid razr maxx in today and this is the first smart phone i've ever owned. The screen keeps shutting off after 3 seconds and i have to press the power button to put the phone in idle and then press it again to bring the phone back in order to make the screen turn back on. Nothing else makes the screen turn back on but i can select everything on the screen as if it were on. I had to set up my entire account by quickly punching in my gmail account and password before the screen turned off on me and i had to go idle and come back. I had to do this straight through the setup phase of the phone. When i finally finished the setup i went into the settings and set the display setting to never turn the screen off. It didn't stop the screen from turning off. So i charged the phone to 100 percent from the 60 percent it came at. The screen still shuts off 3 seconds after i turn the phone on. Is it bricked ? Whats going on ?

    Foon,
Good afternoon! Congratulations on your first smart phone! I would love to offer my assistance to ensure your experience is an enjoyable one.  Ann154 asks a great question(thank you!). Is there a case, holster, etc covering up the proximity sensor? Even screen protectors have been know to degrade the ability of the sensor.  If you determine that nothing is obstructing the sensor, I recommend a 'Hard Reset' to the device in order to return the phone to factory settings. It may be necessary, after the reset, to go over options to have the device replace either under the 14-day exchange period or under Motorola's warranty.
Please reply back so I and the community can assist further.

  • Best way to Migrate to new RAZR MAXX from DX ?

I'll soon be upgrading from my Droid X to a Razr Maxx and was wondering the easiest method to move to the new phone so that ALL of my APPs migrate after activation.  e.g., After doing the *228 option 1  and logging into my GMAIL account, will all the APPS automatically get downloaded? Or should I use an APP like "AppList Backup" - it's RESTORE function.  How did you peeps do this when you switched phones?
    thanks in advance

When are you getting your new phone Cody: when you get an this is what i done when i took my out of the box i charged it first thing didn't even turn it on once it finished.  I then cut very carefully on the edges of the Sim Card with my X-Acto with No.11 blade then grabbed it by it's edges an it's had to do this Cody but i did an then i installed as it shows gold side Up Now pushing that little Turkey was a little hard for me an i did not have a Sim Card push Tool so I made One i used a Toothpick i Cut it to Ware it had a Blunt Face an by doing that Cody i was Able to push the Sim in all the Way. Cody Right before you turn it Do a Factory Reset on your X to take out all the stuff that will soon be on your Maxx then shut it Down that's the way i done on mine..
Now your can Power up your Maxx
Now when you Turn it ON you won't have to do a *228   Any longer as the phone programs it self Via the Sim Card.  An flowing thru the Instructions is basically like it was when you programed you X. If your contacts are saved thru Google like mine is as soon as enter your Account or Accounts those contacts an you Paid Apps will be on your Razr!  mine was on the my Maxx in just a few Seconds an No hang up at all.

  • DROID RAZR MAXX HD will not update to Android 4.4.2

    Hello, All.
I am trying to figure out why my phone will not update to the newest version of Android or how to resolve this issue.
    Here are my specs:
    System version: 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Model number: DROID RAZR MAXX HD
    Android version: 4.1.2
    Baseband version: VANQUISH_BQ_100730.151.64.17P
    Kernel version: 3.1.31-gef7deb8
    Build number: 9.8.1Q-94
Build date: Wed Sep 25 15:13:00 CDT 2013
Here's the issue. I get the notification to update to KitKat (4.4.2) and so I download the update and press the install. It reboots my phone and starts the update. It gets to about halfway when the little Android animation falls on its side and displays a red triangle above him. My phone reboots again and when it loads, it shows a message saying that the update failed. There is no more information - just that it failed.
Is anyone out there having the same problem I am having? I've searched the Internet at no avail. All I've found are issues after the update.
Is there another way of updating my system that I don't know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

        Sharon ,
Thank you for giving that a try. A factory data reset would be the next step. I know you are hesitant to do this, but we can make it easier to restore the phone after it is erased. Do you happen to use Verizon Cloud? It's a great app that you can download from the Play Store and it'll save all of your contacts, pictures, videos, music and documents. If you do not recall your Gmail address and password please take note of them before doing the reset. Then, follow these steps http://vz.to/1hdnWdK to reset your phone. Often times doing this after a software update will resolve any issues you're having.

  • Droid Razr Maxx HD pre-purchase question from a newbie

I'm planning to get a Droid Razr Maxx HD soon; it'll be my first Droid phone.  My question:
Is it possible to back up and/or synchronize the phone directly to a Windows PC?  By directly, I mean via USB cable connection?
I know it's possible to back up and synchronize through Google, or Verizon's Backup Assistant... but I'd rather not use either of these if possible.
Next question: is the Droid Razr Maxx HD's native contact database compatible with any of the standard PC database programs (e.g. MS Access, etc)?
    Thanks in advance!

I appreciate your interest in the awesome Droid Razr HD Tabonga! This android device is designed to backup and sync using Google, GMail or Backup Assistant. I'm sorry the device is not designed for backup and sync with windows. If you are comfortable with windows, have you reviewed our windows compatible devices?

  • Droid Razr Maxx/Issues with Exchange Sync and Texting

I have a Droid Razr Maxx.  Since the KitKat update to 4.4 in May 2014, my Exchange email account will not sync. My Comcast account does.    If I power cycle the phone, it will sync the Exchange account for a short time until I receive the following error message:  'couldn't open connection to server due to sec..."  When I touch the error message, it just goes away.  If there is more of the error message, I'm unable to see it.  I have removed the Exchange account and added it back in three times.  My IT department indicates they have not made any changes to the security levels, but have fielded several questions from other Android users with the KitKat update.  My text messaging service also stopped.  I've been reviewing all forums and tried different things, but to no avail.  I went to the Verizon store, who just said that there have been 'lots' of complaints about KitKat and that I should buy a different phone.  This $200+ phone is only 7 months old.  Please help!!

After deleting and adding my Corporate account, visiting the local Verizon store several times, visiting my IT department, and now wiping the phone and re installing all software, the Corporate email still only syncs when I power cycle the phone.  We are a BYOD company which means every other phone works with the Exchange account.  My phone also worked up until the KitKat update in May 2014. The only recommendation I have received from Verizon is to replace my 8 month old Motorola Razr Maxx with a entirely different phone at full price. The tech I spoke with at Verizon made the statement that she has avoided updating to KitKat given all the customer issues she has had to deal with.
I'm in a technology field and understand when glitches occur, but also expect functionality issues to be addressed. I've been with both Verizon and Motorola for a long time, but very doubtful I will continue this relationship when contract time is up for renewal.  I'm carrying my iPad around to get the Corporate emails and the Razr Maxx has been relegated to just being a very expensive phone.

Thanks for the info regarding the latest update. I like some of the new/improved options, however I am highly disappointed that the update discontinued the reminder option. I would think that setting a program reminder is a highly used feature and many will be unhappy now that it is gone. I know I surely am!

  • Verizon Edge????  What will be the stipulations.  & Major issue w/ Razr Maxx HD

Let me explain why I am wondering about this at this point and the problems I am having.  I am wondering and hoping to get some concrete info on the new edge plan.  I am on my third refurb warranty replacement phone.  I am sick and tired of it at this point.  This third phone is a Razr Maxx HD and of course the first week it starts acting up.  I get the following icons either one or all at the same time:  sim card icon, a no smoking type circle thing over the signal bars, and then that will turn into a red triangle with a white plus sign.  A month and a half later and 3 sims card later, I still have no idea at any given moment when I can actually use my phone.  Even motorola said if the third sims card does the same thing then it has something to do in the sims card slot. Believe me, i have went round and round with customer service about this.  I'm so sick of this situation at this point I would like to trade for a different phone but it seems that not an option at this point.  So it's either get another refurb Razr Maxx HD or buy a Note 2 at $700 all up front to keep my unlimited data.  Now I have an old Alltel plan with a limited amount of minutes which is enough for us but we have unlimited text and UNLIMITED DATA.  Now the only way to keep this is to purchase a phone at full retail.  I was already to upgrade my plan and get a Note 2 at the discounted price but I just cant give up my unlimited data I don't think....I mean 10 gb of data with three phone is almost the same price as I pay now with unlimited data.  It's a little bit more but come on its unlimited data.  AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  We have been averaging 6 gb approx but still get a Note 2 and I see my usage going up.  April I used over 6 myself (daggone Pandora radio lol).  Ok what I need to know is how this new program is going to work exactly.  I know you are supposed to be able to purchase a new device at full retail price with no contract and make payments on it over a 24 month period.  Then after 6 months and only if you have paid half of what the device cost on full retail, you would be able to purchase another device.  My issue comes in at ... should I wait till this program goes live Aug. 25th to get a Note 2, get one now at full retail (but its $700) all up front, or just get another refurb Razr Maxx HD for now.  Plus I heard the Note 3 is coming this fall but I'm not holding my breather about it.  I would like to know more specifics about the New Edge plan especially if they will allow us on unlimited data plans to keep keep it if we use this program.  Can someone please help?

B33 I have read your links thank you for the time.  So it does seem Verizon will not let us unlimited data users to take advantage of the Edge program.  Nor do I believe it is good anyway.  I see people selling their phones for 2 and 3 times as much as what the trade in program gives you anyway right now.  So if you have to trade your phone back in definitely not coming out ahead to me anyway.  I am not one to want to trade every 6 months to a year anyway unless my phone has just crapped out on me.
As far as the update, I have already ran the update and it did nothing to help my phone.  According to Motorola it is something inside of the sims card slot messed up.  It was still doing after I ran the update.  I never know when I can and can't use my phone.
I was all ready to go get a Note 2 but do not want to lose the unlimited date even if we only use 6 gb combined right now.  You never know when you will start using more esp if I got the Note 2.  But...I hate to try and put out $700 right now.  And I do not know how it is handled if I buy one off of EBAY even if the one I buy is new. So I am in between a rock and a hard place.  My contact at my store thinks I should get another refurb and wait out till more details come out about this program to see if it will help me.  Any additional advice is wanted and appreciated.

Ahh. We can still help find the culprit, TeaParty14. Do you have any 3rd party applications installed to play your music? Are you able to hear any audio if you plug the headphones back into the phone instead of rebooting? Any audio for calls through the phone direct or through speakerphone?
