Gmail's Apple-Mail-To-Do's no longer appear under Reminders

I use gmail as my mail utility (set for IMAP).
Before the upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.7, my To Do's appeared in Apple Mail under Reminders > To Do > Gmail. They also appeared in iCal. On my iPhone they appeared in the Apple Mail To Do folder. If I added a new To Do, everything synced.
The other day, all of my gmail folders temporarily disappeared from Apple Mail, however, they began to automatically re-appear over several hours. (A problem with a gmail server?) (BTW, before this occurred I noticed lots of activity under "Mail Activity", copying To Do's between gmail and my mac, even though I had no recently added, edited, or deleted a To Do.)
All is restored, except my To Do's no longer appear in Apple Mail under Reminders > To Do > Gmail. (My To Do's still appear on my iPhone under Apple Mail To Do, and they still appear in Apple Mail under Gmail > Apple Mail To Do.)
If I add a new To Do (by highlighting Gmail under Reminders > To Do, then add the new To Do) the new To Do fails to appear in my "Apple Mail To Do" folder and thus can't be viewed on my iPhone.
All I want is to be able to track a list of To Do's on my Mac (in both iCal and Mail) and on my iPhone.
Help!

UPDATE:
Hmm, well it seems to have recreated the weird folder 'ToDos.mbox (Server)' (that is the name of it on the server).
I have successfully moved my to dos from Apple Mail To Do to ToDos.mbox, so now my question is, as I have deleted Apple Mail To Do and just have the oddly named one, how do I get Apple Mail to rename it and use a more user-friendly name like it used to. Basically I just want it back to being called 'Apple Mail To Do'. (Renaming it on the server will just confuse Apple Mail again.)

  • Some notes no longer appear under Reminders Notes in Mail

On upgrading to Snow Leopard it appears that around 50% of my notes no longer appear under the Reminders>Notes heading in the Mail sidebar.
I keep various notes in other folders – such as passwords/login details in their own specific folder – but in Mail on OS X 10.5 notes, regardless of where I'd moved them to, would all also appear in the Reminders>Notes section.
In 10.6 this no longer seems to be the case. Is anyone else also experiencing this? Is this change intentional? is it a bug? or is there a preference I have not been able to find to control this behavior?

    Reese,
do you have LabVIEW installed on a network drive or is your LabVIEW Data folder write protected or is your LabVIEW data folder on a network drive?
I can't think of another reason why the icon editor doesn't show any glyphs/templates.
However, I have attached two zip files. One contains the glyphs and the other one the templates that are installed by default.
If you go ahead and unzip those to
C:\Documents and Settings\*** FILL IN YOUR WORKSPACE HERE ***\My Documents\LabVIEW Data
(Unzipping both should result in two new folders withint the LabVIEW Data folder. One is called Glyphs and the other one Icon Templates
you will see the glyphs and the templates the next time the icon editor is launched.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
Pls let me know if that works for you.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks

I cannot add Gmail to Apple Mail in Mavericks.  I have tried adding it as a Google account AND as an "other" account.  I have tried manually filling in the settings, using the instructions from Gmail's website:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    imap.gmail.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL:Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS
    smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Use same settings as incoming mail server
I have tried with both part 465 and prt 587 for the outgoing mail server.  Still, it tells me, "There was a problem setting up the account."

  • Using Gmail with Apple Mail.

Has anyone else encountered strange behaviors retrieving your gmail through Apple Mail. The issue I'm having is it seems to pull in the last couple days worth of email every time I open apple mail to check my mail. Pretty annoying when you get a lot of email. Any suggestions?

Couldn't wait. Found it under Preferences -> Accounts -> Advanced.
I changed it from One Week (the default ? ) to One Day.
    That should help.
I have my Apple Mail program set to FORWARD every message that comes into Mail to a Gmail address, and on Gmail I have preferences set to reply to all messages from the email address they are sent to, so my email that goes to Mail generates replies that look like they come from Mail.
Allows me to keep a record of all emails I receive.

That says Reset Documents and Data, not Contacts.
I want you to go to www.icloud.com, login and see how many contacts are there, because they are all the iCloud contacts. Any contacts that are not there, are not on iCloud.

    ChrisK21,
Make sure your settings match up with this:

if wouldn't hurt to delete the account entirely and just re-set it up in preferences.

I am having trouble sending email through Gmail using Apple Mail.  I have entered the correct password thorugh the two step verification from Google and the Connection Doctor says that I'm connected to the IMAP and SMTP, but I get the error that my email address was rejected by the gmail server.
    Any thoughts?

Google has instruction posted for setting up your iPhone with gmail. I followed these directions and it worked perfectly.

  • In Apple mail, the attachment symbol does not appear in the list of sent items

In Apple mail, the attachment symbol does not appear in the list of sent items. So you cannot sort sent emails based on whether or not they have an attachment. Is there a way to fix this?

I think my question wasn't clear. I know how to display the attachment header (I use classic layout) but the problem is that the paperclip icon does not appear against the messages that contain attachments. See screenshot below. The attachment column is displayed but is blank. These are my sent items and I know for a fact that most of them have attachments. Can you help?

  • Gmail Google Apple Mail Set Up Problem

I have had my Gmail POP account working successfully for about a year. I recently switched my internet provider and since then I can not get Apple Mail of my Jabber iChat account to work.
The problem I get with Apple mail is: Connection Failed The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "pop.gmail.com" on port 995 timed out.
The iChat message is: Could not connect to Jabber. Could not connect to host talk.google.com
I sent many emails to Google showing them my set up and they could not help. They said I should contact my internet provider.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix this?
    Thanks, Nick

My new ISP provider which is ERSnet.net could provide now help. I am forced to use them because of my stupid apartment complex. I miss comcast Anyway, ERSnet.net say everything Apple Mail should work but they admitted that no one at the company understands or uses Apple Computers. Their website www.ersnet.net has a section for FAQ which is pretty bad as well.

  • Gmail in Apple Mail. Messages to self don't go to inbox..

Hi. I have a gmail account that I access using Apple Mail. It is IMAP
I frequently CC or Blind CC myself on outgoing messages.
Most of the time the messages appear in my inbox when I check mail. Sometimes (1 out of 3) they do not appear in the inbox. They do appear in the Gmail>All mail folder and in Gmail on the web.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

The problem is that Gmail moves "deleted" messages to the All Mail category.   The trick to avoiding having 3 copies of a message in your client (Apple Mail, iPad, iPhone, etc) is to configure Gmail's IMAP settings.   Go to Settings-->Labels and look at the right side where it offeres a series of checkboxes labeled "Show in IMAP".   You can turn the various labels off or on to control which messages ("mailboxes") your IMAP client app will see.   At a minimum, you probably want to have just Inbox, Sent Mail, Drafts, and Trash.    Maybe Spam if you want to manage that on your cllient in addition to the Gmail web interface.   The key one to turn OFF is the "All Mail" label.
This is not a new "problem" in Lion... Gmail's IMAP has been this way all along.   But I do believe that Apple Mail in Lion auto-configures itself for Gmail so perhaps you're now seeing the problem for the first time.

  • How to retrieve deleted gmail in apple mail.

During the process of deleting thousands of emails in apple mail, I accidentally deleted all the email.  Can this be undone or can I retrieve those deleted emails?   The trash has been emptied.

In the mailbox list, below the word "MAILBOXES" and the standard mailboxes (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, & Junk), you should have some lines like "SMART MAILBOXES", "REMINDERS", "RSS", "ON MY MAC", and a line with the name of each of your mail accounts. Each of those lines may have subordinate lines indented below it, or they may be hidden. Before Lion, the top-level lines would have standard disclosure triangles to their left like folders, but Lion Mail removed that visual clue in favor of a word "Show" or "Hide" to the right that appears only when you mouse over it.
The Gmail Spam folder you seek is two folders deep inside your Gmail account.
    Here's my Gmail account listing:
It has 41 unread messages. If I hover my cursor over the oval with "41" in it, the oval shifts left and "Show" appears. If I click on "Show", I get this:
If I click on the disclosure triangle left of the "[Gmail]" folder, voila!
By the way, this intermediate "[Gmail]" folder is specific to Gmail, Google Apps mail sites, and other mail sites using Google's Gmail code, as is the All Mail folder. Other servers will have their own folder structure.

  • Gmail vs apple mail

I use gmail as my default email. However, when I'm using gmail and I click on a email link, it always brings up apple mail. Anybody tell me how to make it ignore apple mail and choose gmail instead? Thanks!

Are you using gmail in a browser? If so you need to begin using a desktop client, such as Apple Mail, to begin managing your gmail account. After you do so you can manage which client it opens in Mail preferences but your browser is not an option.

  • Password protect gmail in apple mail

I was wondering if there's a way to make Apple Mail ask for the password when retrieving new mail from gmail. It always requires a password for hotmail. Not sure why there's a disparity.

Use Software Update to update your os and anything else that needs to be updated.  You could be missing a Mail update.  Your profile shows you are still using 10.6.7.
