Gmail security on BIS and gmail app
Hello everyone,
I'd like to ask few questions about the gmail app (probably not the right place) and using gmail on BIS (so bb's native client).
First of all I'd like to know if the data i send thru bis using the phone's mail configuration is encrypted till server, as far as i understand the route is blackberry ==> Provider ==> BIS ==> google servers ==> BIS ==> Provider ==> blackberry, now, are my password and mails encrypted during all this? I mean is it all encrypted even after it passed thru bis?
Second, if anyone knows I'd like to know what gmail app does (m.google.com/mail) regarding encryption, i see in its settings "always use secure connections" that should mean its all encrypted according to google policies right?
Last, if i used the gmail app (google's) would i still need a BIS subscription or just an internet connection would be fine?
Reason i want to know is that Blackberry's mail may be a little more comfortable for me due to slow connection but i'd still want to be safe, only thing i noticed is that BIS logs into my gmail account (pretty normal tho).
I see this has been discussed in the past but there was never a definitive answer and i think (not tried though) that packet sniffing wouldnt bring me one either.

Single form for secure zone registration and web app submission?

Is it possible to setup a form where a user can simultaneously register for a secure zone and submit a web app entry? The knowledge base / tutorials describe a two step process (web form for secure zone registration and web app input form for web app submission), but I would like users to be able to do both with a single form

mlsIn order to have a customer create a web app item they must be logged into the secure zone already. I've seen some instructions on how to let users submit web app items outside a secure zone but that requires creating a dummy anonymous user and logging them into the secure zone via javascript. You could use this method and once it's submitted you'll have to manually attach the web app item to the correct user in the BC Admin. That might not work for you but you can read more about that at http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1784
You can't use the above solution with the current user's username and password because those tags are only available when the user is logged into a secure zone already. If your signup form needs to be filled out first, the user isn't logged in.
Your best bet is to have the public signup form redirect the user after submission to an "Add item" form you have created. Maks sure that form is in a secure zone so when they add the item it is attached to their account.
If you don't want to redirect them to a secure zone and want it more seamless you could try to use some javascript/ajax to submit the form via javascript and after the form is submitted, use the javascript code in the above to log them in (be careful to use the https://yoursite.worldsecuresystems.com url if you are passing username and password info gathered from your form to log them in via javascript/ajax). Once they are logged in via the javascript you can use more ajax to fetch a page's HTML that resides in a secure zone. This HTML returned from the javascript can be your "add web app item" form and since they were logged in via javascript (securely, right?) this HTML should contain the right information. Insert this returned HTML into your form container that held the original signup form and they can continue to add a web app item without having to log in.
This is theory and might work but you'll have to start experimenting with it via javascript. I haven't actually tried to do this so hopefully some other community members who might have tried this can weigh in here as well.

I owe money and the billing information is telling me that my security code is invalid. If i get money in my account, will i be able to put in my security code again and purchase apps and music again?
Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill ? If it's not then that might be the reason that you are getting the security code error : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.

Enhanced Gmail plugin and google Apps
I had the enhanced plugin got my BB working with a Gmail account. I migrated to a google apps account, and now, I have to manually configure the account in BIS and I also do not have my enhanced gmail capabilities..does anyone know if I can get this functionality back?

Unable to run native iOS7 Mail app and Gmail app at same time on iPhone 5s
Got a new iPhone 5s. Installed the Gmail app, it collects mail just fine. BUT I'd like to run the native Mail app that came on the phone at also, as a backup...just in case. The native Mail app keeps telling me that either the username or password are incorrect. Anyone with help to fix this would be appreciated. Thx.
That would be a gmail issue. From other threads there is a two-step verification when using gmail..Log into your account on a browser and double check the security.

Yes tried resetting the wifi connection and problem still persist.
Here it is...to make it clear. Connected thru the same wifi at home...
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook WEBSITES are working fine and fast when using/accessing thru a browser (chrome/samsung browser) - no problem with this.
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook APP is soooooo sloooww (thru the App). Slow I mean comparing it to using their browser/websites... news feeds/emails refreshing so quickly but not when using the APP installed in Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Slow like - It will take around 5-10minutes just to get your emails and news feed refreshed.
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN CONNECTED THRU A WIFI which has a speed of 10-20mb. It is not happening when connected to the network data/plan.
My wife has the same Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (coming from different provider at&t) - same setup (emails, fb app), same wifi connection, but she's not experiencing anything like it.
Not sure why, I dont want to believe that while connected to a WIFI, Verizon is restricting anything and ******* me off to make me switch to my data plan connection everytime - which is Unfair!
Was there a known issue similar about this case?

iphone4s built-in email is frustrating because it does not allow for replies to incoming mail; deletions and archiving, composing new mail, et al., as gmail does.. is it possible to disable or eliminate iphone email app and sub for gmail app, which i use regulary, just as i do on my laptop?
if not, what alternative solutions exist?
thanks very much.,In the native iOS app, if you set the default behavior to send a deleted message to Trash, you can still Archive it by moving it to "All Mail" in the same way you can move a message to any other folder.
As for the GMail app, I don't see a need for it but I suppose it depends on what you want. You can have multiple GMail accounts set up on your device with the iOS Mail app, but if you want a quick way to switch between accounts you can use the GMail app for a particular account and iOS Mail for another. Beyond that I don't see any advantage to the GMail app, other than maybe a priority Inbox. The iOS Mail app can do push notifications for GMail if you set it up as an Exchange account (see below), so they're equivalent in that regard.
Since you're a GMail user, you might want to delete your GMail account in iOS settings and re-create it as an Exchange account. That way you get push notifications, and your GMail contacts automatically remain synced between GMail and your device (over the air, no need to re-sync to iTunes). One caveat though: When you set GMail up as an Exchange account, the default behavior of deleting a message is Archive (even though the button will say Delete). To change this default, the only way is to use your iPhone's Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync after you set up your Exchange account on your iPhone. There you can change the behavior to actually delete a message when you tap Delete. Other than that little task (a one-time thing) you'll be set. -
i downloaded the GV app to my iphone but i'm trying to set up the app and it says it can't connect to google when i try to sign in to my google account.... any ideas what's wrong? i can access my gmail account just fine with my gmail app on the same phone

Gmail app - POP and IMAP together
I'm having a heck of a time getting my emial to work like my blackberry did. I want to make this work.
Does anyone know if I can configure my laptop Outlook to pull my gmail app mail using POP AND my phone to use IMAP??
I don't like the IMAP performance in Outlook.

~ KWhilst you can use IMAP for one mail client and POP for another, it won't give you very satisfactory results...Whilst you can choose to have the POP client leave the mail on the server, it will then show up as new when picked up by another client (or even the same one again) rather than as having already been read.
Gmail POP behaves differently than other POP mail servers. In my case, I have it configured such that downloading the mail with the POP client moves the mail from the Inbox to All Mail. For me, since I usually access mail via my iPhone, it allows me to leave things 'to be dealt with' in my Inbox on the phone, then when I access them on my Mac to 'deal with' them, they are moved out of my Inbox automatically.
For me, this is a highly satisfactory workflow.
But in general, you're correct - and I certainly wouldn't consider accessing my Gmail account from more than one POP mail client. -

I take it that you know the processor in the iMac G4 is not upgradeable. It's soldered to the logic board. The 20" iMac G4 had the fastest process of any G4 iMac--1.25Ghz-- so you're maxed out there.
Do "About the Mac.." from the the Apple menu to see how much RAM is installed. Sluggishness can be due to too little RAM.
Sluggish performance can be a too full hard drive. Single click your hard drive's icon then do command i to see the values of Capacity, Available, and Used. the space Available should be no less than 10-15 percent of the vaule under Capacity.
For comparison, I have a G4 tower with a single 1.25Ghz processor and the same bus speed and video RAM you have, and it is not at all sluggish with anything other than Office 2008, which is sluggish all by itself. My G4 has 1.75G RAM and a bunch of free space on the hard drive. -
Why is my mail saying "cannot get mail - user name or password for Gmail is incorrect" but on the Gmail app there is no problem. I have checked the settings and everything seems to be ok

This is probably not the answer to all your questions, but I am sure it answers some.
Unlike Word and InDesign, FrameMaker's anchored frames, which hold graphics, "hang" from their insertion points, typically at the end of the paragraph. An anchored frame that follows a paragraph is set to be below the line, the line being the last line in the paragraph. If you turn on View > Text Symbols, you will see a marker that indicates the point from which the anchored frame is hanging.
If the anchored frame is taller than the available space, it is moved to the next page ALONG with that last line. If the paragraph style/tag has a widow/orphan lines number that is more than 1, then that number of lines are also moved to the next page, because the paragraph tag says to keep that many together, EVEN if there is space at the bottom of the previous page.
So, you can set the widow/orphan lines number smaller OR as you have done put a blank line before the anchored frame, which now holds the marker for the anchored frame, and set its font size to 2 pt (the lowest FrameMaker allows) and its line height to zero. This is the standard workaround UNLESS you use the line above the anchored frame as the title/caption of a figure, which is also a typical way of dealing with FrameMaker's ways.
To my knowledge, one cannot change the default of the checked cropped box. Maybe others know of some way to change this.
There is no page break in FrameMaker, hence there is no symbol for it. In the paragraph designer for the paragraph, you set to Start of the paragraph to Top of page. Top of page is FrameMaker's equivalent to a page break. To "remove" a page break, set the Start of the paragraph to Anywhere.
Since you are new to FrameMaker, I suggest reading throught the User Manual that comes with FrameMaker. You will likely find the answers to most of your questions there.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account") -

I used to have an Android Phone. I set up a gmail account for the express purpose of having my work emails forwarded. It worked perfectly and I could enable the 'send as' feature so it was still coming from my work email address, not my gmail. I switched recently to the Nokia Lumia Icon which is a great phone other than one annoying feature.
Despite many efforts, I cannot seem to get the gmail 'send as' feature on the gmail app to work. In fact, I haven't even ticked the box that says 'use the same user name and password for sending email' yet it still sends from my gmail - which is odd, but better than nothing.
Is this because I have multiple aliases set up on gmail? Do I need to delete all but the one I really want by going to gmail on my computer and doing it this way?

JeffNot sure what 'the gmail app' is you refer to but the built in (OS) mail client has only basic support for gmail as Google basically stripped out everything that allows proper support on other platforms (read WP) such as Exchange Active Sync. That leaves you with straight IMAP support for your gmail accout for mail.
There's a whole bunch of gmail apps in the store and THIS seems to be top dog but I do not use gmail myself so I would not know. These are not apps made by either MSFT or Nokia so you should address any issues you might have with the app developer. If you have issues with a specific app it would help to know which.

It appears that the gmail app doesn't support this. I enter my password and instead of asking for the authorisation code it just says 'login failed'. I can use the browser version fine although its pretty ugly. Does anyone know if there is planned support?For which phone is this?
