GMail - Send from Alternate Address?

Hello
Is there no way in BB10 to use the send from alternate address feature of a gmail account. On my old iphone when I sent a message it appeared to the receiver as if it was sent from a different e-mail address that I have set up in my gmail account preferences. However, this is not happening from my BB Q10. Is there a way to make this work on BB 10?

I would also love to know more on this topic as I wasn't able to solve it myself or googling around.

  • Send iCal Invite from Alternate Address?

My iCal invites in Lion keep sending from my .mac address (which I never use).  I want it to send from by 'send from' address, and I've changed that info in mail and iCal -- to no avail.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello all,
I sync Gmail account with iCal on my Mac, and with my iPhone and iPad. I can see all of my events on all of my devices without a problem, and can send calendar invites on everything but my iPad. Is there a way to add an event invitation option to my iPad's calendar application?
AFAIK MobileMe is the only way to send event invites. If you have a MobileMe mail account then a new 'feature' of iPad Calendar is activated which allows sending invites.
I don't know of any other way to do it.

  • GMail and using it to send from another address

I have 2 main e-mail addresses, 1 for work and 1 for personal. My Outlook at work uses POP to access both because my work e-mail does not support IMAP. So instead of using POP from my iPhone on those 2 accounts and ending up with some e-mail on my phone and some on my computer, I made a GMail account just for my iPhone. I have it set up so that both my main accounts forward to this iPhone account but retain the original so that my computer and my iPhone each have a copy. I decided to do this mainly because GMail will allow me to reply to e-mail sent to my 2 main accounts from those addresses and not the address for my iPhone. But when I've tried it, those e-mails still show up as being from my iPhone address and not from one of my 2 main addresses. Does that GMail feature not work when using GMail through a POP client? Or do I have some settings set wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I hope all this makes sense.

This does work. I have it set up on my iPhone. I forward my work email to a gmail account because my work does not have a server lever spam filter enabled. Don't get me started on the IT guys there!
    I am using gmail IMAP.

You have to make the changes per google's directions as it's already been posted here:

The next thing you need to is change some settings on your iPhone. In the mail settings, under IMAP account setting, use the name and address you want your response to be, not your gmail address. It took me a couple of dozen test emails to figure this one out.
I have not tried this on gmail's pop account and I don't think it will work. If you are using pop I'd suggest you follow what viali17 says about changing your outgoing mail server for that account.

  • How to send from alternate email address?

Along with my regular email address, I have a business email address that is forwarded to my regular account.
In Eudora, I used to be able to set up a new "Personality" that would allow me to send email using the business address, and have that show up in the "reply-to" field as well.
How can I do this in Mail ?

go to mail>preferences>accounts, select your email account, then in the email address field just below the description field, enter all the email addresses you would like to use as an alias, separated by a comma, then save. You will then be able to send from this email account with all the email addresses you keyed in.
Alternatively, you could set up a home email account and a business email account in Leopard Mail, and then have the ability to send/receive/view from one account to another
    hope this helps

  • After iOS 7 update email sends from an address that isn't set as default.

I have two gmail accounts. I have gmail 1 selected as default email in settings but when I open a new message from the main screen of email ( where you see all email accounts set up) it sends from gmail 2. The message has gmail 1 as the from address but when it is received it is from gmail 2. I have gone into setting and it still lists gmail 1 as default.
    Any ideas?

Just to clarify that should have said, my brother has the same ISP as me. Autocorrect butted in there.

  • Can i generically change the "send from" email address in mavericks 10.9.2?

I have my regular email address and another that I'd prefer to be sending from. That one doesn't have password as it's a simple forwarding email. Can I send from it? Can't see how without setting it up as full email address.

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send a message and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

  • Mac mail wont send from new address

I wonder if anyone can help me...I recently purchased a mac mail address for my girlfriend and i set it up. (anyone who has done this before will know that all you have to do is put your username and password in to set the @mac address up and all the rest is done for you). However, i can not send mail to her new address, nor can i send anything from her address. I can though send her mail on me.com, and i can also send and receive me.com mail from her mac. I have no idea what is going on. HEELLPP!!

I recently purchased a mac mail address
Are you sure it's a .Mac address, or is it a MobileMe address?
i can not send mail to her new address
Are you trying to send mail to that address from a different address, or from her own address?
What are the specific settings for the account (Incoming and Outgoing servers, port numbers for each, authentication method, and SSL status)?

  • IChat sends from 'wrong' address

    Hi
I have chaged my apple id, but i chat still sends from the old apple id.  any ideas?

    HI,
So we are talking iOS version of Messages.
On the device you can set Settings > Messages > Received At > Caller ID to the Apple ID
The Default as you set up on an iPhone is the iPhone's Number.
At the Received At spot you can add extra emails.
You seem to be saying that adding an extra email does not get iMessages whilst still on the Original ID as the Caller ID or rather if set to the New ID it "works" but setting the Original ID to "receive" cuts out the new ID as the Sender.
I tried this on one of my two iPhones (both 3GS versions)
One now has two of my Apple IDs showing in the Received At spot.
I then sent an iMessage from one ID to the other and the phone received it.
I then sent from the Main ID to "itself" so the phone would see that as well.
On th Phone they appeared as two separate conversations.
If I then send back from the new ID on that iPhone the Messages App on my computer reports it is in fact from the (new) Apple ID as this was set as the Caller ID
If I revert to the Old ID as Caller ID  and send the iMessages again the Mac version of Messages still says it came from the new ID.
Like you I would hope that iMessages to the iPhone Number or an Apple ID would be sent from the ID that got the iMessage.
What I sort of expected though was that the Caller ID setting would take precedence.
I was surprised when it did not.
What you will notice is that I have not started from a point when there are not conversations on my iPhone so I could pick the one that was using the "new" ID already.
I did not try Messaging someone new.
Also this conversation that was to the original ID (which was still in use on the other iPhone and Messages on the Mac) did not sync to those devices. (Or in fact back the iPhone doing the testing).
I also did not get Alert sounds played on the Mac Messages app when new iMessages arrived (separate issue)
It would seem it depends who you are in conversation with and which ID you started that conversation with and whether that conversation can be retained on the device.

  • Send Email from Alternate Address or at least Repl...

I'm coming from the world of blackberries, so pardon my frustration.  I've tried to find a solution for this and am coming up empty.  My situation:  I have a work email, however, it is a Pop account (nothing I can do about that).  I am out of the office a lot so I need to be able to have real time access to my emails (push).  I setup a gmail account for my work address then had my it admin forward all incoming mail to the gmail account... and just have my reply to address be my work email address.  Great on a blackberry.  Not so great so far on my E71.  Now when I try to send an email, it shows that it's coming from my gmail account vs my work account.  The only email that will let me do this is the gmail app, but unfortunately it doesn't have a method to notify me of new messages on the phone.
Is there an email client out there that will either let me customize the outgoing server credentials or include a different reply to address?
I like the look and integration of Nokia messaging (html, keyboard shortcuts, layout, etc).  All the rest just look like **bleep** from what I've tried (bunched sender name, title, non html email, etc.)  Am I just spoiled coming from a blackberry that had everything built in and just worked? Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

I talked with a tech today and he said I cloud is having problems which should be resolved shortly.
In the mean time I used the .me smtp server settings which allowed me to send mail.

  • TS3276 When I send an email, it sends from an address that isn't one of my email accounts.

When I attempt to send an email from my Apple mail, the "sent address" is an email address of mine that I have NOT created an account for through Apple mail.  All 3 are gmail accounts, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.  I have gone into my email preferences and deleted both accounts and re-added them, though I am still having the same problem.

In both cases, the default address is right.  However, upon receiving the email, it says the wrong address.  Thus, when people reply to my emails, I do not get it in my apple email, I have to sign in under the other (wrong) email address.

  • Mail sends from wrong address?

    Hi,
This problem has happened twice recently, and goes something like this:
I have a few accounts on Mail.
My main account ("A"), I use for most things. Today, I sent an email from "A". This email shows in the outbox for account "A", and shows at the top of the email as having been sent from "A"; but when the reply came back from the recipient, they had replied to account "B", and the original email shown attached to the bottom of this reply showed my email had actually originated from account "B".
Make sense?! Essentially I send the email from A, Mail shows this as having been sent from A, yet it has actually been sent from B.
    FRUSTRATING!
Any ideas how I can fix this? I use different email for personal/professional etc., and it's inappropriate for professional recipients to be getting my personal address.
    Thanks,
    Mike

I'm having this problem, and Erie's "information" is not helpful as advice.
I have a personal Gmail and my school account which is also administered by Google. Both would have the same SMTP server, obviously. Both worked fine with no errors when I used Thunderbird.
Bought a Mac, use Mail, now I'm getting professors responding to my personal emails.
In fact, slightly off topic, I'm finding that the much mythologized Mac is not nearly what it's cracked up to be. I've had recurrent extensions problems, permissions problems, network problems, have had to reinstall iTunes half a dozen times (because iPhone suddenly stops syncing) and yesterday the computer just wouldn't boot.
I'm entering this from my PC as I have to completely repair and reinstall the Mac from the system disc. I think Apple just does a better PR job controlling their flaws, and there is a much smaller pool of people to complain, and if you can afford and pay for a Mac, you probably can afford a Time Capsule, so it's easier to recover; and you feel justified in your investment, therefore you don't admit to anyone that you have Mac problems.
If I'm going to have computer problems either way, next time I'll have them on a $350 PC instead of a $900 Mac.

  • IMessages sending from email address after updating to iOS 8

Sorry if this has already been answered im struggling to find it..
so I updated to iOS 8 today.. And now my imessages are appearing to the other person as an email address. I went onto my message settings and at the bit where I can be reached my number and email are there.. even though my numbers greyed out its still got a tick next to its name.. And at start new conversations it's only my number.. I tried to untick my email but when I done this it I couldn't send iMessages. Any help appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Aimstaa,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with the way Messages, which are sent from your iPhone, are displayed on another device. It also sounds like your iPhone is configured correctly, so the other device will most likely need to update your contact information or try the troubleshooting suggestions in the article below.

  • Mail not allowing me to send from new Address

My email got migrated over to a new host.
The original host was a pop3.  the new host is an imap.
I set the new account up on Mail, it checks out perfectly, all settings verified when I created it.  receiving email perfectly but...  when I go to send a new email, it only shows my old email account in the "from" drop down menu.  I edited the smtp server list and even removed my old account.  I also deleted my com.apple.mail.plist and let it reset the preferences...  still no luck.  My new account does not show up in the drop down "from" menu, no mater what I try, so all my new emails are showing up in my old account's sent folder.  anyone had any issue or solution for this?
    thanks

The new account is provided by Media Temple.
all the settings are correct, i do know that for a fact, same settings are working perfectly on my iphone.
The old account and the new account are the same exact email address.  the email along with my website was migrated from Hostway, to Media Temple.
I have 4 accounts going into my Mail now.  the original one with this name, which emails I simply cannot afford to lose so I did not delete the account.  and 2 others. all of which I can see when I compose a new message in the "from" drop down menu.  The only one I do not see, is the brand new one that is the same email address as my first, but with completely different settings.  Maybe the simplest thing to do is to go change the settings on the original account to the new settings.  I was just afraid that doing so may wipe the emails from the old account.  Simply because the new imap won't see those on its server and think they don't exist... am I incorrect in that?

  • Why can't i send from .mac address?

on my iPad and iPhone my email is being sent from .me rather than .mac (which i would prefer).  can't seem to change it?!

    Does this help?
"Set the default email account: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > Default Account,
    then choose an account.
This setting determines which of your accounts a message is sent from when you
create a message from another iPhone application, such as sending a photo from
Photos or tapping the email address of a business in Maps. To send the message from
a different account, tap the From field in the message and choose another account."
