Gmail - Send Mail/Messages

Hello,
WHat is the difference between the Sent Mail Folder and the Sent Messages Folder on my Gmail accounts on my iPhone? I use IMAP.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, this is how I solved the problem you're describing a long time ago.
http://5thirtyone.com/archives/862
Basically, this link explains how to configure properly Gmail in Apple Mail and iPhone too.
Hope it helps, it's easy to understand and follow.
This other article instead is on my "to read" list since it came out, but I still have to find the time and guts to dive into it. It looks very complete and thorough.

SMTP send mail message is giving 'unkown mime version' error(error code 16500). The same mail server works when sending by Netscape mail.Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
There seem to be a bug in the OGIC_POP.llb\OGIC_POP_ListMessages.vi.
Or at least it needs customization to process the response from each mail server. If you open the diagram for this VI, you'll see that it is using the "+OK\s" regular expression to reach the end of the string before the msg-number, msg-size list. In your case, this string is "+OK 5 messages (6190 octets)"
You need to modify the diagram to skip this whole string. One easy way would be to use just "+OK" with the first Match Pattern fuinction and then use an "\r\n" and pass this to the true-case.
I am attaching a screenshot of this. And I have tested this to work fine -- I get the messages in the array.
    Hope this helps,
    Khalid

  • Write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]:

    Hi ,
I am getting the below error when scheduling a report which is larger in size in excel format.
write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]
The same error does not come up when sending the same report in XLS format using outlook.
Can some one confirm if this error is because of the size of the report as I see a different error in XIR2 incase the size the exceeds the email server limit.
    ~Neethi

    Hi,
    this could be
Maybe you have different limits for service smtp account (which the BO Server should use) and User smtp accounts.
Thats why you can sent it via outlook and not from the BO Server.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • Write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP

    Hi,
The below error messgage i am getting while scheduling report in CMC. My report getting refreshed successfully but while posting refreshed file(Excel) it is not posting and throwing below error.
    Error Message:
write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]
please provide some help on this.
    Thanks
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek
Mails to the destinations are delievered by SMTP server. Size of the file in the mail depends on the SMTP server.
For example, If SMTP server does not permit file size more than 2MB then that file won't be delievered.
For testing purpose copy the instance generated in Filestore to your local drive and send this instance using your mail client to
    desired destination.
You can try sending large size file from your mail client to test SMTP server capacity of sending large size file.

  • Reading send mail messages send via system

I have some programmes that send mail messages to people automatically bypassing the mail programme.
Is there a way to see what has been send? Like read the send messages?
    And delete them?
Probably a command in Terminal but I do not know what to type.
    Thanks

for phlink, i just found this in their faq:
Q: I do not receive voicemail messages by email. Why?
A: Make sure the name of your SMTP server is correctly set in the Phlink's preferences window. The SMTP server you should use is the same SMTP server you use for your ordinary email, as set in your email client application. If your SMTP server requires authentication, make sure you have entered the correct username and password in Phlink's preferences window.
so there may be no trace of messages sent. it seems to act as a client, sending mail through your designated smtp server.
also, it saves a log in ~/Library/Preferences. for details, check this thread:

  • Sending Mail- Messages Errors

My mail was working fine and then suddenly I get error messages saying "The message could not be delivered and will remain in your outbox until it can be delivered. The server "smtp.mac.com" refused to allow a connection on port 25."
The message never gets delivered and sits in my outbox! What can i do? I have mail version 2.1 . Maybe I downloaded a new version of mail? I have no idea.
    Can you help?
    Lee

Your ISP may have started blocking port 25 as an anti-spam measure. You will need to change the port you using to send mail. Try port 2626 or 587 instead.
To change the port in Mail:
Mail > System Preferences > Accounts > (choose the email account you need to change the port on) > Advanced
The port setting is at the bottom of the Advanced tab window.

  • Apple Mail 7.1 (1827) Slow to Send Mail Messages

Apple Mail 7.1 delays the sending of messages from iCloud or third-party ISP mail accounts by 20 to 30 seconds. While this behavior is not 100% consistent, it is reproducible 70% of the time.
Restarts or quit & relaunch Mail.app has no impact. Apple Mail has had all night to sync my two accounts (1 iCloud account and 1 third-party ISP account)
No error messages are thrown, all mail does send successfully, eventually.
This problem occurs on both my Apple MacBook Pro 2.7 i7 mid– 2012 and 2.6 Mid-2012. One had a fresh copy of Mavericks installed and the other had an update from Mountain Lion.
Synchronization has been performed, as well, the rebuild command has been executed.
The behavior also occured during an attempt to investigate the issue when a Mail account (in this case, a friends iCloud account) was installed into a newly created computer user account (standard or admin)
Clearly, not the most serious problem to have but one that merits discussion and eventual resolution.

I am having the same issue with Mail 7.1 (1827).  I have looked at all of the alternatives, but keep coming back to Mail.  Airmail Beta, however, was outstanding.  Write an email click send and it's gone like a rocket!  If they keep developing, they will give Mail a run for the money.
That said, I like the search abilities in Mail and the smart folders.  I keep coming back.  Plus I like CMD+Shift+D to send.  If I am out at a wifi spot and do an email, I really don't like having to sit there waiting for Mail to decide wether it wants to send or no.  Perhaps I'll look at using alternative smtp ports?  Maybe Mail doesn't like using port 26? Whatever the case, I wish they'd fix it.

  • CANNOT SEND MAIL MESSAGE

I have two e-mail accounts on my iPhone 4. Occassionally, I get a message that reads "Cannot Send Mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient (address) was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying."
The recipients are always individuals to whom I have sent e-mails in the past with no problem (one was my boss!). After the message sits in the outbox for a while, it's sometime sent with no further problem. Anyone else experiencing something like this? HELP!

I am also in a similar boat.
Recently upgraded my phone (iphone4) to iOS 4.1
Now it only intermittently sends emails over 3G, often just sitting there with the spinny wheel and saying 'Sending' for ages, but is fine over wifi. Including wifi provided by my service provider, Vodafone, in the UK. SMTP settings match those provided by the provider (and I have even reconfigured my account on the phone to check), so there is no obvious reason for it not to work.
Anyone else seen this? It feels like the phone is somehow not quite connecting with the server properly and then timing out.

  • Gmail "send mail as" setting not working from iPhone

I added a second gmail account to Mail. This gmail account has the "send mail as" setting set to show a different "from" address than the actual gmail account, and works fine when I send mail from my desktop. When I send mail from that account through Mail on the iPhone, it does not pick up this setting and the actual gmail account appears as the "from" address. I don't see any place in Settings or Mail to set this, and I couldn't find previous discussions of it here. Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Anyone?

  • Gmail "Send Mail as" function in OS X Lion

I have been using this feature in previous versions of mail and it has all worked fine.  However, once I update to Lion, the feature ceases to work.  The drop down menu is still visable with all my email addresses, but the email is still only sent from my mail gmail account.  Is there a work around for this?  For those who do not know what I am talking about, the link for older versions of mac mail is below.

    Hello,
Back in December, in another Topic, it was explained to you how to search Mail Help to answer this very question. I just tested that method of managing alias addresses, other than those for a .mac, with my Gmail account, and it works.
Search Mail Help with the search argument of "Using email aliases in Mail". You can also search in Support with the same search argument, and find the same article. In both cases, there exhibits to make it clearer that describing only with text, here.
    Did you try this, previously?

  • Gmail: 'Send Mail As' IMAP, SMTP problems

    Hello,
    Here's the background:
I have a work email address that's automatically forwarded to my gmail account. I have it setup through Gmail to use my works outgoing SMTP server so whenever I send an email through my Gmail account it appears to be coming from my work account. It works fine.
It does not work on the Iphone. I have tried setting up Gmail through exchange, through the normal Gmail setup and inputting manually through the IMAP setup. In all 3 occasions my Gmail email address appears on outbound email and not my work email.
My last effort was to input a new IMAP account into the Iphone using my works email address, Gmails incoming IMAP server and my works outgoing SMTP server. All with SSL and different usernames/passwords.
Theoretically it should've worked. And it did, sort of.
I was able to download the Inbox from Gmail with no problems. And, I was able to send email with the above configuration but the emails just vanished. The never reached their intended destination.
My works email is setup using Godaddy's server smtpout.secureserver.net. All usernames, passwords, ports etc... are correctly entered.
    Any suggestions?

thnx for replying but the problem is that it does not show the emailadress that i chose to send from. When i click on the full name in "Sent Mail" it shows my primary email.
I want to see the emailadress i chose so i can check if I emailed with the correct address.
Lets say my primary email is: [email protected] and my secondary [email protected]
When i use [email protected] to send from it wont show this address in "Sent", it shows "From: My name" when i click on my name it shows [email protected] and not [email protected]
It did send it from [email protected] tho because when i log-in in webmail with [email protected] i see the email in "Sent Mail". And the inbox i sent the email to does see the emailadress i chose and the full name i use in Mail.app.
Idk if its possible to change this?
else i just have to stay using webmail if i want to use an other email to mail from.

  • Sending mail messages

We send out a newsletter 3x per week to 20,000+ members of
the association. CFMAIL tag is used to insert personal info for the
member in the newsletter and messages are correctly written to
    spool folder.
We have noticed timeouts occurring in other applications
while the messages are being sent out.
Currently number of mail threads is set to 10. We are also
logging each message sent as occasionally we need to verify if the
mail was sent to the email we have on record.
Has anyone experienced system performance problems when
    sending thousands of emails?
We also notice all log files are written to logs folder and
runtime folder. Is there a way to only log to 1 of these folders?
    Thanks for your help.
    Pam

There is a lot of processing going on, not to mention drive
activity and memory allocations. If you don't have a big system
then sending large quantities of email via CFMAIL will have an
    effect until it is done.
We had a similar issue years ago (we run 32,000+ mailers
daily) and decided it was just simpler to build a second small
server to just run the mailers each day so it did not affect the
primary server. Unless you want to build a honking massive
powerhouse, that is likely the answer that will best suit you too.

  • Get Cannot Send Mail Message

Every time I try to send an email from my IPhone I get the following message. "The server rejected one of the recipient's addresses. The message has been placed in your Outbox.". Does anyone know what the cause of this error is? I have verified the email addresses and they are correct. I have no problem receiving and reading email.
    Thank you.

This means the outgoing mail server for the email account is being blocked.
Who is the email account provider for the email account?
Most if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP unless the SMTP server is authenticated, and AT&T's cellular network is no different in this regard. This restriction is part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
I access two email accounts with the iPhone's Mail client and both email accounts have an authenticated SMTP server. I have a wireless network at home, and both email accounts are not provided by my internet service provider at home. I have no problems sending with either account regardless the internet service provider being used for my internet connection at the time - my wireless network at home, various other wi-fi networks that I have access to with different internet service providers, and when connected to AT&T's cellular network.

  • Gmail Sent Mail messages missing

I use Apple Mail for my GMail iMap account and I am suddenly missing the last 6 months Sent messages. Given that it's iMap, would it be safe to just delete the account and reenter it in the hope that the problem then just comes out in the wash.

    Thomas A Reed wrote:
Then your sent messages have not been saved on the GMail server, so deleting the account and re-creating it will not help. If that setting was changed recently, you may have them on the server, though, so log on to GMail via the web site and check to be sure.
As to where they went, I don't know. You could try rebuilding the mailbox (Mailbox -> Rebuild), but if that doesn't fix it, and they're not on the server, then you're out of luck unless you've got those messages in a backup. If you haven't been backing up, they're gone.
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. The reason I posted this under Apple Mail is because there is no problem at the GMail end, all the messages are there.

  • The ubiquitous 'cannot send mail' message

Earthlink is my provider; I checked the e-mail profile in my account and I verified it on my iPhone. Still get the message. This is recent (past week). I receive mail fine. By the way the outgoing mail server is 'smtpauth.earthlink.net'. Any ideas?

Since no one to date has answered let me tell you what Apple tech support had me do, after having me turn off the main outgoing mail server and turn on the AT&T server, which didn't work. He had me keep the primary outgoing server OFF and turn ON all the other four servers. That worked, but something feels weird about it. Am I wrong? Any downside?
