NOTE: the domain "iba-suk.edu.pk" is on google apps so it uses the same smtp/pop as GMAIL.

Thanks! Very comprehensive and easy to follow guide.
I followed it.
But im still unable to get it to work.
-Email send/rcv is possible to a freeware version of MAIL-ENABLE mail server by peoplesoft. But its not working for gmail.
-Email send/rcv to gmail (google app) account is also working fine from the server when using it thru Thunderbird email client or Outlook.
Some possible issues:
- i used the certificate from GMAIL.com (https://mail.google.com....) ; not Google Accounts ( https://accounts.google.com....)
- as in image 230.png of your blogpost; my root certificate name was not GeoTrust, it was Equifax Secure CA.
- i entered the password in all forms; plain, ciphered, ciphered with quotes, ciphered without {V1.1} tag...none worked
- i used PSCipher from another PS instance running on my desktop- as i do not have access to web-server and its folder on this setup

  • Suddenly can't connect to gmail SMTP for outbound mail

I have both a MacBook Air and an IMac. Recently, I lost the ability on both machines to send outbound mail. With Apple Care help on my supported machine (the MacBook Air,) we rebuilt my gmail mail account on that machine and was able to reconnect and send outbound mail. (receiving mail was never a problem)
However, going through all of the same steps on the IMac, it keeps saying :"Gmail (offline) next to Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) on the account information screen. When I run Connection Doctor, I have a red light next to Gmail SMTP with the message "Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."
Well, the username and password are correct. I just changed them, and can access Gmail from all of my other devices...MacBook Air, iPhone, IPad.
What is really odd it that is was working until about 3 weeks ago.
Any suggestions/ideas? I'm not particularly technical...just find this very frustrating and don't know where to turn.

No bad form to worry about, just the reduced attention to your problem that a solved designation causes.
If I remove my gmail account, I'll be able to get all the emails back when I create my new one - because it's imap?
    Yes, but check 2 things,
    1. That it is setup as Imap (POP is possible but is not the default) and 2 that you have not created any local folders that house mail from the Imap account, if you did then you must export them before removing the account.
What do you mean by verify both passwords? You mean imap and smtp?
I assume I should be using the application specific password in my mail settings?
    Thanks,
    Bob
Imap and SMTP should be the same, but check.

  • Gmail SMTP

Hello, I recently switched from using a browser based email on gmail.com, to using the POP server so i could use the mail app. I figured out how to recieve mail, but now i can't seem to send it. I checkout out my smtp settings, and put in the user name and password, but it still doesn't want to send, i keep getting the message saying that the server, smtp.gmail.com on server port 25 timed out. I can't seem to figure it out, if anyone could give me a hand, my technical know how on these things is limited.

Hello. The server port for Gmail should read 587 and not 25.
Log on to Gmail. Go to SETTINGS in the top righthand corner.
    Go to FORWARDING & POP
Click the Button to Enable POP.
#3 in that same box is "Configure your email client". Right below that line is the hypelink, Configuration instructions.
It has great directions and is very easy to follow.
    Hope this helps.

  • Gmail smtp mail server verification

I have lately upgraded to CF10 from CF9.
Just lately I have noticed that I cannot get gmail smtp mail server verification within CFAdmin.
I am using the same settings as before.  In fact, on an old machine using CF9 I still get mail server verification.
    MAIL SERVER: smtp.gmail.com
    USERNAME: [email protected]
    PASSWORD: xxxxxxxxxx
    SERVER PORT 25
x  Enable SSL socket connections to mail server
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I double checked the code and there are no server attributes in the cfmail tag.
I also went through the troubleshooting gmail page link, and noted that everything was set correctly already.

  • Internet accounts removes smtp settings

    Hi,
I made a clean install of the Yosemite. Started to add my Gmail and other email accounts. However, when I add the accounts from Settings/Internet accounts, the smtp settings were removed. I did everything, removing email addresses and adding again, checking files under V2 and etc.
The only solution was to add the email accounts and move the old databases files to V2 folder and never add anything else.
Do you have any idea why adding an email address to internet accounts on settings, removes other smtp settings?
    Thanks

I'll pass this along to all. I have the same smtp issue. I have two Cox email accounts and a number of Gmail accounts. The Cox smtp server goes offline. Gmail is fine. Yesterday I began pressing every button and the following worked, why, beats me.
Open MAIL got to MAIL PULLDOWN then PREFERENCES then ACCOUNTS then SELECT THE EMAIL ACCOUNT and look at ACCOUNT INFORMATION - now at the bottom hit the ARROW at OUT GOING MAIL SERVER (SMTP) which brings up a list of severs SELECT EDIT SMTP SEVER LIST. now this bring up a list of servers  HIT THE ADVANCED BUTTON which brings the properties of the highlighted server below. LOOK AT THE TWO PORT BOXES.
The first selection says USE DEFAULT PORTS (25 465 587)
The second selection asks you to ENTER CUSTOM PORT.
FOR COX: The Cox website says to use port 465. I SELECTED CUSTOM PORT AND ENTERED PORT 465 and exited Preferences AND IT WORKED!!!
    So far so good today.
I have no idea whether this has any relevance to the rest of you using other email servers so good luck.

  • Gmail SMTP won't save password

I just upgraded to 1.1.3 last week and since then my iPhone refuses to save the password for my GMail SMTP server. If I try to send mail it gives me an error saying, "No password provided for user '[email protected]' on server 'smtp.gmail.com'. Please go to to Mail Account Settings and enter a password."
If I go to settings and enter a password, it disappears the minute I leave the settings panel.
I've tried restoring my iPhone twice, plus deleting and recreating the Mail account on the iPhone itself, all to no avail.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I am receiving the same problem as well after updating to 1.1.3. My email worked just fine before updating. But after updating, I notice my passwords were missing and now every time I input the password again through the Mail settings. It automatically removes itself each time I go to check the mail to see if it works... now I cannot access email like I used to.
    Anybody with solutions? Thanks.

  • Thunderbird fails to gmail smtp - ssl_error_inappropriate_fallback_alert

I've a new install on an a work XP machine. The same install version on a home XP machine does not have the same problem with the same gmail accounts.
On the work machine with a clean install of 31.3.0 thunderbird, I cannot use gmail smtp services. Other smtp services to yahoo and my own domain work properly.
    The error log;
    Timestamp: 1/7/2015 8:01:35 AM
Error: An error occurred during a connection to smtp.googlemail.com:465.
The server rejected the handshake because the client downgraded to a lower TLS version than the server supports.
    (Error code: ssl_error_inappropriate_fallback_alert)
Following the guide for a firefox issue I followed the recommendation to modify the "security.tls.version.min"
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1038836
    For values 0 and 1, the same error log appears. For values 2 and 3 no error log is written to the error console yet sending mail still fails with;
    Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.googlemail.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator
    Any thoughts?

On the same work machine I can add the gmail account into MS Outlook, sending to googlemail.com:465 or gmail.com:465 work properly.
    Also tried switching Thunderbird to use ports 587 and 25. When using either of these ports thunderbird takes a minute, then fails to connect to the remote server. Error log get this written;
    Timestamp: 1/7/2015 8:34:31 AM
    Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIMsgMailNewsUrl.server]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///modules/activity/alertHook.js :: alertHook.onAlert :: line 48" data: no]
    Source File: resource:///modules/activity/alertHook.js
    Line: 48
I can't be certain if it is a corporate firewall issue or not. They may pinhole the ports when used by Outlook but block them from other apps.

  • Multiple email accounts auto sync no smtp settings transferred

I have about 7 email accounts set up in Mac Mail. When I sync these to my iphone the outgoing server (smtp) settings don't transfer and I need to type in each one for each separate account. Really quite a pain.
Anyone know how to make the outgoing server info sync over automatically so that it's the same as what I set up on the computer?
    Thanks

Hi, thanks.  They're not. One is a hotmail account and one a BTconnect. I can see what you're saying... the outgoing primary mail server in settings is set differently for each account.
The outgoing server for hotmail is set at smtp.live.com and the BTconnect is smtp.btconnect.com.
If I go into outgoing servers on the hotmail account it allows me to turn off all other servers listed, including the BTconnect one.  BUT when I go into the BTconnect one to turn off the hotmail one, it's greyed out and won't let me... very confusing/frustrating!

You might also try removing all gmail passwords from your keychain in Keychain Access. Then connect again and enter the password code given by Google.

After successfully configuring email, POP and SMTP server info becomes unavalible.
How can we setup the same email POP and SMTP on a new phone.
I'm trying to setup @LIVE.COM via yahoo. I was successful on a previous phone:
    pop.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    NO GO....................!
Sadly when I setup email via @LIVE.COM, MS did not provide POP nor SMTP and I was directed to use someone besides MS (Microsoft)

    Hey rommy88,
Thanks for the question. You are correct, the option to disable Voice Dial is located in Settings > Passcode (before iOS 7.1, it was located in Settings > General > Passcode). You can also choose to disable Siri access from the lock screen:
    Siri settings - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph634dd0e14
Prevent access to Siri when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone 5s) or Settings > Passcode (other models). You can also disable Siri by turning on restrictions. See Restrictions.
    Thanks,

  • Can't reset SMTP settings on account preferences - inactive/gray

    I hope you can help.
It looks like Mail was updated (great in theory, bad in practice), and now I can't send from Mail. I get the error message : "SMTP settings are not sete, please use Accounts Preferences panle to set SMTP options.
So, I dig out my incoming server, pop.mail.yahoo.com and my ourtiong mail SMTP server info: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
But when I go to Preferences/Accounts, it won't let me make any changes. All the fields are gray and inactive, except for "E-mail aliases" which I tried and nothing happened.
Help! All advice is greatly appreciated!
    Amy

    Amy,
First of all, I don't know what you mean by "Mail has updated"-- please explain? if you mean Mail has suddenly opened as though new, then you may have an issue with available free space on your hard drive, or if partitioned, on the boot partition. Check free space if this is what happened.
As for the grayed out entry info, it appears you proceeded into setting up the account in the Preferences with the Account Type set to .mac, which of course, is not what you would use for a Yahoo account.
    More info, please.

  • SMTP Settings in production environment

    Hi,
This is my first project in BPM. I want to know the way how - SMTP settings are managed in Production environment. My concern is if I want to deploy my proces on to some other engine, is there any way so that I do not need to manually set the SMTP settings for new engine.

I created external resource for SMTP server, which gets deployed with process & can be changed from Enterprise. I used this external resource while sending an email from my process.

  • ISP vs. Webmail SMTP settings on email setup

    Afternoon,
For no discernable rhyme or reason, when eFusion based email addresses (connected to a newly built website post-launch) are being setup on clients computers/various devices, the outgoing mail server setting has to be set as their ISP's mail server and not the suggested (as per the setup guide @ http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/kb/email-configuration-guide6.html) mail.clientsdomainurl.com in order to work.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern of whether the mail services are actually run through adobe, or if its another 3rd party or exhange server in-house.
What are you experiences or advice in how to determine if the ISP smtp will be required, or even why it would be required for email hosted by BC to work?
    Thank you

Some ISP's will not allow the relay of outgoing email to another SMTP address (perhaps to stop spammers sending remotely through their servers). The use of the SMTP address provided by your ISP is usually fine as there's no operational relationship with your incoming mail server. It's more a pain when you are on mobile, moving between ISPs in different regions, and having to update your SMTP settings on the go.
