Gmail stopped working in mac mail

I have three gmail accounts  I read them in Mac mail.  One account just stoped working the other two work fine.  I tried everything to fix it &  even changed my gmail PW  on the website. Nothing has worked. Any ideas?  I was on he phone with Apple Care for 2 hrs before they told me to call Google.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I always check the recent detail for a particular service at www.downrightnow.com before jumping to conclusions.
Major internet service providers often have brief minor 'outages' that may affect a few accounts or users.
And of course, they also have the occasional major 'outage' that makes the daily news.
Usually downtime is because of an 'oops': someone on their end typed in a parameter wrong, updated the wrong file, restored the wrong backup, or pulled the wrong plug.
Since you can apparently still access the affected account directly via your browser, wait a few hours or a day and see if it is working properly again tomorrow.

  • Magic Trackpad - 2 finger scrolling has stopped working in Mac Mail - works in Safari

    Hi,
I've been happily using a Magic Trackpad for a couple of years but just recently the two finger scrolling has stopped working in Mac Mail. It still works fine in other apps eg Safari so this seems like a very odd problem ie I can't imagine you can configure it to work in one app and not another! Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Thank you merleau.  I had the very same problem and found your solution perfect. This helped me tremedously.

  • Gmail Not Working with Mac Mail

Just this afternoon my 2 gmail accounts stopoped pushing mail to my Mac Mail (7.0). I can send mail from my Mac, my iPhone sends/receives on both accounts, as does my gmail when used with any browser. There has been no change in any settings that would cause any issues, so out of the blue I just don't receive emails on my Mac. I read some threads about appliction specific passwords but that seems unlikely as a cause since it just stopped working today, and as far as I can tell there was no change in my computer or google that would necessitate such a change on my end.

Just to upodate, out of the blue one of the accounts started receiving mail - the other still does not. I'm not sure if this is a google issue or more likely a Maverick issue, as some other odd behavior has occured with mail since upgrading the OS a week ago.

  • Gmail stopped working on any mail client.

I have had Mail using a gmail account for the last 7 years.  In the last week, on two different machines, I am not able to get gmail to download or send.  I have tried Postbox, Airmail and Mac Mail - same thing.  Just seems to hang.  The web interface works just fine, and I can get iCloud through these clients.  I've tried going back 4 months ago when things were working fine, but still no luck.  Gmail just crawls.
I've checked the web for outages and there seem to be random outages here and there, but this has been a constant since the middle of last week.  Any suggestions would be helpful.
I'm running Mavericks with all updates, and have checked, rechecked, deleted and added the account more times than I care to admit.

    Hi,
Just wanted to say I found out the answer. I should have looked first to see if anyone else was having the same problem but I didn't.

  • Imap gmail stopped working

my imap gmail stopped working on both my wifes ipad and my iphone sometime this evening 10 july 2013. says cannot connect to imap server and recommends checking settings.  i noticed a similar problem occurred once in 2012.  Is Apple working on this?

IMAP stopped working on mine as well as two of my employees Macs. Two Google Apps Business accounts and one regular Gmail account. Gmail was down this morning so it might have something to with it. However, accessing mail through the web interface works fine. So something to do with IMAP.

  • Hotmail stopped working in Apple Mail - PLEASE HELP

My Comcast and Gmail accounts work great in Mail. But I keep getting the following error when setting up my free Hotmail account:
"The POP server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable."
It allows me to click through but then when trying to sign onto my account I get this error:
"The server returned the error: The server “pop3.live.com” refused to allow a connection on port 995."
I am using the following settings:
    http://lifehacker.com/5169684/hotmail-finally-enables-pop3-worldwide
I've checked with my ISP and they say they're not blocking any ports, my firewall is turned off, I get this same type of error when setting up Hotmail on Thunderbird on my Mac. I can sign on just fine on other computers mail clients in my house and I have no problem signing in via the web.
I've been having this problem for about 3 months now. My thought is that there's something internally telling the necessary ports to block all traffic but I'm stumped on how to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I only have a Hotmail account for testing to help others, but in general it has worked fine. However, yesterday and today, it keeps prompting for the password, so I deselected to include when automatically checking, and have only been using Get Mail manually, which works.
Snow Leopard appears to check often and regularly on the status of the connection to servers -- I am wondering if Hotmail is finding this objectionable?

  • GoDaddy won't work in Mac Mail

    Hi guys,
mac Mail is doing my head in!!! I launched a website for my business using GoDaddy as my hosting and I'm trying to add my account to mail but nothing works. I've been on the phone to godly and they went through all possible solutions and came to the conclusion its an apple problem. They said apple mail might have a specific port that I need to use for an external client or something like that? Anyone got any help? I can;t get a hold of anyone from apple, their support is useless unless you pay for it!!

I posted this problem a couple of days ago. I have 50 or more groups, some with several hundreds of names & these groups no longer import. I have gone to apple genius bar & they are clueless. Apparently apple opted to make maverick work for gmail but now it won't work for mac mail.

  • Gmail stopped working...Now what?

I am not trying to get a quick answer without reading the forum. I am just trying to figure out what to do without going through trial and error multiple times. I got my iphone a little less than a week ago. I had gmail all set up and now it just stopped working. What is the best way to get it working again?
I already tried going through the set up process the exact same way I did on the initial set up. Going to "other" and proceeding from there. After reading some of the recent posts, do I now go to "Gmail" and follow the set up from there? At a loss as to what to do.
I'm windows XP if that matters.
    Much thanks.

Nah, I use the phrase "sanity check" all the time when talking my customers through things. I meant it as a quick/easy think to check before going off into other troubleshooting directions.
Here's are two links regaring setup of Gmail accounts on your iPhone (from Google):
    POP -- http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=72454&topic=12810
    IMAP -- http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77702&topic=12814
I do not know if those will be of any benefit to you as you seem to have already been able to go through the setup process several times. But maybe they'll point out something else.
I can empathize with you, because just yesterday when I updated to 1.1.3 the first thing I noticed was my Gmail stopped working. (And Allan did try to help me out there too!)

  • The gmail stopped working in the ipad; when i touch the screen nothing happens, other apps are working

THe gmail stopped working; when i touch the screen nothing happens, cannot use any funtion with gmail, but other apps work normally

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset
If it is the gmail app you are using, you might also try deleting and reinstalling it. If you are using the built in iOS mail app, you can try deleting and re-adding the gmail account.

  • PSE 13 solves "Error: Licensing has stopped working" on MAC OS X 10.10.2?

After some years using my reliable PS8 I've got this nasty message and I am unable to work since then.
I've been working on solving the "Error: Licensing has stopped working" on MAC OS X 10.10.2 for a while without success.
Does PSE 13 solves the problem? I just want to be sure that if I buy the new version it is going to work or if I am going to lose another US$ 99 on a piece of software that requires more "MAC OS X" expertise than I have.
Any help, clue or piece of advice is welcome.

Thank you, but it is exactly the paper I've been trying to follow.... I can't go through solution 2 because I got an error when using “sudo python “.
After trying for some days I am thinking about buying the newest version (PSE 13), I just want to be sure I am not going to have the same error.... ;-)

  • Account doesn't work on Mac Mail but does on iPhone

I have a IMAP email account with my company that works on my iPhone and in Entourage but doesn't work in Mac Mail. I have tried to copy the settings and even did a full erase and reinstall of Leopard and no one has an idea why it won't work, the hosting company or Pro Care. Any idea out there?

No idea what  "My apple ID account doesn't work on my itunes but it does on the web" means.
    Please explain

  • Gmail stopped working

My gmail stopped working on my phone Thursday or Friday, and I didn't realize it until afer work. When I press the "Sync all" button under settings-wireless-accounts and sync and try to sync them. it doesn't work. I've restarted it a hundred times and have tried several things. Help!!

    Hey,
Sorry to hear your Gmail stopped syncing with your device.  I had this to happen with my Calendar, but fixed it.  Here is what Google recommends:
    Press your device's < Home > button, then press < Menu >.
    Select Settings.
    Select Applications, then Manage applications.
Select Gmail and then select Clear data. Answer OK when prompted.
Return to the list of applications by pressing the < Back > button on your device.
    Select Gmail Storage.
Note: If you don't see 'Gmail Storage,' press < Menu > again, then select Filter > All. On some devices, you won't see 'Gmail Storage.' It is fine to ignore this step if it doesn't apply.
Select Clear data. Answer OK when prompted.
Restart your device. Press and hold the < Power > or < End call > button, then select Power off. Press the < Power > or < End call > button to power on.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • Why do gmail users recieve my mac mail signature in grey font?

I emailed my gmail account from my mac mail account and the signature arrived in a different font ( grey ).
Why is that? How do I keep it black?

The server returned the error: The connection to the server “www.rogers.com” on port 110 timed out.
It sounds like you're trying to connect to a web server, not a mail server. Check with your ISP for the right server address and settings.
