Gmail through native message app?

Is there a way to get Gmail/Google Apps mail to come through the native Messages app?
We've recently switched to Google Apps & GMail from an Exchange environment and the GMail app for Blackberry's has gone down like a brick.  It's hated - primarily because of the threaded/grouped message/conversation system.
Can gmail be received through the standard Messages app as we used to use for our exchange mail?
Please say it can...

Try this, open your Messages folder > Menu key > Options > Inbox Settings > and CHECK that email address to be included in the main messages folder.

  • GMAIL on Native Mail App

    I set up my Google mail in native mail app as a Google mail account and everything worked for a couple weeks.  Now the mail app is only pulling mail from 2011 and older.  I set up my mailbox on a couple other collegues iphones and have the same issue.  I downloaded the Gmail app and checked Gmail through Safari on my phone and the account is fine.  The current email is in my inbox.  My desktop is the same.  The issue is just with the mail app on IOS 8 and it was working for 2 weeks with no issues.  I didnt make any changes.  HELP!

    Not seeing the problem on either my iPhone 6 or iPad Air. Have you tried deleting the account in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar? It's a good first step in troubleshooting email issues. However, given that you've tried to set up the same account on other phones, it may not do any good. Are you using the default settings for Google when you set up the account?

  • Is screen sharing through the Messages app encrypted?

    The Messages app in Mavericks has the option to share your screen (Buddies > Share my screen...). Just learned about it today.
    I've been wondering how secure it is to use over the internet.
    Any thoughts as to if the screen sharing session is encrypted?
    I'm using Mavericks, and haven't found anything that says if the sessions are encrypted or not.

    Hi,
    The Messages app can use different ID to use the different services.
    It can use Apple IDs to use the iMessages service (Text Only) But you can invoke FaceTime from an existing conversation.
    By default you also get the Bonjour Account.
    If you have other Macs on your LAN (and they use iChat or Messages with Bonjour Enabled) you can Screen Share with them (in addition to Video Or Audio Only chats).
    You can join the AIM service with some Apple IDs (ending in @me.com and @icloud.com in most cases and sometime @mac.com depending on your OS version) and of course with AIM or AOL registered Screen Names.
    Mac to Mac (iChat or Messages) these can Screen Share over the internet.
    Whilst the Login may be SSL (AIM almost insist on in nowadays) the Video chats, Audio Only chats and Screen Sharing are Peer-to Peer connections.
    There are steps in the connection process to make sure you are not vulnerable to "Man-in-the-Middle" attacks.
    They will only work AIM to AIM.
    Jabber (Or XXMP) accounts can include GoogleTalk or Google Mail IDs in reality or Facebook chat IDs are valid Jabber IDs.
    You can of course register for a Jabber ID on any other Jabber server you know about.
    These will work Jabber to Jabber must be to a Mac using iChat or Messages and not other apps or web Browser logins (As you can do with both Facebook and Google).
    The Yahoo account is text only.

  • Receiving message in C# from Firefox Extension through Native Messaging

    I am trying to get active Tab Title as well as URL from Mozilla Firefox. I have started to build up a Firefox add on and installed it using registry entry. My own developed Firefox add on is installed perfectly and it is showing the current machine time. This Firefox add on contains file like chrome.manifest, install.rdf, sample.xul, overlay.xul, clock.xul, clock.js etc. Below is my code.
    chrome.manifest ----
    content helloworld jar:chrome/helloworld.jar!/content/
    overlay chrome://browser/content/browser.xul chrome://helloworld/content/overlay.xul
    locale helloworld en-US jar:chrome/helloworld.jar!/locale/en-US/
    locale helloworld fr-FR jar:chrome/helloworld.jar!/locale/fr-FR/
    skin helloworld classic/1.0 jar:chrome/helloworld.jar!/skin/classic/
    style chrome://browser/content/browser.xul chrome://helloworld/skin/overlay.css
    style chrome://global/content/customizeToolbar.xul chrome://helloworld/skin/overlay.css
    clock.xul----
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://global/skin/"?>
    <!DOCTYPE dialog SYSTEM "chrome://helloworld/locale/clock.dtd">
    <dialog id="clockDialog" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"
    title="&helloworld.clock;" buttons="accept"
    onload="initClock();">
    <script type="application/javascript" src="chrome://helloworld/content/clock.js" />
    <hbox align="center">
    <label value="&helloworld.currentTime;:" />
    <textbox id="currentTime" />
    </hbox>
    </dialog>
    clock.js-----
    function initClock() {
    showCurrentTime();
    window.setInterval(showCurrentTime, 1000);
    function showCurrentTime() {
    var textbox = document.getElementById("currentTime");
    textbox.value = new Date().toLocaleTimeString();
    textbox.select();
    I want to convert this code to fetch current tab title and URL from Firefox browser. At first, I am concentrating on the browser extension part and not the native for now and I just want to have a listener inside the js files such that whenever I switch to a different firefox tab or firefox window, an alert should show up from the browser itself (not from native at this moment) displaying the active tab's title and URL.
    I want to get the solutions it code . It would be great help if any one can help me to get the exact solutions.

    Thanks for your prompt reply '''@philipp'''. I will definitely follow your suggestion and upload my question at Mozilla forum.

  • Losing e-mails through Native Message client

    Using ActiveSync with my work Exchange Server whenever I delete an e-mail from my Playbook, it deletes it from the server and it is gone!  Normally when I do this with my iPhone device it moves it to the Deleted Items folder which really makes the most sense.
    Also when I reply to an e-mail, that reply isn't showing up in the sent folder on the server.  So, it is getting lost as well.  The iPhone behaves correctly with the reply being stored in the Sent folder.
    Are these bugs?  Do I have something setup wrong?  Or, is this the behavior that is expected?  I really can't use my PB for work with these issues...

    Why did this get moved from the event? The guidelines seemed pretty clear that support questions were the reason for the event.
    I'm not asking for troubleshooting, I'm asking if this is proper behavior or not.

  • How to initiate a conversation on google talk using the messages app? (I have already added my account and enabled it in the preferences menu of the messages app)

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion recently, iMessage (through the messages app) works even better. But because the messages app has now completely replaced the former iChat app, it also has the ability to add google (google talk), yahoo and AIM accounts for instant messaging. I have added my gmail account through the prefernces menu in the messages app and have also enabled it. However I'm unable to start a chat with any of my contacts on gtalk. Once I start a new message and type in the concerned person's google email id (which is on my friends list, added through google talk earlier), I get a message saying the person isn't available on iMessage. I don't see any other option to open a new chat window for my google talk contact who are not on iMessage. Is there anything else that can be done or is it only possible to receive messages on google talk via the messages app on Mountain Lion?

    Try to do this:
    - be sure you have added your GMAIL / GTALK account on Sys pref. Mail Contacts and Calendars
    - Open Messages, preferences, Account. Now you should see iMessage, Gtalk and Bonjour. Try to disable iMessage and Bonjour and see if anything changes.

  • Using Verizon Messages app on iPad mini: Accessing Verizon contact list

    I am a dumbphone Verizon user. I have an extensive contact list in my phone. I use the Verizon Backup Assistant to make sure I don't lose it. I frequently use the browser version of Verizon Messages as some of the smartphones send me text messages containing graphics I cannot see on the dumbphone. This has been working great for me. My dumbphone Contacts pull up nicely. I assume this is pulling from the Backup Assistant database (Verizon Cloud?).
    Enter the tablet. I now have an iPad mini. I've installed the Verizon Messages app. The Integrated Messaging is working as expected and I can access messages from all three devices (dumbphone, tablet, PC). However, with the iPad app I am unable to see my Contacts. Is there some form of syncing that I need to initiate between Verizon Messages on the iPad and Verizon Backup Assistant? Does anyone have tips in this area?
    I do not sync any contacts to the iPad Contacts. I have so many different contact lists (Gmail, three personal email accounts,  two work email accounts, dumbphone contacts, ...) that I just wouldn't know where to begin. Plus I like having them segregated because there are SO many different people in these lists. I just want to access my dumbphone contacts with the iPad Verizon Messages app.
    Input appreciated. Thank you.

        StFuz,
    Lets get those text tones customized to just how you want them! It's going to be easy to get them just how you want them. Please open your Phone app, then select a contact from your All Contacts list. Tap Edit at the top right corner, then scroll down to customize the Text Tone. I apologize, but this is available in the native Message app for the iPhone only. Verizon Messages does not support this feature in iPhones at this time.

  • Is VZ Messages App working?... I'm using the app on my iPhone and iPad amd new received text messages are not coming in. Sent messages is working just fine!

        That's odd jway502, let's look into it. Are you not receiving them on the iPhone and tablet, or just on your Messages website? Did you check the native messages app? Do you receive them there? Is it iPhone to iPhone?

  • HT202549 I need help with my messages app on my macbook pro.

    I'm trying to send/receive messages to/from my son who recently switched from iphone to android.  I have a 4s running ios 7.1.2 if that matters.  When I try to send him a message through the messages app on my laptop, it says "(his number) is not registered with imessage."  But my daughter who has an iphone 5 says that she gets his messages on her macbook pro and can also send messages to him from the messages app on there.
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Let me know if you need any more information.

    Hi WT13,
    You can do that too but not with the current configuration that you have. To get SMS messages on your Mac, you would need to have iOS 8 on your iPhone and also be running OS X Yosemite on your Mac. Once you have that set up then you can enable SMS messages to have them forward to your Mac.

  • My messaging app on my OS X Mavericks is disconnected from my iPhone number. It now sends messages via my email. How do I switch it back?

    I had to reset my password through my phone in order to download an app since I forgot my password. But now when I go to message other iPhones through the messaging app on my MacBook Pro, it sends them via my email. I thought I reconencted my account and phone and computer when I logged into my computer and it prompted me to. What's happening? How do I change it back to sending messages with my phone number?

    Hi,
    In Messages > Preferences > Accounts and th iMessages account (on the Mac) you should see the options for Receive At.
    IS the iPhone Number one of these ?
    Is it ticked to be Enabled ?
    You can also set Send From at the drop down at the bottom (when you have twor choices or more in the Receive At list).
    IF the iPhone Number is missing check the iPhone > Settings > Messages.
    Does this list the Apple ID ?
    Is it an Enabled option to Send and Receive messages ?
    If it is not there or not enabled (or Enabling it does not achieve anything) then Remove the Apple ID.
    Place the iPhone in Airplane mode for a few minutes (Break with all the servers)
    On returning to the Messages Settings check the iPhone number appears to be Enabled (it will be greyed out as a choice you can change)
    Add back the Apple ID.
    Restart the mac Version.
    Accept the pop ups that tell you the iPhone is using it's Number and the Apple ID

  • Blocked Contacts Getting Thru iMac Messages App

    Hi all,
    When I "block" a Contact on either my iPhone or iPad, the "block" works on those devices, but the block doesn't extend to the Messages App on my iMac -- so I still receive texts from someone I've blocked through the Messages App on the iMac. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have a solution? All thred devices have the latest iOS versions.
    Thx!
    S.

    I've been having the same issue. I checked the Skype app on my desktop and he's blocked, but I still get notifications on my phone. I can't see the messages on either version when I check, but I can see them and reply to them on Microsoft Office online. I clicked the block contact button about five or six times and haven't really seen it do anything, so I'm gonna guess the button there just exists to look pretty or something. Because of this, I'm not sure if I should call Skype support or Microsoft Office Support about it.

  • Got new messaging app.  Now I cant get rid of the one preloaded on moto droid 1

    Anyone have any clue how to disable/delete preloaded droid messagin service.   I Have already forced to close and cleared all data.  But everytime i get a message I get 2.  1 from each messaging service. little help please....thanks
    also the uninstall button is blackened out so i cant click that to delete it.

    Ahh, Grasshoppa, sit and listen to the masters as they enlighten you on the state of pre-installed apps...
    Well, I don't see any of the masters around at the moment, so I'll take a crack at your question...)
    First, you can't uninstall the preinstalled apps, including the native messaging app.
    However, to avoid getting double messages, go to the settings of the native app and disable all notifications of the naative app. This will NOT stop the native app from actually getting messages, but you will never know about it. And just leave the native app sitting in the app drawer. And remove it from all home screens.

  • Unable to receive gmail through apple's mail app 4.3 on Mac Book Pro

    I am unable to receive gmail through apple's mail app 4.3, on my MacBook Pro although I can receive my email on the gmail web site. *I can send email through Mail with no problems I just can't receive any e-mail in Mail.* Recently I got a message that my user name or password was incorrect. I made sure the information was correct but still I can't receive any e-mail in Mail. Could somebody please help me?
    Here are the settings. Are they correct?
    Account Type: Gmail IMAP
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com

    I had the same problem. The unlocking mentioned above worked for me. Right now mail.app is downloading the messages.
    I've also on other message boards found a link for correct setup: http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/answers/howto_setup_gmail_imap_andmail.app1/
    The key here is to go to labs and enable advanced IMAP settings.
    I'm not cheering yet if I hover over the folders / labels that are synced I get de message "Unable to open "foldername""

  • Please help with setting up native mail app using Gmail with alternate email address

    I have an alternative email address setup such as [email protected] configured to use with my online Gmail account.  In the online account, I use the alternate email services smtp server so emails are sent correctly from that alias.
    Is there a way to setup the native mail app to use Gmail for mail, contacts, and calendar and use an alternate email address as the sender?  Right now I am syncing contacts and the calendar through the native mail app and using the Gmail mail app for my email.  It allows you to select from all of the emails setup on the Gmail account.
    But for simplicity sake, I would like to consolidate to the native email app for all of my accounts - I also have an Exchange based work account.
    Thank you for the help.
