Gmail vs Built in Email

I'm having a tough time with both the gmail app and the built in email (I separated texts and emails into two different icons).  The built in email with which I logged my gmail into seems to get the messages almost instantly while gmail lags behind by a few minutes.  That being said, I like the layout and features of the gmail app better than the built in email.  My conflict is that there is an indicator of having a new message that pops up because of the built in email so whenever i get a new email and I look at it in the gmail app, I then have to go into the messages icon and "read" it there too to make the new email indicator go away from my home screen.  Should I just log the email out of the built-in yet faster email program or put up with having to view every email twice?  Is there anyway to stop that indicator from showing on the home screen?

basically, you want the flag "mark as read" replicated from GMail to our Blackberry mail, and in the other direction too.
It is possible, but you have to configure your BIS account to point to GMail's IMAP server.

When using an email account form this domain, I can send email to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*yahoo.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} and the {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} account can receives this email immediately.
But when I try to send an email address to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*gmail.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color}, the email succesfully sent without no error notified, however the {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color} account cannot receives this email although I waited for serveral days.

    Hi Shane.
I'm so sorry, the administrator in my company didn't provide enough information for me.
Actually, when I sent email to ***@gmail.com, there was a notification sent to me by the system. The error notification is :

  • How Can I Use a Gmail Account with Multiple Email Addresses in iPhone Mail?

So I have a Gmail account with 4 POP accounts that it checks...  Is there a way to get "Reply From" from multiple addresses?
I've tried the following sites...  No luck with iOS 5...
    http://email.about.com/od/iphonemailtips/qt/gmail_multiaddr.htm
    http://modernerd.com/post/535350679/solved-gmail-ipad-iphone-and-multiple-from

By setting up your GMail account to forward emails to your iCloud email account address.
You won't be able to reply from your Gmail address from within iCloud though.

  • After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

  • How can I get iPhoto to use external email instead of built-in email when sharing photos by email?

I really dislike the fact that emails are now sent from within iPhoto rather than via launching the external email client. It is much less flexible. Is there a way I can set iPhoto to use my Mac mail instead of its built-in email?
    Thanks
    Elisabeth

Yes. Iphoto menu -> Preferences -> General Pane:
Email Photos using: and select Mail from the dropdown.

  • Why do some emails show up when I go to gmail directly, but not when I open Mail (which uses gmail as my only email account?

Sometimes I don't receive a message in Mail (which uses gmail as my only email account) so I have to go to Gmail through Google to find it. This just started recently. Can this be fixed?

    This is an IMAP account?
DO you have rules set up on mac? If Mail is closed and not talking to gmail and you use your browser it will not have processeed all the rules, junk, spam, etc?
    Mail>Preferences>rules

  • I receive both My husbands emails and mine through my ipad. We both have gmail accounts.  His emails are coming down on the ipad but not mine.  I haven't received mail since Saturday and as we use the email for business I desperately need it.

I receive both My husbands emails and mine through my ipad. We both have gmail accounts.  His emails are coming down on the ipad but not mine.  I haven't received mail since Saturday. We use the email for business I desperately need it and I don't have a laptop anymore as it is broken.   In my wisdom I desired to buy an ipad instead,  what a mistake.

The iPad will support multiple Gmail accounts, but of course you have to set each one up individually.  Did you set up both accounts?  Go into Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars to confirm both accounts exist.  If they do, also familiarize yourself on how to navigate between accounts to make sure you can view your Inbox.  You may also want to check your settings to make sure that you have the default account set up as you expect for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Notes (if you're using all those features).  That is important only when initiating something new, you have to have a default account to do such a thing so make sure the default is your account since it is your iPad (assuming that's what you want).
Alternatively, install the free Gmail app and then use only his (or your) account with that app and use the standard iOS Mail app for the other account.

  • Can I set gmail as my default email client?

I am having trouble with Apple Mail and would prefer to use gmail as my default email client. Is there any way to do that in aperture?

Gmail is not a Mail Client. It's a mail service that needs a client to access it. That client can be a Web Browser, or an app like Mail, Entourage, Thunderbird etc. So, no you cannot set Gmail as the default email client. It's a bit like saying can I make HBO my Television Set.
If you want to use an app as default mail client in Aperture then the chosen app has to be scriptable, and that limits your options. There are only four supported: Mail, Entourage, AOL and Eudora.
Alternatively, you can access the Library from any Mail client or service via their Attach options:
In any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*+(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)+*
    Or any Media Browser.

  • I cannot access my Gmail content on the EMail app, I cannot access my Gmail content on the EMail app

Hi, after updating this morning to Mavericks, I cannot access my Gmail content on the Email App. I am using Macbook Air. Thanks.

same here.   Google is reporting too many connections.   My problem is that prior to the upgrade it was working "ok".   So its clearly a 10.9 issue

  • Did Apple take gmail off the ipad email app?

Did Apple remove gmail from the ipad email app? I get "the server imap.gmail.com is not responding".

No, that just means it can't connect to the Gmail server at the moment.

  • Gmail Sync Issue: Incoming Emails

I'm experiencing an issue with my gmail account syncing incoming emails in the email app.  The yellow 'alert' triangle of death has appeared since 2/24/10, when I last received emails on 2/24/10.  However, outgoing emails appear to successfully send.  I've twice now deleted my gmail account and re-added it in hopes of fixing this problem.    Anyone else experiencing this?  Any suggested fixes please?
Thanks and Happy Friday.  Hopefully the 1.4.0 Update will arrive soon and magically cure my gmail ailment.

I'm having the same problem. It also won't sync when I delete emails in Gmail or on my iPhone - they still show up in Mail.
    Has anyone found a solution?

  • When I try to fill out forms on line my I cannot send as it says my email isn't valid. I ve tried with my gmail and my work email and no luck. It will recognise my partners email with no problem. Please advise

Assuming that you can send email on the iPad, Maybe something is corrupt in Safari that is causing this. Try clearing Safari and see if the sites will accept your email address.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Cannot get Yahoo email with the built-in email app from within my company's network

    Hello,
From within my company's network, I can get Yahoo email if I use the Yahoo email app but not if I use the iPhone built-in email app (iPhone 5 and iPad 4 both running iOS 7.1.2). Any idea what may be going on?
Could it be that the two apps use different ports to get email (and one port happens to be blocked by the company's firewall/proxy)? If yes, anyone knows what these ports may be?
    Thank you in advance

That's entirely possible. Talk to your IT department about it. Attempting to bypass their security and potentially violating their security policy may not be good for your career.

  • Trying to create Gmail account creates only email, no contacts or calendar

11A few months ago, when I was a brand new BB user, I went through several days of headache trying to get my email, calendar and contacts to synch with Gmail. What finally worked was selecting the Gmail option fromt the advanced account settings. BB then automatically created all three -- an email account, a calendar account and a contacts account. Now my mom just also got a BB (also a Q10,  but an older version of the operating system (actually, mine had been the same version, but I had upgraded). I'm trying to set up her accounts the same way and am having problems. For starters, specifying Gmail under advanced options created only an email address. So, I thought maybe the problem was that Mom didn't actually have any entries in her Google calendar, or entries with phone numbers in her Google contacts. I created one in each. Didn't help. Then I thought maybe the behavior was different for the earlier OS version, so I decided to try to create a separte  CardDev account for contacts and CalDev for calendar. I haven't tried the CalDev yet, but, when I try to create a CardDev account and enter all the same Gmail info, I get the following error message: "Your login information for account (Contacts - [email protected]) has changed or is incorrect. Update your login information and try again." So, now I'm stuck.

How can it be the same? Cardav and caldav are different systems and contacts aren't events. I did do a search for server settings for carddav and found one ref that said just www.google.com, which is actually what I already set it to.
Anyway, the error isn't telling me it doesn't recognize the server.
I also don't understand why it isn't just working to set it up as a Gmail type account with email, contacts and calendar all present like I have on mine.

  • HT1637 How to set gmail as my default email program?

Hi, I have attempted to follow the instructions to change my default email program. However, when I open "mail" and go to general preferences, it gives me the options of selecting from an application downloaded on my computer. I want to use gmail as my default email program. But it isn't an ap on my computer, it's online. So how do I set gmail as my default email program? Thanks very much!

If you mean set it in your browser, you can't As you already pointed out, gmail is not a program on your computer it is a web site. You need to get your gmail account into an email client, such as Mail, on your computer. Then set your default email client to Mail, which in effect will be the same as using gmail since Mail is set up with your gmail account.
