Gmail won't load after Snow Leopard Update (safari 4.0.3)

When I try and access gmail I get the following
Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false& continue=http%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fui%3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl&bsv=zpwhtyg jntrz&scc=1&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “www.google.com”.
Firefox loads gmail fine. I've do not have google gears installed and I've reset safari several times now. www.google.com wouldn't open at first, but after the rest it loaded. Gmail has not.
Thanks in Advance

After I installed Gears for Snow Leopard It worked fine.

  • Aperture 2.1.4 update will not load after Snow Leopard update

Has any one found the fix for aperture 2.1.4 update not loading after the installation of Snow Leopard. I to am also getting the alert "aperture 2.0 or later is required to install the update". I installed my copy of aperture 2.1 using the installer with no problems so the program is in the correct location. I've seen the posts related to this problem and it does not seem a fix has been found.

Just ran into this myself. I did check to see if there was a preference to delete under ~/Library/Preferences and one is not created since 2.1 is never actually launched. 2.1 is sitting in the root of Applications and hasn't been renamed, but the 2.1.4 update just doesn't detect that it is there and just gives the alert "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update."

I have contacted autodesk to update my license but this hasn't worked.
Hasn't worked how? I don't know anything about Maya, but a lot of things changed under-the-hood in Snow Leopard, meaning a lot of programs broke. Are you running the most recent version of Maya, and is that version supposed to work on SL?

  • MBP won't start up after Snow Leopard update

Hi, I just installed the update for Snow Leopard. I restarted my computer and now it won't get past the grey screen, the darker screen just comes down and says I need to restarte my computer.
Is there anything I can do myself or do I need to take it in to get checked?
    Thanks!

    HI Phillip,
Grab your install disk that came with your MBPro and use Disk Utility to check the drive.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the DU window open, look at the bottom of the window. You will see Capacity and Available. Never allow the free disk space to fall below 10% of the capacity.
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode

Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
    The solution has been to:
    1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
    2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
    3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.

  • MacBook won't boot after Snow Leopard Updatel

I installed the 10.6.3 update today and after the "installation complete" message and subsequent restart, my computer would load the gray screen. That's where the normal boot up would end. It would then switch to the blue loading screen followed by the Nebula login screen. But then it would loop between those two screens every 20 seconds or so. Occasionally on the nebula screen the login box would appear but if I tried to type or click anything I'd get the dreaded spinning beachball of death followed by a flicker and a return to the blue screen. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've tried booting into safe mode which does nothing. I booted from the disc and "repaired" the disc with no luck. Is here any fix I can do without having to erase and reinstall snow leopard?

Try downloading the "conbo" update and running that. If that does not work, run your install DVD without erasing the drive. That should do an automatic A&I and get you going again.

  • IBook G4 won't load after latest security update, repair doesn't work?

Hi I had the same problem as someone else in this forum:
"Last night I saw that my ibook G4 wanted to do a security update. I told it to do it, and the ibook has not started since. It reset itself after downloaded, but it just stays on the booting up screen, never actually booting up so I can use it. After about two hours of trying to boot up, I turned it off, and on again, and it still wont boot.
I really need suggestions as how I can fix it. Thanks

    HI,
Ok... you need to boot from your install disk.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.

If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
If you have the original hard drive in this iBook, it was probably a 60GB drive? When you can do this, check to see how much available disk space there is.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Not enough available drive space can cause issues like you are experiencing.

I tried restarting it after the repair (there were some things to repair and I tried to repair twice just to make sure it didn't miss anything) but it still won't load. It says its starting the OX system, but when the blue bar reaches the end, it doesn't do anything from there. I also left it on for hours and it did nothing. My mousepad still lets me move around the mouse, the caps lock key still lights up, as the num lock key. I tried safe mode but that won't load either...any other suggestions?

Your iBook needs to go in for repairs.

  • MacBook Pro Won't Sleep after Snow Leopard Install

Neither closing the computer, or selecting Sleep from the menu will allow my computer to enter slumber. Shorty after closing its eyes, my computer will make that unsettling grinding noise and wake up.
I've reset the PRAM, the PMU, turned off bluetooth, airport, all running applications. This only started happening after installing 10.6.
I found a thread on MacRumors discussing this problem, but there was no fix yet. So I bring it here. Can anybody guess what's up, or should I just take it in to the Apple store?

Don't bother taking it to the Apple Store. They won't be able to help. This is a bug in Snow Leopard. I don't know of any workaround or any way to make it stop. It doesn't happen all the time. Usually shutting down the machine will fix it. Sometimes, it will fix itself after a while.
It is important that you never assume a machine is going to go to sleep successfully. Always wait for the pulsating light. If it does go to sleep, chances are it will stay that way. I used iLid Preference Pane to make sure that my machine doesn't accidentally wake up while it is in a bag or something.
I've already filed a couple of bug reports about it. You can help you sending your feedback to Apple.

  • Flickering Blue Image in iMovie '09 after Snow Leopard update 10.6.2

    Hello Everyone
I am having an issue with flickering blue images during transitions in iMovie '09, but only after installing Snow Leopard. I usually only have about 10-15GB of space to spare, as I only have an 80GB HD MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo. However, I have two 1TB G-Drives by G-Technologies. It was mentioned in another post that my HD space was the problem. It worked great in Leopard, so I'm not sure I agree that 10-15GB of HD space wouldn't be enough to do a 20 minute video using only pictures.
Once I updated to 10.6.2 this issue began. I am in need of a solid app, and I presumed iMovie was my best bet for the money. I recently downloaded a demo of PulpMotion, but I'm still playing around with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as Apple users are among some of the smartest and most creative people I know.
    Thank you,

    Hello Sauble,
I just got off of the phone with Dan, an Apple iLife '09 Tech Support Rep. Here is the advice he gave me, and so far it has worked!
    *Close ALL Open Apps*
Go To - Home Folder (house)
    Go To - Library
    Go To - Caches
Drag "Caches" folder to the trash.
Empty Trash. (Not all of Caches will empty. Just press "Continue" until complete.)
    Shut Down Computer.
Press Power button to start up your computer. Once you hear the Apple Chime - Hold Down The "Shift" key until you see 2 things (The Apple Logo, and The Spinning Wheel), Then Release the "Shift" key.
Once your computer is back up, You Are Now In Safe Mode - Empty Trash Again.
(Your Trash Should Be Completely Empty)
    Restart Your Computer as normal
Once your computer is up, open iPhoto or iMovie and see if your photos or Projects still have the same issue with blue or green people. Hopefully, NOT. LOL!
This should fix the problem. Let me know how it goes and if you have any information you feel would be necessary for this subject.
    I wish you well.

  • Safari won't load after latest software update

After the latest software update from Apple, Safari won't load. I've deleted the p.list and run OnyX to clean the system. It still won't load. This is a pain as Safari is my default browser and I have to get into Safari to change that. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?
    Thanks!

    Welcome Pauline;
Actually you can change your default browser from within Mail, just go to Mail preferences and set the default browser to whatever you want. Unless you have cloned your system (before the update)which I heartily recommend,
you may have to use Pacifist to extract Safari from
    the 10.4 installation package.
    Hope this helps,
    Miriam
