Gmail won't load in Firefox. Why??

The Gmail page opens but none of the email will open. Can't access folders, calendars or anything. Gmail works fine in other browsers. Very frustrating.

I have patiently waited for an answer for this problem. I notE this has been a known problem for 5 MONTHS now (Halloween). I have tried all the fixes suggested above and none of them have worked. At this time, over 200 people have had this problem (19 new this week). Will we ever get some Mozilla help for this?
I have cleared cache and history. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Taken out all the add-ins and still, I cannot access my Gmail. A little help PLEASE!

Gmail will not load in Firefox browser. I can get it in IE. I have disabled add-ons, extensions, reset theme to default, renamed extensions.?? files, re-started in safe mode, and a few other options, but it still won't load. Get "The connection was interrupted
The connection to www.google.com was interrupted while the page was loading." However, I can go to www.google.com, but can't get to the login page or gmail link. I can get to other links there.

  • URLs clicked in other programs won't load in Firefox

Just within the last 1-3 weeks (?) or so, I find that I can't click on links in other programs and have the URL load in Firefox, which is my default browser. They always used to load perfectly and switch me to the new tab in FF, but now they don't.
At first I tried disabling a couple of recent FF add-ons one at a time to see if one of them might have been the problem, but that didn't seem to solve it, though I may have missed one. Still, I can't imagine how an unrelated add-on could cause URLs not to load from other programs. I have tried loading URLs by clicking on them in Thunderbird, WordPad, MailWasher Pro, and even Libre Office, but all of them either just twitched the screen for an instant and then stopped, or else gave me a message such as "WordPad was unable to open the URL" or "There was a problem sending the command to the program" (Libre Office). However, when I copy and paste those same URLs into FF and hit Enter, those sites load perfectly.
I may be wrong in this, but it appears that something has changed within FF that now prevents links clicked in other programs from loading. My only other thought at the moment is that this '''may''' possibly have started about the time I upgraded from FF 10.0.2 to FF 11.0.1, but I have no firm evidence to support that theory.
This is really an annoying and inconvenient problem, so any help in resolving it will be hugely appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Al

The problem is fixed now as a result of some help I got on the WindowsSecrets forum. Once I realized that the problem was occurring not just with MWP and Thunderbird, but with other programs as well (I tried WordPad and Libre Office, both of which likewise failed to load the URL into Firefox), I posted the question on other forums, trying to see if others knew anything about this issue. I got the answer from a forum member on this page:
    http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/145441-URLs-clicked-in-other-programs-won-t-load-in-Firefox?p=847784#post847784
In case you're not a member there or can't load that page, here was his suggestion:
With FF closed type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the start menu search box, click the item that appears and delete localstore.rdf FF will replace it on starting.
I did that and all four programs that had previous problems loading URLs, including MWP, now load them perfectly. The only (minor) problem with this solution was that localstore.rdf apparently stores all the info about such things as the Firefox toolbars and their customisation, so all that was lost when I deleted the file, but I got them re-customised fairly quickly and all is well. Any thoughts regarding what localstore.rdf does, why this problem happened, or how to prevent it from happening again will be appreciated.
I hope this info helps. Thanks again for all your help.
    Regards,
    Al

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

    I have Safari 4.1.3 on a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and gmail won't load suddenly. What's up?

If possible you need to upgrade OS X. However, what you can upgrade to is dependent on what your Mac hardware and configuration is which you have not provided in your profile.

  • Gmail won't load in standard view

Using Firefox 29. Today, Gmail refuses to load in standard view. I have tried clearing my cache, clearing cookies, starting in Firefox safe mode - nothing works. It loads fine in IE but not in Firefox. No problem with any of the other Google apps I've tried, only Gmail.

Raw data copied below. I haven't tried it in Windows Safe Mode yet, I will try that next.
It has been happening every day since the day I posted that question. Sometimes ''eventually '' it does load, but I never had this happen before now.

  • Gmail won't load after upgrade to 3.6.9

Since upgrading to 3.6.9, gmail hangs while loading. The progress bar moves to 99% and then sits there. Gmail works in basic HTML mode, but not in normal JavaScript mode. Eventually, gmail time out and says "This is taking longer than usual". Looks like Ajax call never completes.

I just had this happen to me with FF 3.6.10 in my normal profile. If I ran in "Private Browsing" mode or another browser, it was working. The cause was my browser cache. As soon as I cleared my cache this worked again for me.

  • My iPhone4 has 3G but Safari won't load any data, why is this?

My iPhone4 works fine in some places, but whenever I'm in the house and have 3G, safari won't load. I just get a message saying 'safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding' can anyone help me fix this?
    Thank you

I'm getting the "server stopped responding" error on apps that use 3G (Words with Friends, My Xbox Live, etc) as well as in Safari. Anything that uses the 3G network is timing out. Texts work flawlessly, and emails do arrive and send, though it's very slow.
I spoke with a representative at AT&T. She said there were no reports of tower outages or issues in my area (Dallas, Texas). She had me restore the factory defaults on the network settings, remove and reinstall the SIM card, reset my phone, turn 3G off and back on again, empty the cache and data in Safari, and some other things. None of it fixed it.
If I turn off 3G, and only use the Edge network or WiFi, everything works just fine. But 3G is broken, and has been for me since yesterday
Would love to hear if anyone else has any ideas.

  • "@font-face" problem only with firefox. I have attached a style sheet while i was embedding my personal fonts into a website, but Firefox won't load them. Why?

I was hand coding my new website. This time i was trying to embed some personal fonts into my website, so i used a style sheet to embed which is coded like
    "@font-face {
    font-family:Sofia;
    src:url(../fonts/Sofia-Regular.otf);
All the font work fine in the root folder of my site. But whenever i am creating dreamweaver templates and using them on pages which are in different folders but in the same root directory, the fonts are set back to default font. This problem is only with Firefox. Chrome, IE, Opera etc. works fine. Please Help!

i run into the same problem the last days.
using bootstrap and the fontawesome iconfonts.
everythings fine with chrome an ie, but no fonticons with firefox...
found alot of solutions, but none of them worked.
then, using the webdeveloper console (i used firebug all the time before) i see the error why the webfont was not loaded:
    [14:18:36.161] GET http://www.example.com/font/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=3.2.0 [HTTP/1.1 401 Authorization Required 21ms]
yes, the site is behind a '''htaccess''' login.
first load after login is => everything ok!
after following an internal link => no webfonts!
after disabeling the htaccess login, everything works fine!
but that can only be a workaround!
why firefox didnt recognize the login/authorization like chrome does?!
what todo if you have your site behind htaccess and want to use webfonts?!

  • Youtube won't load on firefox when just five minutes ago it did. Why is it messing up?

Just five minutes ago youtube was working just fine on firefox However now this comes up "firefox can't find the server at www.youtube.com." what the heck is going on here? It works on my explorer just fine but not on firefox. What happened?
    Also, I use windows vista.

So, even though something worked five minutes ago it can not work right due to that? Somehow, I didn't have to do any of that. I don't know what it was but when I went to check one last time after posting here. The youtube page loaded. And I take care of my cookies and history about every three days. But I am glad it is working now and thank you for the help. I hope anyone else that sees this is able to be helped to.

  • Safari won't load content, Firefox does. Why?

Safari will not play video from CNN or MSNBC. Firefox has no issues. This is happening on a Powerbook G4 and MacBook Pro both of which have had fresh systems (10.5.3) installed on them, running Safari 3.1.1 and FireFox 3. Kindof odd that Safari inexplicably will open the page, present a big black empty square right where video should be, but then nothing happens, both for CNN and MSNBC.

    Hi
It was and still is checked.
MSN and CNN videos are Flash based. File permissions established by OS X are altered when Flash is installed. It's important (at least for the time being) to "repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder after a Flash installation. Do this, then restart the computer/ Safari and try a video from one of these sites.
Latest version of Flash: Which version of Adobe Flash is installed in your system. Latest is 9.0.124. You can determine such here. If you don't have the latest version, download it from here.
Again, remember to "repair permissions" etc.

  • Gmail won't load on eMac on Tiger 10.4.11

I am in France where my mum lives and have wiped her eMac hard drive (which had problems) and reinstalled 10.4.11.
    Internet and Safari work fine.
When I try to create a Gmail account for her the new account details are accepted and registered by Google fine except
when I click 'go to gmail' the progress bar goes almost to the end but will not complete loading.
I can log into the new gmail account on my iPhone and send and receive email.
On the iPhone there were the usual welcome messages from Google in the new Inbox.
On the eMac I have entered the new Gmail account successfully in Mail and it will receive email but NOT send.
I get the error message: the send address (new gmail address) is not recognized by the server.
I wondered if I had made some mistake so tried creating another gmail account and exactly the same thing happened.
I have searched for Google tech support but there is no phone number or email.
I have searched Google for similar experiences on the same Mac but no result.
No idea why the new Gmail account will not open in Safari.
    Any suggestions please?
    thanks
    Pete

Is there something to do with the eMac or 10.4.11 that is preventing me using Gmail ?
Based on some other web-accessed e-mail services lately, I suspect a similar but reworded sentence is more accurate:"
Is there something with Google that is preventing me from using the eMac or 10.4.11.
A friend had been away from his much older Mac running OS10.3.9 and, on returning home recently, found he could not longer access his Yahoo mail from a computer that worked fine four months before. Yahoo had done some updates that shut him out.
It could be that the limitation of older browsers is part of the problem.
First, I'd talk to Google mail support to see f they have moved to not supporting PowerPC Macs on their services.
Then I'd try another browser. TenForFox ( http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ ) is a PPC port of a recent Firefox version that web sites recognize as supporting newer Macs. I find it faster than regular FireFox or Safari 4.1.3 on our PPC Macs.
    Try TenFourFox with Google mail.
