Gmail won't send photos

Not working. I went to the Preferences in iPhoto, and put in the various info for my gmail account. It shows in the drop down menu. When I select a picture to email it says "The email server did not recognize the username or password combination". I did not attach "gmail.com" in the "user name" box. I copied the keychain entries for user name and password right from Keychain Access. I have gmail working in Mail, perfectly. Anyone know what is wrong? Thanks.

figured it out!
Open iPhoto
Click the iPhoto menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen
Click Preferences
Click the General tab
Next to "Email photos using"......have you selected the mail application that you want to use?
Click the Accounts tab to verify that the settings for your mail application are entered here.
the last step is crucial--my account info was incorrect in iphoto. so i fixed it and it works now!

Gmail won't send on iPhone 4S/iOS 7.1

Just got a new iPhone and had problems connecting to Gmail. Someone here helped me out and got that problem fixed. Now it won't send. I get the message:
"Unable to send Email"
"A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."
So I have four emails in my outbox that I can't delete, and they won't send. I can receive email on the phone. I can send and receive email on my iPad and one my computer. So it is a setting in this phone that isn't configured right.

Ok - the problem is solved. I'm going to give you the solution so that you can help others in the future, because it is kind of a pain in the butt, and you mentioned that you didn't use gmail. Before I tell you, thanks for trying to help. It is appreciated.
So for some reason, if you use the built in mail applcation instead of the gmail app, AND if you have two-step authenticaiton turned on (which I do) you can not use your standard password. If you are not using two-step authentication, this is not a problem.
So, you have to go into your gmail account from a web browser, go into your two step authentication settings, and generate what is called an "application specific password." You give it a name. For example, I have one for my iPad, one for my iPhone, etc.
The problem I had was that I had put the applicaiton specific password in for checking mail, but not sending it, because it was marked as "optional" so I didn't think I needed it in both locations since all of my email popped up right away. So I generated a new password for the iPhone and put it in both incoming and outgoing email, and it worked.

Messages app won't send photos

I'm trying to send a photo to my iPhone via the Messages app on my Macbook Pro but it won't send. It keeps telling me the message failed. How can I fix this?
I have the Macbook Pro from mid 2014 I guess, I got it from school. It's the one with retina display? I updated to the newest OSX and the messages app seems to be the only thing malfunctioning.

Try zipping the file first.
It does seem there is some sort of issue.
It is somewhat random though.
Some say it effects AIM conversations, some jabber and some other accounts like the iMessages one.
Some say it effects Messages 8 in Yosemite to other OS version and earlier version of Messages or iChat.
Zipping seems to work for AIM conversations.

Iphoto won't send photos by email?

Although photos look as though they have been sent by email they are not in fact transmitted. can anyone help please?

Apologies my message was marked MacBookPro (this appears to be highlighted in your reply - I am new to the discussions forum and didn't realise the protocol). I have an IMac 27inch and have made sure that the settings for Apple Mail match those of my MacBookPro are similar to my IMac. The Imac sends photos whereas the MacBookPro doesn't. Whereas AppleMail shows the photos as having been sent with my MacBookPro they are not shown in the in box if I copy them to myself.

Iphoto won't send photo

Using iPhoto to send photos and the status bar completes and gives a message that 1 photo has been sent. The photo NEVER arrives. I've been on support calls with Apple, but no resolution. The email address I'm sending from works fine in my mac email, but not in iphoto. I've tried all of the possible outgoing mail ports but nothing seems to fix the problem.

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it

IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

I use firefox on my HP laptop running windows 7 and I also use g mail for email. I cant send photos from my windows picture library to email.

This option was alrady selected. I even removed the selection and selected it again, but there was no change. I still cannot see the icons. Some setting that should be changed?

My iphone4s won't send photos via text or email

My iphone4s takes videos and pictures no problem and attaches them to an email or text message but they won't send even when I reduced them to their smallest size.

No, they're all stuck in my outbox. When I go to the outbox, there is a message that pops up after awhile: Cannot Send Mail. The user name or password for "SMTP:[email protected]" is incorrect.
I'm not sure why it's adding the smtp-- I didn't have that in the email address.
Apparently, I'm supposed to log in somewhere, but not sure where/how to do that???

5s won't send photo or contact as message

My I-phone 5s will not allow me to send contacts as a message nor will it allow me to send photos as a message. Both things cause the screen to freeze. Could this be a problem in my settings or a mal-function with the phone. It is only a couple weeks old.

Yes to both questions. I would start your troubleshooting of the issue by attempting to restarting the device.
Simply press on the sleep wake button wait until you get the bar that reads slide to shut off. Once shut off restart the device. Write back here if this does not resolve your issue.

Gmail won't send out going mail

I have the newest imac and had to have a new hard drive put in, and now when I try to send an email with gmail it won't go.
I also downloaded OS X Yosemite also yesterday, so I don' know if my gmail isn't working because of the new hard , or the new OS X I downloaded.
I can send emails from my Ipad with no problem, but not from my Imac, and I,m only 5ft from the Imac.
I am not very good with Apple as you can see, but any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Gmail won't send messages, and Mail shows sent messages when I don't want

I have my Gmail account set up through the Mail application. I can receive messages fine but I can't send them. So I send them by actually logging into Gmail. Now when I send them that way, they show up in my Mail account but i don't want them to. Help please!

I am having the same problem. I have tried Mulder's solution without success.
Here is some background:
I have two gmail accounts. My normal "[email protected]" account with which I am using POP does send mail. However I also have a google apps account ("username@my_domain.com") connected with IMAP and I can't send using this one. I have tried the various ports suggested by gmail help. It won't connect with the outgoing server. I ran a Telnet test and my computer is connecting with the server, but it appears as "offline" in Mail. User authentification and SSL are both checked (although I have also tried unchecking them).

Upgraded to Yosemite and now my gmail won't send out messages. Says it's offline.

Been trying to send 2 emails from Ipad2 with pictures attached from gmail. Both emails have been stuck in my Outbox and gmail continually tries to send but i keep getting a nessage that the gmail server can't be found. Went under settings, checked server and it seems fine. I don't have Wifi @home or else i'd try switching. Any ideas of what could be happenin'?

daviddavidff, we want you to be able to send and receive! If Earthlink has confirmed the outgoing server settings and you can access the email and send without issue from a labtop I would lean away from it being an issue with the account. If you can receive email then we know the device is communicating with the network.
I would try deleting the any email in the outbox folder http://bit.ly/1g1labk and then attempt to send a new email. Send the email to your own email address so we can verify success. Let us know if you can then send email.

Hi All,
I have been trying to send an email using my gmail account on my iMac. It keeps bouncing back to me saying "Cannot send message using the server gmail." I don't have the issue on my iPhone or iPad not sure what the issue is with my iMac.

Gmail won't send or receive

Ok, now I've had the fascinate a few hours. I love it but have a couple things I can't seem to figure out. I got my gmail account set up and it received all my gmail, but now emais sent just sit in the outbox showing "sending" and I haven't received any new emails in a couple of hours, even though new ones have arrived via gmail on my home computer. Is it something about when it synchs? How can I fix it?

Have you updated the settings on your GMAIL account to enable POP3 or IMAP forwarding? If not, please follow the steps below:
Enabling POP
You can read your Gmail messages from a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail.
To enable POP in Gmail:
Sign in to Gmail.
Click the gear icon in the upper-right and select Mail settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
Choose what to do with your messages after your POP client or device receives them.
Configure your POP3 client and click Save Changes.
