GMS API Mode

Can anyone tell me if I can enable API mode for GMS. GMS with SOAP is just plain bad... Are BES never gives us any issues and that is because we run in api mode.
For those folks out there that are thinking of updating to GW801HP1 to fix soap issues, don't bother.
The version of GMS I'm running is 8.0.104.4.

I performed more testing and have decided to install Intellisync back on the workstations and kill GMS.

Don't be too scared of BES 5.0, it's better than you may think when it comes to SOAP and it's a major improvment to 4.1.
Personally I think that the major issue with the POA and SOAP is GMS, I'm using several SOAP applications and the thing that creates most of the problems is GMS.
Since Novell isn't developing anything for GMS, I believe they are trying to work out the SOAP problems at the POA level rather addressing the source of the issue which is GMS, most GW installations only deal with GMS so that's what the majority of admin's see it.

Michael, thanks for the info.
So do you think Novell will have the SOAP problems fixed in GW 9... This reminds of back in the '90's Novell claimed that they had the fastest Java server in production. To bad they didn't have any programmers that could write Java Code.
I guess I won't be installing BES 5 when it comes out.
Config:
NetWare 6.5.8 Clusters with Protected Memory
Problems:
Sucks all the memory out of my servers.
Worst it brings my servers up to 100% utilization.
I do have maintenance. You're right do I need to create an incident so they can tell me that SOAP will be fixed in HP2, SP2, SP2HP1, SP2HP2, and so on.
If throttling back my threads don't work here are my option may be loading the intellisync back on the workstations.

You are pretty much stuck with SOAP with GMS, yes the trusted app API is there to handle authentication but other than that, that's all they wrote and will right for GMS.
Get your SOAP fired up, in BES 5, it too will be all SOAP with no option for OAPI.
What type of issues are you having, just running out of memory on POA? Are you running the POA on Netware or SLES? I'm running mine on NetWare with a few minor with about 1100 users on a single PO.
How many GMS users do you have? One thing I found after new years day, my GMS wacked out the PO. Novell TAC & I never really figured out the problem however removing all the users from GMS fixed it (and letting them recreate themselves!) My GMS didn't appear to like the old inactive users esp the ones that existed in GMS but no longer were in eDir or GW.
No real earth shattering news on how to run SOAP successfully with GW, the 100% utilization is a known problem. Do you have paid maint? I would open a incident with support but the story you will hear is that it's a known problem and will be fixed in SP2....
Check your POA stats though web monitor, are your Soap threads not going idle? That's the problem I had, Soap thread would increase and REGARDLESS of how or few I allocated, the threads would not go idle and the server util would just keep rising including trying to unload the POA would lock the server up as it tried to release the threads.
Hang in brother, I feel your pain.

  • How can I make my whole site in fullscreen (API) mode, not just the opening page?

I'm building a site that consists only of static pages, no scrolling, and I want the whole site to be in fullscreen mode. I know it's not good manners on the internet to have a whole site in this mode but it's a site with art and music and I really have a reason to have it this way.
I've been doing a lot of searching and I've got the fullscreen API to work for me, but just on that one particular page. I want it to stay fullscreen even when I go to another page on the site.
Maybe I've been doing this wrong somehow and the script is supposed to work that way but I've not been able to make it work.
    Thanks in advance
    db

Thanks so much for your quick replies.
The thing is I designed the site and tested it on a lot of different screen resizer plugins and it looked good.
What I did not count on was the space you lose with the dock. The content just gets too small on a 1366x768 for example.
Nancy, with "This allows content to fit the available viewport.", you mean the browser window? I've already built it that way.
Jon, ok so I was right about the API not working on whole sites then but it does have the the opputunity to make a single page fullscreen though.
Though I want the fullscreen mode on IE as well, I don't think the interface elements take that much space on windows computers and
maybe I won't have to use fullscreen there. This site is also not designed to work on mobiles so no issue there.
I have been thinking about some alternatives:
    1. Some kind of workaround that you mention Nancy, but I haven't found any.
    2. Have the visitors push a key to get into fullscreen but it seems that there is no equivalent to the F11 on mac, just different shortcuts for
different browsers. Or have I missed something here?
    3. Make the next page open up in an iframe but it just slows down the loading of the page.

  • Can I change BDB's locking level (SQL api mode)?

Can I change BDB locking level ?
if so , how to change it ?
I am testing SQLite vs BDB with --enable-sql_compat (configure option)
I want to change it to Data base level , ( like SQLite )

    Hello,
If I understand your question you want to change Berkeley DB to
implement locking at a database level like SQLite. Please see
    the "Locking granularity" documentation at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17076_02/html/programmer_reference/lock_page.html
With the exception of the Queue access method the Berkeley DB
access methods do page-level locking. The Queue access method
    performs record-level locking.
    Thank you,

  • How to realize 'parent first'  with grid api?

I can realize most of the functions as realized in hyperion analyzer with SetGridOption function in grid api except 'parent first' function. Hyperion analyzer version 5.03 can work in 'Use Grid Api' mode, and can produce the right result, with parent member listed on the top of all it's children members. So I am sure grid api can do it. Could someone tell me how to do it?

You'd think so, but no. The Grid API works the same way as the spreadsheet add-in - Analyzer has some client code that does the manipulation to "flip" the zoom in results to show the parent first.None of the available options in the SetGridOption function pertain to the positioning of the parent member.Regards,Jade-------------------------------Jade ColeSenior Business Intelligence ConsultantClarity [email protected]

  • Xbee API communication

    Hello all,
So I'm having some issues reading data from an Xbee in Labview. I have two xbees connected to arduinos that are communicating to a single xbee connected to my laptop, I'm using API mode on the xbees and attempting to read and separate the data for each xbee.
Reading some past posts I've picked up a nice VI to parse the data by searching for the start delimiter of each packet, using this I've been able to read and separate the data by just checking the address of each (the case structure, BD97 and C220 are just the addresses of my xbees). This worked as far as reading the data went, but running it I've gotten some data corruption somewhere (there will be random spikes that shouldn't be there).
After I ran into this error I added the little checksum check to try and get rid of the bad data, but this led to no data being passed through (checksums are wrong in each packet). I've gone through and actually added up the checksum of some of the packets by hand and they are wrong in my VI. I did the same with each packet in the xbee XCTU software and all the checksums added up correctly so it's not an issue with the xbees.
Anyone got any ideas where I might be going wrong here??? I attached the two VI's I've been using (ignore the randomness of it I've been doing a lot of tinkering).
and the original thread I was looking off of is here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/example-code-for-xbee-zigbee-in-API-mode/td-p/1297882
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi dmartin2011,
What protocol are you using? 232? 485?  Also, how are they connected to the laptop?
In the event that the parser is taking too long, you could consider a producer/consumer design pattern where the producer loop does the VISA read and the consumer loop does the parsing and checksum?
Can you explain what you mean by random spikes?  You could also place an indicator on the raw data output from the VISA read and make sure that data is what you expect and that your controls for baud and flow, etc. are set correctly.

  • Implement Screenflow using PAPI in Custom GUI

    Hi
We are trying to implement our custon GUI (.NET) using the PAPI api , we are able to retrieve the Views /Presentations / Inbox and other view instances . However I want some suggestions regarding how to implement the Screen flows /Process Work Items in the custom GUI using the PAPI call . Is there any API's which are already available to do these .
I see that the API has options like runActivity etc within the session , am I on the right track (however I am unclear how to achieve the screenflow in API mode)
    Thanks

Probably is not what you want but have you consider implement the interactive activities as external and build them in .NET?.
I think there are other threads in this forum and product documentation that explain how you implement an interactive activity as external but let you explain in few words.
1.- You create an external resource of type server configuration where you will have your .NET external application. The engine when executing this activity is going to redirect yo to that url adding the user, the activity id and the instance id.
2.- You implement the interactive activity as external, main task external.
3.- In the bottom part you put the url already defined in step 1.
4.- You define a prepare method. This is the method that you have to execute once the execution has been redirected to your .NET external application, you have the instanceid and then you can perform the prepare with PAPIWS. With the prepare you interchange information with the engine, you can define out arguments that you take in your application and also the engine blocks that instance to prevent other user execute the same activity to the same instance. Once yo have the control of the execution in your external application you can show the process data in your .NET client, modify it...
5.- You define a commit method, this is the method that you have to invoke, again with PAPIWS from your external application once you have finished the activity (the activity can be a .NET screenflow in your case). Performing the commit method you pass information back to the engine and the engine unblocks the instance execution.
I think that if you want to have the interactives built in .NET this is the recommended approach.

  • Using the Result of an Insert

I'm using an Informatica Cloud mapping to do an insert of a contact into NetSuite based on an outbound message from Salesforce. That's working fine. What I need to do, though, is to somehow get the ID of the inserted contact in NetSuite so that I can insert another record with the AttachContactReference as a target, which needs the inserted contact ID. How can I get the ID of the inserted contact record? I was thinking of using a task flow, but is it possible to pass the ID of the the inserted contact to the second mapping? Alternatively, I could use the Salesforce contact ID in the second mapping to look up the NetSuite contact ID, but I'd have the same issue of how to pass the Salesforce contact ID from the first to second mapping.

  • CREATOR / APPLICATION SERVER INSTALLATION ERROR

Hi, i have a problem with my JSC since few days. the applications server is sleeping. i re-install JSC2_1 but i have still the same problem. the install.log is trying to tell me something but i couldn't understand it. After installation i have domain.xml and processLauncher.xml with 0 kb size. Unfortunately the appServ couldn't start with this settings. renaming the domain.xml.bak into domain.xml and processLauncher.xml.bakl to processLauncher.xml doesn't help. I searched for a solution for this problem in the forum. But I'm the first lucky guy with this.

To me looks like you are installing with out proper "administrative" previlage.
    If you look at
    Checking available disk space...
    Checking Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
    Extracting installation files...
    Launching Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
    Deleting temporary files...
    "exitcode = 73"
This is trying to tell that something wrong with permission etc.

  • Trouble deploying on weblogic 8.1 SP5

My application uses a UI tree component.
We tested a simple application and deployment went fine. The app works fine.
Then comes the real application which uses a tree component.
It works (relatively) fine on the test application server that is included with the IDE. Well, except for the random "Cannot find component BodyTag" errors (not sure about the exact text of the message - Jasper errors)
Deployment goes fine, but attempting to show the index page causes the following error:

Hi, The present project has the requirement to Delete the data from Sales Force objects.Have following set up: 1. Parent Objects2. Child Objects3. Cloud Data Synchronization tasks to delete these objects Parent and Child have LOOKUP relationships between them.Deleing data from Child objects did not give any error. Tried 2 scenarios to delete data from Parent object: Scenario 1: Tried to delete to data from PARENT first before deleting CHILD.                  Result: Failed Scenario 2: Tried to delete to data from PARENT after deleting CHILD.                  Result: Failed Error mesge received in both cases: "Error loading into target [SF_Object] : Error received from salesforce.com. Fields []. Status code [DUPLICATE_COMM_NICKNAME]. Message [Too many records to cascade delete or set null]." Kindly help to resolve this error and suggest a method to delete data from PARENT salesforce objects. Please feel free to ask for more inputs, if required.

  • Labview and xbee

    Hello,
i am working on a project
which will interface labview with xbee.  i am having much trouble
writing and reading to and from the xbee.  i want to write out API mode
to the xbee and recieve hex code back from the xbee.
    the
project is a weather station which basicly uses 6 ADC's from a remote
xbee and transmits wirelessly to a local xbee which is connected to the
PC using an explorer (USB) board from "sparkfun.com"
    Thus
far i have been able to use X-CTU software to write and read the
correct hex commands (API-mode) and this all works great!  Now i want
to manipulate the data values from the ADC's and display them
    accordingly in labview.
    Labview prefers ASCII but the
arrays display in decimal when the Xbees prefer hex, is there an easy
conversion program to read and write using primarily hex.
thank you for any help. Tim

    Can you help?
I am currently using python to collect data from an array of
xbee nodes and I want to switch over to LabVIEW.
I’ve started by reprogramming one of xbee nodes (plus my
coordinator) to work in API mode and I’ve verified that the coordinator is receiving
transmissions by using the Basic Serial Write and Read example program.
I understand that the received API hex string needs to be
parsed in order to identify the node and then pull the “payload” bytes before being
    converted.
I have only superficial experience with LabView so I am
having trouble making this programming leap.
I have not had any luck with any of the forum threads on this
topic.  I looked all over the web but it
seems like this is uncharted waters.
Can anyone help me with example code to get me up and
running for one of my nodes?  It has 3
sensors and I want to display graphically and save to file.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • (ORACLE8 OPS) OGMSCTL TOOL

    제품 : ORACLE SERVER
    작성날짜 : 2004-08-16
    (ORACLE8 OPS) OGMSCTL TOOL
    ==========================
    SCOPE
Standard Edition 에서는 Real Application Clusters 기능이 10g(10.1.0) 이상 부터 지원이 됩니다.
    Explanation
GMS home
    옵션에는 다음과 같은 것들이 있다.
    start : start gms
    stop : stop gms
    abort : kill gms
    trace=X : sets trace level to X
    status : is gms alive?
interactive : enter gms debugger mode
ogms_home=X : set gms home directory to X
global-status : get a list of active gms nodes
    group-status <domain> <group> : get a list of group member info

    Hi,
I have the same problem. It seems like the installer can't create the administration installation file required by pkgadd.
If you look for that file at /var/run in another session while the installer is running, the file does not exist.
I don´t know if I could install the SFWrpmlib with the default admin installation. I am afraid about that.
    Any other idea ?
