Which thread are you referring to?  There are several in the testing repo forum but I don't see one that is multiple pages.
EDIT:  AH!  this one in Announcements, Package and Security Advisories!  Post #252 tells how to fix this.  ty! and thanks to Bl@ster for his post.

  • Cannot remove the access control entry object on the object because the ACE isn't present

    Hello,
I am very new to using Powershell and Exchange Management Shell, and have no prior experience using either of these tools. However, the software I am installing requires me to use the EMS tool in order to set certain permissions for a user in Exchange, which
will be like the admin account.
The command I am attempting to run follows as:
    Get-ExchangeServer | Remove-ADPermission -User $newusername -Deny -ExtendedRights Receive-As -Confirm:$False
This throws me an error saying:
cannot remove the access control entry on the object because the ACE isn't present. I've done some research, and have found that this error is quite common, but the solutions do not apply to what I am specifically trying to accomplish. I am simply trying
to remove the Receive-As permission for the admin user that I just created.
Once again, I am very new to Exchange and Powershell, but if there is any advice anyone has, it would greatly appreciated.

I ran this command, and a very long list was displayed, it looks like everything is there.
The weird thing is that I was able to run a previous command which granted Receive-As access to the user I am creating:
    Get-ExchangeServer | Add-ADPermission -User $newusername -accessrights GenericRead, GenericWrite -extendedrights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin -Confirm:$False
The description for the commands to run read to 'grant permissions and to revoke denies, if present'. I'm not sure what this means, but the second part of this pertains to the second command that I am having trouble with:
    Get-ExchangeServer | Remove-ADPermission -User $newusername -Deny -ExtendedRights Receive-As -Confirm:$False

  • Cannot save or access preferences on our network

I'm hoping there are some Apple XSAN exports out there who can assist me. I've been having these problems for months and our engineers have not had the slightest clue in fixing these issues. It seems very easy to fix, but since I'm not a network engineer I can only hope that they fix it for me... but it hasn't happened yet.
Basically, there seems to be a system wide problem that is not allowing me to write/save preferences for various applications on my system. I'm a video editor and Final Cut Studio seems to be unaffected by these problems. However - I have a Wacom Intuous 3 tablet and I can't even get access to the Wacom preference pane - it's grayed out. This is most frustrating aspect. Other smaller aspects are likewise frustrating - for example it doesn't seem like Kona 3 Control Panel settings are recognizing anything I change... so that the next time I launch it everything is reset. It's such a hassle having to go in and reset these things every time. Also, when I installed the Zaxwerks plugin for Adobe After effects it would not save any of my settings... this was the only problem I was able to remedy myself by doing some hunting and pecking and changing the permissions so that I own the preference files. This solution doesn't seem to be working for the other programs though. It's worth mentioning - I do know the admin login and password when it prompts me to authenticate... so I am able to change preferences to try to alleviate this problem. However - for example with the Wacom - I've changed the ownership to me on nearly every file I've found associated with the driver and pref pane.. but it still remains grayed out.
If anyone knows any solutions I can let the engineers know so that the problem doesn't happen to begin with, that would be great. It would seem that they could do something system wide to allow people who install drivers and preferences to at least have access to them. I had to type in the admin name and password when I installed the WACOM drivers... wouldn't it make sense that if I could do that then I could have access to the actual pane?
If anyone could provide some insight I would greatly appreciate. Some details that might help:
    I'm using a MacPro 8-core 3Ghz workstation
We're using I believe the latest software version of XSAN

    Wow.
Sounds like you're either NetBooted or in a version of **** created by MCX. An over zealous Mac Admin run amok with Workgroup Manager can make all those prefs unchageable and saveable. (No, I've never done that

  • How can I turn off Universal Access?

If my mouse cursor moves across the screen (without me moving it) to the dialog box one more time, I'm going to scream.
Every time I uncheck "Enable Access for Assistive Devices" in the Universal Access Preference Pane, it becomes checked again after logging out or restarting.

    Hello,
Try this: Locate this file: com.apple.universalaccess.plist
    It's here: MacintoshHD/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences
Open the Preferences folder. Locate that file and drag it to the Trash. Empty the Trash and reboot. Your MBP will create a new preference file for you.
Sometimes preference files can become corrupted... hopefully this will take care of it.
Post back if you need more help,

  • Sticky Keys and Universal Access

    Hello there folks,
I have just bought a new 20" Intel iMac, I'm running 10.4.6 with all the software updates, updated firmware et al.
One of my favorite features of Mac OS X are the sticky keys, they help people with reduced hand mobility use the keyboard.
Thing is... Every time I restart my computer it deselects the option "sticky keys ON" and I have to select it again at every restart. This did not happen on my old Dual USB iBook... I could restart and the sticky keys would still be selected.
Any suggestions why this is happening? I've tried several times and the stituation keps repeating itself.
Thanks in advance to everyone with any suggestions.
    iMac 20" (Intel).   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I've had this exact same problem with my MacBook Pro.
If I logout/login, the setting is retained. If I
restart and login, Sticky Keys is inactive. If I
    examine my
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist
efore going into the Universal Access preference
pane, "stickyKey" is set to "Yes". But when I
examine the setting in the preference pane, it's
    shown as "off."
That's intersting, I wonder if maybe the issue will be resolved with a software update. So, we now know the problem is present in the MacBookPro as well as an iMac. Thanks for your imput, let's hope we get a satisfying answer from someone soon.

  • How do I take the zoom feature off my MacBook Pro? I have already went to System Preferences and turned "zoom" off in the Universal Access. I saw where someone said to use THREE fingers to double click... ??? Double click what? And 3 fingers?

Can someone help me?How do I take the zoom feature off my MacBook Pro? I have already went to System Preferences and turned "zoom" off in the Universal Access. I saw where someone said to use THREE fingers to double click... ??? Double click what? And 3 fingers?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

  • Does Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 have no Universal Access- pane in the System Preferences?

I need to enable assistive devices in order to play some games in my Macbook but I cannot even find "Universal Access" in my System Preferences. Is it only available for Lions?

Likely, but if you go straight to Lion/10.7.x, it requires erasing the drive, better to get the SL/10.6 Disc & Install that first.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It looks like they might still have it...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
    Lion/101.7 System requirements
        •    x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
        •    At least 2GB of memory, I say 6 GB
        •    Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
        •    At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, I say 50 GB.
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.

Or, if you can afford to erase everything & spend $10 more than the 10.6 Disc & 10.7 from the App Store...
It looks like Apple will have has Lion available on USB drives for $69...

  • I get unwanted Custom Access on files and cannot remove them.

Since I installed Snow on my iMac quad core, with 10.6.7 at present, I get irregular custom access permissions applied to files and cannot remove some of them. I have tried Tinker Tools System and sometimes that works and other times it does not.
I have wiped my hard drive clean and zeroed it and reinstalled the system many times and it seems to make no difference.
The latest occurance was my users folder had custom access applied to it for no obvious reason. I was able to remove it from the user folder but not able to remove it from my home folder.
I have worked with Dr. Howard Oakley from Mac User magazine and he was unablr to solve my problem also. He has helped me on others with great success.
    HELP!!!!

Are you using a machine with only one account (which then of course is the account with administrator authority)?  Rather than completely rebuilding the system, did you use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions?
To repair permissions, boot from the Install DVD while holding down the ‘C’ key.
Select your Language preference and when the OS Install screen appears, go to the Tools menu in the Apple menu at the top of the screen and select Disk Utility.
From there click on First Aid and then run Repair Disk Permissions a few times in succession.  There will be some error or warning messages left, but they usually can be ignored.
    Did that help?

  • I don't have Universal Access in my system preferences?

I recently upgraded my mac operating system and I want to change my F4 key to Launchpad.
Anyway. I need to 'enable assistive devices' in order to use a program that will let me do that. I don't have a Universal Access pane in system preferences though. Any ideas where it could have gone to? I am pretty sure it use to be there.

If you're running 10.7.4 as your profile shows, select View ▹ Customize from the System Preferences menu bar. If the missing item appears, check the box next to its icon, then click Done.
If you're running 10.8, open the Accessibility preference pane.

  • Unwanted Universal Access Active

I have a client that reported problems with black boxes around icons his mouse pointer is selecting and that options within his Apple Menu are doubling up. I understand this to be that Universal Access is active. I assume the customer has hit a keyboard shortcut and activated it inadvertently. I have seen this quite often with many other clients and previously I have asked the client to go to their Home folder, Library/Preferences and remove the file "com.apple.universalaccess.plist" and reboot to resolve. However I have asked this customer to do this but Universal Access remains active. The only difference I can see from previous clients that removing the preference has been successful for and this client is that the former was running 10.4 Tiger and the latter is running 10.5 Leopard. I have tried zapping the PRAM thinking Apple may be storing Universal Access setting in PRAM now but again it is still active. Does anybody have any thoughts on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a closer reading of your initial post, I don't see Universal Access at play here.
problems with black boxes around icons his mouse pointer is selecting and that options within his Apple Menu are doubling up.
Can you make black boxes around icons with Universal Access?
As far as the Apple Menu items doubling up, you were on the right track, wrong plist.
Trash the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist, then log out and log back in again. That will remove the double ups in the Apple Menu.

  • Downloaded Firefox 4--computer asks over and over to restart, Firefox will not load, cannot remove it!!

I received an update message after my system had installed the newest Firefox 3. something, approximately 4 days ago. (Today is 3/22, so about 3/17--18) The newest update , when started, took me to the Mozilla homepage, where It was suggested I download and comment on the new Firefox 4---I do not normally do this, but am so impressed with Firefox versus most others, that I did, now, I cannot open Firefox at all, the older version, 3. something, is not in my system, only 4, but my system/PC upon trying to open the new Firefox, prompts me over and over to restart the system, (which I have done 3 times) I figured I would then simply remove it, (Firefox 4) and either try it again, or re-install the newest 3. something---I cannot remove it, even using my anti-virus program to do so, it simply prompts over and over to restart, wether I try to open, remove, or access it in any way---I do not wish to use system restore, but that seems my only option, please help!!!

I had the same problem and the solution is quite simple:
    - delete all data that has to do with Firefox and Mozilla
    - Reinstall the new version Firefox 4
You have to make sure that everything is deleted and well yes you will lose your profile data but at least it works again without any problem.
