GNOME 3.2.2 black lock screen

Ok I'm on a fully upgraded Gnome 3.2.2 arch system.
If I lock the screen and walk away then come back I don't get the login prompt with my profile pic coming up anymore.
The screen is blank most the time, sometimes it comes up with the time on the top of the screen, but still no login prompt. It would otherwise usually be there, say if I lock the screen, then immediately move the mouse.
Could it have to do with the auto sleep time? It still doesn't work properley, it's driving me nuts, when it happens I've got to put my password in like 5 times and hope that it will work blindly

Here's the card:

  • Black lock screen

Just bought two new iPod Touches - one works fine and the other continuously has a black lock screen (and by default settings screen appears a lot darker).
Have tried reset all content and settings from within the iPod and a restore (to 4.3.3) via iTunes and still black lock screen.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Cheers - Simon

just to clarify, I'd appreciate any info on how I can get the computer to start displaying my background photo on the lock screen again.

  • Black lock screen background

I recently installed CAC root certificates on my mac to enable my smart card to work with .mil websites. Since then, my mavericks lock screen no longer displays my background wallpaper, just a black screen with the username and password prompt.

just to clarify, I'd appreciate any info on how I can get the computer to start displaying my background photo on the lock screen again.

  • [SOLVED] gnome-screensaver bug? unintended lock screen behaviour

Everytime I close my laptop lid, the screen locks. I am fine with this EXCEPT when I am using two screens. I watch movies with my laptop and I like to close the lid because it blocks my reciever from getting the signal from my remote to change the volume. With gnome 3.4, I have not been able to do this unless I disable lock screen completely.

As you can see in the middle of this code block that closing the lid is supposed to do nothing but that is not the case. What I want is for the screen to lock when I close my laptop lid only if there is one screen or not at all. I could disable the lock screen completely through gsettings but that is not what I want either. Any help would be much appreciated and no I do not want to use xscreensaver

bump. any ideas. has this bug already been reported?
Edit: Found a way to fix this. Go into brightness and screen, then change lock off when screen turns blank. So basically, changing laptop lid close in gnome tweak tool or in gsettings to nothing doesn't matter since in the brightness and lock, the setting is to lock screen whenever it is turned off and obviously the screen is turned off since closing the lid does on just about every laptop. Marking as solved.

  • GNOME 3.8, Dual Monitor - Lock Screen Problem

I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but here it goes.
If I use a dual monitor configuration in GNOME, when I lock the screen, X hangs.
I can still access a TTY and restart GDM.
I don't know where I can find any useful information about what is going on, but maybe someone can point me into the right direction.

Have you tried to enable sna ? A lot o problem with gnome and GDM 3.8 seems to be solved that way.
To do so, create this file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
    and add in it:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Intel Graphics"
    Driver "intel"
    Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
    EndSection
    See here for details : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ion_method

  • How to remove the animation on the black lock screen?

A friend installed a little app/widget without my permission that plays an animation when the screen is off. Of course, it is hard to see, but I'd like to know where I can delete it.

  • Lock Screen Wallpaper black only

I looked for an answer here sorry if I missed it.
I have a new phone (no desire to jailbreak). I found that once I changed the lock screen (very first one with slide lever), it never displayed anything but black after that. I restored the phone to factory new phone (without my photos or settings). The raindrops wallpaper came back to the lock screen. Like new!!
So I synched only a half dozen wallpapers and set one, lock screen goes black. I set wallpaper manually back to raindrops and remove my downloaded wallpapers. Rebooted phone...still no change and black lock screen back, raindrops displays in thumbnail but (first) lockscreen is black.
What is it about changing the lockscreen that is making it black only from then on.

Thank you for posting this. I thought I was going nuts.
I had my iPhone plugged in to charge in my car,
and could see only the black background in lock-
screen. Unplugged it and photo reappeared!

  • Gnome 2.24 lock screen

Is there a way to change the background image for gnome-screensaver lock screen?

Just change /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome/background-default.jpg to anything else, say a black bg.
    Good luck!

  • Lock screen in gnome 3.2

Before the upgrade the upgrade to gnome 3.2 the following feature was working ok: whenever the laptop lid is closed the system suspends to RAM, whenever the laptop lid is opened up, the system resumes and the screen is locked. The screen lock feature was only enabled after
    gsettings set org.gnome.power-manager lock-use-screensaver 'false'
    (as per wiki instructions)
After the upgrade to gnome 3.2, the lock screen feature is not available anymore. I have checked the keys available in  org.gnome.power-manager and lock-use-screensaver does no appear anymore. As a matter of fact, lock-use-screensaver does not appear anywhere. This means that either something has gone wrong with my update, or this feature has been removed in the new gnome version. Anyone else observes the same?

There is a switch in >System Settings > Screen
    Is that not sufficient?

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged.  Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.
Have you done so?  If you have, all of the data is either in iCloud or iTunes on your computer.  Replace the device and restore the new iDevice with the backup of the old one.

  • When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.

When i press the on/off my ipod show me the lock screen only half second and goes black.
I try again and works normally. Sometimes do that.
    What Happens?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will belost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • GNOME 3.2.1 login promt from the lock screen is ugly.

The lock screen doesn't look nice... have i miss configured something?
What i mean is that i don't get something like the nice login screen from GDM ... but i get a password promt similar to the old style GDM....
Any ideas? is that the expected behaviour?
    Thanks!
    Juan.

It's the expected behaviour, but there is an upstream task to change this: https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointThree/ … ScreenLock

  • Lock screen on GNOME 3 [solved]

    Hello,
Since a few days, I'm not able to lock my screen (ctrl+l, menu > lock-screen, after suspend).
    Any idea ?
    Thank you

    Yes, it doesn't work.
Screen lock only works when you suspend through GNOME's status menu. If you suspend or hibernate using the power button, your screen is not locked after resume. The problem is a configuration failure in dconf.
For me it is never locked.
Except lock-use-screensaver, all the configurations lock-* are at true. Is it correct ?

  • Why am I seeing a white screen with a tiny black lock when I try to sync via USB?

I just restored my phone (3gs), uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. Now when I I plug my phone in and click on my iphone link in the left menu I only get a white screen with a silver apple logo and a tiny black lock image.   Non of the images are clickable.   Any one know the solution to fixing this syncing issue?

  • Black bar on bottom of iPhone 5 lock screen

There is a black bar at the bottom of my iphone 5 lock screen, is this supposed to be there? Is enyone else having this problem?  The top image is what shows
when I set the lock screen picture, and the bottom is what the actual lock screen looks like.  Is there any way to fix this?

nevermind, im just dumb, for some reason the wallpaper would move up from where i originally had it selected, moving the image down lower on the choose wallpaper screen fixed it.
