Gnome 3 Activity Bar

I have just upgraded from gnome2 to gnome3 as per the wiki states and I have been left with a slightly odd gnome3 install. I have a few graphical glitches which I cannot pinpoint the reasons for. The screenshots below illustrate the various problems:

My graphics chipset is the Intel 865G and I have installed the latest git versions of the driver. Does anybody recognise the issues I'm having or have any suggestions?

I also have this issue. @jack.mitchell -- quick make your screenshots into thumbnails and link to the big pictures before they get deleted by the mods

  • How can I make the activity bar default to the right FF window bottom instead of the left?

    The activity bar that pops up whenever a page or page item is loading defaults to the left bottom of the FF 4.0 window. It shifts over to the right bottom when I put the mouse pointer on it. But then it's back on the left the next time. Is there any way to make it default to the right side permanently? With most sites it's less in the way there.

    Thanks. Rolling over it will force it to the right side, but just until it pops up again. Because it's forced to the opposite side anytime it's rolled over, I can't grab it to move it to the inactive Toolbar bin. If possible, I'd like to keep it but have it default to the right instead of the left.

  • How to create an activity bar in Form?

    Hi all:
    I am using Developer 6i with Oracle 9i.
    I have developed a form, the form consists different button thru which I am calling different packages for different tasks. When user click any button e.g. "Generate Over time" for the current month, the package executed and insert data into a temp table after processing. during the execution system does not show any thing, I want to add an activity bar which will show the percentage of work done and fill the text box with any color.
    How is it possible?

    I assume something like a PJC which contains a progress bar object , developed in JDeveloper, would fulfill your requirement....!!!!
    Unfortunately....there is not such an object in Developer Forms....

  • Screen freeses on startup and activity bar at botom of page just goes to 10% then shuts down

    Screen freezes on start up and crashes after activity bar on bottom of screen just reaches about 10%
    Tried restart with control bar held  problem seemed to be after trying to update osx and error was displayed

    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    Yes. Otherwise Mail can't update the status of any new mail you may have, since it needs to finish checking the servers, synchronizing (if you use IMAP mail), and downloading new messages. <Edited by Host>

  • Gnome context menus behind Activity bar. Fix?

    The top of my right-click menus in any given application appear behind the Gnome Activities bar. In other words, the top boundary that Gnome considers when showing context menus is the top of the screen, not the bottom of the activities bar. Any idea how to fix that?
    I'd include a screenshot, but I the 'import' command won't include the context menus in the screenshot properly and Gnome's screen shot utility can't be invoked while a context menu is open.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Gnome 3 activity view hangs??

    I am using Gnome 3.2.1-1
    If I activate the activity view ( by holding mouse in upper right corner), normally several icons appear to show my applications available.  Nothing appears when I do it now.
    Also, if I type in the search bar of the activity view, then the activity view "crashes" and returns to a desktop view.
    How do I search for my issue?

    P.S. Over the past few days while using Gnome 3 , the system logs out back to the login screen without warning.  Are these problems related?

    can your graphics card can do full 3D?

  • How do I get the activity bar back in Lion Mail 5.3

    I  tried installing mountain lion unsuccessfully over Lion on my 27" imac (16 gb RAM) i7 quad core, 2012 model.  I couldn't do anything to make it load.  It would say installation finished but upon startup the grey screen with rotating circle never quit.  I finally gave up and restored it from time machine to Lion.  A couple days ago I decided to give it another try, this time with maverick with all the same problems.  Again another 2 days spend restoring to Lion but this time I had a lot of trouble with my mail not working when I got done.  After a lot of work-arounds I got it working except for one thing.  On the left side of my mail screen there is lists of all my mailboxes and at the bottom a little square labeled (Activity) and in that area I always get a blue bar showing the progress of an email being sent, and also the progress of one coming in.  I get the one coming in, but no bar for the outgoing mail and can't figure out how to get it to work.  I also never see the "outbox" listed when sending a large file anymore.  Anybody else see this and have an answer?  I thought about reinstalling mail but the Lion installer only has mail 5.0 and it's been updated to 5.3 so after using Pacifist to extract it, it won't restore.  I was wondering if the new mail 7.0 inside of Maverick would install in Lion?

    There are many threads on this, some prefer the grey look, others like don't.
    If you still have a backup of the old Aperture you can extract the colored icons from the Resources folder in the Aperture application package and exchange them, but this is a risky operationa nd you will have to do it over and over again, see this discussion:

  • GNOME Desktop Too Bare!

    I love Arch and I love GNOME.  The problem is - the default GNOME desktop that comes with Arch is EXTREMELY BARE!  Even after I change the wallpaper and add some new icons.  It just feels so empty.  Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can fix things up?

    I myself installed xcompmgr and avant-window-navigator a while ago. fun stuff. pretty too.
    You could also design your own panels backgrounds with "the gimp". curved or "glossy" panels is fun to experiment with

  • Activity bar not displaying on Project planning board

    Dear All,
    I am getting one problem related to project planning board. I am working on a system in which when i am trying to run  project planning board, its coming but in that gant chart i am not able to see bar for activity. Bar for project definition and wbs coming properly. In tabular form also i can see the activities. But the only problem i am not able to see bar for activity with relationships. I have check almost all configuration related to project planning board profile and also scheduling proflies.
    Kindly suggest what can be the reason for the same.

    Thanks for reply. I have check all these options but all things are in place. OPT7 setting also right there. Kindly suggest what other setting can affect. In the planning board i can see the activity at left hand side corner with details but in gantt chart where we see bar chart for schdulines there activties are not coming.

  • Lightroom 4.1 - activity bar gone?

    There used to be an activity or progress bar that showed the progress of processing preview images, etc.  I only see it upon exporting files now, but it does not appear for previews.  Is there a way to enable this?

    I've notice a strange behaviour in GDM login, too. The first time I put my password and try to log in doesn't happen anything. I have to press "Cancel" button and try again, then successfully.

    Same problem here. However this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=178290 fixed my system ( I also had error messages from journalctl related to svg format not recognized). As the thread says, I basically just had to reinstall a package with "pacman -S gdk-pixbuf2" and then everything worked. I don't know why, because that packaged was already installed.

  • Gnome shell, media keys and strange X11 cursor bihaviour

    Hi guys,
    I'm new in this forum, but old arch-user. This time I'm experimenting a really strange issue.
    I have a lot of packages installed (pacman, but AUR too), and I tried some beta packet, so I don't know if this issues is caused by me, or is a sort of out-of-the-box, but this is what happens:
    During Gnome-Shell session (3.16.2 actually), if I press any media keys (my keyboard has prev-next song, play/pause, stop, vol up-down) my cursor goes hidden (all works, but I can't see pointer). If I'm in empty desktop (no opened window), after 20~50pixel in any direction I can meet again my mouse. Instead, if I have some windows open...random behavior...cursor could reappear after 50pixel mouse movement, or it could stay hidden after 4-5Kpixel. The only way to get cursor again in short time is go to gnome overview (the function linked with super key or upper-left corner, by default).
    Additional strange facts:
    - mouse is working all the time (link is focused, button is pressed, focus follow mouse event, and so on...)
    - seems gnome top bar get same effect as empty desktop (20~50pixel and cursor is visible again)
    - if I link key combination with media function (Ctrl + Up/Down for volume, for example), everything goes well
    - I have a secondary bluetooth keyboard with same media keys, but this peripheral is not affected by this issue
    Any additional informations will be provided, but first, I did my homework:

    Got is sorted myself.
    I installed KDE which worked perfectly. Then went about trying to install chromium. After installing and trying to launch chromium I noticed it would just hand unless launched by root (terminal).
    Which led me to check permissions under /home.
    Turns out that somehow my /home/{me}/.config directory was owned by root:root  . A simple chown -R ~/.config  and a reinstall of gnome got everything working fine 
    NB: maybe someone with more insight can figure how/why ~/.config was owned by root from a fresh install and setup of systemd ??

    I am trying to compile a plugin that should make gnome-globalmenu work with qt apps. It should be fairly simple, the source tree only holds 3 files. I am however, sadly so incompetent that I can't work out what to do with my own improvised PKGBUILD to make it compile:

    The only hits google recognises for "QtGui/private/qabstractplatformmenubar_p.h"  are for a package Fedora names 'libqt4-private-dev' and Ubuntu's 'qt-devel-private'. From what I can it tell, qt-private-headers should be the corresponding package in Arch (and is included in the dependencies for that reason) but I can find no trace of the missing file in my system after having installed it.
    Kinda stuck from here. :-/
