[Gnome 3] Terminal notification window [solved]

Hi guys,
I already searched with dconf-editor but didn't find any entry to disable the notification window whilst trying to close a gnome-terminal when used with the root account.
Any approaches?

No, dconf is no gconf equivalent, you simply use the gconf entry and it will work. gnome3 is not gconf-independet, most settings are still made there.

In search of the lost notification window...

I'm having a question regarding Mac Os X. It's a question that I'm having for many years. It's something that annoys me regularly and today I would like to find out if others have the same problem, too, or if there might be a simple solution that I'm not yet aware of.
I'm using OS X with a lot of applications open, on two different monitors and several virtual desktops. I'm regularly having the problem that I open a file in an application and there's a notification-window somewhere and I can not find it.
I'm illustrating this with the last incident, just 5 minutes ago: I've pulled an image file from an email-attachment in Airmail to the Photoshop-icon in my dock. I'm checking other emails while Photoshop is loading. I go back to Photoshop when it finished starting-up. The image-file is not open yet and all menus are greyed-out, because there's a notification-window open (probably informing me about a missing color-profile), but it's hidden somewhere behind other windows. I've programmed two of my hot-corners to show me all windows of the active application and all windows of all applications, but it does not show me the notification window if I trigger that function. Even if I'm checking each (virtual, real) desktop and pull away each application-window I can not find the notification window for Photoshop. All I'm able to do is to force-close Photoshop (because all menus are greyed-out) and re-open Photoshop and re-open the image-file from within Photoshop again, with Photoshop in the foreground to get the notification-window to show up. It's a bit annoying.
The same thing happens to me constantly when I'm copying files. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes or longer to copy large files or archives from one place to another. Sometimes I'm just losing the window showing me the copy-progress. Even in the finder-menu "Windows" the copy-progress is not shown, so I'm not able to bring the progress-bar into the foreground via the menu. All I can do is search manually through every monitor and virtual desktop by pulling away windows and looking what's behind them until I found the progress-bar-window. Sometimes I can just not find it nevertheless. If I go into one of my hot corners then the progress-bar-window is not showing up as a regular window. So sometimes, when I 'lost' that progress-bar-window and I'm not sure if the copy-process is finished or not the only possibility to check if the copy-process is finished or not is to try to eject the drive I'm copying to or from. If OS X tells me: "not able to eject drive because blabla..." then I know that the process is still running, but I won't know how long the process is still taking. I just have to wait and try again and try again and try again until I can eject the drive.
I'm not sure if I'm the only person experiencing this. Maybe I just have too many windows open, but I'm working with a lot of different files and apps. In my opinion it's a programming-bug or at least a very annoying characteristic of the Macintosh Operating System since... I don't know, maybe 2000? Or Os 5? I think it's been a characteristic of any Mac OS since I'm working with Mac, so probably since my times on a Performa ...
If someone has a tip for how to locate these notification-windows and progress-bar-windows in case they get lost: would be wonderful to learn about a work-around, or even better: if some programmer at Apple could just put notification-windows and progress-bar-windows into the "Windows-menu" where they obviously would belong to. A simple change like this would make my Mac-experience so much more efficient ...

Weirdly enough I can not replicate the missing notification-window to take a screen-grab: the notification window now always just stays in the foreground. Maybe it's really a bug that only happens once in a while...
If you open a file and a notification-window pops up, then activating Mission Control HIDES the notification window though. That really should be considered not to be a bug but an inconvenience that could be avoided by including the notifications in Mission Control.
Will try to take a screen-grab next time it happens...

I am in need of a weather and stock widget, similiar to the ones on the iphone 4s, that allow you to display current stocks and weather in the notification window but i need it for the ipad2.

the iphone 4s came with a weather and a stock widget. these could be configured in notifications to CONSTANTLY display stock prices and the days weather whenever you pulled down the notification window. the ipad2 doesn't have these programs and i have spend a small fortune and time looking for this same feature. does anyone out there know off a weather and stock program that will let you program stocks into the notification window and then stream the stocks and prices acrossthe screen continously when you open the notification window. Also does anyone know of a weather program that will display the days current conditions ALL THE TIME, not just when the wind picks up or it snows.
the ipad2 doesn't have these built in programs and i can't find similiar ones in the app store.

Make Notification Window/Message

Hi,
i am trying to make a window like a notification window or message, after some action regardless which application has focus it must shown. On click jump back to the PB application or gain the focus.
I tried on open of called window:
calling Window set position to TopMost!
called Window set position to TopMost!
called window setfocus
on close of called window
calling Window set position to NoTopMost!
calling window windowstate = Minimized!
close called window
However when when do the test, clicks of the mouse freeze on other application so that continuing to work is not possible.
Some ideas how can do notification window or message regardless which application has focus?

Hi Marko;
My suggestion would be to use either:
1) Use Multi-Threading (aka SharedObjects) to keep the query going. You would have to be careful not to impede the Query thread.
2) Use two PB applications. One to interact with the user and one to do the processing. Communication between them could be via TCP/IP or Send ( ) command.
You certainly have to make sure that you do not use a response window as that makes the initiating thread "modal".

Workflow Termination Notification Question

I have a question regarding termination notification workflow. I am trying to create termination notifications for a server and I have to verify both worklist and email notification.
I have checked the Set Up HRMS > Common Definitions > Self Service->Workflow Configuration and Personnel administrator role is assigned for Terminate Employee workflow. Also, in PeopleTools > Security > Roles & Permissions I have an user assigned to this role.
In Worklist->Worklist, I only see the termination action created through Manager Self Service->Job and Personal Information->Terminate Employee and not the one using Workflow Administration->Job Information->Job Data. Also, no email is received.
Could you give me a hint regarding this problem?

Does anyone out there at Microsoft have accurate answers to these questions?

Why do completed reminders still show up in the notification window?

Even after the reminder is marked as completed, they still remain in the notification window. The only way I've found to remove them is to kill of the reminder time on the task.

Yah, I've noticed that too. And a reminder I'd set for when i left work went off the subsequent day Arrggh. Still working on all the kinks lol

When i use "Click to Call", a notification window in the lower right corner of the screen appears for about 10 seconds. How to increase this period of time or to fixate a window?

In the System Preferences there's an App tab. You can use that to configure how your computer deals with updates. It sounds like you want updates to automatically download and then inform you when they are ready for installation.

No detail when approving Journal via Notifications Window

User approving Journal Entry via Notifications Window can not see the Journal Detail. His responsibility has Journals / Post and Inquiry / Journal. Is the Journals / Entry access needed to be able to see the Journal Detail?

I can't close my notification window even though it has a button to close it.

When I have Thunderbird minimized and am working on something else, I will get a notification window that pops up when a get a new email. I used to be able to close this notification window, but in the last month, the "close" button doesn't work anymore. It pops up, covers something I'm doing, and I can't move it or close it. I just have to wait until it disappears. I still want notifications, but they pop up during a game where I only have so many seconds to do something. How can I be able to close the notification box?

Have you tried running Thunderbird with add-ons disabled from the help menu, to see if an add-on is messing up.

Abnormal program termination in Windows XP

Everytime I execute javac or appletviewer from the command prompt i get the message abnormal program termination in Windows XP. I am using a notebook computer. I have set the path correctly and am puzzled as to the problem. Could it be a flaw in the RAM or is it a software problem? I have also tried running javac etc in Windows 2000 and again get an exception error. However when run on a desktop in Windows 2000 it runs fine. I can only conclude that it is hardware related with the notebook computer.
Has anyone else had a similar problem when executing the java commands in the bin directory???? If so is there a solution??

How to keep notification window from stealing focus from main AIR window

Hi,
We have an AIR (JavaScript based) chat application that uses the technique posted at the following link to display a notiifcation window each time the user receives a new message. The notification window gradually fades away after 5 seconds.

The technique uses HTMLLoader.createRootWindow to create and display the notification window.
The issue we are having is that the notification window steals/removes focus from the main AIR window, which is annoying if you are in the middle of typing a message that you want to send to other users. Once the notification fades away, focus is returned to the main AIR window.
I searched the AIR documentation to see if there is a way to keep the notification window from stealing focus, but came up empty. I'm hoping I'm overlooking something. Can anyone help out?

1 - Create New Menu Item Called Window it's properties > Menu Item Type = Magic
2- Menu Item Type = Magic.
3- Change Magic Item = Window
4- Command Type = Null.
5.Visible In Menu = Yes.
6.Under Physical 's node >Visible = No.

It may have half installed the software so dose anyone know if i can reinstall or delete what it has installed?

after using FCS remover run disc repair:
shut down the Mac
Hold the Shift key on keyboard and start up the Mac
The Mac will run the repair tasks it takes 10- 30 minutes, then it will boot up normally
insert the FCS DVD in the drive and install FCS again.
