[Gnome] battery-applet showing only percentage of capacity

Hello guys,
is there a possibility to change the battery-applet in the panel to let it display also the remaining time instead of only showing the percentage of capacity that is left?

Well first off to answer your question about Apple replacing the battery or not, I don't think they will. They consider batteries to be consumables and therefore you must keep up with the cost of them for the most part.
My question to you is though do you often level your machine plugged in? If so this could be the source of your problem. Leaving machines plugged in and not letting the battery drain in time hurts the battery and decreases the health of the battery.
One of the main symptoms is when the battery will no longer hold a change. If you look in system profiler you under power you should be able to check the battery health. This should give you a good idea.
For example I have 416 cycles right now and still get 3.25 hours of use on one charge and I have a health of 95% at the moment.
It is possible you just have a dead battery though.

The TP has 1 GB RAM reserved for the system and the user memory avail. should be approx. 15 GB's with no additional apps or 3rd party software installed. Try a restart like the previous person did and check the avail memory.
You could also try the automated test in device info., diagnostics, automated tab and then select automated test suite. This will test the memory and will give an error code if it fails. If you get an error code, or if it still shows the same avail. memory, call the tech support line and setup a repair.

120 GB iPod Classic showing only 111 GB Capacity

I have a 120 GB iPod Classic. Its original settings were restored before syncing it to my library. In the iTunes summary, its capacity indicates only 111 GB available. In the segmented bar at the bottom of the iTunes screen, all segments (Audio, Video, Other, Free) add up to 111 GB. The "Other" category shows only 232 MB used.
What can I do to regain the nearly 9 GB lost?

You need to complain to the whole data storage industry then. That's how all data storage devices are marketed. If you buy a 320GB hard drive, you are not going to get 320GB of usable storage; you'll come out short by about 22GB. If one company decided to use actual storage for marketing, that company would be at a marketing disadvantage compared to competitors.
An iPod is a data storage device that hold and plays music (and other media).

After installing Mountain Lion the battery indicator shows only 99% charge though charging for the whole night.

I have been using MacBook Pro mid 2010 and recently I upgraded my OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Since then whenever I charge my computer it stops charging at 99% but when I was using Snow Leopard it use to fully charge to 100%. Does installing the new OS preventing it to charge to 100% or something is wrong with the hardware.

Thanks for the reference. Still one thing I am not able to understand is that in Snow Leopard after the full charge it use to show 100% so why not in Mountain Lion. Snow Leopard is also a advance OS and if that is the case then the feature of not charging to the full capacity should exist.

Gnome Status Applet

Is there a bug opened that the Sun Update Gnome Status applet should only run as root. It show's up on every users desktop on a multi user system such as Sun Ray or Tarantella.

It was intended that the status applet be available to all users.
When you launch the Update Manager, it will require you to provide credentials to use the application (these credentials are typically username and password of an account that has root priviledge) .
If a user has such credentials, anything that they could do from UM, they could do from the command line, so perhaps I am missing the issue....

Satellite U940 - SSD drive shows only 11.22GB

Hi,
I got a brand new Satellite U940-B484 Ultrabook.
The first thing I did was finishing the wizard, then I created the recovery media (using external DVD drive) on three 4.7GB DVD discs
We have Windows 8 Pro license, so my friend formatted the system and installed new Windows 8 Pro, he seems to be missed up with the drivers, so we decided to back to factory status to find and download the correct device drivers.
Even after we got the recovery completed we still have two issues:
Major issue: SSD drive shows only 11.22GB capacity!!
Minor issue: a device in the device manager isn't working correctly!!
Is there any logical explanation for the SSD size to go down from 32 GB to 11 GB????
The only think came across my mind was the possibility to have 2x16GB and the RAID (for some reason) changed from RAID 0 to RAID 1. But even if that is true, where on earth can I change that from?

On my clean preinstalled Satellite U940 SSD is listed as unallocated drive with 11.19GB capacity. As far as I know this small SSD is not there for data saving but as small drive that helps and allows fast start-up.
Fast start-up is a setting that helps your PC start up faster after shutdown. Windows does this by saving system info to a file upon shutdown. When you start your PC again, Windows uses that system info to resume your PC instead of restarting it.

Hi all;
Because of the recent hostile takeover of #archlinux channel by tilling WM fanatics.. I will ask here..
Does any one know of a Gnome Panel applet that shows the output of system command of your choice?
For people who Conky is a bit too much and they only want a simple piece of data available (like what is the current IP on ppp0 interface) like me.. this is a necessity.
If its not in existence I would probably make one.. shouldn't take long, I also would like to hear if there is any interest.

If you are having issues with your iPhone such as you describe, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device

Does SAP has any standard report/transaction in Capacity Planning that shows (or has a selection for showing) only "dispatched" orders/opns ?

Use transaction COOIS. In this choose Operations, System status as DSPT at operation level, enter plant and execute. You will get only orders and the operations which are dispatched in this plant.
You can navigate to the capacity planning table from the selected records through order change.

Are there apps on your phone right now?
I think one of your apps is causing this.
The only way to find out is to delete them all and then add them one by one to see what app maybe causing this.
Especially if you've gone thru 3 iphones already.
When you restored as new - did you sync back your stuff - apps/music or did you restore from backup?

An "X" for the battery indicator typically indicates that the battery is not recognized. The fact that you old battery was working (albeit very minimally) would seem to indicate that there wasn't a problem with your MacBook Pro. Batteries are one of those things that I tend to steer clear of in eBay. Unlike most things, batteries degrade over time. Lithium ion/polymer batteries also have safety circuitry built into them that will prevent them from charging if they reach a certain critically low level (which can happen if stored for a prolonged period). When you purchase something from eBay, you have no idea how long the battery may have been sitting around. You also indicated that the battery didn't look new. It sounds like the battery is faulty. You should return it to the seller. I would suggest a refund vs. an exchange. eBay is great for lots of things, but when it comes to batteries, your best bet is to purchase them directly from the manufacturer or reputable retailer.

Along with what Skydiver119 has already told you, my 64GB iPad 3 only had 57GB of available storage out of the box, so if you keep doubling the amount of already used storage on the device as you go from 16 to 32 to 64 and then to 128GB - I assume that the figure that you see is correct. The iOS and preinstalled apps account for the storage that seems to be "missing" to you on your iPad.
The amount that you see in Settings>General>About>Capacity is in fact, the available storage capacity for your iPad. You can't change it. It is whatever it says it is in that setting.

Gif image shows only in black and white

I'm trying to convert normal image to PlanarImage but the PlanarImage will show only black & white image in the applet. My guess is that it has something to do with bands but I can't figure out how to solve the problem.

[SOLVED] hdapsd/gnome-hdaps-applet/kernel26/tp_smapi: Some issues

I posted some comments on the package hdapsd http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=5401. At the moment, loading the modules from tp_smapi and starting hdaps works without problems, when enabling the unload_heads by executing as root
echo -1 > /sys/block/sda/device/unload_heads
Now shaking the laptop (only a bit;) results in the output of hdapsd

So, does someone has ideas how to debug this further?

Edit: The problem is solved and had nothing to do with the software/kernel. I needed to update the firmware of my drive with the help of lenovos FWHD55.ISO...(in fact it was a bit harder since I own a non-IBM harddrive...see here http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Talk:Prob … hard_disks and search for hfui15.exe, don't forget the -pm switch to tell the badly programmed software that your HD is Primary master...)
