Gnome clock and timezone problems

When I run "date" in the terminal, it says "Wed Sep  3 20:56:39 CST 2008" even though I'm in australia/adelaide. I try setting the timezone from right-clicking the gnome clock, but after I login/out, it just resets to "America/Indiana/Tell City"
Help?

I also recommend using ntp.

    Every time I sync my iPhone with my computer, it will change my clock and the timezone. I re-checked every setting on the iPhone and iTunes and everything seems fine. What can I do so this doesn't happen again? Because it's very annoying to change back the clock every time or use it with the wrong time. Granted, the difference is just one hour forward, but still...

    i am having the same problem. iphone 3G 3.1.3 with itunes 10 same problem.. how did you solve this problem?

  • IOS 7.02 iPhone 5 clock and Calendar Problems

    The date displayed in the Calendar is always one day ahead of its day shown in the iPhone settings date. Also the clock for the various cities around the World are being incorrectly reflected. Seoul, Korea is shown 2.5 hours earlier than Shanghai time and Seoul is East of Shanghai and I believe it is only 1 hour ahead not 2.5 earlier as shown in iPhone. Never had these problems before update to iOS 7.02. The World Clock and calendar cannot be trusted any more and I hope Apple will correct soon!!!!

    If you've already reviewed the settings for Date  & Time, what seems pertinent to you is the following:
    If the incorrect date, time, or time zone is being set up automatically on the device, please notify your cellular provider. In the meantime, tap General > Date & Time and turn off Set Automatically. Then set the appropriate time and time zone manually.
    Note: The option to set automatically might not be available on all carriers in all countries.

  • Clock and alarm problem!

    Gggrrr I have a 8530 and when I go into my clock, it won't let me set the alarm! Everytime I try, it freezes my clock and the only way to exit is the red button. I have tried the curser button to set and the blackberry button to set and it just freezes again! Nothing pops up! And it is stuck on 7:30 am weekdays!

    Hello,
    I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
    Soft reboot :
    1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
    - Alt
    - Right Shift
    - Delete
    2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
    Hard reboot :
    1) your Blackberry device is on
    2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
    3) Put the battery back
    4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.
    Please tell us if it works for you.

  • SimpleDateFormat and TimeZone problem

    Hi all, I know there have been a lot of questions
    concerning this topic, but I've looked over a lot
    of messages and I think I've used all ideas provided,
    yet still I can't fix my problem.
    My problem concerns parsing a date from a HTTP
    packet. I use the following code:
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("EEE, dd MMM yyyy hh:mm:ss zzz");
    sdf.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getDefault());
    Date date = sdf.parse(packet.substring(exp_pos+9, endline));Most of the time this code works perfectly, however
    from time to time the parse result is 12 hours of.
    Instead of 14h the result is 2h. HTTP dates use a
    24 hour time.
    I'm using the JVM by Blackdown, version 1.3.1 on
    Debian Linux 2.2.18. The timezone is configured
    correctly in my os. I'm in GMT+1.
    I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I have done something
    wrong.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Peter

    Looks to me that your time format with lower-case "hh" tells it to use the 12-hour, not 24-hour format, and you're not including the am/pm indicator. So it's doing just what you're telling it to do. If you want 24-hour format, use "HH" instead of "hh".

  • E63 Alarm Clock and Date problem

    Power off E63, when alarm clock ring, power on. The system date change.This problem happen almost every Sat. and Mon.. FW version 102.21.001

    in my opinion this is a media cache issue.
    activate Mass Storage mode and connect your device to your PC.
    using the Explorer of the PC, view the Storm's two harddrives and especially the hidden files. You should see a file named BBThumbs.dat in every folder that contains a media file. Delete all those BBThumbs.dat files.
    those files are media cache, and they may sometimes get corrupt. Deleting them will force the Media Manager to recreate the cache entirely.

  • Clock problem and shutdown problem! Are they related?

    Having a problem with my Dual 2 GHz Power Mac G5
    A few days ago I noticed that my clock was not showing in the menu bar in the upper right corner of my desktop.
    I went into System Preferences and went to Date & Time. Under the clock tab “Show Date and Time in Menu Bar” the box was not checked off. I checked it off and went to the “Date and Time” tab. The date and time was correct. I then checked the box “Click the lock to prevent further changes” to lock it. The date and time did not show up in the menu bar. I then went back to the tab “Show Date and Time in Menu Bar” and the box I checked was not checked off even thought the lock was still locked.
    I then moved my cursor up to the menu bar in the upper right corner to see what would happen and the spinning beach ball started up but only for the original icons such as Bluetooth, Mobile Me (which I do not use), Time Machine, Spaces (doesn’t indicated the number when I switch Spaces, etc. The icons Norton Anti Virus and Tech Tool Pro in the menu bar are okay.
    Also, when I attempt to shut down my computer the system clears the icons from my desktop except for a picture I have on my desktop and I get a gray wheel spinning and the system just hangs until I press and hold the on/off switch. I don’t know if the clock and shutdown problems are related.
    The only new software I loaded recently was Skype with Logitech WebCam for the Mac and Quicken 2007 (Had a problem with Quicken 2006). They both are working okay.
    And ideas on why I cannot get my clock to show up and my computer to shutdown?

    You may have to consider a new post in the Hardware forum area for the computer
    model and build/year; if there is a possibility of some basis the matter could be in
    the machine and not the software running within it.
    Your last two/three posts are in the Leopard 10.5(.8) forum area and do indicate
    some kind of problem where troubleshooting the computer to discover if the matter
    at hand would be either hardware or software based, may be the way to go.
    The link to the 10.6 Snow Leopard forum won't be of help if your computer is a
    PPC-based G5 tower, or other older pre-Intel configuration. And I remember
    your earlier questions about the iMac G4 and some other issues in the past.
    You may ask the moderators to put your post in a new thread of its own, in the
    Leopard 10.5 area; so as to not 'piggy-back' another topic; even though some
    of the odd issues you've had seem similar to this OP's topic line and appear to
    be in the same general series of hardware. {The question here seems valid.}
    The routine suggestions to check, test, verify, and perhaps repair or replace
    the system; save a bootable clone to suitable external standalone device if
    testing a suspect computer's viability is recommended; and the basics if not
    already tried to help isolate the issue(s) as you've posted elsewhere, may be
    of some help to try and do; so in that matter, a new thread of your own is best
    for your own directed feedback. Since this kind of advice applies to most any
    situation, including troubleshooting what may be hardware or software, I'm
    adding my two and three-tenths cents worth here.
    Your original included Apple Hardware Test may be of some help, in the process
    of elimination; but is not conclusive, so other methods would be also suggested.
    Some ideas appear to cover the same ground. However, system corruption or
    disc failure can also manifest itself in odd ways & affect things indirectly for a time.

    So, at the risk of inadvertently alienating the OP, I am posting this as
    a general help to following readers at some later time; and it may not
    be too simple for a refresh course.
    Some software issues can be resolved by repairing disk permissions,
    and re-applying the last OS X update Combo file over the same one
    already in the system; or if not up-to-date already, check & repair all
    the general items and then apply the last Combo update.
    A too-full hard disk drive can compromise the system integrity, so that
    is a matter of course to keep up on what resources exist and remain
    for the OS X to function correctly and for apps to multi-task together.
    However that works out...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Ti4200: problem with MSI CLOCK and info page

    Help!
    I've just install ti4200 128mb.  Everything runs fine, 3d mark even showing 9300+
    However, everytime I try to go to the MSI clock and information tab under display properties, I get a Microsoft reporting Error!
    I've tried this at W2k and also failed!
    I'm running up-to-date MSI v3000 nivida drivers.

    ASUS P4S533
    512mb ddr333 ram
    WD 800jb
    I think its the motherboard, any ideas?!
    Thanks in advance.

    What's all talk about install other drivers ?.
    This is old problem if you would check some old threats.
    Problem lies in ASUS mobo, nothing can fix this, yet.
    If you have ASUS mobo, use 40.41 Nvidia drivers with Coolbit to overclock you want be sorry.
    There is nothing in this flips that you miss.
    MSI support knows about this problem you can try to send them note, but they will not response.
    MSI support is one of the worst I have ever tried.
    Like you everthing else runs great.  I would be more unhappy about there is no hardware monitoring for G4ti, I thougt first it was in this flips but they only support it for G4 MX cards.  Don't know whey but I'm very angry and I will never get another MSI card.

  • Gnome 2.12 panel problem

    Hi,
    Yesterday I installed the Gnome 2.12 from testing, and I can't add certain items to the panel, like the clock, the windows list, the show desktop, the trash and so on, below is the error message after I tried to add the clock for example. The problem is the same for all users, including root.
    ========================
    The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet".
    Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?
    ========================
    Is there someone who is able to use these items ?

    I had the same problem and this is how I fixed it: I had a look at all the dependencies of gnome-applets and their dependencies (pacman -Qi) and started to sync what hadn't been sync'ed for whatever reason...the packages that got updated where libwnck and gdbm...
    So I guess running
    $ pacman -Sy libwnck gdbm
    should fix the problem

  • Gnome clock applet doesn't show weather

    For some reason, i think with the upgrade to gnome 2.22.1 from 2.22.0 the clock applet stopped showing the temperature and weather icon that it used to show.  I don't know why.  Anyone know of a reason?

    azleifel wrote:Just configured it as well - not something I've ever used before - and it worked for me.  What I did was add a location and check "Show weather" in the clock applet's Preferences dialog, closed the Preferences, clicked on the clock to bring up the calendar, clicked on Locations, hovered the mouse pointer over the location that I had added (which was under the world map) and clicked the "Set" button that appeared (which turned into a home icon).
    Excellent! This worked for me and it also told me how less of a normal user that relies on GUI I am these days. Before I'd almost certainly figure this out but nowadays I feel reluctant clicking-through for solutions. Rather read and google it up. Anyway, you saved me hours for which I'm thankful!
    d3br074 wrote:I tried what Azleifel suggested, but there was no "Set" button that I could find.  it just wasn't there!? and I have tried removing the clock and adding it again but no change.
    Did you actually put your mouse cursor over the big neat clock? Did you try to move it around the timezone area name, the time (all on the right side of the neat looking clock)? In my case - GNOME 2.32.0 - the button was called Edit. After I clicked it GNOME requested my user password (the one I've had a GNOME session running for) and once I entered it weather icon appeared on the far left side of the clock applet:
    rcorder wrote:
    Turns out, the clock applet will NOT show your weather/temp unless the timezone in your location matches the TIMEZONE variable set for your system (in /etc/rc.conf).  For me, I had to change mine from 'America/Los Angeles' to 'PST8PDT', which is what I had in my rc.conf.  After that, everything worked as expected.
    Here is the same bug reported in Ubuntu:
        http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-bugs … 54308.html
    Seems irrelevant. I had two different timezones and was able to get it working as described above. Nevertheless, I tried what you suggested and put a timezone I choose for weather report in clock applet and that did not show it until I clicked Set button and entered my password.

  • 9402 DAQmx C: Write Clock and Data on two diferrent lines.

    I am working with NI 9402 (4 I/O lines) and coding with DAQmx c (I AM NOT USING LABVIEW).
    I am trying to output the the data signal by port0/line1. Period required of each bit: 1us.(1 MHz)
    At the same time I am trying to output the clock signal by port0/line0. Period of each bit: 0,5us (2 MHz).
    For that purpose I have tried to write the data on port0/line1 with DAQmxWriteDigitalLines() and use the function DAQmxCfgBurstHandshakingTimingExportClock() to export the clock to port0/line0.
    DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(taskData,DATA_SIZE,1,30.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel,data,NULL,NULL));
    DAQmxCfgBurstHandshakingTimingExportClock(taskData,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps,2000000,1000.0,"cDAQ1Mod1/port0/line0",DAQmx_Val_ActiveHigh,DAQmx_Val_Low,DAQmx_Val_ActiveHigh));
    When exectuing I get this error message:
    DAQmx Error: Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property.
    Property: DAQmx_SampTimingType
    Requested Value: DAQmx_Val_BurstHandshake
    You Can Select: DAQmx_Val_SampClk, DAQmx_Val_OnDemand
    Task Name: taskData
    Status Code: 200077
    I guess that this mean that function DAQmxCfgBurstHandshakingTimingExportClock  is not supported on NI 9402..
    As I have not been able to solve this problemI decided to use DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming() instead of DAQmxCfgBurstHandshakingTimingExportClock().
    Since I will be using a SampClkTiming function I have created 2 separate tasks, with different clock rates for each one, and try to write separately the clock and the
    data arrays in line0 and line1.
    I am having troubles when I try to write both lines at the same time, this is the important part of the code I am using:
    TaskHandle  taskData=0,taskClock=0;
                  // DAQmx Configure Code
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateTask("taskData",&taskData));
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateTask("taskClock",&taskClock));
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateDOChan(taskClock,"cDAQ1Mod1/port0/line0","clkOut",DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine));
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateDOChan(taskData,"cDAQ1Mod1/port0/line1","",DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine));
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskData,NULL,1000000.0,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps)); //to define the 1 micro secnd Time of bit.
                  DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskClock,NULL,2000000.0,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps));
    //2000000 because I want the clock array to be sent twice faster than the data array
                  // Set data & clock Arrays
    Define the clock array:
                  for(i=0;i<1000;i++)              {clockD[i]=i%2;} /'1' and '0'
    Define data array:
                  for(i=0;i<1000;i++)              {data[i]=1;} // or whatever random values..
                  // Write digital lines
    while(1)              {
                                DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(taskData,1000,1,30.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel,data,NULL,NULL));
                                DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(taskClock,1000,1,30.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel,clockD,NULL,NULL));
    After executing this code I get the error:
    DAQmx Error: NI Platform Services:  The specified resource is reserved. The operation could not be completed as specified.
    Task Name: taskClock
    Status Code: 50103
    Nevertheless, If I just  use one of the DAQmxWriteDigitalLines function, the program works fine, and it send out the information ).
    By the way I noticed that if I Write a digital line in a for loop instead of while(1), if the number of iterations of the for loop is low (i.e. 10), I get the same error even if I just write call the DAQmxWriteDigitalLines() function once.
    Could these two errors be related ?
    To sum up:
    Could anyone give me a clue how two output a data signal and a clock signal  to 2 different ports with different clock rates for each signal ?
    Thank you very much

    One quick question about how you setup your timing:
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskData,NULL,1000000.0,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps));
    DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskData,NULL,1000000.0,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps));
    If you are only going to write 1000 finite samples, then why are you specifying the number of samples to write here as "DAQmx_Val_ContSamps" and not 1000? See: Sample Clock Timing Reference
    Also, I gather what you are trying to do is output the DO task's sample clock on line0, at the same time that the DO task is running. If that's true, you should be able to export your sample clock using the export signal function. See: Export Signal Reference
    Hope this helps.
