Gnome Errors ad startup and mouse arrow hungs

Today I've updated all the system using pacman -Syu
then I've installed ALSA
pacman -Sy alsa-lib alsa-utils
pacman -S alsa-oss
pacman -S alsa-plugins
setting the alsa deamon on startup on /etc/rc.conf file
now when I start Gnome with xinit, I get all the errors below (actually some of them where also before) and the mouse is not recognized anymore, so I cannot move the mouse pointer.
I've looked around but I didn't find any good info about fix them

  • T61-Fan Error on startup and cant boot in system

after Thinkpad logo, 2 short 'Bee' sound and 'fan error' message appears on the top left screen, then 1 'Bee' sound, laptop shut down. Althought can boot in system by pressing Esc when 'fan error' appears, but dont know this will damage something like circus or chips.
Anyone have same problem and solved it? Should I change the fan, and which fan (video car fan or cpu fan) is this problem about. I have a limited warranty dont know if the fan is included.
    Thanks

Fan is covered by warranty, when fan stops spinning then it would usually cause this error.

  • Netscape.cfg error on startup and no linking from other programs...

When I start up Firefox 4.0.1, it gives an error message regarding a netscape.cfg file. If I happened to use a link embedded in an email to open Firefox, it does not appropriately link -- instead it still goes to my homepage. If Firefox is already open, it will link from another program.
I am not the only person having this problem.

    Menchar,
Where did you get this application, and has it ever worked before? What version of Measurement Studio, Visual Studio, and NI-Daq was it built on ? If it has worked before, what changed, and is it possible to strip down any parts, so you can test the pieces individually rather than the program as a whole? Also are you getting NTDLL errors while doing anything else on this computer? It may be a corrupt NTDLL.dll file http://www.downloadatoz.com/howto/How-to-resolve-ntdll-dll-error.html.
You can view the OCX file path if you  go to Project » Add to Project » Components and Controls and select a specific CW control under the Registered ActiveX Controls. I have attached a screenshot showing an OCX file pat.

  • My "9-o-l-." keys stop working after startup, and spreading! ahh help?

My "9-O-L-." keys stop working after startup and my arrow keys too.
Sometimes when I start up the keys will work for a bit then one by one stop functioning and then randomly work every so often, then it seems to "spread" to the right shift key, and sometimes the "8-I-K-," keys.
Around the same time when this all began my Battery completely stopped working too, does this have anything to do with it? I've reset my PRAM and no luck.
I'm planning on replacing the keyboard, will that fix the problem? or is it something deeper?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Andrew

I assume you've rebooted? Can you control the computer well enough to make a new account and log into it? Doubt this will fix it but maybe. The keyboard may need replacing but it might also be that the cable has worked loose so that some of the wires have disconnected but not all. Sounds like a trip or call to Apple is in order.

I tried to update my 4s to the latest ios6. itunes came back and said there was an unexpected error. the screen on the phone is hung showing a usb cable and an arrow pointing to the itunes icon. itunes does not see the phone as being plugged into my computer. I restarted itunes, no difference. I can't seem to reset the phone. It comes up with the apple icon and then goes back to the usb plug screen. I'm totally hosed right now!!!

    Error 1604:
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Why am I recently unable to use my mouse to scroll email topics or content?  I can only use the up and down arrows keys to scroll.

Why am I recently unable to use my mouse to scroll email topics or content?  I can only use the up and down arrows keys to scroll. I am able to use my mouse to scroll through internet searches.  It only seems to have affected my email messages.

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • ThinkPad Yoga Synaptics TouchPad Error msg on Windows 7 startup and loss of gesture functions

I fresh installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my ThinkPad Yoga after getting fed up with windows 8.1. I now get the following error msg on each startup and the trakpad features do not work:
"synaptics touchpad 64-bit enhancements has stopped working"
I can use the mouse but non of the gestures work. I have not been able to find any other posts with similiar issues on the Yoga so any help on this would be most appreciated. The device driver installed was taken from the lonovo site and is the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav. Version 18.0.7.34 (N10GX08W)"

Just when I was happy that major issues have been resolved by constant updating, I am now experiencing this frightening problem. Mostly during startup, and lately in the middle of working, the screen freezes, shows very damaged image (like TV noise), produces the most unpleasant sound through the speakers and nothing works. I need to restart and hope that it will be ok. Sometimes it requires 2 or 3 restarts, going to safe-mode and returning back to get the issue resolved.
This has happened three or 4 times within 24 hrs. I searched in the forum and for another model it was suggested that epresscache might be the cause. I disabled the service, but the problem reappeared even then.
    Any help please:
This is what appears on the screen when the computer freezes and produces loud unpleasant noise sound.

Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

  • Using Maverick in two screen setup sometimes the mouse arrow follows the menu bar when I switch screens, and sometimes not. Sometimes the menu bar is on one screen and the mouse is on the other. What am I missing?

Am looking for a simple way to move the mouse arrow to the other screen. Must I go to Apple/System prefs? I assume the mouse arrow and the menu bar should stay together. OK, but how do I access the dock when it is not on the screen with the mouse arrow? Is the Dock unmoveable? What is needed, I guess, is a master screen with mouse, dock and menu bar, and the option to select which screen is master with all those commands available.

    You're Welcome...
    Another silly suggestion...
Have you done a Restart since you were fiddling around with various settings...?

  • Javascript error at startup, file open and shutdown

I am using Dreamweaver CC on Windows 7, 64-bit.  Starting with the last CC update to Dreamweaver, I get a javascript error at DW startup, file open and DW shutdown.  The application seems to work fine, but the errors happen everytime and are always the same.  At startup, it complains that a variable bcinit does not exist in file "BusinessCatalyst."  At file open, the error is in file "_onOpen" onOpen is not defined and at shutdown, in file "TeamAdminTempDelete" delTempFile is not defined.
I have no idea what is going on.  Any suggestions?

When I download the digital copy of the Hunger Games, it stops at 4.0GB and first returns an error code -1309 and then the code -50. Please help me complete the download. I have tried removing the .tmp folder and downloading it again, but each time it stops the download in the same place.

I discovered the solution. The external drive I was saving it to was formatted as FAT32. In that format, the largest files can only be 4GB, which explains why it kept stopping at 4GB. I backed up all the files then reformatted it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), this is possible since I am on an iMac.

  • Trojan or Virus? Mouse and trackpad arrow keep returning to one spot

This just started happening today (Nov.21, 2008) after I used wireless internet at two different Starbucks locations.
My mouse arrow and trackpad arrow both keep returning to the middle and left-hand area of my screen. I can move my arrow for about half a second, but then it immediately returns to the exact same spot.
Both my bluetooth and wireless are always on. Has anyone heard of this problem yet? I'm currently running Norton Antivirus to check for any nasties.
    Let me know, thanks.

There are no viruses active on a Mac. The only trojans would require you downloading a .dmg file, extracting a program and executing it. If you download and execute unknown programs, then you may have a trojan, although I don't think it affects the cursor. Why don't you just try shutting the computer down for 30 seconds and then restarting. If that doesn't do the trick then you may have a third-party utility you've installed that could be causing a problem. Try booting into safe mode to see what happens. If that doesn't work then try creating a new user account then log into the new account to see what happens.
