Gnome-gmail-notifier [libsoup problem]

Hi,
I am trying to orphan the package gnome-gmail-notifier, but i ran into this problem. I only edited the PKGBUILD to match the new version and edited the download link. Now i am having some problems running ./configure
No package 'libsoup-2.2' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables libsoup_CFLAGS
and libsoup_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
==> ERROR: Build Failed.
If i understand it correctly , it is looking for the libary libsoup wich in arch is called libsoup
/usr/lib/
libsoup-2.4.so
libsoup-2.4.so.1
libsoup-2.4.so.1.2.0
How could i let the ./configure use libsoup-2.4 as libary?

The problem is that gnome-gmail-notifier needs libsoup 2.2 while in the repo we have libsoup 2.4. Gnome-gmail-notifier needs to be patched to build/work with the latest libsoup. Try googling, maybe there's a patch available.

  • Problem with Gmail Notifier

I"m not sure if anyone here can help, but I figured it was worth a try. Most of the time now my Gmail Notifier icon is showing that it's not connected and when I click on it it says 'server certificate not yet valid' When I click this, it say page invalid.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help,

  • GMAIL Notifier 1.8.2 - Suddenly stopped working

    Hello all -
I'm an avid gmail user and have loved the gmail notifier for some time. I recently downloaded the new 1.8.2 update and it had worked pretty well for about 2-3 days.
Now it'll just sit running - Not collecting any email messages though I have new messages in my inbox. I constantly try to "refresh" and still nothing.
So are any of you Gmail Notifier Users experiencing the same problem? I know in the past they have had problems like this for days at a time where they change the referenced site to collect email and it doesn't properly update within the program.
I've also noted the same problem with the program Gee, another gmail notifier type program - though maybe 1/10 of the time was able to collect a message count.
    Thanks!

Seems it is widespread problem with Notifier itself as per this thread:
    http://groups.google.com/group/Gmail-Problem-solving/browse_thread/thread/77aad7 8bcecbc1fa/accac1e987e1c947#accac1e987e1c947
I just checked on my old PC notebook - Notifier is not working as well - it is Gmail's problem.

  • GMail Notifier & GMail widgets not working

    Hey there...
For some strange reason neither of my GMail notifier or GMail widget works on my 20" iMac Core Duo. And yes they DID work yesterday. Hmmm... I have repaired disk permissions, AppZapped GMail notifier and reinstalled (same with the widget), and they still wont work!
The notifier won't show new mail, and the widget just keeps flashing the gmail logo as if it is still trying to access gmail to see if i have new mail.
Could it possible be a blocked port or something?
    Cheers in advance.

You are not alone and it is not the fault of your new toy!
We are all having this problem - Google has been aware of the problem for atleast a week and is supposedly working on a fix.
You'll notice the issue can be reproduced in google widgets, the application GmailStatus and all the other 3rd party programs one can use to check their Gmail - It's not you - It's them : - )

  • Is firefox 11.0 compatible with the gmail notifier?

i want gmail to be my default mail handler in windows xp pro, but it won't allow me do so. one suggested solution is to begin with g-mail notifier, and then proceed to several other steps. is firefox 11.0 compatible with gmail notifier? any other suggestions appreciated.

    This is a little confusing.
Google has a program named Gmail Notifier that works at the Windows OS level. Since it isn't installed as a Firefox add-on, version compatibility shouldn't be an issue.
    Download: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html<br>
Default email client: [http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10966&topic=1153986&ctx=topic Making Gmail your default mail application - Gmail Help]
There is an add-on named Gmail Notifier that was last updated for Firefox 3.6. That will not work in Firefox 11, but I don't think this one is what you're looking for.
    Does that help?

  • Gmail Notifier issues

I've had Gmail Notifier on my iMac for a year with no issues.
On my Macbook, I get an error that "Gmail Notifier unexpectedly quit." I want to delete and re-install it. But when I try to move it to the Trash, it says that the program is running and can't be deleted. When my cursor is on the notifier at the top of my screen, I get a beachball, but I can't force quit the program - its as if the system doesn't recognize that its still running...
    ideas?

Nope - unfortunately, that didn't fix it.
As soon as I restart, i get the error msg that Google Notifier unexpectedly quit.
Still beachball, still no way to force quit. I managed to download it again and it worked for a few minutes, then the same thing happened.
No issues with this on my iMac at all - only on the Macbook.

  • Gmail Notifier Mail Check Settings

Is there a way to adjust the time interval that Gmail Notifier checks for new mail?
Within settings for the notifier there is no option but wondered if there was some setting within OS X that could control it?
Some times I will get new email notification, open and delete the email but it takes close to 10 minutes for new mail notice to clear and show no new emails.
I wanted it to poll like every 3 minutes.
    Thanks

    Guess nobody know....oh well

  • Gmail sign in problems when using Firefox in Windows 8

I haven't quite figured out under what circumstances this does or does not happen, but many times when I boot up my new Windows 8 computer, launch Firefox (in 'desktop' mode, not 'metro,' if that makes a difference(, and go to http://gmail.com, I cannot sign in to my gmail account. After entering the username and password, the sign in simply 'hangs' or freezes. There is a sign in progress bar that normally disappears in a blink of the eye, but instead it just stays there, empty, and the sign in process is never completed. Clearing the cache and cookies resolves this problem, but it is annoying to have to do this every time I boot up my computer. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a known solution?

Thanks, iamjayakumars. It was clearly something in one particular user account on the computer (there are several, and only one user seemed to have the problem). Since it's a new computer, I just wiped that user from Windows 8 and started from scratch. Problem seems to be solved. So, as your help file suggests, there probably was something in that user profile's setting folder causing issues, and a clean start as a new user (hopefully) resolved it.

  • [Gnome - GDM] Locale/Charset Problem

    Hi everybody,
I´m using Gnome with GDM as Display Manager.
I got a problem with my keyboard settings, but don´t know why
The first charset/locale option is set in the /boot/grub/menu.lst
    kernel /vmlinuz26 lang=de locale=de_DE.UTF8 root=/dev.....
I use a LUKS encrypted /home partition and need a german locale/charset for the passphrase/during bootup.
The second charset option is in my /etc/rc.conf:
    LOCALE="de_DE.UTF8"
    KEYMAP="de"
With those settings I got an almost "normal" keyboard behaviour.
The Umlaut-Character for example arent´t working during bootup or in a tty. In a later started shell inside of Gnome everything works fine.
The second charset problem is during password input inside GDM. The layout isn´t working right here either.
I already tried the ./dmrc settings of Language and Keys, but nothing works.
Anyone got a clue how to fix that?

Maybe you can change the subject of this thread, as the issue is not only related to gdm, IMHO.
I don't get it either. Settings are LOCALE="sv_SE"  and KEYMAP="sv-latin1" in rc.conf and locale -a gives me
    [root@localhost ~]# locale -a
    C
    POSIX
    sv_SE
    sv_SE.iso88591
    swedish
But something is still wrong, because calling up some manpages gives me
Cannot open the message catalog "man" for locale "sv_SE"
    (NLSPATH="<none>")
I ran locale-gen, but I'm pretty lost in this locale business too...

  • A while ago I asked why I could send pictures thru my verizon/outlook email, but I send it thru gmail now no problems.

I asked before why I could not send pictures thru my verizon email or my work (outlook email thru my phone) but only by wifi.
If I took it off wifi the pictures go through, no problem. SO I go through gmail no problems but never got an answer why it doesn't go through in the first place.
Anyway, wondering if the following is related.  Once a day, I do get a message on my phone, "sign in failed", which has to do with my verizon account.
I have tried to google this question but I am getting no where. my password has not changed, its not affecting my receiving emails.

The issues outlined in your message appear to be associated with authentincation lucass1428! Try changing the password for the email rendering the sign in failed error, and test. Keep us posted.

  • [SOLVED] gnome-screenshot in gnome3 problem

    Hi,
When I try to take a screen shot using printscr, or in the command line using
    gnome-screenshot
I only get a picture of my background.
    $ gnome-screenshot
** (gnome-screenshot:1908): DEBUG: The GetProfileForWindow request failed: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.ColorManager was not provided by any .service files
The same thing happens with gcolor2:  When I try to grab a color from a window it returns the color
    from my background instead.
Using gnome shell's screen cast functionality works just fine.
Any ideas to how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

    Removing
    Option "Shadow" "True"
from my xorg configuration solved the problem.
I enabled this option earlier to troubleshoot a freezing problem (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … tel_driver).

  • IPad 2 IOS6 Gmail sending photos problem

I can send photos by using insert photo or paste a previously copied photo within the IPAD mail app (Gmail using Exchange Activesync) but if I use webmail - safari or chrome - the pasted photo is visible in the body of the email to be sent but missing from the received email. Any ideas?

    Confirm the same problem here.
I have Nikon D300. Problems with portrait pictures only. I just kept trying like the following:
    - when it hit a portrait photo, it fails, I stop the import
    - try from where it failed, keep trying until it works
    - the photo app may crash, try again
    - until I got everything imported
    Flaky!!
I also have a Lumix GF3. I import directly using the SD card. No issue.

  • Gnome App "Covers" Screen Problem

I have recently noticed a problem with my Gnome installation. When I start up the machine and log in (I use GDM), If I don't touch the keyboard or mouse after entering my password, the screen will look as if a semi-transparent application starts and covers the entire screen. I run Compiz and have alpha-transparencies blurred. Through the blur I can see the clock in the panel still ticking off the seconds, etc. If I move the mouse, the screen returns to normal. If I wait until the screensaver starts, the screensaver acts normal, and moving the mouse after that results in normal operation as usual.
I have tried to find out what app (or setting) is responsible for this, but have no more ideas. I have tried:
    1) Running "top" as soon as I log in, but then (since I have touched the keyboard and/or mouse) the problem never occurs.
    2) I have checked for a "hidden" startup app or daemon and can't find anything. I checked both ~/.config/autostart and in the Gnome Startup Apps.
Does anyone have any other ideas about how to find out what app is doing this?
Here is a screenshot of what I see:

What if you run a little script that opens a terminal and runs top automatically at login?

  • Gmail Security Certificate problem

I have Mail setup to access three Gmail via IMAP (I was using POP until a week ago). Whe ntrying to check messages (sinc, I guess), I get the following problem message (for the three accounts) in regards to a "security certificate" being POP when I trying to use IMAP. Not sure what is going here... I checked my Gmail settings 3 times and all is set for IMAP from that end. Obviously I haven't been able to access messages from Mail since then. Suggestions?

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.
