Gnome-libs missing from OEL5?

I'm trying to install HTTP Server off the 10.2 companion CD on OEL5. (Yes I know, unsupported!) I'm running into the "libdb.so.2 missing" issue and trying to troubleshoot it.
From what I've gathered, this file used to be a part of other libraries, but eventually moved into compat-db at some point. However, it no longer appears to be part of the compat-db that ships with OEL5 (compat-db-4.2.52-5.1). Instead I've gathered that it's now found in gnome-libs (confirmed this from FC6 through yum whatprovides libdb.so.2 against a FC6 repository).
gnome-libs does not appear to be part of OEL5... is that normal? Trying to find a sane place to download it from...

By the way, I just forcibly installed gnome-libs from FC7 and the HTTP server starts...

    webservices.jar is missing from WL_HOME/server/lib in WLS 12c. Was it replaced by a different jar or is this a new implementation i'm unfamiliar with? It does appear in all versions up to 11g.
    Without it i won't be able to migrate my application to 12c from the older versions...

    hi,
    In the 12.1.1 release, the 8.1 WebLogic Web services run time has been removed. So you will no longer see the webservices.jar file

  • OpenOffice,xscreensaver,gnome-libs not in OEL 5.5

    Hallo!I recently installed Oracle 10g in OEL 5.5.Some of the prerequisite software needed to install 10g rpms e.g xscreensaver and gnome-libs are not in the OEL 5.5 installation CDs/DVD.
    Though I successfully installed Oracle 10g in OEL 5.5,I am concerned that the lack of these s/w mentioned above could result in future errors.Is this so and if it is,what are the nature of the problems that I might get.
    I was also surprised that OpenOffice also isnt there.
    All these rpms are available in OEL 4.7 where I had previously installed Oracle 10g.
    Thanks.

    Requirements for 10gR2 were made for OEL 4.7.
    Regarding gnome-libs, there is a compatibility library already installed as part of the gdbm-1.8.0-xx.x.x install. To satisfy the 10g installer requirements you can ceate the following symlink: ln -s /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 /usr/lib/libdb.so.2
    You can also use runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs.
    The following url addresses 10gR2 installation on OEL5:
    Re: Oracle 10g r2 for OEL5
    EPEL will give you additional packages from Fedora distribution that you can install with yum
    sudo su -
    rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpmOpenOffice: http://download.openoffice.org/ (or maybe check out Koffice if it will suit your needs).

  • [solved] Gnome3 - installation issues (missing lib / missing bin)

    Hi everyone,
    i tried to install Gnome 3 from testing.
    However i ran into some problems.
    Problem 1:
    While installing I get some "gtk-update-icon-cache: command not found" errors. They come from install scripts that are executed while upgrading.
    I am 100% sure that the gtk-update-icon-cache binary is present in /usr/lib before executing pacman -Syu.
    After pacman the binary is gone, reinstalling the package helps. So it seems some package breaks something here. (Don't know exactly which though, because there are plenty installed when upgrading)
    Problem 2:
    Just for the records: I'm using arch x86_64 and my repo order is
    - testing
    - multilib-testing
    - community-testing
    - core
    - extra
    - community
    nothing else.
    Upgrading itself works fine. Gnome 3 starts and fallback mode (gnome-panel) works from what I can see. (starting programs, including nautlilus, works well)
    But when I try to start gnome-shell (with or without the --replace option) I get an "error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-3.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
    Sometimes it is libgdk instead of gtk.
    Additional information:
    Using an Lenovo x200 with intel graphics. intel-dri is installed.
    I used compiz in gnome2, could that arise some problems?
    It does not work with a new user account also.
    If you need any further information to help me, feel free to ask. I tried the search engine but couldn't find any results regarding gtk-update-icon-cache or libgtk-x11. (Searching the packages via google seems to show that no package contains these files?!)
    Thank you very much
    David

    Benjamin,
    WebUtil tries to download the jacob.dll to the client. The error message you get is most likely caused by teh following section in teh webutil.cfg file
    install.syslib.location=/webutil
    ## Do not change the following lines unless instructed to do so
    install.syslib.0.7.1=jacob.dll|94208|1.0|true
    install.syslib.0.9.1=JNIsharedstubs.dll|65582|1.0|true
    install.syslib.0.9.2=d2kwut60.dll|192512|1.0|true
    ## But you can add your own libraries in here
    #install.syslib.0.user.1=testwebutil.dll|204872|1.0|true
    If you have all these files available on the PC, then most likely the problem can be found in the virtual path setting for this directory
    <virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil"
    real-path="c:/webutil/lib" />
    in /j2ee/Oracle9iDS/application-deployments/forms/forms90web/orion-web.xml
    Pleae refer to the webutil documentation for teh exact configuration steps.
    Hope this helps
    Frank

  • [SOLVED] - Package xf86-video-via is missing from repositories!

    Hi,
    I have a VIA card as follows:
    VGA Compatible Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter (rev 01)
    My X doesn't work except in VESA mode. But in Vesa mode, when I play videos in mplayer, I can't fullscreen them.
    When I checked the sample xorg.conf files mentioned in the Xorg wiki, I find that I am advised to use the xf86-video-via package.
    But the package xf86-video-via is missing from repositories!
    pacman -Ss xf86-video-via doesn't give results!
    Please help.
    Thanks.

  • Can't compile gnome-libs

    Yes... I know gtk1 and gnome-libs are horribly outdated but until there is a terminal that has *all* the features of multi-gnome-terminal I'm dependent on it
    So... I'm trying to compile gnome-libs 1.4.1.2 and ./configure breaks at the following point
    checking for dbopen... no
    checking for dbopen in -ldb... no
    checking for dbopen in -ldb1... no
    checking for __db185_open in -ldb-3... no
    configure: error: Your db library is missing db 1.85 compatibility mode
    I tried ABS to add the compilation flag, but it already seems to be there:
    build() {
    cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver/build_unix
    ../dist/configure --prefix=/usr --enable-compat185 \
    --enable-shared --enable-static --enable-cxx
    I rebuilt it anyway but to no avail.
    Anyone know why ./configure doesn't think db has 1.85 compatibility and how to rectify?

    i'm afraid not... It does create a new set of lib files (libdb3 opposed to libdb4) and I even removed the libdb4 files to incase somehow it was still finding those but I can't get over that error.
    I'm trying a different route now though - I used pkgextract to extract a gnome-libs RPM and I'll just plop those in place.  I tried that for all of multi-gnome-terminals dependencies but it croaked upon started so I'll try with just gnome-libs and compiling the rest.

  • Adobe reader plugin missing from firefox plugins list on redhat 6.1

    Hello,
    I'm having a problem with putting adobe reader 9 plugin installed on firefox 3.6.17 on redhat 6.1 (64bit)
    (Not recreatable on redhat 5.4 with same versions of reader and firefox)
    Even though nppdf.so appears in the directory /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory with 755 permissions,
    when I start firefox, it is missing from the plugins list.
    How can I ensure it is properly installed or what steps can I take to debug the problem deeper?
    Thanks!!

  • Libraries missing from Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV?

    Dear all,
    I am trying to play Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings II in native (32-bit, of course) mode in my 64-bit Arch Linux workstation, and I can't get any of those games to run as I keep getting weird errors.
    More specifically, by running steam with the :
    myhost ~> LD_DEBUG="libs" steam
    command and trying to launch Europa Universalis IV, I get errors such as:
          3825:     /home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/eu4: error: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol: __RML_open_factory (fatal)
          3825:     /home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/eu4: error: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol: __cilkrts_watch_stack (fatal)
    I also tried to run Europa Universalis IV under strace to narrow down the cause of the problem, and I got:
    myhost ~/.local/share/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV> strace ./eu4
    open("/home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/libirml.so.1", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
    time(NULL)                              = 1388270839
    sched_getaffinity(8517, 128, {f, 0})    = 16
    open("/home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/libcilkrts.so", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
    --- SIGABRT {si_signo=SIGABRT, si_code=SI_TKILL, si_pid=8517, si_uid=1001} ---
    +++ killed by SIGABRT (core dumped) +++
    zsh: abort (core dumped)  strace ./eu4
    From what I understand, it looks like the libirml.so.1 and libcilkrts.so libraries are missing from the Europa Universalis IV package. Crusader Kings II has exactly the same problem.
    Has any of you had the same problem? Do you have any suggestion on where to find / how to install the aforementioned libirml.so.1 and libcilkrts.so libraries? I couldn't find any package on the AUR that provides them.
    I am not an expert in Intel-provided software development tools, but it looks like those are simply redistributable binaries. So, I would guess this should be a relatively easy problem to fix.
    Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

    I don't really understand how this sort of stuff works. But I can tell you that EU4 works fine for me without having either of those libraries on my system.
    As you can see below, I get the same output as you do when performing the tests you did. The game launches fine despite this though. So I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere for clues.
    23707: ./eu4: error: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol: __RML_open_factory (fatal)
    23707: ./eu4: error: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol: __cilkrts_watch_stack (fatal)
    open("/home/ziemas/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/libirml.so.1", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
    open("/home/ziemas/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/libcilkrts.so", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

  • Compiling gnome-libs for gnucash

    I'm trying to install gnucash. The dependencies include gnome-libs 1.4 . I'm compiling gnome-libs but I get an error:
    #define art_alloc
    #define art_free
    #define art_realloc
    #define art_new (type, n)
    #define art_renew (p, type, n)
    Description
    These API functions are a set of wrapper functions around the OS-specific
    memory management functions: they are used to keep the user-level code portable.
    Their definitions are straighforward so we will not get into any details.
    XXX: check for g_new behaviour when memory allocation problem.
    Details
    art_alloc
    art_alloc#define art_alloc malloc
    Same semantics as those of the standard C malloc function.
    art_free
    art_free#define art_free free
    Same semantics as those of the standard C free function.
    art_realloc
    art_realloc#define art_realloc realloc
    Same semantics as those of the standard C realloc function.
    art_new()
    art_new#define art_new(type, n) ((type *)art_alloc ((n) * sizeof(type)))
    This macro is not equivalent to the glib g_new function. As
    g_new, it takes two parameters: the type of the object to
    instantiate as first parameter and the number of such objects to instantiate as
    second parameter. It will return a dynamically allocated array of memory you can
    use to store objects in. In case of failure of the memory allocation, it will
    return NULL (this is very diffrent from g_new which does not
    return in case of failure. g_new allways suceeds).typemake[4]: *** [html-build.stamp] Error 1

    make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
    I already installed g-wrap & ORbit & slib . when i type "./configure" it exits very well without any errors. What dependency do I need or what is the problem? My archlinux is already upgraded. This error is when I type "make".
    Thanks.

    AFAIK the gtk2 port of gnucash has a long way to go before it is usable, hence the lack of attention given to it on the website.
    But it is possible to run gnucash on archlinux - I've been doing this for a couple of months.
    If you want to have a play with the pkgbuilds I used for this, grab http://www.burnett-hall.co.uk/~ojbh/arc … 722.tar.gz.  There isn't anything too surprising in there; a few fixes for stuff like gcc-3.4, freetype2, etc.
    Note that this includes a package I've called gdk-pixbuf-gnome-canvas.  gdk-pixbuf is part of current, but does not include gnome1 support.  You'll need to use --force or something to get pacman to install it.
    gnome-libs build fine for me; I'm not sure what's causing the errors you got - they look very strange.  Were you doing a parallel make or using some silly gcc optimisations?

    MissingFieldException[ The following required field is missing from the launch file: <jnlp>]

    On the forum where is the game developed i got the following answer:
    ''+it seems your OS/jre installation tries to start the jar as an applet which fails, because it's a regular application and not an applet. is there any way you can convince your jre to start LS as an application? i would like to give better/more detailed advice, but i'm not running windows, so i can't check for myself/try to work out a step-by-step guide.+ ''
    As I have browsed the internet for hours and haven't come up with a solution I'm asking for some help.

    That error seems to indicate that the JNLP file is broken because it is missing the starting starting <jnlp> XML tag; I'll take a guess and just say that it is completely empty. Since it works for other users, apparently somehow when you download it on your computer you end up with a broken file. No idea why, no way for me to know why either. I don't have access to your computer. All I can say is: try in another browser and if that doesn't work, try on another computer. If it works there, well then you may have to face the fact that your computer might need a clean install.
    And PS: this is a Java programming forum, not technical support for whatever game you want to play that just happens to use Java.

  • Downloads missing from dock

    Both the downloads icon and the documents icon are missing from the dock.  I try to drag them from Finder and nothing happens.  Where they should be there are very light grey bars.  This sounds odd, but I think they got pulled below the dock.  Sometime they appear in grey behind the dock but cannot be opened by clicking on them.  How do I get them back.

    (this is not going to solve it but it will help us see what you're saying. can you hit shift+cmd+4 at the same time, the cursor will become crosshairs. now hit space bar. the cursor should become a camera. place this camera on the dock, the dock should be highlighted when doing this, and click the mouse.
    A picture will be saved on your dock, upload that picture here for us to see.
    if you have your dock hidden this will not work, you'll need to right clickt he track where it separates your applications with the trash icon and then right click that go to dock preferences and then uncheck automatically hide and show dock. you can also access these settings in system preferences>dock
    should look something like this (I customized my dock so it won't look exactly like this but it will isolate your dock

    Started a Itunes software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

    There are a couple of options that I know of to fix the issue.
    One is listed in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606478#24606478 - and involves uninstalling iTunes and related components and then re-installing iTunes.  You will need to read the instructions in the thread to see the correct uninstall order.
    Second option is use System Restore to set your system back to a date prior to the iTunes update.  I did this before finding the thread mentioned above.
    Not sure exactly what the problem is but I know, after a search, that MSVCR80.dll was indeed already installed on my computer.
