Gnome native dvd burner - show file sizes before a burn on dirs?

Is there a way to get a gnome-native dvd burning app to show the filesizes of user added folders before a burn?  In other words:
Blank DVD
-Folder 1 (3.2 Gb)
-Folder 2 (0.4 Gb)
I have tried in both gnomebaker and brasero but can't do it.  The only app that does is k3b and it requires tons of kde libs to run.

Hi, you can upload screenshots hear, limited to 2 NB I think, by using the little Camera icon in a reply.
Apple thinks we don't need to no anything & things should just work, of course they often don't & the lack of, or difficulty of finding useful info is no help... & it's getting worse.
Some things are easier on Macs, some on Windows.
I suspect you're copying from some iPhoto or fancier App's folder, which may contain icons & such of the real thing.

    Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

    I would like to limit the size of the file the user is uploading to, say, 2MB.
    The problem is that the current API doesn't allow me to check the file size before I store it in IWDResource. The API available for IWDResource:
    IWDResource resource = ...
    InputStream stream = resource.read(false);
    size = stream.available();
    Is working on the file only AFTER storing it in the context and the server's memory. This way, if a user decides to upload 1GB file for example, he can easily crash the server.
    I am already familiar with <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00062266-3aa9-2910-d485-f1088c3a4d71">this</a> arcticle but it doesn't answer this question as well, all it does is calculating the file size only after storing it in the context.
    Any ideas...?

    You are mixing '$' and '#' expressions that are evaluated in different phases of the lifecycle.

    How can I add the file size to the icon view "File Info" for images?
    I know how to get it to display the image size under View Options. In this mode it shows pixel dimensions for some images (not for svg or pdfs tho) and file size for some non-images (rar, zip, but not txt or plain text files).
    Is there some plist I can modify?

  • Can't download files, shows file size is "-1bytes"

    Hello, recently when I try to download files they do not start up immediately like they used to, and when they do it shows the file size of the file is "-1bytes". But, when I use a download manager to download it, it downloads just fine.
    This isn't just 1 website in particular it happens for all the websites. I tried uninstalling FireFox, and installing it again and I still can't download anything.

    That may be a bug. Firefox shows a size of -1 if the size is unknown instead of suppressing the file size.<br />
    You can ignore that if the file down;loads fine.

    Any way to show the file size column in a smart folder? I'd like to be able to sort the search results by size.

    That's pretty frustrating. I'd like to be able to view the Folder name in a Smart Folder but it doesn't seem like that's possible either. I just created a Smart Folder to show all my TGB projects. Unfortunately, I have 12 items all named project.t2dproj so I have to click each file and look at the path to know what it is. Not very helpful for my usage.

    Hey, I've been making short movies each day and I have to upload them on deadline but I've been late twice now b/c the file sizes were so large that they couldn't upload in time. Is there anyway to know how large the QT movie will be before I export the project? That way, I won't have any more wasted effort to include things that I later have to cut due to file size and countdown to deadline. Thanks!
    My project have been in the way of 31-65 MB and they take at least 30 minutes to upload to our cms.

    Unfortunately there's no way to know what the file size will be before you export. 35-60MB is actually not bad for a movie file, but if you need it smaller play with the FCE compression settings.

    File size is not one of the options for the Loupe View Info panel. However, in Library Mode, you can vie wthe file size in Mb of each picture in the Metadata panel, as shown in this screen grab;

  • Show file size in Cell Extras? (Either Compact or Expanded, or anywhere in Grid for multiple images simultaneously)

    I've searched and seen several suggestions saying to change Metadata to Exif & IPTC to see the file size, but that's for only one image at a time. Under Cell Extras (both Compact and Expanded) I see options for Megapixeps, Cropped Dimensions, File Name, Extention, and a bunch of other options, but no file size. I suspect this is because file size isn't a metadata field and simply a file attribute (that may be incorrect, but regardless...) is there really no way to have file size visible in the thumbnail cells in Grid view in the Library? I'm trying to reduce redundancy and viewing file size of multiple images at a glance based on my Library Filter criteria would be a huge help. Thanks to anyone who can help sort me out!

I have a catalog with 22,000 images indiscriminately imported from hundreds of folders and multiple drives from this year alone (partially lost a RAID array to a corrupt index and recovered a dump of the files so I'm terribly disorganized juggling emergency redundancy backups wherever I had 50 gigs here, 100 gigs there, and working to clean up and organize my photos one year at a time ), including raw, jpg, websized jpg, png, tiff and psd (flattened and with layers/adjustments) and am now trying to identify my keepers and delete unnecessary files. I have 22 terabytes of personal files and photography spread chaotically and while I now have proper discipline when saving variants, I didn't always and want to remove unneeded, rejected, and duplicate images. I don't expect to be caught up for months or longer depending on my free time and sanity. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as keep the raw delete the rest. Sometimes I have multiple PSD documents with different version names and edits, sometimes with multiple layers, and I have to use a variety of information to identify which one is indeed the correct one to keep...or open them all/both.
    Often, file size can be an indicator for me and aids in making the decision more quickly. For instance between 2 psd files with the same Megapixles I'm often able to identify the flattened version vs the layers intact version by file size if it wasn't properly noted in the filename, which unfortunately due to a combination of bad or evolving practices and being tired or rushed happens more often than I'd like to admit. One I just came across that brought me here searching was 3 similarly named and appearing PSD files of a panorama, all with the same MP/dimensions. One was flattened, one was the original stitch, and one was flattened with a few masks, adjustments, and an extra layer, and being the one I'd want to keep. Filesize helped me quickly identify which was which. Also sometimes dimensions are misleading, like when a panorama is first created and uncropped, its dimensions are larger, but a tighter cropped image with multiple layers and a larger file size indicates to me that it is newer and more finished, even though smaller dimensions typically indicates a crop and may not be a 'master' copy. Additionally, 2 images with different names but the exact same file size are very likely duplicates (at least in my workflow) but 2 similarly looking images with the same dimensions could be retouched/not, sharpened/not, have noise reduction/not, and I'd have to view them in detail to determine if they were in fact identical. For my purposes (since these are my personal fine art images & I have the raw files incase I occasionally mess up) I'm often willing to trade an educated guess for my time. Seeing identical file sizes on 2 apparently similar images is good enough for me to delete one.
    I can select them individually and check...it's not a horrific problem. But it would save me time so I was hoping I had simply missed how to view that. My reasoning is 'why not' have the option available with all the others? Me personally, I don't care about megapixels when I already have the dimensions, that's just redundant and honestly much less helpful than LxW. File size would be an additional tool I would use, though. There are other examples but the main thing is that I do spend time checking filesize, and specifically when comparing multiple images, so having it displayed in the cell would be a time saver for me.

    Based on the 4 minute pixar movie I downloaded. That is 20mb. So I'd say 200-300mb depending on the exact length.
    Don't remember how long the short took to donwload, I'd say several minutes. I seem to remember Steve Jobs saying it would take about the time of 5 albums in iTunes.

  • "Sony_Volume_Recorder_Volume DVD" not showing files

    Hi all,
    I had some video tapes transferred onto dvd by a local company. When I got them
    home I tried to open the dvd on my Mac to transfer files onto my hard drive but I got the message
    above "SonyVolume_RecorderVolume DVD" with small no entry symbol on the folder. I have done a bit of research so I know Sony is not compatible with Mac (- I wish I knew before I had them transferred!) but I don't know how to get these video files to show so that I can save them?
    I must stress, these are my home videos; I own the rights to them. I just want to be able to
    save them and maybe edit them iMovie.
    Is there some special software I can buy to open these sony dvds? I read about
    the Terminal thingy; but when I am wary about going into the "guts" of the computer?
    I did try some "sudo" thing in Terminal I found on the internet, but it didn't work.
    Can anyone help? Am really frustrated at not being able to save these precious memories properly.

    the format is Universal Disk Format (UDF)
    It says under Sharing and Permissions that I have no access
    and the files will not show up in the folder which has a no entry sign on it.
    These are my own home movies; I just had them copied from video to dvd in the hopes of
    saving them forever.

    Hi,
    Is there a way in Mac OS to see file details (e.g., date, size) when copying a file into a folder already containing a file of the same name?
    That is, instead of the copy dialog box asking "An item named 'file.doc' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you're moving?", is there a way to show the file details of both files so I can determine if they are the same file, or different version of a file that share the same name?
    What I'm really looking for is for Mac OS to ask me if I want to replace file x (##MB, dd/mm/yyyy) with file y (##MB, dd/mm/yyyy) and give me enough information to actually answer that question.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When I get that message I make a small change in the name, usually adding a number and then save. Afterward I look in the folder and see if they are the same, sometimes by Get info on the file, sometimes dates and weight and sometimes by opening both in the application.

  • Folder/Public Folder - What is the maximum file size before the URL created no longer works

    I have received links to files in beehive folder, where the URL will not load as the file name is to long and it's reach some type of maximum display limit for the URL.
    Is there a maximum document file name length before the URL hit some type of cut of point?
    For example if the document is in a folder, within a folder, within a folder and then the file name, how long can the file name be or how many folders can you go down to in the document area before some type of cut of limit is reached.
    I will locate the example as I am seeing this a lot when the URL comes from a specific team and there seem to be a lot of folders within folders.
    There was nothing in the documentation that I could find - Thanks in advance for your help.

    The length of the URL is the critical factor in the access to the sub-folders - we have had issues with users having very long folder names without a great depth of folders. There is no actual limit on the depth of the folder structure - I just created 10 folders nested below the Documents area- admittedly the folder names were Documents>1>2>3>4>5>6>7>8>9>10. In the bug database there have been issues where the depth has been up to 50, though the issue has been mainly due to the time taken to get the details of the deep nesting not the actual number of nested folders. In practice a limit of 30 seems to be the point at which the performance can deteriorate so that is the limit we would advise.
    The client used seems to have an influence as well. IE has a limit on the URL of 2048 but it does not seem to be this limit that is hit so there is probably a cut-off at the lower number in the handler. The other clients webDAV, OBEE, OBEO and the Desktop Integration Server supplied with WebCenter have different reactions to deeply nested folders.
    However there was a proposed fix, for a future version which will not now appear, in OBEO and OBEE to report an error if you wanted more than nested 30 folders , though you could go as deep as 50 if the folder names were limited.
    My advice - keep the folder names as short as you can and try other clients - which all work on BeehiveOnline as well as stbeehive as the depth that can be handled is client dependent.
