Gnome Networkmanager settings screen slow to appear?

Not a problem as such, it works completely; works on boot fine, connects fine, holds connection fine but whenever I click settings it takes 3 to 4 seconds to load up whereas on Linux Mint, for example, it just pretty much appears.
I'm using Cinnamon and everything is completely up to to date as of yesterday.
Anyone else got/noticed/have a fix for this issue?

Maybe I need to play with yakuake's tabs a bit. I never use multiple tabs in yakuake. Can you jump from one tab to another without using the mouse?
If you're using a nVidia card, have you tried using suggested xorg.conf settings?
I do have an nVidia card, and I think I've got it optimized as well as I can. I've been following the discussions about KDE4 and nvidia.
I'm thinking of ditching konsole in favor of urxvt, but since I'm already a frequent yakuake user, I'll definitely experiment with tabs.
Thanks for the good suggestions.

    Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

    Hi from few days onwards i found one abnormality in my iphone4s .That is if i observe my phone settings screen from right side of the device top navigation bar appearing rightside height is more than the left side. In reverse manner from the left side. I dnt know whether it is default feature of iphone or not but i am really disappointed due to this. So please anyone help me in this issue and let me clear my doubt and make me happy. Thanks in advance.

    I believe what you are seeing is an optical illusion when viewing the screen from the side. Try to align one of the one of the options in Settings, like General, with the navigation bar you'll see it does the same thing.
    Hope that helps

  • IPod Nano 5G (16 Gig) has frozen on the Reset Settings Screen

    My iPod Nano 5G (16 Gig) has frozen on the Reset Settings Screen after I tried holding the middle button to re-set. I was doing this as a result of the backlight timer not responding. I'm really worried now, even if I plug into an official Apple external USB outlet or my PC nothing is happening - it's just stuck on that screen. Has been like this for about 4 hours now. And iTunes is saying it doesn't recognise the Nano and its not showing as an external drive on my PC.
    Though this was bought for my from HMV at Xmas would I still be able to take the Nano to the Apple store as a last resort? Any help would be great, thanks.

    Hi I tried this from: Zolved.com +Toggle the Hold switch to on, then back to off (none of the red is showing).+
    +Press and hold down the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until you see the Apple logo) as shown in the picture.+ And it appears to have worked, so am guessing this is the standard way of re-setting the Nano? Thanks

  • My back button does not work because the prior screen does not appear in the history.  I therefore must go back to the blue screen and reload safari.  Apple tech support could not help.  Can anyone else help?

    After I installed mountain lion my back button frequently does not work because the prior screen does not appear iunder History.  Apple tech support was not able to fix the problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
    there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!

  • My Apple tv is stuck on the home sharing and settings screen

    For some reason my apple tv is stuck on the home sharing and settings screen. Ive already unplugged it and let it reset but its not even giving me the option to go to the home scene..HELP!!?

    That is the main menu, however you are not properly connected to the network so that is why the other apps are not appearing.
    Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
    Check that location is set correctly via settings
    If on wifi try ethernet
    Make sure router is up to date and has port 123 open (refer to manual if unsure)

  • Is there a way to mask or hide the plain text Wi-Fi Password on the Personal Hotspot settings screen?

    You will note that even if you change the default password to something more complex, that the password appears in plain text on the settings screen. This is a bad idea so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to hide or mask this. If not, this should be a default option in iOS7 (wink wink, Apple).

    Why? The settings screen is where you set the password. Since you are setting it only you can see it. Once you've set it, there should be no reason for anyone else to be viewing the settings page for it. Masking it for the user setting the password would only make it harder to set it.
    There's really no reason for anyone else to be seeing that password but you.

  • Gnome user settings?

    This must be insanely simple and I am just having horrible luck.
    In other distros when I install gnome, I generally get a user administration panel under System -> Administration. Arch didn't supply one, so I grabbed gnome-system-tools and there it appeared. But I can't access it with my normal user ("You are not allowed to access system configuration"), and can't login to GDM using root. I'm not sure what group I need to add myself to do gain access (which is why I wanted the GUI anyhow...).
    EDIT: Tried to get into gnome as root, still couldn't access the user settings.

    Here is a similar discussion. They haven't found a solution either though...
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=324483
    EDIT
    It's strange though. I remember using these tools every now and then and they worked fine. I removed them at some point because I didn't really need them. In the course of this thread I re-installed them to see what's going on and now I have the same problem .

    I cannot access my settings, each time i try to access my settings, screen goes black.

    You may want to try from A to D.
    (A) Restart iPad
    1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
    3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Reset iPad
    Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    Note: Data will not be affected.
    (C) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
    (D) Restore iPad
    1. Connect your device to your iTune (computer).
    2. Select your iPad when it appears in iTunes.
    3. Select the Summary tab.
    4. Click the Restore button.
    Note: Data will be lost

  • Gnome freezes with screen resolution change

    I have on old Dell computer for learning Arch. I installed gnome
    and my screen looks fuzzy. I checked the screen resolution it
    was set beyond the recomended resolution of the monitor (1024X768).
    I set the resolution to 1024X768 and clicked "apply". The resolution
    changed and indeed looked sharper, but the computer immediatly froze.
    I had to power down and up after which the settings were lost.
    I have no idea if this is a hardware or software problem. It would
    seem that (perhaps) if 1024X768 were put in a configuration file,
    the problem might be averted. But what configuration file?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I believe you can change your default resolution in the file
    /etc/xorg.conf
    Check this section of the wiki :

  • My "settings" screen is frozen ... everything else is working

    All of the apps are working, but the settings screen is frozen and would not allowed me to select any options ...

    Have you tried closing the Settings 'app' completely and seeing if it works when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Settings 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Settings app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Settings screen unavailable after changing home screen

    I've just tried to change my home screen using the settings menu and one of the preloaded images. It didn't change the home screen, and now when i go back to the settings screen all I can see is that image. It won't respond to the select or cancel buttons. Everything else is working fine, but I'm panicking without access to settings. Help!

  • Settings Screen frozen/unresponsive

    Hi, I am having a problem with the settings screen.  Following directions from the website I was on, I brought up the settings menu and changed the location storage to zero so that no information was to be stored on my system.  The instructions did not say to check the box stating not to ask again.
    I closed and reopened the browser, logged back in and got the above window from flash player.  However, none of the buttons work.
    If I right click and select "settings" again, it goes to the local storage window but again won't accept any input.
    Website:  pchgames.com
    Adobe Flash Player:  10.1
    Installed:  6/13/2010
    O/S:  Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavillion a1750y
    The screen appears to have been overridden with something but everything I've tried does not bring the window forward and I cannot
    close the window either.
    Thanks for any help.
    Nancy

    This behaviour can sometimes be fixed by deleting the folders where these settings are kept.  Do the following
    close all browser windows;
    open Windows Explorer;
    in the address bar type %appdata%\Adobe [Enter];
    delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;
    in the address bar type %appdata%\Macromedia [Enter];
    delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;
    now try the Settings again.

  • IPhone 4 is stuck in the settings screen.  Cant even power off

    I was in settings deleting apps to free up space to do iOS 7 update, and now my phone is stuck in the settings screen.  I can maneuver through all the setting options, but can't get ack to my phone.  I can't power the phone off either.  Has anyone else encountered this problem and know how to troubleshoot?

    A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
    No content is affected by this procedure.
