Gnome not properly detecting displays [SOLVED]

I have connected my computer to a projector via a VGA cable. When I go into Gnome settings/Displays to configure the projector, it doesn't acknowledge that there is a projector attached. What am I missing?

VGA? If so it could be (assuming you're on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop) that you are trying to connect it to the GPU on your motherboard (when installing a pci GPU it automatically disables the mentioned GPU. You could if you wished to re-enable it from your BIOS settings, although I don't think it will be powerful enough). To verify try connecting only one screen (no secondary ones) to that port and reboot, if you see nothing, that's probably the reason.
If it's a laptop or you're connecting the projector to the same GPU as your screen - try rebooting with it still connected or restart X to see if something changes. If so it is likely that you'll find help here pretty quickly.

BIOS upgrade: "AC ADAPTOR IS PLUGGED OUT" ...not properly detected in fact

I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 working fine, but it is not detecting battery properly.
For instance, I've just tried to perform a BIOS upgrade and I received a error message "AC ADAPTOR IS PLUGGED OUT" with the BATTERY IN or TAKEN OUT.
I can't start the computer on battery alone, but it does remain ON if I disconnect the AC power. Once disconnected, the front LED goes OFF but battery led DOES NOT and the computer remains ON without AC. Despite the fact there is no indication on the LED or battery monitor, it operates on battery alone for an unknown period (not tested, but exceeding 15 minutes). I don't use battery power alone, just AC.
I worked fine a few days ago. I thought the problem was related to drivers and OS recently reinstalled (Windows XP Pro French, with French drivers) but it is not.
I am now suspecting a defective battery or power board. I just ordered a new battery.
Any clues on other possible explanations and cures?

I can't edit as it is, so I will clarify with another message
BIOS upgrade is telling me my AC is not connected, but it is (brand new adaptor). Even if I remove the battery, it is telling me it is not on AC, but AC led goes ON/OFF as expected.
My laptop no longer detects the presence of batteries, either on front led or by power management console.
Battery is holding the charge just fine, and does maintain the computer ON if disconnected but it can't start the notebook from batteries alone.
This is the mysery, waiting to be resolved.

Can not properly view cover flow in full screen in external display

My mac is the new Mac book pro 15.4 inch screen and I connect my mac pro to external display e.g. Samsung LCD monitor 24 inches.
The bug is that I can not PROPERLY view full screen (in external display) for some application e.g. iTunes, and Front Row.
- When I use iTunes, I can not properly view Cover Flow view in full screen (in the external display screen) except the case of mirror display.
- For Front Row, I can not view full screen in external display but only my mac display.
However, for other DVD or VDO players, I can view movie on external display in full screen and I still be able to do other works on my mac screen.
Please let me know how to solve it.

Suggest you try the following two steps starting with the first one. If it doesn't correct the problem perform the second step.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.

Internal display not detected. "Detect displays" option now gone...

My MacBook Pro will not detect any displays. After going to sleep a couple of nights ago, and bringing the computer out of sleep, the display would not turn on; even though I could hear the computer wake up and the fans turn on.
I hard-reset the computer and the display still would not turn on after the power down. Was able to connect to my computer through my wife's MacBook through "Share Screen", and everything is working except the display. I immediately backed up my data realizing the system was working fine (not a hard drive issue, hooray!) other than the display. I tried connecting my computer to an external display and did a restart with the lid closed and the computer would not detect the external either.
Through share screen, I then went into the Display Properties and to my surprise noticed that the "Detect Displays" button has disappeared! Furthermore, when I go into
"About This Mac > More Info... > Graphics / Displays"
Nothing is listed for the screen! On my wife's MacBook it lists the LCD's resolution and other information, but not on mine. Also, under "Display Connector", hers says "Status: No Display Connected"; where as mine says nothing at all, its blank underneath the words "Display Connector".
I reset the P-RAM and that did not help either. If I could I would do a fresh install of OSX, but I can not see the screen so I can do that either.
Is there any way I can reset the computer by any other means?
I also don't have an issue with taking this computer apart, as apple care is expired, and I've done my fair share of take aparts before.
Once again, the computer is starting up and working, but the screen is not being detected or turning on. Everything else works. I called apple and they wanted me to pay $50 for an over the phone troubleshoot, or to take it in to the apple store (an hour away from here) and possibly pay $300 for it to be fixed. AHHHH!

OK, I am confused...can you see an image on an external display or not?
The torch/flashlight trick will tell you if the backlight is out and you are still getting an image and it is a display problem. Although dead backlights are less of a problem with the LED backlit displays.
In your last post you say "If I could at least detect an external...", this leads me to believe that you are not able to detect an external display. With this assumption, it looks like the video card, which if memory serves me correctly is on the MLB and would require replacing the MLB.
If you are able to get an image on an external display, then we are back to the display as the problem.

Lmstat not properly displaying users (linux)

A linux-based shake license server at our facility is not able to properly display current users. The lmstat command will show the licenses available, but not the current activity. This is for Shake v4.1 and v9.2 of the Globetrotter flexlm tools. Is this a known bug? Thanks in advance.

Detect displays not working on macbook pro

My external monitor no longer works with my MacBookPro. I know the monitor works because I also use it with my old G4. Could it be the miniVGA cable that's defective? Also, the "detect display" command doesn't work

I just purchased a 13" Mid 2012 MB Pro, first time on YouTube, the videos would not play, google "Adobe Flash", download and install the player and you should be good.

BI query not properly displaying in Consumer Portal - Through FPN - RRA

Hi Everyone,
we have implemented FPN between EP 7.0 and BI 7.0 . A role with BI reports (iview created using Bex7.0 template) are working fine in BI Portal.
When its RRA to a users in EP-consumer portal, its not coming properly. I mean it shows some default header/Menu (like New Analysis Open, Save As, Information, Send etc..) in EP but not displaying the details of the report. Other URL iviews are working fine in RRA, just BI query is not coming properly. All pre-requisite for FPN is done properly and SSO configured.

Audigy 2 ZS not being properly detect

After clearing the CMOS battery of my mother board, my Audidy 2 ZS is not being properly reconized in Windows. Right now its showing up as just an "Other PCI Bridge Device" which Im pretty certain is the Audigy card as its the only PCI device that I have installed. I have disabled the onboard sound of my motherboard, an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, and gone through the Creative driver removal process. I have also reseated the card as well as tried it in another PCI slot. When I try and install the latest drivers from Creative I get an error that says that it doesnt detect a supported device. Im not quite sure what else I can try, so any assistance is appreciated.

Are you sure this is the Audigy card? If it says PCI Bridge, then it cannot be the Audigy. It must be the nForce's PCI Controller, under which the Audigy works. The Audigy is not even detected by Windows. I would recommend completely uninstalling all non-Windows drivers and reinstalling them, starting from the chipset.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 02-22-200602:36 AM

VGA display not being detected

My Mac mini often changes the display resolution when it wakes up from sleep, and I have to use the detect display command to get the correct resolution back. I just had to restart it because of a kernel panic event, and now it doesn't detect the display. I use a Gateway LCD with a VGA connection. Any ideas on how to fix this would be most appreciated! Thank you-

Does the Gateway also have a DVI input? If so, have you considered using DVI as an alternative to VGA?

VX2245wm - Fails to detect display properly

I bought a ViewSonic vx2245wm monitor to go with my MacBook.
Problem is, sometimes when I start up with the display connected, the mac forgets the display type and sets it to a low res mode.
I have to press detect display quite a few times before it recognises the vx2245 monitor and it then gets back to normal.
Anyone ever had the issue of a mac forgetting the type of external display?
I connect using VGA.

Have you tried to check ''Mirror Displays'' ? I have Acer 22'' with DVI and I don't have any problems.
