Gnome-screensaver "leave message" button gone?

A recent update seems to have removed the "leave message" feature from the screen lock dialog box of gnome-screensaver. Was this removed on purpose, and if so, whose decision was it? Vengeance shall be mine.

Load earlier messages button gone?

My load earlier messages button for some contacts has dissappeared, but for others its still there. I know the messages havent been deleted because if i type it in to spotlight search they come up, but when clicked on cant be read. Have tried a back up and restore to no avail. Help!! thanks in advance.

GNOME screensaver won't start!@!$%

for some time now I have not been able to launch gnome-screen-saver, either from a gnome-panel or from the command line. from the command line one sees the following error:
** (gnome-screensaver:2468): WARNING **: Failed to get session presence proxy: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SessionManager': no such name
I suspect that whatever is causing the problem (presumably with gnome-session) is also causing loss of update sounds in terminal windows (i.e. pine getting a new message in the inbox used to play a system beep sort of sound, now does nothing.) I don't care so much about the gnome screensaver, but the window sounds are incredibly useful and I'd really like to get them back.

after these updates, the suspend and hibernate buttons are no longer there when I go to shut down in gnome.

Add messages button in Custom transaction

     We have a Messages button in ME21N in order to select the output type (EDI, etc....). How can I add it to my Module Pool Program Transaction.

Paul has identified the problem correctly, to over come this issue you need to create an implicit enhancement and code it to leave to transaction ZCC01(your custom tcode) at ok-code 'BACK'.
Make sure this will also be called at CC01 tcode.(In such case you dont want to disturb the standard behaviour).
So you need to identify the different calls CC01 or ZCC01, but the issue is sy-tcode always have CC01 value in it.
Use the following code to get the transaction variant name which you have created.
DATA: tcode_variant LIKE shdfv-tcvariant,
      tcode_variant_cliidep TYPE char1.
New field: transaction variant
CALL 'DY_GET_TX_VARIANT'
       ID 'VARIANT' FIELD TCODE_VARIANT
       ID 'CLIENT_INDEPENDENT' FIELD TCODE_VARIANT_CLIIDEP.
TCODE_VARIANT will have the transaction variant value.
Now you can differentiate between CC01 and ZCC01 based on TCODE_VARIANT value.

Gnome-screensaver && slim archlinux theme

Hi all,
I'm using SLIM + the archlinux theme as my login manager. I like the very simple but beautifull layout.
As screensaver (read: as window-lock-application) I'm using xscreensaver, but I'm tired of the ugly interface. I mean, we live in 2009, not back in the nineties where those ugly interfaces were a common thing! Gnome-screensaver is a better-looking screensaver/screenlocker, but with the background and the grey login window + buttons it's still not that nice.
As you all can guess; is there a way to get gnome-screensaver having an interface just like the SLIM loginmanager + archlinux theme? The black screen + nice logo + just a simple password-field?

Wonder is likely correct; these are tumultuous times for GNOME fans. If KDE fans thought they had it bad during the transition to version 4, in many ways I think the jump to GNOME 3 and gnome-shell has been even more severe. With KDE, many of missing features were at least expected to be reinstated in subsequent versions; for GNOME 3, many of the features, as we know them, will simply disappear.

Leave messages on server options checked automatically

I have been using Thunderbird with two Godaddy email accounts for few years now. I always had for both accounts the option "Leave messages on server" checked, while "For at most" and "Until I delete them" unchecked. Today I've accessed one of the accounts via the web interface and noticed that only messages from the past 14 days had been left there. I've opened the settings in Thunderbird and noticed to my amazement that only in one of the accounts "For at most" and "Until I delete them" were magically checked. I'm sure I have not changed this myself (or any other setting recently), and I'm the only user of this PC. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is the recent automatic update of Thunderbird.

It is my opinion that settings do mysteriously change when Thunderbird updates. I don't think it's ever happened to me (but there again, I had to re-set some Saved Searches yesterday) but there is/has been much anecdotal evidence where a system that has worked previously suddenly doesn't work and is found to have illogical or inconsistent settings, such as SSL with the usual non-secured ports. Another is HTML vs plain text message composition, where users complain about the HTML formatting tools vanishing, and the message composition Toolbar hiding, leading to users complaining about the non-existent Send button, and so on, hinting at settings which have changed all by themselves.

Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar, tap & hold any icon until they all start to wiggle, tap the red minus sign & close every app listed, tap home button when finished. Then reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

[SOLVED]Gnome-screensaver not kicking in

Hi, since the recent update gnome-screensaver hasn't been kicking in.
I can lock my screen with gnome-screensaver-command -l manually and I see that the gnome-screensaver process is running but it just won't activate itself after 5 minutes. I can leave my computer on for an hour and the screensaver doesn't kick in.
Does anyone else experience this ?

I have ocassional locks when trying to unlock the screensaver. The solution for me is to kill this application.
It seems that the application has problems with libgnomekdbui. Having a look at /var/log/everything.log shows me lines like this:

Gnome-screensaver versus xscreensaver

Some where along the line, I think when Gnome was updated to 2.22, gnome-screensaver was installed in addition to the existing xscreensaver. From what I have read on the internet, it seems that gnome-screensaver is a replacement for xscreensaver and that gnome-screensaver is not dependent upon xscreensaver. Correct?
When I select "System" --> "Preferences" --> "Screensaver", it brings up the preferences dialog for gnome-screensaver. However, when I do a ps -e command, it lists xscreensaver as running and doesn't list gnome-screensaver. So it appears as though only xscreensaver is running.
What is the recommendation on this? Should I be running one or the other and un-install the one not being used?
I have been experiencing random hard lock ups which just started recently. I always notice these lock ups after the screensaver kicks in and I am trying to go back to the active mode. At this point I have a totally black screen and the computer is locked up. Can't ssh into it, can't use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a console screen or anything. The only thing I can do is hit the reset button. Could this be a conflict between gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver? I know other threads have suggested that these lock ups are kernel releated, but could this be part of the problem also?
Any guidance here would be appreciated.

They are separate screensavers now, not related to each other.
I would say that if you are running gnome, go with gnome-screensaver, it is integreated to gnome quite well nowdays.
If running with other DE or window manager, stick with xscreensaver and ditch gnome-screensaver. You can keep both installed, but running both in same time would cause problems. If you have only one running, that should not cause problems.
Try to configure xscreensaver to use only blank screen and see if it still crashes?

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

Unity Issue in leaving message

Hi Guys,
i have a problem with unity connection 8.5
I configured one users with voice mail box.
I performed registration by entering name,pin...etc
When i call and forwarded to voice mail system prompt me to leave a mmessage but when i leave message no MWI on and no message in user mail box.
If i call MWI DN from phone i have light on/off.
Any Idea?

If the issue is with all the users then it could be an issue with the locale also. Make sure the version of the locale matches the version of Unity Connection server installed.

Voicemail not working - Callers can't leave messages

Hi,
I've had my iPhone a couple of weeks but i've only just realised that my voicemail isn't working. I've done the password set-up and can access my voicemail settings by dialling and holding 1 but people calling my phone do not get the opportunity t leave messages. The phone just rings and rings until the line eventually goes dead. Is there a setting in the phone that i've missed?
BTW, i'ma UK O2 iPhone user.

O2 in the UK supports visual voicemail.
I would recommend contacting O2 and seeing if they can reset or reprovision your voicemail.

Group messaging simply puts all replies in one conversation in Messages. It doesn't prevent the behavior you experienced.
My suggestion which would be much easier in my opinion, is rather than do a text, send out an email and use bcc: , which will keep the audience hidden from each recipient.
Otherwise, if you're determinted to do only texts, the only way is to send your message to one person at a time. You can of course copy/paste your msg each time which might be helpful.
