Gnome-Shell 3.8 freezes a few seconds when i start an application.

Hi!
I've been using GnomeShell for abount 1 year now. But there is an pretty anoying thing with it. When i open (for example google-chrome) the clock stops and i cant click on anything for about 3 seconds. But not only when i start an application but also randomly when i busy with developing PHP etc. Is this an known issue? And is there a way to fix it?

I can confirm this issue partially. When I try to search for the application, I type a few letters (depends on the speed of typing) and Gnome freezes for a few seconds.
Probably
extra/tracker
is the cause.
Edit:
I have removed tracker, gnome-photos, gnome-documents, but with no luck - it still lags. I did the trick with:
top > /tmp/top
and proceed everything again. This shown me that the problem was gnome-contacts, which went to the ~70% CPU.
I removed it as well and everything works fine now.

Mountain Lion freezes for few seconds when closing tabs

Hi all,
When closing tabs on Google Chrome, usually after "heavy" navigation (HD flash video or several pdfs opened for examples), Moutain Lion sometimes freezes for less than 10 seconds and then back to normal. The trackpad is still responsive but I can't do anything appart moving the pointer. It appears around two times in one hour. In never appends with other applications like Photoshop or games.
This may be already a known issue on ML, but all the reports I read were pretty old and not exactly similar. Here some details :

Those log messages indicate a fault in the graphics processor. Take the machine in for warranty service. Make sure you can reproduce the problem.

My macbook pro freezes every few seconds

Hi everyone!
About a week ago my MBP started freezing every few seconds showing the well known spinning beach balls every time, even when running no apps, I've sepnt plenty of time looking for a solution, I've read this problem might be due to a physically damaged hard drive, bt I've tested it several times using different apps and it shows no error, I've read from another discussion about Etrecheck as a useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem, so I hope some of you guys can help me checking the log output. Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
3. Do a soft and hard reset.
4. Reset network settings.
5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :)

Video freezes every few seconds

My new iPad video playback freezes every few seconds. I have a decentish Internet speed (2.3MB) and have turned all apps off and even reset. Any ideas?

Does it always take a long time to buffer the video? Can take several minutes for a video of the same length.

I found the solution on Adobe's forums. Thanks to the adobe guys.
I have a program "RightZoom" installed. Needed to upgrade that to the latest "Lion Compatible" version.

Safari always freezes screen for a few seconds when i try to play a video on youtube.

first: im german and i got a normal knowledge of english, so please be fair
the problem is, when i visit youtube and click a video, its loading and freeze a few seconds (sound doesn't freeze).
html5 is off
cookies, history delete
flash player (newest)
didn't work and i don't want to switch the browser (videos on chrome working)
im a new mac-user since 4 days

Flash is required for YouTube content.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video.

Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q8102 freezes every few seconds in games.

Again i have to post in this forums, so im not satisfied and dissapointed..
The laptop is freezing every few seconds in most 3D games, i thought it's the OS problem, so installed a fresh copy of Windows7 (original), downloaded newest drivers from toshiba support site, and installed every one of the without problem. But the problem is still here.. Don't know what to do, gave 1800$ for this pice of junk and ill i got is problems..
I'm not a newbie within computers, working with them for past 15 years (at the moment Network Administrator in Croatian Military).
Tried replacing the memory, hdd, and still nothing, same problem.. The warranty expired and doesn't work in Europe.. Contacted US support and asked for recovery disks because this **bleep** recovery partition is damaged and can't boot from recovery.. tried with Toshiba media builder but same problem, doesn't work -_-... One thing is for sure.. im never gonna buy Toshiba again. Oh yeah, forggot tu mention, I've contacted Toshiba Croatia for recovery disks and support, and they said to me that thy don't give recovery disks and don't sell them (than why can i buy recovery dvd's from toshiba us?, and can't from Croatia)..
Anyway, if no one can tell me any solution it will be crashed with hammer and burn it (because i have no nerves for it any more).. I use the laptop very often and i need it for my job..
Before i buyed this laptop i was in doubt, buy toshiba or alienware? Hmm, made a huge mistake..

Sorry for late reply, i was away and without internet ...
Yeah, i know the procedure with the zerro key, and with toshiba media creator to make backup dvd-s etc, but non of that work because my recovery partition is kinda damaged, don't know why is that so. Didn't mess with the hdd or anything else. But that's not the problem, installed a fresh copy of windows, updated it and installed drivers and everything i need, than made a acronis secure zone on my hdd and made recovery by my self and works great.
But bigger problem is why the hell is he freezing every now and than in games, just stops for half of a second and than continues normaly for few seconds, another thing, while its frozen the sound freezes aswell, tried another sound driver, updated everything and still got same problem..

I believe OS 10.10.2 is causing my mac to freeze every few seconds.

For the last two weeks or so, my MacBook Pro (2011) has been freezing every few seconds. I can barley type this now. When I pull up Activity Monitor, it shows my memory running at 3.0+ out of 4 GB's. I've tried everything I could think of. My Mac is more of a internet surfing comp so I didn't mind reinstalling OS. It worked great for about 30 minutes then everything started to freeze again. Im curious if anyone else is having this issue and if anyone's figured out how to fix it. I ran a diagnostic on my ram and thats not the issue. Im to the point of upgrading my ram but i think it's dumb reverting to that when the 4 GB has been plenty for me in the past.

Firefox hangs for a few seconds when trying to pause videos or skip ads on Youtube.

Hello all!
My problem is that YouTube sort of hangs for a few seconds when I try to pause a video or skip ahead or skip ads. The video freezes while the audio keeps playing until, after say 5 seconds, youtube finally does what I tell it to do.
This doesn't happen if the video is embedded on a different website, nor does it happen on Vimeo, Dailymotion etc. I can play YouTube videos perfectly while using Chrome, IE and a Windows 8 Youtube app I have.
After the initial freeze all commands start working very well, at least until I open a new video.
I noticed that a lot of people are having trouble with youtube while using firefox and I've tried a few things:
- uninstalling and reinstalling flash and java
- starting Firefox in safe mode
- using different antivirus software
- reinstalling Firefox
I read that this might be a problem caused by the whole Google being all buddy-buddy with Adobe thing, but I'm skeptical.
So, is there any way to get YouTube to work properly?

My flash player continues to buffer every few seconds after it starts

My flash player continues to buffer every few seconds after it starts, it plays then buffers, plays then buffers. It worked just fine up until a few months ago. I’m not sure what changed. I am running windows vista. I checked the add-ons and the flash player is enabled. I tried turning off the popup blocker. I just downloaded the latest version and no change.

This is the run without permision list. I wish I knew how to get rid of some of this stuff . Just talked to a friend of mine that has the same problem. I also just ran a speed test on youtube and it shows that streaming HTTP is running at an average of less than 100 kbps.

Hello,
Yesterday my macbook pro was working fine and i left it before sleeping working and it's go into slepping mode after battery discharged.
today morning i turned it on and i got this message after many times of automatic restart :
" Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue starting up "
i have searched for the problem and the way to solve it i found many articles and helpful solutions but never changed !
and that's what's happened exactly:
1. I booted into safe mode for only one time and i can't boot again and i don't know why?
2. After botting in safe mode i deleted all non-app store apps and, then restart
3. Still rebooting and the message appear.
4. reseting PRAM
5. Repairing and verifying permissions and disk. = some errors in itunes/resources/.... serval times of repairing and nothing effect on errors.
6. Hardware test = no troubles found.
7. Reinstall OS X mountain lion = i got a message that my apple id is not purchased mountain lion because i bought my mac earlier 2012 with leopard and i have upgraded may be from another Apple id i can't remember.
No backups to restore, and i have a wealth of my work databases i can't return it back
Please help

My apple mobile device stops a few seconds after i start it up and my ipod touch cant connect becuz of this!!?

I have an Windows 7 desktop computer and when I try to connect my Ipod touch (4th generation ) to itunes it says apple mobile device is not started soo i go to services and start it up but a few seconds after i start it it stops i have tried everything.. reinstalling the new itunes deleting bonjour quick time everything that i found on goggle that might fix it soo and everything it said on the trouble shooting tips but it still wont work! I need help!
Pls help me, My ipod touch is version 4.3.3 and itunes 10.4. I have tried to connect it with another pc or laptop and it works good and sync but I need it work on the main computer where all my files and stuff is at.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
