try to disable record module in xorg settings. I encountered the similar problem sometimes ago, and my gnome desktop stays stable  since the modification mentioned below.
Hope this will help.

  • Where are the files and logs store in Mac while surfing internet?

    Hi everyone,
I just switch over to Mac from windows recently. I was wondering where are all the temp. internet log and files store in Macbook Pro while surfing the internet. In windows its in temporary internet folder but how about Mac.
I do know we can clear the cache when in Safari. However does it really clear all the downloaded contents from internet?
    All advise are welcome!
    Thank you!!

Not sure what you are looking for.  The directory your download files into is specified in the safari preferences.  Safari records some of its stuff (preferences, bookmarks, history, etc.) in ~/Library/Safari.  Finally the caches are in ~/Library/Caches.

  • Spinning wheel of death while surfing internet

I have owned my Macbook Pro for several years and have had no issues.  Recently, however, I get the spinning wheel of death when I'm surfing the internet.  I am able to get to a site fast enough (at least as fast as my "high speed" DSL allows) but once I get there click into an article (on a news site, for example) I get the dreaded spinning wheel of death.  This has become such a problem that I find myself switching to another computer.  Help!

    Hello Tom SWOD,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3230
    Manually uninstall third-party add-ons
To access the Home folder in OS X Lion, OS X Mountain Lion, or OS X Mavericks, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library.
    Best of luck,

  • Sound distorts, pops while surfing internet on dv9730us

I've had my laptop for about a year or so now, and within the past month or so I've noticed the sound in any media player I use will distort, pop, and crackle whenever I'm surfing the internet. This occurs across several different media players (foobar2000, VideoLan, Media Player Classic, and YouTube videos) and three different browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome). I'm still running the copy of Vista Home Basic that came pre-installed, and I've tried updating both my sound card and WLAN drivers like some of the other topics suggested, but this hasn't fixed the problem. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I also thought I had a sound problem but after checking the latency of my PC (brand new s5330la) with "DCP Latency Checker" I realized that the problem is not the sound driver but the wireless driver.
Disabiling the 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card Lan Adapter "corrects" the problem.  This is not a solution given what without that driver you are off-line! However, at least it is more clear what the problem is.
I have the version 3.0.1.0 (19/05/2009) of the driver by Ralink Technology.
HP has no updated driver for that component on their website so I will look for a newer driver on the web and will post if it worked.

  • Can I iTunes to Airport Express while surfing internet from Base Station

I am new to Macs and Networking. I have DSL ethernet plugged into Airport Extreme Base Station and Express into my stero. I have set up a network pointing to each but when I choose the Express network for streaming music, I cannot connect to the internet which is on my Base station. Is there a network configuration that will do both. Working w/a new Powerbook G4. Mac OS 10.4. Thanks for any help.

OW, Welcome to the discussion area!
Follow the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode or KB 107454, AirPort Extreme and Express: Using WDS to create a network from multiple base stations.

  • Got x-fi, now can't play CDs while surfing Internet (modem disconnec

Okay, anyone else experiencing this? I have a Pentium 2.4 and a modem using the Intel 536EP chip. Ever since I installed my x-fi extreme music, I cannot play CDs in iTunes and connect to the Internet at the same time. It keeps disconnecting me. I don't have any problems playing ripped music and connecting to the Internet though.

Does this happen if you play CDs using WMP (or winamp) instead?
    If it does:
Try if stopping 'Creative Service for CD Rom Access' and kill all creative processes on task manager. Also, check if there is IRQ sharing with Modem and CD player (eg. IDE).

  • Iphone crashes while surfing.

Why does my iPhone crash when using safari or maps? I can hardly use either function at all. If I spend more than 30 secs looking at a map or using the web browser the screen unexpectedly crashes and send me back to the home screen. Do I have a defective iPhone, or are these features (safari and maps) merely novelty, and not actually useful? I don't have any programs loaded, my music only comes from cd, and the iPhone is about a month old.

If you've tried all the troubleshooting from the manual - http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf -
then you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar or call 800 my iphone.
The iphone has a one year warranty. If it is defective, the Apple will replace it.

  • Flash player--culprit for desktop crash while surfing the web?

I can confirm what someone else posted on this forum.Flash player causes random crashes on osx.Upgrading to 9.0.20 fixes that problem.

I am having the same problem.  I get the same message whenever I try to download something from certain game websites .  I've never had this problem before Flash 10 was installed.
My harddrive got a virus , I wrote zeros to the harddrive and reloaded my Windows Vista (Home Prem) and reloaded all my software.  Many of my software stated I needed a Flash Player and my mistake was when I came on Adobe's website and downloaded the Flash 10.  I wish I could remember which Adobe Flash player allowed me to enjoy the game websites I enjoyed.  Flash 10 have the Global Security Setting Panel which I wish Adobe would allow me to disable because it is my belief that this is what's stopping me from being able to use the websites I once visited.

  • While surfing the internet I get frequent stopages with the notation "Shockwave Flash may be busy - - - - -" Why doesn't it say Adobe Flash and how do I get it fixed?

While surfing the internet I get frequent stopages with the notation "Shockwave Flash may be busy - - - - -" Why doesn't it say Adobe Flash and how do I get it fixed?

The  site will NOT let me post in the  "flash player" forum. When I open the  list of forums to post in, I see  flash player listed, but it is grey  in color and you can not click on  it. Under the scroll box that gives  you the choices of forums to post  your question in you see this:
"Why are some locations grayed out?                                                This means that you can view content in these locations, but may not   have access to post to them. Or, the content type you've chosen is not   available there (i.e. trying to put a blog post in a project where  blogs  are turned off). Also to move content to "Your documents",  "Private  discussions" or "Your Videos" you have to be the author."
So   tell me HOW the hell am I supposed to post in that forum, when it is   not letting me?  I have had   this problem since back in April, I have tried posting to get help and   all I get is complaints I posted in the wrong place, and it is the SITE   that is not letting me post in the right place.

  • Crash while online

I recently moved and added a wireless keyboard, mouse and printer to my computer. Since then, my iMac is crashing while on surfing the internet. I took it to my local apple store and the diagnosis did not reveal anything that would cause crashing, such as  applications running in the background. The tech said my computer is running fine, however, upon running the system at home, I experience another online crash. The computer is plugged directly into the wall and wondering if this might anything to do with the crashing? Looking for possible causes and solution. Thanks!

The rep reviewed the report but wasn't alarmed by anything. I'm now experiencing freezing and crash symptoms regardless of Internet activity. Feeling the bug. Is there anyway to back up folders without OS?

  • BSOD: bad_pool_caller, while accessing Internet (youtube video, bgm, online games)

Dear all readers of this writing,
I truly want to get help or advice of solving my blue screen problem called "bad_pool_caller".
Even, I nicknamed myself as "bad_pool_caller of death" because this caused several painful experiences while playing online games. Furthermore I am just a beginner about computers, so even this small problem makes me crazy.
Let me introduce my problem and what I have done to solve this problem.
    -Symptoms
this bad_pool_caller problem does not occur in offline. I found that none of problem occurs even while playing single player games over 7 hours like Far cry3 or bioshock infinite.
Only while accessing Internet, this problem occurs.
Especially, while playing any youtube videos
even also other sort of video players, almost within 20 seconds, my computer shut down by bad_pool_caller error.
and video's buffering is extremely slow.
This is not just a Internet access problem I think, because I have another my own laptop and when I play youtube video of my laptop, it plays well.
Also, when I enter a posting linked with bgm files, and try to install and play online games like starcraft 2, same things happens.
(Although the frequency is lower than that of bad poor caller, Driver IRQL Less or equal error
pops up while playing online games.
During surfing Internet without these, bad pool caller error does not happen, so I think these three things(youtube video, listening bgm, online games) have much to do with my error.
    -What I have done
I tried to solve by myself after I found this link.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/e5e06b4e-6ed0-4eab-80ab-56c334f924be/windows-8-blue-screen-of-death-bsod-badpoolcaller?forum=w8itproperf
I was very happy when I found this because the situation of the writer in upper link is almost same with that of mine.
As the answer written, I format my C drive(Toshiba) and install windows 8.1 full version completely and upgraded graphic drive(GTX 760) and upgraded latetest windows 8.1 beta version upgrade of Wireless lan card drive(Netgear N900).
However, you know, still this error occurs...
    -Guess the cause
I know that most bad pool caller problem arise from Hard drive and memory corruption.
But, my desktop PC is bought only a month ago and I bought quite a good SSD and HDD and Ram for playing high quality games.
So I don't think the main cause is my SSD or HDD. My graphic card is also a new one.
I suspect the cause is my network adapter, wireless lan card (USB) because this connects Internet access between my desktop PC and Louter.
I am living in University dorm and using louter using with other students together.
For getting Internet access of my desktop PC, I've bought wireless lan card (Netgear N 900) and I think this lan card causes problem such as windows 8.1 compatible
But I fully upgraded and updated lan card driver and reinstalled several times and this N900 is not bad lan card so I don't determine this is the real cause.
Here is link of my minidump record files.
    https://onedrive.live.com/#cid=CF99CE81DCA9027A&id=CF99CE81DCA9027A%21943
(most error is about bad_pool_caller, but one is about Driver_IRQL_Less or Equal)
and sorry for my poor English writing skills because I am international student arrived US only 3 months. If you have some things that cannot understand of my writing, just ask me again.
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi,
As you said, you have updated your NIC driver.
Did this issue happend when you used the wired LAN?
I think this is related to wireless driver.
I suggest that you try other wirless card to test this issue.

  • Safari 4.0.3 crashes while opening website

Safari 4.0.3 update on OSX 10.4.11 PPC G5 dual 2.3 6GB RAM 169GB of free HD space. Safari crashes down when opening certain sites. It also downloads the files called b.ashx at time. I tried everything what I know and have read in this forum: re-installed completely Safari and flash plugin after thorough cleanup, tried to disable Java script and plugins in Safari Security, checked Input Manager, tried to open another account did not help so far. Have feeling it has a connection to Flash because when I take Flesh out of the Library>Internet Plugins folder it doesn't crash while accessing the site but does not display parts of the site either. Thanks for having OPERA browser. Bellow is the link to one of the crash sites
    http://www.snocap.com/

..... Menucracker or whatever it was is gone didn't change anything here is the report after restart and attempt to access the snocap site. I noticed that after Safari crash it takes very long time to open whatever. I don't know how to get full report when I click on Crash Reporter it's empty this is a console.log and bellow is system.log report...... Last two lines in console.log is what appears there after Safari crash.

  • 10.5.1 crashing while connecting to network

Three day old MacBook 2.2. Original 10.5 updated to 10.5.1. Used migration assistance to transfer data and settings from PowerBook. Have now crashed five times while initiating sign on to a network. These are hard freezes with not so much as a keyboard shortcut or point movement possible.
While I am connecting via Bluetooth to a cell phone for internet access, my neighbor running an early 2007 MacBook Pro had a similar crash while connecting to a wired network. This leads me to believe that it is an OS 10.5 issue.
As another issue, three hours after I bought the MacBook and after updating and migrating, it went to sleep and could not be woken. Lost data on that one.
Please help! After 10 years of owning a 3400, TiBook, AlBook, and a couple of even older desktops, I have never had anything like this level of instability.
    Any suggestions?

OK, number 7! Typing a post in a non computer forum and my cell phone logged the connection off as it often does when inactive. Froze when I attempted a reconnect. Airport was off for sure this time. As in the other times, some activity is possible before everything freezes. Nothing functional until this time, I was able to select what I had just written and put a clipping on the desktop. Wasn't sure that had worked or been saved until I rebooted, but there it was.
I waited for a while in the frozen state just in case it would fix itself but the temperature and fan started ramping up quickly. Still no crash report!
On a hunch, I looked in my user library. There were a number of application crash reports from my old Powerbook that I migrated from.
Any other thoughts? I should just call AppleCare, but have no access to a landline and am running out of minutes fast so any hold time will be costly.

  • Plug iPhone into TV and use TV as screen to surf internet/ck email?

My father is considering purchasing an iPhone. He wants to know if he can plug it into a TV and use the TV as a monitor while surfing the internet/checking his email via the iPhone. That way he would not have to travel with his laptop, and still get the benefit of the larger screen. He has received conflicting answers at retail outlets, and based on the User Guide, it appears that you can connect an iPhone to a TV, but only for viewing downloaded videos. Is this correct? Or is there someway he can use the TV as a monitor for suring the internet and checking his email?
Thanks so much for any advice.

With the correct cable, you can view videos from the iPhone on an external monitor but you cannot do anything else, i.e. surf, use apps, etc.
Windows Mobile devices can do this, i.e. they can display the mobile device's screen directly to a monitor. You can then use your mouse to control the mobile device. It's pretty slick - I often did it with my Dell PDA.

lost all files in crash while install of at&t internet gateway

Thanks. I will try this. My previous machine was running Vista and I
rarely compacted folders. NEVER had a problem. Apparently
Win 8.1 is more sensitive to this.
