[GNOME3] Keyring password requested after setup Empathy account

The situation is like this:
When I set up an account in system settings for Empathy
It asked me (twice) for the password of keyring access
Then whenever I restart my computer
the password is asked during login
(note:I make my system account automatically login)
I am not sure if this is a bug or setting problem
as it seems that there is no similar bug report and I am quite a newbie to Arch Linux (or just Linux)
But I notice that there have been some problem with Empathy
at the time i start to use GNOME3
Empathy seemed cannot remember the account info I entered once the computer is restarted
then after some updates it became the keyring problem
yet the situation is a bit different before
when setting up the account it asked for the password many times (4-5 as I remember)
(i don't exactly remember what it asked, but at least one of those 4-5 times includes asking for a new password for the keying created)
And the message is strange that it said the the keyring accessing/creating is "xxx"
P.S. I've only installed telepathy-butterfly as I only use Empathy for MSN

    Nokia 6700 Requesting Memory card password?
    I have a Nokia 6700 Classic, the bluetooth stopped working so I called Orange who checked I was following the instructions clearly and then suggested I download the latest software version 13.20  via the computer. I did this with no problem only to find that the bluetooth still did not work and now | was being asked for a password to access my memory card.  I have NEVER entered a password on my memory card.  Having taken advice from the website I had removed all my precious photos etc to the memory card so they would be safe - now I am asked for a password that I have never set. The software is obviously corrupt in my opinion and no one can help me with a password. Have tried all possible 4 number combinations 12345 and the guy at carphone warehouse thought it was an 8 digit/character passsword. I know I could format the card but the data would be lost. Can not make it work in the computer or in other phones. Can not remove the password as you have to enter it to remove it! Orange can not help although they have been super and likewise the Carphone Warehouse and Nokia seem to just send out standard responses that prove they do not read the correspondence, although Nokia are responsible for the faulty software that has done this. The photos include some of a friend I recently lost and of someone who has little time left, I can not replace those photos. Any help would be appreciated. Surely someone at Nokia - ie the software programmers should be able to say what they have done and get me the info. This fault has been evident on lots of forums for the last 4 years - it is about time it was taken seriously - both the problems with the bletooth and the memory password.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you

    My wife has forgotten the password for the microsd 2gb memory card which she had in her Nokia 6700 phone. she did a factory reset of her phone and now cannot acces her memory card. I've tried it in other devices and it is not recognised.. even in a PC. how can we access the card again. not bothered about data that was on it just wanna wipe it and reuse it. Try formatting or anything with her phone and it just keeps asking for the correct password which we don't know..
    It will only allow me to format it. If I give the right password 1st.
    WHICH WE DON'T KNOW!!!!
    HELP PLS!!!!!

  • Username or password incorrect after creating new account, tried everything

    I deleted the old email account and started again. Thunderbird created the email address account, but when I try to use it, I get the message "Username or password incorrect" I can access the email account from the ISP website ok, so the login and password are correct.
    I switched the pc off and restarted, same problem.
    Help really appreciated.

    This company seems to have a different password for accessing mail in the email center (I assume this is the webmail account) and another email password for using with Pop mail forwarding with email clients like Thunderbird. So you should have one password for log to email centre and another set up specifically for pop mail accounts using email clients. As account server settings are correct and you have checked that the username is the full email address and you have Pop forwarding enabled on the webmail account. This issue really sounds like the password is not correct. It sounds like you are trying to use the email center password which will not work.

  • Sending email in one account, triggers a password request from another

    I have several email accounts operating in MAIL. I have recently noticed that when I send an email in one account, a second account pops up and requests a password. I used to type in the password, but then I thought: has a nasty virus infected my system and somehow, whenever I send emails, they are also secretly being sent somewhere else via this second password-seeking account.
    There is nothing in the Outbox for the second account, so I'd like to find out what is going on. Is this an indication of a virus, or has MAIL gone haywire?
    I can get around the problem by clicking OK to the password request from the second account (but not having typed anything in), which sends me to a window asking me if I want to use another account to send the email. I select the first account (the one I actually want to use), it asks me for the password, and away it goes.
    Thanks in advance for any comments.

    Guy,
    You need to provide us with some additional info about the SMTP you are using as the Outgoing Server for each account, and what, if any, relationship that SMTP has to both accounts. The use of the SMTP provided by your ISP, for example, if Authenticated either by Password or by SMTP after POP3 methods, can trigger a password prompt that looks the same as that for the Incoming server of an account provided by that ISP.
    More info, please.

    After changing my e-mail address, two iCloud accounts were created, my iphone is unusable due to password requests every few seconds and my iCloud account has been blocked. What can I do?

    So, you are saying that you set up a brand new Apple ID and then signed into iCloud with it, correct?
    Are you also saying both accounts are disabled for Security reasons? If not, why can't you sign on with the one that is not disabled?

    Hi Roger,
    Does gMail's WebMail work with the same login & password?
    Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
    1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
    2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    To clarify please...you received an email from your email service provider to update your email password, stored at the email service provider? Or, you received an email from BIS to validate the credentials you have stored into BIS for one of your email accounts? The remedy steps for each are very different, and from your post, I sense it could be either, so clarity is needed.

  • Disable prompt to change password for local non-admin account

    Hi there, I have a special-case laptop image running Windows 7 Enterprise. This one will not be on the domain--configured as a standalone workgroup only. I have three local accounts on it:
    1) Tech account with admin privs and password protected
    2) Teacher account with admin privs and password protected
    3) Kindergarten student account with regular user privs and no password at all
    For some reason, after Sysprep, when the student and teacher clicks their icon to logon, Windows always prompts them to change the password. I want to disable that. I have the following in my unattend.xml file which should take care of this, based on what
    I've read here. Still getting prompted to change password though. Any ideas what's missing?
    Thanks,
    Sir_Timbit
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" .....

                        <Order>1</Order>
                    </SynchronousCommand>
                </FirstLogonCommands>

    For some reason my paste garbled up the unattend.xml file. It should read:
                <FirstLogonCommands>
                    <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
                        <CommandLine>wmic path Win32_UserAccount WHERE name="Student" set PasswordExpires=FALSE</CommandLine>
                        <Description>Student password never expires...</Description>
                        <Order>2</Order>
                    </SynchronousCommand>
                    <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
                        <CommandLine>net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited</CommandLine>
                        <Description>Disable expired local user account passwords</Description>
                        <Order>3</Order>
                        <RequiresUserInput>true</RequiresUserInput>
                    </SynchronousCommand>
                    <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
                        <CommandLine>wmic path Win32_UserAccount WHERE name="Staff" set PasswordExpires=FALSE</CommandLine>
                        <Description>Staff password never expires</Description>
                        <Order>1</Order>
                    </SynchronousCommand>
                </FirstLogonCommands>
    Now, I let Sysprep complete and logged on as Staff. I went to the command prompt and ran the wmic command above to configure the student account to never expire. It failed when I ran it from a regular command prompt, but worked (and prevents the student
    password from expiring--what I want!) when I ran the command prompt as administrator, and paste the above. I was under the impression sysprep would be processing the unattend file with administrative privs. So I'm a bit closer here, but still unsure how to
    get it to run the above wmic command as administrator.

  • How to enable password request for restart and shutdown?

    Hi,
    I'm neither a Linux nor an Arch Linux newbie, but inexperienced regarding this particular issue.
    I want to enable password request for restart and shutdown and want to know if I'm mistaken, because trial and error might become to time-consuming while working on a project.
    I read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Al … o_shutdown.
    $ ls -hAl /usr/bin/shutdown
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Apr 22 03:02 /usr/bin/shutdown -> systemctl
    If I try to run $ shutdown -hP 28 or $ shutdown -c nothings happens, I need to run $ sudo shutdown -hP 28 and $ sudo shutdown -c and type a password. That's the way I want it.
    If I e.g. run $ shutdown -r now no password is needed. I want to disable this. It should behave the same way as shutdown -hP/-c behave. I want to type
    $ sudo shutdown -r now or $ sudo systemctl reboot etc. and then the password should be required.
    $ sudo grep -vn "#" /etc/sudoers | grep [[:blank:]]
    72:root ALL=(ALL) ALL
    73:rocketmouse ALL=(ALL) ALL
    The user "rocketmouse" should have all permissions after typing a password, but not without typing the password.
    IIUC what's written at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Polkit, I need to edit

    You'll need to create a rules file which uses javascript.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … tion_rules
    // /etc/polkit-1/rules.d/10-admin-shutdown-reboot.rules
    polkit.addRule(function(action, subject) {

  • Constant password request pop-up!

    How can I get an old user ID password request to stop popping up on my iphone? My Apple ID has been successfully changed, but this request, related to an earlier email address, keeps popping up. Any password I try to enter fails, but if I cancel the request the pop-up goes away. This began happening after the latest IOS 6 update. Going into my account with the old user ID in question and requesting the lost password be sent to me produces nothing.

    I have found that frequent user ID - password requests are directly related to Game Center.  My recommendation is to go to Game Center, and sign out of it (except when you're using it).  That should help a lot.
