GnomeUI-WARNING : - Authentication Rejected

Hi:
While I am running Enterprise Linux 5.3 I got error
(Gecko:6415): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
when I try to run Fire Fox on OC4J server
Does any know how to reslove the problem?
Please help
Ali

Logging in? Starting GNOME? Connecting to some application? What has OC4J got to do with anything? Why should you authenticate? Did you ever authenticate? How did you think you could authenticate? Do you even want to authenticate?
Please provide more details about what you are doing. We (well, me really) have no idea.

  • I can not send e-mail as i get an authentication rejected message

I just purchased a new IMac and had no problem sending e-mails for a few days until after I had been asked for my server password and entered the wrong one by mistake. Shortly after that when Itry to send an e-mail I get a message "Authentication rejected, Try Later." Trying later has the same result. I checked with my server and there is no problem there. In fact I am able to send e-mails using my I-Pad so something needs to be corrected on my I-Mac. What should I do?

    Hello miltonfrombellevue,
To troubleshoot the issue of not being able to send email from Mail on your iMac, please follow the directions in the article below.

  • Authentication Rejected after password change.

I'm seeing this quite a bit
Users change their password in AD and then are being rejected trying to log in to both a 3005 concentrator and ASA 5500 using AD/Kerberos authentication.  Wait a couple of days and it works just fine after that.  I even do the test on the VPN device and it still comes back "authentication rejected".    Users can use this same new password to log on to mail, VM, anything else but the VPN devices.

    This is expected behavior.
Outlook will not prompt immediately because it is not required to do so for Exchange resource access. The cached creds are valid for as long as the existing token in ADFS (and also within orgID
in our cloud) matched to the old password in credman is valid. The default token life is 10 hours, but that value can be modified. Once that token expires, when Outlook tries to pass the old creds (that are no longer valid), Exchange will refuse them, and
only then Outlook should prompt. You can use both Outlook ETL data and NETSH data to see when Outlook is prompted and what is passed.
If you expects an immediate prompt ‘out of box’ when a password is changed, that is simply not correct . If there is a business requirement for an immediate prompt, you could implement a policy
to never cache creds into cred man (This is windows and not within our Outlook expertise). The downside here is obvious – users would be prompted every time they restart Outlook.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, I checked the logs and it shows the correct username who has attempted to login and then for the same user it shows the machine name trying to login. Could it be something to do with the client's configuration?
Are there any specific config that needs to be made on the clients who are mostly windows based devices, the user doesn't get prompted to enter a username or password even when 802.1X is selected for the Authentication.

  • WebVPN using External Authentication

I have a VPN concentrator 3005 that is configured for WebVPN which works great if I login with a local user.
I would like to authenticate my users through our LDAP. I created a SSLusers group that is setup for external authentication. The SSLusers group works fine when I use the Cisco VPN client to connect (I enter the group name/password in the text boxes, when it connects it asks for the username/password).
In the logs it shows that it is checking for the user in the Internal server, I want to point it to my ACS box. I feel like there is a check box somewhere that I am missing that tells the concentrator 'if I can't find the user in my local database, check the external authentication server'.
Any advice on how to get the external authentication working with the WebVPN would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Daniel for the suggestion. I tried to add the above, but still received the same error. Is there an additional checkbox that needs to be marked for the base group to search the radius server?
Authentication rejected: Reason = User was not found
    handle = 686, server = Internal, user = bobeldde, domain =
It appears to work ok if I login with 'bobeldde#ssl';where the ssl group is configured for Radius Authentication.

  • Gmail authentication required. Won't send emails on Mac

Gmail suddenly stopped sending emails from my mac mini. Authentication required pops up. Did an apple update fairly recently. I have checked the outgoing server and it is was set to gmail offline, however no other choices were given. I have tried everything. I am receiving emails without issue. Please help!

    Is it POP or IMAP?
The Password/Authentication rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server.
If WebMail works in a browser, it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
Or Keychain has more than 2 entries for that account one incoming, one outgoing.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

I've tried adding me to stb-admin group and using the script posted in another post, but I can't solve this.
    Thanks in advance.

You've probably already done this, but you need to start the stbd daemon.  You can start it manually as root by:
    # /etc/rc.d/stbd start
You can start stbd automatically at boot up by putting stbd in the daemons line of the /etc/rc.conf file.

The import error indicates to me that you do not have gnome-python installed. But meld depends on gnome-python-desktop which needs gnome-python so I do not understand that.

Yes, my system is totally up to date.... I just updated five minutes ago. I update basically every day or other day.

  • Is Tracker included with Arch?

Hi all, just been playing with the beta version of Ubuntu 8 and I was wondering if tracker is included with Arch? I have tried to install it via pacman and it says it is installed, but I cannot see it under System > Preferences and none of the commands work as posted on their website. I believe this is a part of Gnome, I am using Gnome 2.22.

  • Brasero doesn't detect CD burner

I had this problem in my other Arch installation and haven't solved it yet.
I installed brasero, followed the post-install instructions but when I hit the Burn button, it seems that it doesn't detect the CD burner drive and lets me write only to a file image. Same problem while running it under root (so no permission problem probably)
This is the only error I get when running it under my regular user:
** (brasero:17100): WARNING **: hal_initialize failed: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
    and while running under root:
(brasero:17114): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
libnotify-Message: Unable to get session bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
** (brasero:17114): WARNING **: hal_initialize failed: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
    How can this be solved?

    Great, it works.
I never really knew what this HAL was, but I remembered it had something to do with issues like this, so I added my user to the hal group. too bad I didn't start it
    Thanks.

    # If you have a machine with multiple IP addresses, this address

    # will be resolved to the IP address configured for the locahost
    # on your system (generally this is 127.0.0.1). This feature is
    so
    # that one can have multiple instances of Apache JServ listening
