  • K9N2G Neo CPU Stepping question.

Hello, I have a K9N2G Neo and I am looking to upgrade to a AMD Phenom II X4 925 but I have a couple questions. Will stepping/revision of a CPU effect compatibility?
I see in the CPU Support that Phenom II X4 925 C2 is supported but would the same CPU but C3 stepping effect weather or not it worked with my motherboard?
    K9N2G Neo CPU Support list - http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1493&maincat_no=1 (HDX925WFK4DGI) Stepping - C2)
    AMD Phenom II X4 925 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103656  (HDX925WFK4DGM) Stepping - C3)
Sorry if this is common knowledge I haven't been able to find information on it anywhere.
    Thanks for your time.

     Best to ask MSI. http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=html&name=aboutus
The latest in support list is C2 CPU supported by BIOS 1.2 and that dates back to Jan. 2009.
Even the list from this website which are usually fairly up to date doesn't show any C3's.

It probably is supported with latest BIOS but don't take my word for it.

  • Step by step question

I was wondering if there are any kind souls out there that have put together any step by step lessons thst DO NOT involve a pre made template?
I would like to learn to build a web site COMPLETELY from scratch. Every lesson I so far have come across starts with some template, where everything is already done ahead of time. I want to learn all that stuff they skip in the lessons.

Kudos, to you, on wanting to do things at the base level, instead of taking the shortcut.
I don't know of any such lessons, myself.  I'm self-taught: I learned basic HTML4.0 by a book (always remember to properly nest and format your tags); I learned ColdFusion basics from a co-worker, the rest I did by asking a lot of questions in forums, like this one; I learned JavaScript, AJaX, and jQuery the same way.  Now that I think of it, that's also how I learned Classic ASP.  I did use a tutorial book for learning PHP, and that's all the PHP knowledge that I have.
    V/r,

  • BPM "Fork" step question

Concerning  fork step : Here is the documentation :
You use a fork () when you want to continue a process in branches that are independent of each other, for example, to communicate with two systems that are independent of each other. The branches of the fork join in a union operator.
You can specify the required number of branches and then define whether the process must run through all branches, or just a particular number of branches. Furthermore, you can define an end condition for the fork (see also: Condition Editor).
As soon as a branch reaches the union operator at runtime, the system checks the following conditions in the specified order:
    ·        The process has run through the required number of branches
    ·        The specified end condition has returned true
The step is complete as soon as one of the conditions returns true.
I want to use it to do 3 different send process in parrallele with 3 different receivers.
Before Fork step I use a container to initialize varaiable count = 0
In each branch I do my send step and then a container that does count = count + 1
And finally I have defined my fork with following end conditions :
    End condition : count = 3
    Necessary branch : 3
But my BPM allways executes only one branch !!!
(Only one is in green in the graphical editor of monitoring for BPM)
    Any idea ?
Do I use the right solution to do the following :
"You can specify the required number of branches and then define whether the process must run through all branches, or just a particular number of branches"

    Hi Jean-Charles,
I agree with Michal. Is it really necessary to use a fork for different send steps.
The reason for your unexpected termination could be the condition. Each fork branch reaching the union operator checks here in this sequence:
Process has run through required branches (here: 3)
End condition is true (container = 3, you have the same container element for ALL branches? This should not work. You need one for each, I think.)
Step is complete as soon as ONE of the conditions return true.
So use three different container elements as counter and connect them in the end condition with AND.

    Dirk

  • MSI Pro266TD Master-L Stepping question

    Hello guys..
This is my first post here..
I have plans for to buy a Dual board for 2 pentium 3 that i got.
Are two (2) Pentiums 3 Coppermine 933mhz processors.
I'm interesting in this board :
    http://www.knowledgemicro.com/detail.php?p=MB-9105-02&c=pw
so do i need to know is if it true that i need that the 2 processor must be The SAME stepping???
    is this true????
    Thanx

Intel suggest no more than one stepping apart and have the lower stepping CPU in socket#1.
Still, it's best if they are prefectly matched.

  • Question about adding Windows 2012 R2 Domain Controller, into a native Windows 2008 R2 single forest domain

I current have a two server domain, both Windows 2008 R2 and fully updated.   The two servers are on subnet 10.0.1.0 /24
    - Windows 2008 R2 Server A: 10.0.1.1 (DC, GC, FSMO, DNS)
    - Windows 2008 R2 Server B: 10.0.1.2 (DC, GC)
    AD Domain: COMPANY.LOCAL
I have a second connected subnet, 192.168.1.0 /24) which is routed to the 10.0.1.0/24 subnet and I would like to install a Windows 2012 R2 server onto a server on that subnet and make it a domain controller with AD-Integrated DNS and DHCP for the 192.168.1.0
    /24 subnet.
    - Windows 2012 R2 Server C: 192.168.1.1
What are the proper progression steps, in order to bring up the Windows 2012 R2 server and then add it to my COMPANY.LOCAL domain and then promote it do a DC/GC/AD-Integrated DNS server?   Are they anything like the following:
    1. Install Windows 2012 R2 server (Server C)
    2. Point Windows 2012 R2 server DNS servers at Server's A and B
    3. Perform AD prep to extend AD schema to support Windows 2012 R2 domain controllers
    4. Promote Windows 2012 R2 server to domain controller (install local DNS service on Server C, during this step)
    * Question:  Will Windows automatically create a DNS zone for the Windows 2012 R2 subnet (192.168.1.0/24) AND also include the DNS zone from the previous Windows 2008 R2 domain (10.0.1.0 /24)?  Or will I need to add the 10.0.1.0 /24 zone to the DNS
server on Server C, even though the DNS from the Windows 2008 R2 domain is AD integrated?

    Hi,
Regarding the issue here, please take a look into below articles:

Install a Replica Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller in an Existing Domain (Level 200)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj574134.aspx
Here is an example for promoting Windows Server 2012 to a DC, see:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12370.step-by-step-guide-for-setting-up-a-windows-server-2012-domain-controller.aspx
As the server is promoted to a DC, DNS Zones will be replicated and synchronized to it automatically whenever the new one is added to an AD DS domain,  bascially there is no special need to add zones,  for more information, please see:

    Oracle Version: 11G
    Operating System: Centos 5 (RHEL 5) : Linux centos51-rac-1 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 09:19:18 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Question (including full error messages and setup scripts where applicable):
I am attempting to install oracle 11g in a RAC configuration with Centos 5 (redhat 5) as the operating system. I get the following error
ERROR : Cannot Identify the operating system. Ensure that the correct software is being executed for this operating system
    Verification cannot complete
I get this error message when I run runcluvfy.sh, to verify the my configuration is clusterable. I don't know why.
I edited the /etc/redhat-release and entered echo "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7)" to attempt to fool the installer into thinking its red hat 4.
But still shows the same message.
Anyone knows how to fix this ?
    Please help me.

    http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/Linux/LINUX_20.shtml
runcluvfy.sh will not work on centos because the cluster verification utility checks the operating system version using the redhat-release packag and centos do this with his packages, so you must install and use redhat-release package
Get rpm-build to be able to build rpm’s:
    [root@centos5 ~]# yum install rpm-build
    Get source rpm of redhat-release
    [root@centos5 ~]# wget ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.src.rpm
    Build package:
    [root@centos5 ~]# rpmbuild –rebuild redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.src.rpm
    Install newly generated rpm:
    [root@centos5 ~]# rpm -Uvh –force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.i386.rpm

  • How does recovery work after an online backup

    Hello,
While trying to conceptually understand how backup and recovery works, I came accross a question concerning hot (online) backup.
This is a conceptual question (I am trying to understand how things work), it is not a "how should I proceed/ what should I do step by step" question.
As far as I understand, an online backup of a tablespace can be performed by copying the OS files making up a tablespace while the database is up and being used (i.e. transactions are modifying data in the database). Before the copying of the OS files starts, the Oracle RDMS must be notified that an online backup is being taken via "ALTER...BEGIN BACKUP" (such that some additional information is written to the Redo Log, which may be required for subsequent recovery using the online backup). During recovery the Oracle RDBMS uses the copies of the OS files together with the online and archived redo logs in order to reconstruct all committed transactions and it further uses the UNDO tablespace to rollback open (uncommitted) transactions.
Thinking about this, it seems to me, that in order for this to work in all possible scenarios the undo information from the time the backup was taken may be required. Therefore backup of the UNDO tablespace should be taken as well (see the explanation for this assumption below). However browsing the internet (including the Oracle online documentation) I did not find any statements concerning the backup of the UNDO tablespace when an online backup is taken. Moreover I couldn't figure out when exactly such a backup of the UNDO tablespace must be done, to ensure that the database can be recovered in all scenarios.
I believe that undo information from the time the hot backup was taken may be required e.g. in the following scenario:
Assume we are taking a hot backup of a given tablespace, i.e. we are copying all OS files that make up this tablespace, while the database is potentially being used. Let D1 be one of the datafiles in our tablespace and let transaction T1 modify datafile D1. Let transaction T1 further be uncommitted while the copy of datafile D1 is being made and let (at least some of) the changes from T1 be included in the backup copy D1' of D1 (because DBWR has already written the modified blocks at the time they were being copied to the backup). Let transaction T1 be rolled back after the copy is completed. D1' will thus contain modifications from T1, while D1 will not.
Now some time later the datafile D1 is lost. When recovering D1 from the copy D1', the (archived) redo logs will be applied to D1'. Before that, transaction T1 should be rolled back in the copy D1', because modifications from T1 must not appear in the recovered version of the database.
I do however not understand, where the information to rollback transaction T1 exactly comes from. It may still be in the current UNDO tablespace. I do however assume that rollback information is not kept in the UNDO tablespace forever. I see three possible answers to this
    (a) There are some requirements which I missed so far to backup the UNDO tablespace whenever a hot backup is made.
    (b) Since the Oracle "RDBMS" has to be notified that an online backup is being done, it might store all relevant undo information (e.g. write it to the redo log) when the tablespace is put in backup mode.
    (c) There are situations when recovery is not possible due to "missing old UNDO information".
Answer (b) seems the most plausible to me. I did however not find any confirmation of this and if (b) really is the answer, I would be interested to understand what information is stored where by the Oracle RDMBS and how it is used for recovery.
To summarize I have the following questions:
    (I) Is there any requirement to backup the UNDO tablespace together with an online backup of a tablespace, and if so, where is this stated in the Oracle documentation?
(II) What mechanisms ensure that uncommitted transactions can be cleared from the online copy of a tablespace (potentially a long time after the copy was taken)?
(III) Do you know any links (Oracle documentation or other online resources) explaining these datails?
Thank you for any hints and answers
    kind regards
    Martin

Its a highly technical question and I can be completely wrong due to my very less knowledge but I would attempt to answer still. Hope I say something sensible so bear with me.
As far as I understand, an online backup of a tablespace can be performed by copying the OS files making up a tablespace while the database is up and being used (i.e. transactions are modifying data in the database).Correct. But it would depend on the tool you are going to use to do so.Using o/s level commands like CP and all would require you to manually copy the files to the backup location. Using RMAN, it would be lot easier and RMAN would take care of everything.
Before the copying of the OS files starts, the Oracle RDMS must be notified that an online backup is being taken via "ALTER...BEGIN BACKUP" (such that some additional information is written to the Redo Log, which may be required for subsequent recovery using the online backup). Again, this is a requirement only in the case of user-managed backup . In that case, because of the fractured block issue , its important that the corresponding older information/image of the buffer is also copied in the redo stream and that's done when the begin backup command is used. Using RMAN, this is not needed as RMAN can read the consistent image which it would store in the backup piece, exactly in the same way in which select request is fulfilled by oracle for a dirty buffer which is yet to be made consistent.
During recovery the Oracle RDBMS uses the copies of the OS files together with the online and archived redo logs in order to reconstruct all committed transactions and it further uses the UNDO tablespace to rollback open (uncommitted) transactions.Correct!
Thinking about this, it seems to me, that in order for this to work in all possible scenarios the undo information from the time the backup was >taken may be required. Therefore backup of the UNDO tablespace should be taken as well (see the explanation for this assumption below). >However browsing the internet (including the Oracle online documentation) I did not find any statements concerning the backup of the UNDO >tablespace when an online backup is taken. Moreover I couldn't figure out when exactly such a backup of the UNDO tablespace must be done, to >ensure that the database can be recovered in all scenarios. The reason that its not a must to do so is that if the transaction is yet active, there is no way that Oracle would overwrite the Undo information of it, even if you may come after 100 years, it would be there. The Undo segment would mark those blocks as active undo blockswhich contains the information of that transaction whose status within the transacton table of that undo segment is still marked as active. So its there all the time in the undo tablespace. Now, for an instance, let's assume that the undo is not there as well( it would be but let's assume), the changes made to the undo segment's blocks are also recored in the redo as its just a change happening to any other segment like EMP,DEPT except with the difference that its not done by you but by oracle. So using that information, in the future , if there would be a need to replay those changes, necessary information to do so can be brought up from the redo blocks stored in the redo/archive logs. Yes, if there would be pending transactions that would require Undo information to get them rolled back and you have lost Undo tablespace and have no backup of it , you wont be able to bring back the database as it would be inconsistent and oracle would not let you to do it. In that case, you may require to use hacks to get it up and that would be really tricky situation.
    (I) Is there any requirement to backup the UNDO tablespace together with an online backup of a tablespace, and if so, where is this stated in the Oracle documentation? As I said above, it must be there if you are anticipating loss of Undo tablespace. If you have lost it, you would need a backup and all the archive logs and redo logs to recover and get it back to the point where the current database is . Rest, oracle would take care as it would reapply the redo contents of the undo segments over the undo segment and get it consitent.
(II) What mechanisms ensure that uncommitted transactions can be cleared from the online copy of a tablespace (potentially a long time after the copy was taken)? As I said , pending transaction's undo is never overwritten by Oracle. Its always kept and marked as active undo . Only a transaction end would make it elgible to get overwritten and that too won't happen immediately(undo_retention would kick in) .
(III) Do you know any links (Oracle documentation or other online resources) explaining these datails?I have to see if its there some where step by step mentioned and I shall update the reply once I shall find the link. Hoep someone else in the meantime finds it .

  • Inventory management: Validy dates in queries???

    Hi experts,
    We have BW 7.0.
I have loaded data on 04.03.2010 with BF- and UM-datasources and compressed it correctly.
When I now look into the validy table for plant 0001 there is a validy range from 03.07.1997 to 08.02.2010.
But when I start a query for 09.02.2010 system says "no data found".
The document "How To Handle Inventory Management Scenarios in BW" says that I should show the result in parenthesis!
    What is up here?
But I don't want to update this validy table!!!
    Pls help!
    KR,
    Raimund
    Text in  document:
...For example, if data with document data was loaded into the
InfoCube with values from 01.01.2002 to 15.02.2002 (assigned to the respective time
characteristic), the validity interval is also determined by these two date values. You can
extend the intervals by maintaining the table (transaction RSDV). Stock balances are
displayed for requests that relate to this period. If you start a query that requests the
stock balance for 16.02.2002 or later, the result is displayed in parenthesis (a blank
value is displayed in BW 2.0B and 2.1C), since it lies outside the validity area (providing
that the validity table was not manually extended using transaction RSDV)....

    Hi,
    Hi,
Use 2LIS_03_BX, 2LIS_03_BF, 2LIS_03_UM to 0IC_C03 Cube and design the report.
    Use :
    0VALSTCKVAL   " for Value
    0VALSTCKQTY   " for Qty
    0CALMONTH        " for Month
Use the above combinations in New Selections in columns and go it.
    For Qty Opening:
New Selection bad drag abd drop following things
    0VALSTCKQTY   " for Qty
0CALMONTH        " for Month and restrict with less then or equalto option variable (single value, user input)  and set the offeset
value = -1 bcoz if user will give 12.2009 , so it will display 11.2009 closing stock, this is opening for 12.2009.
    For Qty Closing:
New Selection bad drag abd drop following things
    0VALSTCKQTY   " for Qty
0CALMONTH        " for Month and restrict with less then or equalto option variable (single value, user input) .
In the same way build for Value and other Keyfigures on 0IC_C03.
    And
    Drag & drop
    0MATERAIL
0PLANT  " Give some Input Variable.
    See the steps.

Setting up material movement/inventory with limit locking time
If it is BI 7 then for BX in in DTP in Extraction Tab you need to select Extacrion mode = NON-Cumulative option.

Windows, XP Pro, Did/didn't work with 8, 8.1, 8.3, uninstalled, repaired, reinstalled. Works for a while then won't

I did read your post (even if I am sick), but I did not read your information into your post. The word "my" I see as ones you created, but is often used by folks to just mean PDF files they have obtained. It is simply a reading and interpretation issue.
Anyway, if you have set no permissions, it should not be a problems. Maybe someone else has an answer. Otherwise I will have to wait until I get back to town and work to check out AA8.1.3 for the option you are mentioning.
Are you able to do a copy and paste yourself? Are the others using an earlier version of Reader or Acrobat. If it is the latter, you might want to use Reduce File size or PDF Optimize to save to an earlier version compatibility. The only thing that makes this step questionable is that you have it working with no security set. Anyway, it might be worth checking.
Sorry for the misreading of your post, but I did not interpret "my" as your creation. Bill

  • SOAP to JMS using Sync/Async bridge - configuration confirmation needed

    Hi group,
Since I'm experincing error in a scenario using sync/async bridge in jms adapter I really would like a confirmation on my configuration.
    For a simple SOAP to JMS scenario is it then correct that all I need is;
    1) 2 synchronous message interfaces, 1 inbound and 1 outbound
    2) 1 Receiver determination
    3) 1 Interface determination
    4) 1 Receiver agreement (JMS adapter with module configuration)
    5) 2 Sender agreements (in my case 1 soap and 1 JMS adapter - the later with module configuration).
    6) The sender and receiver JMS adapters point to different MQ queues (request and response queues)
    7) The sender agreement for the JMS adapter uses my synchronous, inbound message interface (isn't this really just a "dummy" to actually fetch data from response queue - meaning that the actual utilized business system/service, MI and namespace are unimportant, since the module will make the adapter notify the listening module in the receiver JMS adapter?)
    Best Regards,
    Daniel

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
I'm familiar with the links provided. I believe everything is configured as it should be, but since I get error I would like to have my configuration confirmed. Neither the weblog (or SAP guide) are detailed enough to convince me 100% that my configuration is correct. Surely the problem could be on the MQ side, but before going into that, I want to be sure that its not on XI-side.
So I really would like confirmation on the steps/question that I wrote:-)
    Best Regards,

  • BPM Transport Acknowledgement

    Hi
I am doing the scenario JDBC-IDOC-JDBC.
retrieve the data from JDBC and generate IDOC for each record and send to ECC.
and then i need to update the status in JDBC for those records that are successfully transfered to ECC..
if some records(each record in JDBC = one IDOC) i mean IDOC got failed to reach ECC that particular record we should not update in JDBC.
For this i am using  Transport Acknowledgement option in async send step and send the IDOC to ECC.after succefull transfer of IDOC to ECC..,my further steps need to execute( here JDBC Update mapping and send steps)
    question:
if send step receives the +ve ACK then the further steps will execute normally?
In BPM if the adapter sends a negative ACK (-ve) can we stop BPM and cancel that process using exception handler??(with out deadline branch)i no need to wait for any time period.
we have an option "system error" in send step..will it trigger for negative ack?? if not for what purpose we can use that??
    Thanks

then i think it Will not execute next steps
It depends on what Error handling you use in the BPM....suppose you wrap your Send step in a Block with Exception Branch and either leave the Exception Branch Empty or include a Throw Alert step then the further steps will be executed in the BPM.
If you include Cancel Process Control Step then the BPM will stop when it gets an exception.
what's the purpose of using the Transport ack.??
Transport Ack is basically used in those scenarios where you want to confirm that the message has been delivered by SAP XI/ PI succuessfully to the end system....not to confirm whether the message has been processed by the end system.
Mostly used with FILE (not compulsory though) and in similar scenarios where the end system/ protocol does not support ACK.
terminate process as u told will terminate all the 50 transactions or only that particuar instance and remaining will execute normally??
Terminate process will be executed when the BPM reports any error and is catched by the the Exception Branch having the relevant Control Step....this will cause the BPM to stop there itself.
No further steps will be executed.

  • Upgrade Process from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012

    Hi All,
I have gone thru multiple threads and would like to understand some steps in detail for me to upgrade SQL 2005 to SQL 2012.
Below is my understanding and questions around it, I would be setting up a new environment with OS 2007/2008 with SQL 2012:
Environment Readiness - Ensure new environment is ready with Win 2007/2008 with SQL 2012 Server
Run Upgrade Advisor on the new environment and point to SQL 2005 instance
Find the breaking/discontinued changes to be done before or After Upgrade
<Question>: Over here I would like to know what should be our approach to make the required changes
<Question>: Obviously I should not be making changes directly on the Production SQL 2005 server, then in that case should I take a backup/restore on the new SQL Server 2012 and then make the required changes to the database objects
like (Table schema(changing column names/datatypes etc.), Stored Procedure, Functions & Views)
<Question>: When I do a backup/restore I would also get the data along with it, so is this a recommended approach or should we only run/use the table schema creation scripts, fix the issues identified by UA and then do an Table to Table import,
    any thoughts on this ?
<Question>: If I have to do a table to table Import then I should ensure there's a downtime during the Import or would I have any other better approach
So, basically my questions are around the approach of fixing the issues identified by UA and moving the database to SQL Server 2012 environment, I have around 300 databased to me upgraded.
Please do let me know what should be a good/proven approach ? Pl. do let me know if you would need any more details from me.
    ---Umesh

    Thanks all for the replies.
I am trying summarize what I have understood here:
Document SQL Server 2005 environment details, Is there any tool which could give us all relevant details
I would take the backup from the SQL Server 2005 Production environment and then restore the same in a test environment which again has SQL Server 2005 and Run Upgrade Advisor on that
Probbaly run SQL Profiler as well to find out the deprecated changes to be done
I should fix all the breaking, discontinued changes on the Test system identified by UA
I should fix all the deprecated changes on the Test system identified by SQL Profiler
Steps 3 & 4 should give me the changed scripts for all database objects (i.e. Table Schema, Stored Procedures, Functions & Views)
<Question> Perform test, I understand this acitivity test can be captured by having SQL profiler running in the background on the SQL Server 2005 production environment where we can identify some days in a week or a month where maximum activity is
expected to ensure we cover most the scenarios, let me know is this approach looks fine or is there a better approach
Now, with regards to acutal upgrade I need to identify a time window where in less activity is done during which I could have a downtime for the actual SQL Server 2005 production environment
Post downtine, I should do a BackUp for all databases from SQL Server 2005 production environment
Test on environment readiness of SQL Server 2012 can be compared against the documentation done as part of the first Step
<Question> Ideally I should a restore first in the new environment which has SQL Server 2012
<Question> Then run the Scripted changes where we fixed all the breaking, discontinued & deprecated changes
<Question> Does above sequence of Step 9 & 10 make sense or is there a better approach of doing it
<Question> Post Upgrade and running of changed scripts, I should run the Upgrade Advisor again and see if everything looks fine
<Question> Perform test again which we ran on SQL Server 2005 Test environment
<Question> These steps should complete the Upgrade process.
Please do let me know if the above sequence look ok to all of you and does it really work in a practical scenario, do let me know your feedback or any change in sequence/process or any other tools that can be used here.
    Thanks Again ...
