Go connect to server crashes finder without hitting connect
i didn't see this issue posted elsewhere, i apologize if it is.
every time i click on go > connect to server... in the finder, the finder crashes BEFORE i even enter in a server to connect to. the server connection dialog is only visible for a split second. i have already repaired permissions, restarted, and updating to 10.4.11 didn't resolve the issue.
any ideas would be appreciated.
I really hate to bump this, but I'm still plagued with this problem. If any of you have any ideas that would be very helpful.

Obviously, the int10 module and its BIOS initialization fails. Should I try to disable int10? I use exactly the same xorg.conf as about a half year ago when X worked fine, even with 3D acceleration. (glxgears showed some 250 fps, which was amazing on a 6 years old *server*.)
I saw lots of quite recent bug reports about crashing savage drivers on Gentoo and Debian bugzillas. Most people report crashes during X sessions or after logout. This is not the case. My X server crashes immediately, without even changing the graphics mode or showing anything. So I thought I could ask here. Perhaps someone will know how to fix it.
I use an up-to-date ArchLinux installation with a 2.6.27.7 vanilla kernel. (The machine has more than 100 days of uptime.)What version of driver/xserver are you using? 1.6/2.6.3 from testing or older? If yuo are using testing one - bug is reported here: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13651

Our exchange server crashed and we lost all contact and calendar data. We found an app to get the contacts off of people's phone to import but can't find the same for calendar. How do I get my calendar info off my phone and in to new exchange server?
You'd have to think through this, but it seems like if you are using Outlook, and the items vanished from the Outlook client as well as the server,that you could re-populate Outlook using iTunes.

Server's network drive crashes Finder.
Hi all,
Im having a problem where intermittently, trying to open a folder on a home server's networked (AFP) drive is crashing Finder and forcing me to do a hard reboot. force quitting finder DOES NOT fix it. I click on the server on the lefthand side in finder, and then on a folder ON the server, and it hangs and gives me the pinwheel.

Server crashed trying to find the cause
I'm trying to find the cause of our server crashing. It creates a memory.dmp file. I used a tool to look at it and the below is the output. But I can't find the cause in here can anyone else read these?

Do you install Exchange 2013 on your server? If so, the issue could be due to an Exchange Service process terminated WININIT.EXE. You could refer to the article below to resolve the issue:

Server crashes after router restarts, different routers, same result!
Hello team,
I've had this problem before, and it's getting really annoying.
Every time I restart my router, my server will crash. It's almost always the case. I don't know why. It's not my router, I have tried 3 different routers. I thought maybe my RAM was faulty, that's not the case either.
Any thoughts?
p.s.
my server always assigns its own DNS address to my clients, so when the server crashes, the clients are left without internet. How can I stop this from happening?

DB server:
Linux red hat 4.4 64 bit
Model dell 6950
oracle version=10.2.0.3
App server:
Linux red hat 4.4 32 bit
Model dell 2950
Apps version =11.5.10.2
I've been noticing DB server crashed 4 times in past 5 months. 2 out of 4 crashed was happened during PAYROLL related process like sick leave,payroll process .
Nothing pop up either in Linux log or alert log.
Does anyone had have similar issue in past?

i have an application deployed in OC4J, this application, due to dabase locks, its started to respond very slowly (i had some JSP with 102 seconds response time)
about 12:50 i had 175 active connection in that OC4J container, some moments after HTTP Server Crashed ... why ?

Just wanted to let everyone know to be careful when using CoverFlow in folders containing PSD documents. Some of my PSD's are crashing Preview (and in turn QuickView, CoverFlow, and Finder!) ... There isn't anything special about the PSD's that do this, some were created on my old WinXP machine and others on this iMac. I've uploaded one to my server in case anyone wants to take a look (especially someone at Apple!!) - be advised that using QuickView to view this file will crash Finder, although if you open the file in Photoshop you'll see that it's just a simple, single-layer document. Nothing fancy at all.

Once more, using QuickView to view this file will crash Finder, as will using CoverFlow on the folder containing this file. On my iMac the crash and subsequent re-launch of Finder is very quick, but you may not be so lucky. Anyway, I hope this problem is solved soon, so that I can use CoverFlow without having to worry about crashing Finder!I'm definitely using maximize compatibility. I've tried all kinds of things to try and nail down what the mystery factor is. Most of my psds do open fine. I've tried changing the colour profile, changing whether the file has a bg layer, turning preview on and off. thanks for trying though, and I'm all ears for any other suggestions. It's pretty annoying. I'm wondering if it's something to do with embedded metadata--as far as I can tell, they're all files that were generated out of Lightroom.

MTU > 1530 crashes finder. Pretty much says it. MTU of 1531 will crash AFP connection attemps and kill the finder.
NICs support jumbo frames. Trying to share between two PowerMac G4's. Only MTU that works is 1530 and less. 1531 and over will crash the computer.
Need to get jumbo frames running.
When I go to try to resurect the finder I get a -600 error.^ I don't really understand what that means?

Apple PCI-X Gigabit cards: (follow-up from reader that reported on hawking cards on 8/29)

"Hello again... Recently I found that the Hawking cards worked and are available via newegg, and I mentioned trying out the Apple "PCI-X Gigabit Ethernet Card" in two old PowerMac G4s to try to boost the file transfer performance (MB/S) using 9000 MTU on the Apple cards vs 1500 MTU on the hawking ones. The cards came, have nice LEDs (emerald green and sapphire blue), and are very easy to install compared to other cards. I'm testing using two powermac g4s (sawtooth's) one with the stock 400 MHz proc, other with a 1.8 GHz giga upgrade, both with 512 MB PC-100 ram, the test volumes are both raid-0 on both machines over two hdd. The Apple NICs are 64-bit.
The Apple "PCI-X Gigabit Ethernet Card" is based on the BROADCOM BCM5703CKHB chipset. The cards show they are able to handle jumbo frames in the ethernet tab in the network pref. pane. I set both cards to 9000 MTU which is usually greyed out if you have a non-jumbo card. Cards are connected over a DGS-1024D switch with 9.6k frames.
I tried opening a AFP to my PVR machine (the other PM G4), the window popped up to enter the IP (I entered the IP), then I authenticated (that worked fine), then the next screen after that is the one where you choose your volume. I chose the volume and pressed OK and the AFP froze.
I found that using a MTU > 1530 crashes the finder, forcing a hard restart. I tested MTU at 1531-1540 and at every step the finder is "(not responding)" after volume selection over AFP. Very odd. I called Apple enterprise support and they said the card has no free support (even though I just bought two of them less than 2 days ago) and it would cost $199 to get started on a support case to work on an explanation why 9000 MTU causes the crashes. I returned the cards.
But before I return the cards I'll mention the performance at 1530 MTU. The xfers from one G4-A raid-0 volume to G4-B raid-0 volume produce a STR of about 25 MB/S. The Apple NICs perform very slightly better than the hawking units. The STR somestimes hit 26-28 MB/S. I used a stopwatch and the file size to get the MB/S.
The performance is exactly the same as the Hawking cards, but at 4 times the price. Not a very good bargain huh? The Apple web site says that the PCI-X Gigabit Ethernet Card requires a 800 MHz G4. Funny, as the card works semi-fine in a 400 MHz G4, albeit only at 1530 MTU. Perhaps a 800 MHz G4 is needed for 9000 MTU? Apple had no ready explanation why this is so, and mentioned it would cost $200 to start a ticket. That's how much both cards cost.
I contacted Corky at Small-Tree and he said the 90mt is my best bet for using jumbo frames and copper gig-e on a powermac g4. The 90mt is $150 a pop. He said that no one has ever tried one in a sawtooth as far as he could remember. Once my apple RMA posts to my paypal I'll drop $300 for 2 90mt's and try it out. If they can do 9000 MTU as he claims over AFP I'll keep em only if they get me over 25 MB/S.

After Effects CC, CoreAudio and QT32 Server crashes
Hi all,
I have been experiencing similar issues to other AE users regarding the Adobe QT32 Server crash problem and have been trying the various solutions posted here on this forum.
I am running a MacPro 5,1 10.7.5 with an AJA LHi card using the recommended System Default Input/Output setting for Audio
The Adobe QT32 Server would drop out as soon as AE had finished launching.
So far I have:-
removed DVCPROHDVideoutput.component from Library/Quicktime
reinstalled the ProApp Codecs
uninstalled (didn't help) and reinstalled (didn't change anything) the AJA Adobe plugins
This left me with After Effects CC running fine as long as I stayed in AE. If I switched the desktop or Safari or any other CC app, then the Adobe QT32 Server would drop out citing CoreAudio as the problem in console.
I have now selected Built In Line Output as my Audio hardware and connected that to my speakers. Since then I have been using AE quite happily for two hours without a problem and I can use other apps without crashing the QT32 Server.
Hopefully this workaround may help others while the main problems are solved.

Mac Mini Window Server Crash randomly
I am using mini since around one year connected to 2 x 22" displays. It's a 09(3,1) model upgraded with 8G of RAM + OCZ SSD.
Since a while I started to have issues with WIndow Server crash. In general Mini became unstable lately, but I can live with Safari or Adium crashes, really can't afford Window Server crashes since that is my primary working machine and I do run lot of ssh sessions during the day.
At first, the crashes occurred mainly upon idle time, but lately they started to be more than annoying. I would not like to change the hardware yet since one year for a workstation hardware is not yet enough to be replaced.

I would like to point out here, that I use several mac machines (MBP, MBA, iMAC and Mac Pro) and mini is the only one which such problems.

We have a late 2010 Mac Mini Server which after some weeks started to crash randomly. It hung the system with everything frozen, clock stopped, etc. When the summer heat came with room temperature up to 29 °C the Mac Mini became more severely affected by the crashes. Once it could run five weeks without a crash. Later it crashed even during the boot process. Sometimes it could crash five times or more in a day even without any load on it.
I left it for Apple service and they told me a faulty Airport circuit board could make these crashes and replaced it.
However, as soon as the Mac Mini went back to work the same old crashes appeared again.
With the Mac came a "Diagnostics EFI 3X107" which could be copied to an USB and booted from USB. This will test a lot of things in the Mac. Now it crashed repeated times always within 18 minutes!
The server was returned to Apple service. Now they said they have replaced the whole CPU and logic board. Today we will collect it and give it a try again.

Yes, Office 365 (Exchange Online) would work perfectly with DirSync.
If the requirement is for mail to work even when the internal environment is down, then do not implement AD FS because in that scenario, authentication is dependent on access to the domain controllers in the internal environment.
As for simply hosting one's own server in Azure, I just read an article that recommends against it:
- Exchange uses alot of resources. You would need a rather expensive configuration.
- You would still be responsbile for the updates.
- Your VPN connection would have to be very reliable. Exchange is constantly querying the domain controllers / global catalogs. EDIT - I see you wrote "without a VPN" - well, that's not possible. Exchange will never work directly across the Internet
like that.

Indesign Server crashes unexpected
Hello forum,
in the last weeks we have a big problem with InDesignServer CS3 (Ver 5.0.5.697). From time to time one of the running instances crashes with a weird error message in the windows event log. It consists of the following three entries:
1. Message: [Server] D [8764] [20082] (8764 is the process id, 20082 the port. But what does the D tell me)
2. Message: [Server] Adobe InDesign wird beendet. Es wurde ein schwerwiegender Fehler festgestellt. Starten Sie InDesign erneut, um InDesign-Dokumente wiederherzustellen, die nicht gespeichert wurden. [8764] [20082]
(German version, it says, that InDesign will be closed because of a fatal error.
3. Message: Fehlerhafte Anwendung InDesignServer.exe, Version 5.0.5.697, Zeitstempel 0x49a4cf58, fehlerhaftes Modul Public.dll, Version 5.0.5.697, Zeitstempel 0x49a4ce0b, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000005, Fehleroffset 0x0002e1fa, Prozess-ID 0x223c, Anwendungsstartzeit 01cd34df392c8230.
We have no clue, what this is all about. The instances recover by themselfes after a while, but some of the jobs which are send to it throw errors. The Scripts we sent to the instance right before the crash runs without a problem after the restart.
Can anyone help?

MichaelThanks Harbs. We are looking at full automation and so removing the pages manually is not an option. But I did find a script at InTools http://in-tools.com/article/scripts-blog/script-of-the-day-jan-24-2010/ that helps with automating the removal of empty pages. This script appears to be a nice workaround for server side usage. I used it on my document with multiple column text frames and it is removing the empty page as expected. If there is a better way to do this, let me know. Thanks.

Yes it was working before the crash, And Even after the Crash i.e
after starting the server in Xwindows I was installing the rpms from RHEL6/Packages directory on the server even installed 10-12 rpms
and was in the process of installing the sabayon rpm i 've inadvertantly issued or run this command
rpm -ivh *.rpm --force --nodeps from RHEL software Packages directory.
and it ended up with Errors Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID fd431d51: BAD
After that I could Not install any rpm from rpm or yum command.
I 've Downloaded the new sabyon* and Other rpms from the net and tried to install them with rpm or yum command but
got the same Errors Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID fd431d51: BAD
with yum am getting this error
error: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID ec551f03: BAD.
I 've Tried searching on google as well for at least 10 hours but did not get any help from it so far.
The Reinstallation of OS is not AN Option for me rightnow.
Could you tell something which i could try & may be that works.
