Go Live to Dreamweaver 8

I have a site that was originally developed in GoLive5. I
know some but not a ton about Dreamweaver. Ive done some CD based
HTML Projects. Our web site was developed in GoLive and i would
like to maintain it in Dreamweaver but when I open the html pages
it shows nothing except where my flash file is. i don't need all of
my elements of my page to show up but at least the tables and the
text would be nice.

  • Index file freezes up live view dreamweaver cc 2014 .

    Hi,
I have a html5 site that the index file was rendering fine yesterday in live view and today it freezes up dreamweaver cc 2014. The page will not render in live view however when viewed in a browser it views correctly. The rest of the site files will view properly just not the index.html file.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Are you using valid HTML code?
    The W3C Markup Validation Service
Does your index page contain any neutral protocol links to 3rd party servers like TypeKit?
If yes, try changing //: to http://
If that doesn't help, we'll need to see a link to your page.

  • Fonts not displayed correctly in Live View Dreamweaver CS4

I have a site that uses the Nuptial Script font.   Everything is displayed correctly in Design View and in IE and FireFox.
But LiveView does not display the font correctly; in fact, the text with Nuptial Script is not readable in LIveView.    If I change the font from Nuptial Script to Arial (yuck) as a test, LiveVIew displays the pages correctly.   Other fonts like Vivaldi work in LIveVIew.  Nuptial Script does not work in LIveVIew.

This is display correctly for you in any browser because you have the font installed on your system.  As far as I know, I don't have that script, so your page would not render as intended if I viewed it in either FFox or IE.
You need to set up a font-family when defining a non-web-safe font, so that if someone doesn't have your first choice of font, they'll be able to see it in another of your choosing  (but needs to be web-safe).

  • Dreamweaver 2014.1 Live view is showing old version of file

I'm running Window 7 (64-bit) and upgraded from Dreamweaver CC 2014 to 2014.1 a couple days ago.  Since I'm using fluid grid design view is not available, so when I view my files in Live view Dreamweaver (DW) is showing very old versions when I edit some files (not all).  When I use split view the code is correct, but it doesn't correspond at all to what I'm seeing in Live View. The code window shows the current version of the file and the live view window shows an old version. Any idea?  Also, live view in this new version seems to be extremely slow.
Another question is, how can I re-install the old version (CC 2014)?  I tried to uninstall and re-install, but the install automatically installs 2014.1 and doesn't give an option. Thus far, I am very unhappy with what I've seen so far in 2014.1 and would really like to back off 2014 to speed things up.
    Thanks much

    Hi Preran.
I seam to have the same problem on a Mac. Also Live view keeps crashing and linked to Adobe BC.
If the live view crashes then the live view is showing an older version on the CSS file until I do a refresh. Its been driving me Nuts!
Also the CSS file is no longer automatically uploading to Adobe CC...
So I really could do with a solution for me to run on CC 2014.0 Please.
I am a subscriber to CC.
    Cheers Jake

  • Flash Movie will not display in Dreamweaver

A movie that I created with Flash CS6 will not play in a webpage that I created in Dreamweaver CS6.  When I select "Live" in Dreamweaver, I get a prompt to download the Flash 11.7 player.  I've downloaded this player several times, and the movie still does not play in DW.  The movie displays when select play in Flash.
How can I get the movie to play in Dreamweaver?

More to the point: Does it play in any browser on your system? If not, you may have to fix that first. In nay case, ask your question in the DW forum and provide more details like soem system information to begin with...

  • Dreamweaver CS5 is not Supported on This Type of Mac

I recently got a new iMac and went to reinstal my CS5 Web Premium Student Edition and only installed Dreamweaver. I was able to use it yesterday fine. Today when I booted up. the dreamweaver icon has a anti symbol over it and says "you can't open the application "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5" because it is not supported on this type of mac."
What went wrong and what do I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

I am running OSx 10.9 and I do not see anything about Roseta or Intel when viewing the info about the app. After I used DW yesterday fine, I ran the auto updates from within DW and perhaps when I rebooted this morning is when it broke.  I just now uninstalled CS5 and reinstalled DW (I'm not using the other apps). It has updates to do but scared..
It wants to update the following:
    Adobe Device Central CS
    Adove Dreamweaver
    - Adobe player
    - CS Live Service
    - Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4 updater
    - Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 update
I haven't tried yet to update because either that or some other stange thing happened. I've never seen an app with an anti symbol over it.

  • Dreamweaver cs6 support arabic?

i try use dreamweaver cs6 but it can't support arabic
any way to make it support arabic
when i was installed it , i was chose english support arabic
    but nothing happend
my system mac os x 10.7.3
    thanks

Your image doesn't mean very much to anyone who doesn't understand Arabic. However, it looks to me as though the Arabic is correctly displayed, except for the fact that it's on the left side of the page.
I don't understand Arabic, but I went to Google Translate to create a short sentence, which I then pasted into my English version of Dreamweaver. Here's what it looks like:
Like your example, the Arabic appears to be correct, but it's on the left of the page. However, notice the style rule that I have created in the head of the document. It sets the CSS direction property to rtl (right to left).
When I click the Live button, Dreamweaver then displays the Arabic correctly from the right of the page like this:
As far as I can tell, Design view is not capable of displaying Arabic (or other right-to-left languages) from the right side of the page. You need to turn on Live view to see the page displayed as intended.
Please understand that this is an English-language forum, and very few people are likely to have experience with Arabic. To get help, you need to speak to Adobe technical support.

  • Dreamweaver 3 site settings - import to cs4?

Crazy, I know it - but I was working with Dreamweaver 3 until my computer crashed. Now I have CS4 and want my old sites back.  I have a back up of the registry files but how would I get these settins into CS4?

If your site files exist (they do not live within Dreamweaver, they are in your file structure on the computer), Go into CS4 and Define the sites again.
If you do not have the files locally, but they are on the server, Define the sites again and bring down ("GET") a copy of each site to your local computer.
The definition does not hold the site, it only tells Dreamweaver where the site is and what files it consists of.
I trust you have all the remote access information stored carefully in a notebook somewhere off the computer...
I do not have experience running two (or more) versions of DW on the same computer at the same time. I would suggest that might confuse the situation.

  • Dreamweaver Freeze JavaScript (F6) is disable! Why?

I will freeze JavaScript in my htm file in live view Dreamweaver but this command is disable.

    @e1a1s,
Those options will be enabled only when you select "Hide Live View Displays".
Since the Element displays in Live View are also JS implementations, disabling or freezing Javascript before hiding them would have yielded undesirable results. Hence, this solution.
    Hope this helps,

  • CS live internal error

I changed my email for the adobe Id  and now when I try the CS live in Dreamweaver CS5, it keeps saying "internal error". Is there anyway to correct this problem?
    Thanks

Ok, I finally got it fixed. I tried uninstalling and re-installing DW but the CS live still gave an internal error. I could create a new user on my computer and run DW on it and I could sign in to CS live with my new adobe id that I had created. So after playing around a little bit I found that if I delete all the files located in C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CS5.5ServiceManager (after backing it up in case I mess something up that should not be messed with) and then start DW up, I can then sign in to CS live.
I hope this will help anyone else who has a problem with CS Live.
P.S. When I tried to sign in, it kept telling me that there was a connection issue and to try again later. I ended up having to log into adobe browser in Firefox and then try logging into CS Live in DW. It connected and seems to be working now.

  • Blank spaces in code view

    Hello,
Whenever I copy and paste text from another website -- sometimes from my own website after it goes live -- onto Dreamweaver, the text looks just fine in Design view. Fonts and paragraphs are preserved, as they're supposed to according to my preferences.
However, when I look at the code view, there are always several -- sometimes a whole lot of -- blank spaces separating words; blank spaces that were not in the original text (even in code view) and that can't be detected in Dreamweaver's design view.
It looks ok online just like it looks ok in Dreamweaver's design view, but I'm just a little concerned that those blank spaces may confuse search engine crawlers.
For instance. In design view and online, one sees:
    "Great Holiday"
but in the code view/source page you'll see
    "Great                    Holiday"
That's what the crawlers and spiders will see as well. And they may think that "Great Holiday" and "Great                    Holiday" are two different sets of keywords when they should be the same.
How can I ensure that only *one* blank space is allowed in Dreamweaver's code view, whenever I copy and paste text from webpages? Is there a way that I can preserve the texts' format and fonts while ensuring *one* blank space in code view?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

No, actually this is what happens:
If one of us copies text from our blog online (www.altfg.com/blog/) we see the following in Dreamweaver's design view:
Right behind Clash of the Titans, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, featuring the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, and
America Ferrera, earned $3.8 million (+9.2%) domestically on Thursday,
but in code view there are blank spaces between words. Blank spaces that shouldn't be there:
    <p>Right behind <em><strong><a href=
    "http://www.altfg.com/blog/movies-431/clash-of-the-titans-box-office-predictions/"
    >Clash       of the Titans</a></strong></em>, DreamWorks Animation’s <em>How to   Train Your Dragon</em>, featuring     the voices of <strong>Jay Baruchel</strong>,<strong> <a href=
    "http://www.altfg.com/blog/photos/bradley-cooper-gerard-butler-andrew-r-jones-810/"
    >Gerard       Butler</a></strong>, and <strong>America Ferrera</strong>, earned     $3.8 million (+9.2%) domestically on Thursday, </p>
Notice the blank spaces separating "featuring      the voices" or "Gerard       Butler." Those shouldn't be there. Maybe it makes no difference. On the browsers, it all looks fine. But is there a way to ensure that Dreamweaver doesn't allow more than one blank space between words in code view?
Also, *no one* has responded to my query about automatic hyperlinks for images. Any ideas?
That has been such a drag.

    Thank you.

  • How to go back one url, action?

In Golive this was easy, you just created a "go last page" action.
I have tried for some time now to figure the method in dreamweaver cs4 with no luck, as well I also tried cutting and pasting the code from GO-Live into dreamweaver.
    any direction will be appreciated.
    Thx
    Brad

Hey Brad. Here is a easy way of what you are trying to do with css and cleans up all the heavy html that only slows things down. Any time you can use css to you advantage then use it and any time you don't need all the html mock up then clean it. Let me walk you through what I did for you...very easy.
First this is the code you started with:
    <a><a onclick="history.back();return false;"href="/pages/previous.html"><imgsrc="../../../images/beds/tables_spa/diego.gif" class="elitephoto"/></a>
    Replace it with this:
    <a onclick="history.back();return false;" href="/pages/previous.html" class="elitephoto"></a>
As you can see it is already almost half the html as the original, but it holds all the code you will need as the rest of the magic happens in the css. You already had a class attached to the <a> of "elitephoto" so we will use this in our css to target this <a> tag.
Here is the css you simply add to your css:
    a.elitephoto{
        display:block;
width:50px; /*adjust to the size of your image*/
        height:50px;
background: url(path to image.png) no-repeat center center; /*adjust the position of the image as needed*/
    a:hover.elitephoto{
background: url(path to swap out image.png) no-repeat center center ; /* this will be the image you are swaping out the original with*/
The first rule of a.elitephoto makes the <a> tag a block level element, defines the size and then calls for the background image. You simply took the image src out if the html (which you should do when ever possible) and calling it from the css.
The next rule of a:hover.elitephoto simply calls for the swap over image and will swap out on mouse over.
Simple...fast and much more efficient then all the embedded html !
One last note... you could use a single image for both the original and the swap out image. You simply change the position of the image in the positioning of the same image in the css to expose the portion that you want. This is the desired technique as for your css will make a single call for a image and already have it cached and ready to swap out (or in the case...slide into position)   when a user hovers over the original image. Might sound a little tricky, but really simple to do. Try the above way first then fine tune later when you get a hang of it.

  • Should I upgrade my software?

I would like to upgrade to CS4, but I am not sure what is the best thing to do considering my hardware limitations.
Currently I am running CS1 (Production Premium bundle? Includes Premier Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrater, In Design, Go Live (!), Encore, Audition, Version Cue, Acrobat) on the following system:
3.4GHz Pentium 4 550 with HTT (shows up as two 3.4 GHz proc's), 800 MGz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, 1GB PC-3200 400MGz DDR, ATI Radeon X600 XT 256 MB, system on WD 250GB 7200 rpm SATA, storage on Promise 2+0 Stripe SCSI RAID 0 (2 400GB WD drives), Windows XP Media Center edition SP3. It is an off the shelf Sony Viao R VGC-RA826G. I only added a SCSI controller and storage drives.
I can add one more GB of RAM (2GB total) and plan to. Otherwise, this machine seems to be fairly un-upgradeable. After a lot of searching, I can't find any recommended video card upgrade or anyone who has sucessfully done that on this model. Physical space limitations of the case and proprietary design and fit of the small power supply have been specifically mentioned as hindrences to upgrading. Still, the system is well above minimum specs for CS1. It was pretty close to "state of the art" when I bought it in 2005 and CS1 was the latest from ADOBE at the time, so the system and the software should be fairly well matched. It's funny, at the time folks were raving about the video card with 256MB and the HUGE 2GB of available RAM. Even the HTT processer was still a marvel back then...
I would really like to upgrade my software and take advantages of all the improvements (including the replacement of Go Live with Dreamweaver and Flash). First I would like to hear some experienced opinions about whether my system can handle it... I know with 2 GB of RAM it will meet the minimum requirements for CS4, but I wonder if I am better off meeting the minimum requirements of CS4 or sticking with CS1 for which I am well over-spec'ed...
BOTTOM LINE: All in all, would I be better off with CS4 on this machine (or CS2 or CS3), or am I better off leaving CS1 on this machine because of the processor, RAM and GPU limitations?
    Eddy

You can't upgrade to CS2 or CS3 since they're no longer available. The CS to CS4 upgrade price will go up by $200. at the end of April and if all things remain the same, when CS5 comes out you won't be eligible to upgrade at all.
Now that that's out fo the way, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you won't be at all happy with the performance of CS4 on that machine. At this point, you'd be far better off buying a new machine with Vista 64 a 512 meg video card and at least 8 gigs of RAM.
You can download the trials if you'd like but I'll be shocked if you're happy with the performance.
