Go-OpenOffice Writer Will Not Create New File

I'm having a problem with go-openoffice writer, where it is unable to create a new file. If I open writer directly, a file appears for a split second on my screen and then disappears. This also happens if I attempt to create a new file from withing an already existing file. Strangely, I can open already existing files, just not create new ones.
I tried uninstalling and resinstalling go-openoffice, but this didn't help. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Thanks.

Yes that's my problem. I can't open an empty writer window. If I execute writer from the Gnome applications menu or from a terminal, I see the window for a split second and then it disappears, as if something is immediately closing the window the moment it opens. This also happens if I use the create new file command in the file menu, from an existing Writer file. This is not a problem with other Ooo apps. Base, Calc, Draw, Impress, Math all open new files fine. Only writer has the problem.
As a completely cumbersome work around, I can open an existing file, use save-as to create another file, and then delete it's contents.

Try Finder>Library>Preferences>Microsoft>com.microsoft.word.prefs.plist, and delete that last one.
I don't know that it will solve your problem, but I'm pretty sure that's what the guy did before. Good luck!

Ical will not create new / delete old calendars

On my imac, ical will not create a new calendar (File / New Calendar) and will not delete the calendar (Edit / Delete) that is in there (a custom calendar called 'group 3' that was never used - the default calendars are not in there either).
I tried same on my ibook and it worked as expected.
Back to the imac, I delete the imac application from the applications folder, then did a custom install from my OS X 10.4 disk. Although the install completed successfully, the situation is no different.

PS CS6 will not open new files, but will re-open old ones

For no apparent reason, and all of a sudden, PS CS6 on this PC will not open any previously unopened psd files. It will open them if I've opened them before. Running win7, have all the latest drivers, versions, etc, including the latest video drivers. Same files will open on my laptop with CS6 no problem. Also files open in CS5 no problem. I did the ctrl+shift+alt deal to reset PS, no help. Any ideas other than reinstall the suite? Is there a way to just reinstall PS?

The system info follows. The only change I've made was switching the gpu mode from "advanced" to "normal". It functions this way, but not when set to advanced.

IMovie HD nor iDVD will not create new project.....

Anyone know of any issues why iMovie HD and iDVD are not able to open projects or create new projects? iMovie HD just stops "loading" the new project and freezes, and iDVD gives me an error code:

I am having this same problem. I am able to import the film, and iMovie seems to be fully functional with a very short movie, just a few frames. When I click on a clip after I've imported an hour's worth of film, iMovie crashes and doesn't even ask me if I want to report the problem. I tried saving the file then quitting iMovie, and when I opened the file again all of the clips were in the trash.

I am not able to open a new tab.
The "+" on the right of the existing tab changes color when I click it but no new tab appears.
Selecting Command "T" does not create a new tab.
I can only get new tabs to appear by spawning these as an option within an existing page that opens new content in a new window.

BTW - the updating of my Add Ons did NOT fix the problem.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused. However this is just because Adobe Acrobat 7.0 is an outdated version & the now the activation server for it does not exist.

Write errors (-50) when I try to create new files or folders on my Airport Extreme USB disk. Restarting the Airport Extreme seems to solve the issue. Any idea why this occurring? It doesn't seem to be OS specific, meaning I can't write to the drive from a Windows PC or a MacBook Pro.

Although, I would consider it rare, it is quite possible that this drive is just not 100% compatible with the AirPorts. Typically, in these cases, the AirPort will not even recognize the drive at all ... or it will, but not allow you to access it. I actually haven't come across a case where you can read but not write to a drive consistently or vice versa ... except from Windows-based computers. Sorry!

New computer. Acrobat 7 will not create the pdf maker

Got the file from the [email protected] site as directed by tech support. It loaded and can open pdf files but will not create. When installing it said cannot create the pdf maker.
How can I fix?

What operating system are you using? I'm guessing that if you have a new computer, you most likely have an operating system that is much newer than Acrobat 7, and on which Acrobat 7 was never tested. Is that true : Adobe is likely to come out with a new version of Adobe reader that will not read Acrobat files which are created in older versions like 6 or 7

It is true that newer Reader versions are more sensitive to old (or new) documents that contain errors. But for correct documents, all new Reader versions are fully backwards compatible.

The OP is using CS. He/she could be trying to open CS2 or later.
Simply changing the file extension will do know good and only an INX exported from CS2 will work.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.

Elements 7 will not download RAW files from new 5dmarkII, ??

Got new camera for christmas 5dmark II, elements 7 will download jpegs just fine , but will not import raw files. my 40d will download both jpegs and raw with no problem ( has done so for years ). need any help I can get. thanks

When I click on the link, the page appears, but my mouse is dead. Clicking on Download and other apparent links has no effect. I'm using IE 8. Other pages/links work fine. Have you actually downloaded the ACR from the link? There is something going on with that page.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has successfully downloaded ACR 5.6 from that page.
