Go to Next/Previous Marker shortcut bug in Premiere Pro 2014

The keyboard shortcuts Shift+M and Ctrl+Shift+M to move to markers takes you to the next edit point or marker, whichever comes first.
I  found that using the shortcuts to navigate to the next Marker in the timeline will take you to the next Marker or Edit point, not to the next Marker as it does in Premiere Pro CC.
If I have missed something, I would love to know. Otherwise, this seems to be a bug in the new software.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you very much for your response. I now can see what I was doing wrong.
I have markers on the timeline. I had forgotten that I had also put some markers on my audio file.
As a result, each time I wanted to go to the next marker, of course, it went to the timeline or clip marker, whichever came first.
I have never made this mistake before.  Very embarrassed and sorry to waste anyone's time. I, at least, have now learnt something about working with markers that I didn't know.
Thanks for helping me out,
Thornie

  • Bug in Premiere Pro 2014.1

    Hello everyone,
there is a bug in Premiere Pro 2014.1 (81) - when you want to replase klip from bin or from sourse monitor on klip in your timeline (and speed of your clip on timeline is not 100%, it is set to 50% , or 60% - it is not matter) it happends, but it replaced not from moment, that you are deside (with your IN button), it replaced from the another point of the video. It happends only if your klip on timeline is not set on 100% speed (then it is on 100% speed - everything is work perfect). In previus build (AP 2014.0.1 (21)) all work perfect in any case .
Maybe someone faced a similar problem and knows its solution ?
    Best regards , Alex

Anyone from Adobe care to offer some insight as it's something that is reportedly fixed?

  • Imported dvd into premiere pro 2014 as a linked file with audio and video but audio from previous editing file is playing with video

I am editing in premiere pro 2014 on a windows 8.1 system with 12 mega byes of ram.  I imported a dvd into premiere from a .f4v that was
    burned using freemakevideo converter.
I imported the DVD into premiere and the audio that is playing is from an previous project I edited with the program, as oppose
to, the audio that is linked with the video imported.
Do you know why this is?  I cleaned my media cache and I rebooted my machine.
    Please help

Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • BUG: Inputting decimal places into new duration preferences (Premiere Pro 2014.2)

So, I checked the release notes for the newest version of Premiere Pro CC (2014.2). I was happy to see the ability to switch between frames and seconds when choosing the default durations of transitions and still images.
Immediately found a bug. Decimal places don't work correctly after switching units.
    Open Preferences.
Switch Video Transition Default Duration units from the default Frames to Seconds. Try to insert a decimal place using the keyboard. It doesn't work.
Hit OK to close the Preferences, with Video Transition Default Duration now set to seconds
Open preferences again and change the units back to frames. Now try to input decimal places. No matter where the text cursor is, the decimals just get added to the end of the form field.
This seems to affect all three form fields (not just Video Transition, but Audio and Still Frame as well).
Really weird bug, and I'm not sure how you guys at Adobe missed this one...
Anyone else having this bug? I'm on Windows 7.
If so, can someone please file an official bug report? I'm at work and low on time, but I felt like I needed to bring this up to make sure I'm not the only one in this boat.

I've reproed this issue and logged a bug report.
A workaround is to toggle the Unit setting, click Okay to close Preferences, then reopen Preferences and adjust the Value. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I urge you to submit your own bug report (Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form). The more customers who report an issue, the higher the odds that a fix will make it into the next release...

  • Weird hissing bug in Premiere Pro CS6

I'm having a very strange problem with audio in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Whenever I make a cut in an audio clip, a few seconds of broadband hiss is introduced into it after the cut. The hiss is only there in the exported video. It does not appear after every cut but about 10% of them.
The hiss is equally there when I export into different video/audio formats. It is there when I used different editing codecs. It might only be there for clips I recorded using some not so good microphones on a Canon 5D II, but the hiss only shows up after I make an audio edit and export the video/audio or just the audio. Sometimes though it shows up right away in PP before export. If I clean up the hiss in Audition for a given clip I no longer hear it in PP but again it reappears after export.
It seems like the problem shows up when editing video shot on a Canon 5D MII with the in camera mic or several shotgun mics, but not with a decent lavalier mic. Changing the edit and export codecs doesn't help the problem.
    (i7 960 3.3 GHz, Win 7 sp1 12GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 1280MB, PP 6.02)

I have not encountered the "hissing bug"
But have encountered something similar to what you describe - but with differences.
When Audio is Cut at a point, that is not a Zero-Crossing, depending on the point on the Waveform, that the Cut was made, there can be a "pop," at that spot. Adobe Audition has the ability to set Cut at Zero-Crossing, but I do not think that PrPro has that capability.
Now, all of my encounters with a non-Zero-Crossing Cut has been the formation of a Transient, which does sound just like a pop (not a hiss) sound. I have never heard a hiss, and I do not think that what you are hearing, is what I am, with non-Zero-Crossing Cuts - they just happen to appear AT an Audio Cut.
Still, you might want to look at the Waveform very closely, just to rule out non-Zero-Crossing Cuts, in case that IS causing what you observe, but just producing a different sound, due to the difference in your Audio material.
Also, have you done a side-by-side comparison in Audition between one of the files with the hiss, and the original sourse file? What differences do you see, where the Cut was made, if so?
Wish that I had more to offer than a slightly similar problem, with a different sound.
    Good luck,

  • Serious show-stopping bugs in Premiere Pro when exporting

OK, so first of all, I get that making a video editor is not an easy task. In fact, it's a nightmarish task. One I would never even attempt. However, Premiere Pro CS6 has been worked on since 1992 or so, by one of the biggest and wealthiest software companies in the world, with well paid experts on this very thing. It's supposed to be professional-grade, but bugs like this makes me wonder if it's some sort of a joke. It simply does not do what you tell it to when exporting. I come back to this problem (and similar ones) again and again. It's not me doing anything wrong. It's not me having misunderstood something. It's serious bugs in this software. There is no other explanation. Please look at these images:
To the left: the video file as it appears in Premiere Pro.
To the right: the video file as it appears once exported using the "Match Sequence Settings" option.
What you cannot see well in the images is that the quality is also significantly lower, and it stutters in an insane fashion.
It does NOT match the sequence settings. I repeat: it does NOT match.
I know some people on this board are eager to reply quickly, but I would rather have you think this over before. It gets very tiresome to have people shout out the first (incorrect) thought that pops up in their minds. Thank you for respecting that. Please only respond if you know what is going on for sure.

The "Match Sequence Settings" settings forces Pr to use rendered preview files as a source, instead of the actual source video.  If no rendered preview files are present, it defaults the export settings to the same settings that are used in the sequence to generate the preview files.  Check your sequence settings - you'll see what export settings Pr is using when MSS is selected.  Most likely, it's not what you want or expect.
I've been told that the Match Sequence Settings check box is working as designed.  I personally think it's confusing and misleading.

  • Error message: previous version saved in adobe premiere pro

    Greetings all,
PrEl 7 shut down unexpectedly when I tried to save a portion of my timeline as an avi.  When I re-opened it, I got the error message previous version of this project saved in adobe premiere pro and it would not allow me to open it.
What can I do to restore the project; I'm in the finishing stages.
    Thanks,
    Antoinette

There have been a couple of similar threads, and some are fairly recent. I do not recall if there was ever a resolution. It also seems that people have looked at the XML code in the PREL files, and their header info clearly stated PrElements, and not PrPro, yet something is not being read correctly by PrE.
Now, do you have any AutoSave versions of the PREL? Note: the default is five AutoSaves, and these are overwritten, once one has gotten the five. Check the Time/Date of each, as 003 might be later than 005.
If I can find some of those threads, I will post links to them, and also refresh my memory on any solutions.
    Good luck,

  • Final Cut Pro 7 keyboard shortcuts for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for Windows

Attached is the file that contains the Final Cut Pro 7 keyboard shortcut set for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for Windows.
This file was mistakenly left out of the Premiere Pro CS5 installer, so people who tried to switch to this keyboard shortcut set were unable to do so.
Unzip the file and then install the .kys file by copying it here:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\Keyboard Shortcuts\en_US
(where C:\ may be replaced by the a different volume if you installed somewhere other than the C drive, and en_US may be replaced by another locale ID)
This file was included in the Premiere Pro CS5.5 installer, so manually installing this file is only necessary for Premiere Pro CS5.
For information about keyboard shortcuts, including how to customize them, see this page:
    "Keyboard shortcuts"

By the way, Mac users don't need to update this file, it's for Windows users only.

  • Next/Previous Edit Shortcut and continue to Play -- Premiere Pro

    Hi,
Transitioning to PPro... In a couple of other softwares that I've used, you can Play your sequence, hit the "Next Edit" Shortcut (Down key), and have the playhead jump to the next cut in sequence AND it will continue to Play.
In PPro, it just stops as it jumps to the next edit.
Is there a particular Preferences setting that I've missed that can be tweaked or is it hard-coded as such?
    TIA,
    Alain Durocher

    Found it:
    Command-N or Command-P
which I've never used in this context, since they usually mean New Record or Print globally.

  • Bugs in Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0)

I'm going to file bug reports but just wanted to see if anyone else is having these problems...
    • setting poster frames - whenever I set a poster frame the chosen frame doesn't stick
    • video & audio preview folder location - I have my scratch disk folders all set to my RAID, but every time I quit & reopen a project the preview folder location changes to inside the folder where my project files are.  this is highly frustrating bc I save my projects in a dropbox folder for backup, and now dropbox is always trying to sync my preview file folders as well.  changing the location in project settings has no effect after a quit & reopen.
    • project manager - I recently opened a Trimmed project that was created in PPro CC (7.X), the project used to open fine but now in PPro CC 2014 (8.0) the Trimmed project has various problems, clips not lining up, or missing or having black frames.  I opened the original (non-Trimmed) project in PPro CC 2014 (8.0) and everything was fine, then I used project manager in 8.0 and the resulting Trimmed project had the same problems as the one created previous to 8.0
    anyone else?

The project was very large. Connected to 5 TB of media on a server, not local, or ext. hd.  I needed to "trim" the sequences to make them manageable to put on an Ext HD and mail around the world to different bureaus of our media company.  I opened the project manager and trimmed the first sequence and it worked fine.  All subsequent sequences ended in the same error. "Unknown error, please save and re-try." I tried changing the settings of the "trim" and nothing worked. I tried several different computer, still didn't work.  I tried saving the trimmed sequences to different HD's, servers, local desktops, etc. Nothing worked. Same Unknown Error.  I think it might have to do with audio that is in the sequence that is not being used in conjunction with the associated video.  But, that is crazy. All sequences include this type of editing. But, the first sequence that worked didn't. SO, maybe that is it.
Please fix this problem because I still need to trim these sequences and I'm on a deadline of December 1, 2014!
    Thank you,
    Ben Dyer

  • PAR bug in Premiere Pro CS4

I am encountering a pixel aspect ratio bug. I have created a 1440x1080 anamorphic project. Sequences are correctly identified as 1440x1080 (1.33). Source material is anamorphic MTS files. These play on any player without any black bars and display in the proper 1.778 aspect ratio. Task is to make MPGs suitable for DVD authoring. When I go to Export Media, the right PAR choices are not available. If I select MPEG-DVD format, this gives me only two PAR choices: 0.909, and 1.212. Either choice gives black bars in output, if selected.  The Widescreen PAR, 1.212, gives black bars at the side. They're not huge, but still they should not be there.
More choices exist in the MPEG format selection. But something very squirrely happens. The proper NTSC selection would be 720x480. If I select that, then I get black bars at the side, and PAR = 1.212 is automatically indicated. But now, if I select 721 or 719, instead of 720, something very different happens. All of a sudden, the image fills properly and there are no black bars. For 719, you get PAR = 1.187, while for 721 you get PAR = 1.184. Obviously, the right PAR = 1.778/1.5 = 1.185. But if you select 720 as the horizontal pixels, it gives you not PAR = 1.185, but PAR = 1.212 and, of course, voila you get black side bars.
I resigned myself to running the export with 721x480, but this should not be necessary! Is Adobe ever going to fix the bug??

    Hey, Todd.
The history of the situation is educational. Always nice to understand how we got to where we are. That said, I'm really more interested in finding the best workaround since the way things are done in CS4 obviously isn't going to change.
When working with 1440 / 1.33 mts files and rendering to 720 widescreen, the OP's solution was to change the dimension to 721 or 719 instead of 720 in order to get rid of the black bars, something I hadn't thought of trying. Because I don't know any better, the approach I've been using to accomplish this is to crop two sides by a few pixels.
Does either of these approaches have an advantage over the other, or is there perhaps a third (or fourth, fifth, etc.) way to go about it that's better still?

  • "Mark In" Issues - Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Hello everyone,
When I attempt to use the mark in button (to select a portion of the video from the source video), it does not work.
It also deletes a part of video and audio from the timeline.
I have tried "Clearing in and out" and everything else I can think of, but no luck.
What on Earth is going on?
    Regards, Jimmy.

When I attempt to use the mark in button... it does not work.

This sounds like you might be hitting 'Insert' or 'Overwrite'
instead of marking an in point.
