God give me strength!

I have only just ordered BT infinity, from experiance dealing with BT on the commercial side and residential there reputation still is 50/50 with me. Giving them a chance to pull something out of the bag and providing me with super high speed without problems is a big risk. After giving my notice to O2 BB, a member since they started nearly every other post i hear engineers not even bothering to turn up. I will be furious if my connection and installation dosent go ahead as planned.  FFS, BT pull your finger out its not difficult for you to produce good customer experiance and service skills and employ more UK people.  All we want is for you to listen to the customer and have that superior after sales support.
There is only a handful of decent ISPs in the UK who are trustworthy and i will have no problem going back to them and immediately cancelling BT to go back to them if the service is shoddy. When i say a handful only 2 or 3 come to mind.  BT isnt one of them neither is TalkTalk or Sky!
O2 BB, Bethere, Zen
I really hope im not posting a bad comment on here at the end of the month, after seeing many others ranting about a no show from BT and no communication from them.
Solved!

Its not getting me wound up just yet but feel more customer need to feedback. More people need to shout out to BT customer services so they can resolve these issues of customers complaining before they have even started.
Everybody knows in the IT industry BT are known for being awkward, bad customer services and confusing. Im not slagging anyone off just yet but if there are problems and lack of communications with myself and BT infinity in my property i wont be happy after coming out of a 5 year perfect connection on ADSL with another provider.
Webby im just saying ive been on here for two days ive seen more unhappy customers posting threads on here then good ones! At the moment i havent seen or heard anyone say anything positive about people actually reaching there actual estimated speed or people saying "BT are amazing best ISP in the UK" "Glad i joined" thats me being sarcastic. Its not difficult to call someone up and say the engineer cant come but we are getting someone out straight away for you. Instead a brand new customer has to call BT to tell them a problem they already know about.

By the very nature of a customer forum people will only really come here to air their problems. Very few customers forums, regardless of industy go online to priase a service.

  • OH MY GOD GIVE ME A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL YOU NOT ALL THESE WEBSITES PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have gone around in circles for hours and was up until 2 AM trying to fix my photoshop elements 11 that quit working all of a sudden.   I saved all my materials the software came with and there are no phone numbers.  When I go to a website, I get sent to chat rooms and never get to speak to a human voice unless I have the cloud version.  Please, Please please give me a phone number.  Your website shows no numbers, not even an e-mail to get any help!

    Mozilla does not have the resources to have a call center for phone, email or chat for all of the Mozilla products and projects.

  • String Strength Comparison

    Is there a good function or algorithm that matches two
    strings and gives a strength of match rating?
    For example, if I have the strings "The dog walked outside"
    and "The dog outside walked" it might return a 75% match? Pretty
    much like a simple search engine algorithm.

  • I would like to take the time to...

    I find it absolutely necessary to share this with you, the reader - the community!
    I would like to thank you, Firefox developers and all the rest, for: helping feed the poor in Africa; helping to end global terrorism; helping to keep children safe; helping to free women of the slavery that the patriarchy has caused; helping women to become independent and strong, and to become our future leaders and scientists; helping America; helping Europe; helping the world for a better tomorrow!
    God BLESS Firefox; God GIVE Firefox all the support it needs, financially and otherwise; God MAKE Firefox the best product out there!
    If it were not for Firefox, I would not be able to have my computer crash every time I start Firefox; I would not have my graphics card crash; I would not have Firefox send reports to whoever although I have clearly specified that it shouldn't do that; I wouldn't have to deal with constant Firefox crashes that take many minutes to recover from because the bug reporter runs in the background and sends information I don't want it to, to whoever I don't know, using up my vital resources and time.
    THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
    If it weren't for you, indeed, I wouldn't even be making these remarks as I am bashing my keyboard, hoping that the creator of this dysfunctional, horrible, poorly made software, suffers just as I.
    And you know what I think is amazing? Over TWO years - no, not one; not.. zero. TWO YEARS!--OVER two years and Firefox STILL crashes all the time, STILL does not perform properly, STILL is as terrible as it always has been.
    Oh Lord Jesus, strike these heathens and these heathen-supporters down. Cause them suffering, for as you said, "Do unto others as you would want them do unto you" - and I would want myself to suffer if I were such a horrible person as they are.

    Those problems have been reported in some iPads. Is the problem(s) in every one? Doesn't seem to be.  There just seems to be a few batches/shipments with issues.
    Has the problem been solved? Unknown.
    The heat and battery issues seem to be fixable with a software/firmware restore. the wif issue seems to be ongoing and presumably the subject of a later fix.
    Will you get one of these devices when you buy yours? flip a coin. No way to know until you get it.

  • Creating a bitmap copy of a TextFlow object without the caret [cursor]

    Hey all
    I'm currently working on creating a bitmap copy of a TextFlow object and I am looking at hiding the caret. What would be the best way forward, using the focusmanager to 'unfocus' the TextFlow object, or is there some more direct approach available? I know there is a cursormanager in Flex, but this is an AS3 only project.
    Cheers for your thoughts once again
    emd

    I think I've just done something similar to what you need (except I'm adjusting the width of the bitmap according to that of the text), and so far I have seen no cursor
    Here's the code. You'll need to adjust it depending on how many containers (Sprites) you are drawing the TextFlow to.

  • Sending chinese HTML with javamail - is there no definitive answer ?

    I'm using the following code to send a HTML and text e-mail
    (text for people with HTML-challenged email clients). I sent
    2 emails to 2 email addresses which reside on the same server
    - eg. [email protected] and [email protected] - and read the
    emails with the same e-mail client (Eudora) on the same PC.
    The HTML and Chinese displays perfectly when it's sent to one
    of the email addresses ([email protected]) but the HTML and
    Chinese are always corrupt when I send them to the other.
    This is a repeatable error and it has me completely stumped.
         // Example Initial values (drawn from a database) :
         String smtpHost = "mail.mydomain.com";
         String sender = "[email protected]";
         String subject = "Give me strength.... ";
         InternetAddress sender = new InternetAddress("[email protected]");
         InternetAddress receiver = new InternetAddress("[email protected]");
         String txtMsg = "a long text message blah...";
         String htmlMsg = "<h1>Wooo</h1><img src='http://mydomain.com/blink.gif'>";
         String language = "zh-tw" // can also be "en-us" or "zh-cn"
         // CREATE MAIL MESSAGE & HEADERS
         Properties props = System.getProperties();
         props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpHost);
         Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
         Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
         msg.setFrom(sender);
         msg.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, receiver);
         msg.setSubject(subject);
         msg.setSentDate(new Date());
         msg.setHeader("Mime-Version" , "1.0" );
         msg.setHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "quoted-printable");
         // MESSAGE BODY - TEXT & HTML
         MimeMultipart mimeAllContent = new MimeMultipart("alternative");
         MimeBodyPart mimeText = new MimeBodyPart();
         MimeBodyPart mimeHtml = new MimeBodyPart();
         mimeText.setText(textMsg);
         mimeText.setHeader("Mime-Version" , "1.0" );
         mimeText.setHeader("Content-Type" , "text/plain");
         mimeText.addHeader("Content-Type", "charset=UTF-8");
         if (!language.equals("")) {
              mimeText.setHeader("Content-Language", language);
         mimeText.setHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "quoted-printable");
         mimeHtml.setContent(htmlMsg, "text/html");
         mimeHtml.setHeader("Mime-Version" , "1.0" );
         mimeHtml.setHeader("Content-Type" , "text/html");
         mimeHtml.addHeader("Content-Type", "charset=UTF-8");
         if (!language.equals("")) {
              mimeHtml.setHeader("Content-Language", language);
         mimeHtml.setHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "quoted-printable");
         mimeAllContent.addBodyPart(mimeText);
         mimeAllContent.addBodyPart(mimeHtml);
         msg.setContent(mimeAllContent);
         msg.setHeader("Content-Type" , mimeAllContent.getContentType());
         // SEND THE MESSAGE
         msg.saveChanges();
         Transport.send(msg);
         return true;
    Let me repeat - Using the code below, a HTML & Text ("Alternative"
    MimeMultiPart) message is sent, and arrives at the recipient's
    mailbox. When it is sent to one user ([email protected]), it never
    renders properly. When it is sent to another ([email protected]), it's
    OK. The destination server, email client, PC are the same in both
    cases and the only variable is the recipient's email address.
    How can this be ?
    I think I've gone overboard by setting the Content-Transfer-Encoding
    for both the HTML and Text MimeParts as well as the actual Message.
    Could somebody please confirm which parts I should set the Content-
    -Language, Content-Transfer-Encoding and Content-Type b/c I'm
    going in circles at the moment.
    Thanks indeed, to anybody who has experience sending doublebyte
    with Javamail and can help me clear this up once and for all.
    I find it incredible that after 3 years, there is still no
    definitive answer to accomplishing this, and it remains an
    elusive black art.
    Regards,
    chas
    ps. The data being sent is in MySQL not that that matters at all.

    Try adding code to validate submitted email addresses before they go into your database.
    String emailAddress = (from where ever)
    if(emailAddress != null) emailAddress = emailAddress.trim();
    if(emailAddress == null) // skip this address
    // I also check for a list of illegal internet email address characters, as I think the email addresses allowed by Javamail are too lenient.

  • 'Filmstrip" transition background changed to aqua green and off white...how do I get it back to white? FCPX

    Editing a piece it was complete. We went back and omitted a word in the transistion 'filmstrip'. The background is now an off white yellow on "pand down fast' and the 'pan down slow' is a light blue or aqua. These are my selections I can't redo the transistion since my transistion backgrounds are now these colors. I rebooted and restarted....please apple gods give us back FCP7! I'm doing this in FCPX.
    thanks
    Lee

    You are not giving a lot of information and/or a bit of confusing terminology. What do you mean by "missong a word in a transition"? Transitions are no text. Maybe you meant a title? Or are you applying a transition to a title? What exactly has changed color? Why can't you delete the transition and add it again? Perhaps posting an image of your timeline and what you are seeing in the viewer will clarify and allow us to help effectively.

  • TS3991 Error: "There was a problem uploading this document" ... every time

    I would like to upload documents to iCloud. Every time I drag a doc in, with both Pages and WordDocs, it loads and then I receive the error message above. I try again, and I get the same message every time. Is there a way to fix this? I can't seem to find a solution through apple support.

    Ooops, Mountain Lion.  Started coming across stuff like http://www.macrumors.com/2012/02/16/os-x-mountain-lions-documents-in-the-cloud-s implifies-file-access-across-devices/ in my searches.  It also looks like Jobs tried to buy Dropbox at some point...
    I also ran into something about a "hidden" dropbox feature in lion - http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/11/02/hidden_drop_box_feature_in_mac_os_ x_lion_lets_you_sync_files_across_macs.html but - again, really?  A hidden feature, in an Apple product?  Give me strength.

  • Left brained and DAW / oil and water

    Hey Hey-
    Stuck my toes in the Cubase Ocean for a few years. Never went beyond what was obvious or came easy. Now I've landed in Logic. Boy, Garage Band was easy... albeit shallow. Gotta love those applications you can learn in a sitting or two. Or maybe you don't. Garage Band is the girl from the bar. Logic is my wife. So I must know...
    How have you learned Logic?
    These tools may not make us better musicians, or artists. They may, however, assist us in producing things. Or they may not...if we never master the use of these tools.
    I feel as though the manual, while complete, would work best if read from cover to cover, absorbed slowly and chronologically. Maybe it should be called ChronoLogic. Of course, there are quite a few pages, so I option for the pick and choose / google / kind people from forum method and hope that I can add at least one stone to the almighty music production foundation before nightfalls!
    Lately I've been trying to import patch scripts. I like to imagine that a seasoned veteran somewhere just muttered something about that possibly being tricky. That would give me strength for days. Meanwhile, truth is, someone is probably changing their patch scripts from an iphone this moment.
    I have not read the entire logic 8 manual. I've done the Getting Started and referenced bits and pieces of the user manual. Go to the user manual, page 880, and read about standard instruments. The last line reads:
    To create a standard instrument, do one of the following: Choose New > Instrument (or use the New Standard Instrument key command).
    Choose New....OK. From where? From the left brain? As in this is all I have left?
    I search but alas cannot find any obvious News. Just bad News. The closest thing, I think then, is the New under Track. But then I'm given three options, audio, software instrument, or external MIDI. Now...I'm probably not even in the right menu...and I'd know that if I read the manual from the beginning I bet...if I could still remember it by the time it became of personal interest to me...which I wouldn't. Is this literal or Logic?
    And why does the picture of the environment on pg. 881 not look like mine? Probably just a slightly different version? That kinda stuff throws me off.
    Do you study with a teacher?
    Are there splendid tutorials out there that bring you through all of this in a condensed mock project?
    Do you just need to read the manual from cover to cover...over and over? Ver Er R?
    On a serious note, I'd honestly be interested in hearing about how you learn these programs.
    Thanks!
    J

    ****, just found the environment window...and the New I need.

  • Mac/Win market share confirmation straight from the horse's mouth

    From a response by Photoshop Principal Program Manager John Nack to someone's post on his blog:
    "Last time I checked, Creative Suite sales were roughly 50/50 Mac/Win."
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2009/02/optional_plugin.html

    I was a Windows user for 15 years. I not only designed the computers to market, I was a Network Admin and consultant. Now I use a Mac.
    Funny. I see these stupid threads by the same few folks who can't help but push their macs. And the one or two who tote Windows.
    Both systems have their set of problems. But really, who cares what market shares are PC vs Mac with regards to Adobe. Big deal.
    Windows has so many more vendors and software programmers to deal with they finally had to coral it in with Vista, their first attempt. Signed drivers. Macs failed with clones. Life happens.
    The Mac in not superior and saying it is doesn't make you any more superior either but damn y'all sure seem to think so.
    What a joke.
    b You keep up the we versus them - mac vs ps all you want. It does not get anyone anywhere. Solving common issues that effect both side is much more valuable.
    Maybe it makes you feel good to spout your love for one or the other. But Adobe has pretty well tried to get their products to run the same no matter which OS you choose. Adobe seems to understand Macs aren't the only OS choice to run their products. They realize PCs make a huge part of the market. Quibble over 50 percent or 60 percent or what ever you want... the Macs just don't have to support the thousands of titles that PCs do.
    At least PCs know how to display web images with sRGB much better. In fact, amazing how a designer still needs to design for PCs ever more so than macs. Because of the sheer numbers of PCs versus Macs. I still read and hear all the time, you design for PCs first and foremost and then try to cross over to macs. Cross browser ring a bell guys. But I guess those here would find that as the PCs are trying to have a superior attitude. NO. They just realize the number of end users. But I guess the same 4-5 mac people here will still have something to say about that statement. How PC users feel their systems are the best or run Adobe products better and were ready for 64 bit first. Whooppiieeeeeee. God, what you guys stoop to for something to write about.
    Hey, sorry but I get so tired of these threads let's just call them out on it....

    What other enlightenment can you fill us with? Mac vs PC. God, give it a rest...
    Leopard was rushed out the door. So was Vista. Smart PC users may be still on XP, Mark because they didn't like Vista just like a lot of people don't like Leopard. WOW. Amazing. The consumer is the main beta tester now for just about any of it. Ramon, you on Leopard yet? CS4? Anything new and up to date?
    So where are with with Snow Leopard? The perfect OS? Who knows.
    And Ann. Bringing up the fact that our PC friendly guy here is not CS4, well... a lot of those with opinions of Macs aren't. Is Ramon? I know you stay up to date Ann but maybe our PC guys can read the other forums just fine and go from there. Like some do here. Hum....
    I just wanted to walk all over this thread. Say my rants and raves. Call people out on their superior attitude of crap. Go kneel to your John Nack and by all means, keep reading his blog and keep us posted. I doubt John want to really hear all of this either.
    This was a whole waste of space and so you know, let's see how long I can type and waste even more. Let's just keep talking and trashing everything I can and see if I can't kill this thread.
    Heck - maybe I should take a different tact and try to get it locked down and closed. May be I should try to get the moderators to do their job and stop this from going too far.
    Just the same old same old. The same usual suspects screaming the same old lines. Ramon, really - was this addressed to us who use macs in the mac forums or to PC users who also keep up with Macs and happen by?
    You know, even trying to kill this thread by ranting now isn't that much fun. Because I think every one but Ann and Ramon and Mark and Buko are tired of the MAC is better than PC routine. JJ, let them say what ever they want. You think anyone is really going to read it? Or read this?
    I stayed up too late tonight and have sleep deprivation. I doubt I will remember typing this. I will remember listing the same 4 names we can list all too often and the same people that opinionate the loudest here.
    b It is a shame though. If they would stay off these topics and stay with being helpful without having to cry superior this or sucky that... they would actually be great to keep around.
    But they just can't help themselves. They will be the first to fire off at you should you disagree with them. They are the one's who are always right and never wrong.
    Anyway, guess I did what I wanted... to try to blow steam, vent, release frustrations or what ever... and in all hopes - I hope I wrote long enough that this thread will just die and go away.
    Tell you what, let's copy and past the whole thing twice to really make one have to scroll down to post anything new...

    first apple sent me an ipad with dead pixel and misbehaving display and now they are sending me this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/schipplock/4880028188/sizes/l/in/photostream/
    Would you send it back?
    Dear god, give me any reason why I ever should consider buying apple hardware again if quality management is so bad...I mean I spotted it in two or perhaps three seconds after unboxing it.
    What makes me angry now is that this microsim card now doesn't fit into my old phone so when Apple wants to send me another iphone it takes ages (again!)...and I'm without a phone...great :!
    Apple oh Apple :/.

    I don't know if you can do it at an Apple store. But AT&T will let you order the iPhone 4 and still keep what you have until the new phone arrives.

  • Multiple OAM Files are not working on the layout, and  now they are cropping? Need Help fast...

    So an early thing since day one with muse has been when inserting HTML the preview is sometimes off, and even the container box is sometimes forced to be similar like a previously installed HTML bit. I figured this new site I am making at work could use some Adobe Edge Animate functions for rollovers and drop downs, and as I set this up I am getting errors the more OAM files I insert onto the page. The previews I was kind of already expecting to not work correctly, but no I am getting a situation where my OAM file will not display properly because of the containing box of the first Element I inserted. Here are some pictures explaining the issues...

    This is a huge part of our site, please hurry with a bug fix or please dear god give me some tips for this work around. I am searching everywhere and getting nothing

  • Itunes doesn't open...this one is tricky!

    Ok, here's the situation.
    I installed itunes from the cd that came with my video ipod.
    Ok, done deal. Right? Wrong. Then id wouldn't install. Some 0x80040707 error. Got that fixed with registry repair.
    Re-installed itunes. Went through this time.
    Tried to open it - - here's what happens NO MATTER WHAT I DO... "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
    I've tried looking on apple.com, did everything, nothing works. Still unable to open.
    I've even tried doing a system restore, defragmenting the HD, making sure there was no viruses, spyware, fixed the registry and exausted all my means. I am at the end.
    What should I do?
    windows xp with service pack two and NO updates are needed.
    Thanks for any help.

    neither?!
    Also, trust me, I've uninstalled, reinstalled like 7 or 48 times.
    It doesn't make cents.
    Itunes is in msconfig (startup) three times.
    So, I did a search for itunes and tried to remove everything associated with itunes. The computer wouldn't let me remove several things because it was a 'something' file.
    So, i've just tried it again and am so unlucky.
    Here's the thing... once it did work. I SWEAR. but the IPOD itself wasn't working so I tried removing it and reinstalling it. I think that's when it alllllll weeeeennnnnnnttttttttt downhill.
    I thank you for your reply and may God give you the ability to help me find my way through these trying times.
    Sincerely,
    AL

  • Problems  that  i think should b solved

    well i am a java lover or more of a java technology fan ,
    This ide is great and interesting since it is from the creators of the java technology .
    The problems are basically based on these issues they are
    1)Modelling
    I formally used jdeveloper .of course i still do beacuse of thier powerfull modelling feuture it gives the strength of visualising my software before actually writing code .Which is the standard process of software development . But when i switched to sun creator 2 there was no modelling feuture i had to create my modells with jdev and import the source files to sun creator that is really a headache for me because my tomcat is running,jdev and sun ide too that will be a lot of load for my Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop (I love her).
    2)Deployment
    Deploying to tomcat becomes an issue , one of the reasons why i left jdev was because thier adf tags was not compatible with tomcat and it gave me a lot of stress ,because most of my clients prefer tomcat , i never trusted it, because if there was a bug i wouldn't know how to tackle it basd on thier framework. But i really love the way jdev deploys you just create a deployment profile(which is the directory to your webserver) and right click on your project and deploy, i think it's cool.
    I always love java and will always do, but i think this sun studio creator is actually tha bomb especially with the lovely componenets but if these other feutures are added developers will run to the ide in thier millions i am even trying to convince my peers to start using the ide ,but because of this issues they prefer using jdev
    You can reply me at [email protected]
    make the subject reply from sun studio so i will know is from y'all, much Love to the world of JAVA

    How widely used it becomes depends on its reliability and the robustness of the JSF framework. Also, an app developed in SC would be hard to manage in another tool, unless that also supported JSF.
    Sun is playing catch up with .NET in terms of an IDE.
    Visual Studio is the best IDE ive ever seen, and the base class library shipped with it is huge, over 7k classes. Far more productive than anything else on the market (in my opinion).
    The funtionality offered by SC is effectively what is available in .NET, .... drag and drop web-app building, but not as good as .NET.
    Hopefully SUN will keep pushing the development of their IDE's and get us on an equal footing with MS developers.
