Going back an iOS version on iphone

I have a backup stored on my computer that I'd like to restore the iPhone to, but when I restore the iPhone it's trying to transfer iOS 8.3 Can I avoid that somehow?

What so you think "I have a backup stored on my computer that I'd like to restore the iPhone to" means? To me that sounds like he went into iTunes, clicked the little button that says "Back Up" which saves all the content on your phone. With that being said, I don't know if the OP is clicking "restore" and of course it would try to go to iOS 8.3 BUT there is also a button that says "Restore From Backup" which DOES NOT update the device. I will concede that the post could probably be taken either way but when someone says "I have a backup stored on my computer" I take that as someone who went and clicked "Backup" in iTunes to save all the content on their phone.
Maybe AKewlName will come back and clarify exactly what they were trying to accomplish. But if people like yourself Dan from Richmond should take more time to help people instead of using that time & energy to make cheeky comments, a lot more would be accomplished. I can't speak for everyone but this is the reason a lot of people quit or don't bother posting at all because its not worth the hassle to deal with people like yourself.

I downloaded ios 7 for my iPhone 4 yesterday and it's basically ruined my phone, the speed and performance of the phone is ridiculously slow, I find myself typing without knowing what I'm typing until it finally catches up... Is there any way of me going back to ios 6? Or just speeding up 7 on my phone? If there's no way then I don't know why Apple have made ios 7 compatible with iPhone 4's.

Try turning Background App Refresh off. Mine iPhone 4 immediately picked up speed when I turned that off. It's not as quick as 6.1.3 but very close and definitely usable.
iOS 4 turned my iPhone 3 into a brick and it took me quite a while debugging this iPhone 4 after installing iOS 6. Keep searching the discussion groups for possible answers. You might install an app like System Activity Monitor which will show you if one application or process is hogging processor time and thus slowing down the phone. You might have to google the process to find which app it is associated with, but this will give you a clue. There is an answer. You can't downgrade--at least not that I'm aware of--so keep working on finding the answer.

Saved file goes back to old version after crash

Hello everyone,
Has anybody had issues with Illustrator (5.5 or 6) with previously saved files crashing and going back to old versions? I've had it happen quite often. I start a new file, save it, close it. Next day or so I reopen, keep adding elements and saving in between. Next time, the same... Then it crashes and as I reopen the file it's back to day 1 or 2, rather than the latest times I've saved. Strangest thing ever!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. I was starting to wonder if it was just me having this issue. I'm saving to my work PC laptop (Lenovo), but has has this also on my Mac.
I've read about the network and external drives issue, but I've always avoided working anywhere else but my internal HDs. Not using graph tool but it's hard to narrow it down as I work on so many different projects at the same time.The latest file has been saved as something new and modified a couple of times (complex vector icons, but no shading/3D nor links). I do NOT have the "save compatible pdf"nor compression options enabled.
Other designers at work don't seem to have this issue, but they don't work with AI as often as myself, and mostly stick to the standard features.I would really like to figure this out as it's slowing me down and surely getting other people to wonder what I'm doing with my time (besides spending it here ).
Is it possible Adobe is unaware of this problem???

Does the Restore function roll back installed iOS version?

I am thinking of getting a iPod Touch 3rd Generation next week, it's a second hand buy, so I am interested in the exact functions of the Factory Reset option.
Currently, the device is a later iOS 5, but I can't say exactly which one. I'd like for it to stay that way, so I want to know if the Factory Reset option rolls back the iOS version to the version with which the device shipped, or it will simply wipe it?
I'm just interested in the wipe part of the factory reset, the iPod has been used by another person and I am sure they won't bother to remove anything. Plus the device is a bit sluggish, so I believe this might help speed it up. [tips for speeding up a iPod Touch 3rd Gen are welcomed too]

Restoring will install the latest version of iOS compatible with the iPod. For the 3rd generation, that would be iOS 5.1.1.

Try the addons site again in case it was a temporary problem, or if it's an SSL certificate problem, please indicate what the page says about the certificate.
You have a serif font for most of your Firefox UI. Can you let us know what font that is? Most likely it was selected in your Windows display settings (right-click Desktop, then Properties) and appears on many of your applications. It appears to be the same one for Menu text and Message Box text.

You don't. Downgrading of iOS is not supported by Apple. If you provide some information about your problems, then someone might be able to help, but you cannot go back to iOS7.

if they can apply the correct firmware update, to help resolve the
issue of upgrade; or if they have a way to put it as it was prior to

ITunes Reports Different iOS version than iPhone

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS v5.1.1, and the upgrade completed successfully. When I check the version on the iPhone, it reports version 5.1.1 (9B206). If I check the software update option on the iPhone, it reports that "Your software is up to date". However, everytime I connect the iPhone to iTunes, iTunes reports that only version 5.1 is installed and there is an update available for the phone.
iTunes version = 10.6.1, running on Mac OS X 10.7.3.
How do I fix iTunes to detect the correct version installed on the iPhone?

App updates through App store, and then goes back to previous version!

I bought Civilization V: Campaign Edition from the Mac App Store. An update for the game became available a few days ago and I clicked update.
The whole update was downloaded and installed succesfully. I launched the game and it showed the new version too.
But after a minute, the App Store shows the update option available again.
I tried updating again but the same thing happened. The update finished succesfuly, a minute later the App Store shows yet another update available with the same version number and everything. Googling about it I found that a lot of users have complained of the same issue. Aspyr Support (Civ V Support) said that the issue lies with the App Store and asked me to contact Apple. So here I am - there are no Apple Stores in my area.

I launched the game and it showed the new version too.
No need to redownload the update repeatedly.
Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store...
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) may fix the udpate issue.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3

Attempted to update iOS 6 to iphone 3GS. Install froze, turned phone off, now phone keeps turning on and off.

When I went to turn it on again, the apple logo showed up and then the phone kept going back and forth between a black screen and the apple logo. iPhones don't take baths too well. You can do what the other responder suggested and put it in rice for a few days, but this usually doesn't work too well. Here in the US Apple has an out of warranty replacement policy for situations like this. You might want to check on the policy in the UK, but I'm betting it's pretty much the same. Here in the US, they'll give us a replacement phone for the subsidized price we paid when new. For example, a 16GB iP4 costs $199 and we are tied to a two year contract with AT&T. So, when a phone goes for an unplanned swim, Apple will let us purchase a replacement phone for the same price. Good luck.......
