Going back to previously opened file

When going to "File" and "Open" in any application program in operating systems prior to Leopard, it would not only take you back to the folder you had just been to, but also highlight the last file you had opened. In Leopard, it only takes you back to the last folder and takes you to the top of the list. You then have to scroll down and find the last file you worked on so you can click on the next file to open it. I work with hundreds of photo images in PhotoShop and find it very time consuming to have to scroll down long lists of numbered files constantly having to remember the last image file number I worked on. I've tried looking for things to change in Preferences (both in the OS and the application) and views, etc. but haven't found anything. Any Ideas?

I think I know what you want to do and I don't know how to make that happen, but I can offer a couple of workarounds.
If you are merely opening the file to see what it is, use quicklook instead. Just select the file and hit the spacebar.
If you do want to open each one at a time, then open a Finder window with the files listed and drag each file to the icon of the app you want to open it in. The item you last opened will remain selected in the finder list.

  • 4.0 EA2 - Previously Open Files Not Opening on Start

Just started using 4.0 EA2 from 4.0 EA1.  Thanks!  Noticed is much faster than EA1!
I have noticed that previously opened files no longer are being opened when starting SQLDeveloper.  Prior to EA2, any files that were open when SQLDeveloper is closed were opened then next time SQLDeveloper started.  Is there a setting I am missing that governs this behavior?
    Thanks!

True but I think that the disk image mounter is not working so I'm not getting the option to drag anything anywhere. How do I repair the disk image mounter?
    Just tried after reading on a www forum;
    Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
Click on "Macintosh HD in the left column and then press the "Repair Disk Permissions button. I don't think this step was part of the solution to my problem.
    Delete the file called /System/Library/Extension.kextcache
    Delete the folder called /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernalcaches/
    Restart
But the deleted files just re apear after start up and the issue continues.
There is no issue with the hard drive, also just booted to Disk Utility again and done a volume repair, no problems there. Grrrrrrrrrrr

  • How do I stop lion from opening all previously opened files on restart?

How do I stop lion from opening all previously opened files on restart?  I want to wipe all open files, since that seems to be the most efficient way to close lots & lots of open files (that build up over the course of normal activities)

One way is to always quit all applications before you shut down.
An easy way to do this (although in my own experience it doesn't seem to always work perfectly) is to simply hit CMD + TAB + Q and hold down all three keys.
When you do that the computer will cycle through all open apps and close them. If there are any open files that haven't been saved, it won't close them. So you should save everything you want to save before you hit CMD + TAB + Q.

  • When opening more image files in CC they are floating at the back, behind current open files

When I'm working on an image or images (not docked) in PS CC on iMac OSX 10.9 Maverick, if I open a new file it does Not open at the front.  The newly opened file will open hidden/behind the currently open files yet if I got to the window drop down menu at the bottom it clearly shows the newly opened file is selected and thats the file I'm working on, even though its behind all the previously opened images and I can't see it fully .  Hard to explain but has anyone else found this issue?   Its strange and awkward when working at full speed.
    Any idea whats going on?

So in this screenshot I have 2 bed images open, then I open the office-2 image but it doesn't open on top of the bed images but behind, yet you can see from the layers & nav bar that its the office-2 image were working on.
This issue can cause problems when working fast with lots of images. previously I've accidentally closed files that weren't finished destroying history snapshots etc.

  • Problem in BDC while going back to previous screen in FB60

    Dear All,
I have a problem in BDC my BDc stops when it tries to go back to previous screen then manually i have to click on the back button then it gets posted. the previous screen recording for FB60 is
    SAPMSSY0     0120     X
    BDC_CURSOR     16/32
                                                                BDC_OKCODE     =&IC1
When we do back by clicking on the screen is not getting recorded. Kindly suggest a suitable Solution for the same.

FB60 is an EnjoySAP transaction and not well suited to batch input (look for notes). Better to use a BAPI or batch input on FB01.

  • App crashing when going back to previous view

I've got my app. which has several views. in my 3rd view, i have a list of questions with yes/no answers the answers to which I'm saving to a plist. it was working all good. but then i added a first view with a table which has 4 options, clicking on either of these rows go to the same view but each of them change the value of the variable in my singleton class, which then decides which questions are added to the 3rd view. so this helps me to jus have one view but the variable controls the different questions. Now my problem is that if i change something in my 3rd view, for eg, i choose yes/no , then when i am going back to the main viw , my app crashes. I am not sure why this happens. How does it work anyway-the inherent back button on the navigation bar? im guessing it calls the viewdidload function for the first/second view when going back to them from the first view, i dont undrstand why it crashes, coz the viewdidloads of these views seem okay to me.
    thanks

write the piece of code causing the crash or paste the output on the console to get to know what actually cause your application to be crashed.

  • After quitting a "private browsing" session, and I quit togo back to previously open tabs/pinned sites, 40% of the time, the Browser does not restore all previously open tabs/pinned apps/sites

Using HP Pavilion Dv7 with Windows Home Premium, 64bit, and only now and then will FF4.0.1 restore previous (normal) session after returning from a private browsing session, )I use the Quit Private Browsing menu item from the Toolbar right-click menu to go back).... In addition, previously Pinned sites (apps) are lost also, and all must be re-added.
Inconsistent failure and I've not been able to reliably reproduce-- sometimes (about 4-6 times in 10) it just loses all previous information.

I would add that bookmarks may be organised into folders and subfolders. You may wish to make more use of bookmarks if only to ensure you do not loose everything if your session restore becomes problematic.
Bookmarks are a bit more robust than the session restore system. Firefox backs them up automatically and you may do so manually. Possibly Firefox will behave better and faster with hundreds of bookmarks but only tens of tabs open. There is also the tabs groups, but that is something I think development has ceased on and may have similar issues to session restore / or open tabs.

  • Opening a recent file accumulates with previous opened files

If I save a file in PDF reader and then later return to it and it has accumulated with previous files. I presently try to open a file which is one page and it displays a 32 page document that I have to go through all of them to find the one I am looking for can anyone help me with this one ?

What do you mean? Reader does not combine your files... It's technically impossible for it to do so.

  • Going back to previous save point or that you didn't manually save?

    Hi,
Is there a way to go back to a previous save point in a session or one that you didn't actually save manually? Like maybe it saves automatically every now and then and you can revert to it if need be?
I'm thinking i seen something somewhere that logic's default for this type of thing is 10 points, although that could have been undo points i can't remember.
Reason being is that for some reason all of my ultrabeat, bass and synths have reverted to their default settings. I have no idea why. Turned it off at end of working on it last night and everything was fine, just turned it back on this morning and it's like that.
I do have another save point as a backup but it's very far removed from the current one but the settings haven't changed and it's all correct settings, so instead of reverting back is there a way to copy a whole project in its entirety over to another project? Tracks, settings, everything completely?
I really hope i can get back to a previous save point. Anyone help?

No matter, i've found it. Yes! I'm so pleased. You don't even know how much.
Why i didn't see that backup folder before i have no idea... must be going blind

  • TDMS List Contents returns groups for previously opened file

I get a directory listing of TDMS files, then loop through file by file, using TDMS List Contents to retreive the groups found in the particulare file.  I open each file, list its contents, and close it before opening and listing the next file.
If a file has no groups, TDMS List Contents returns the group list from the previous file.
How can I prevent this behavior?

Unfortunately, the original VIs were developed on a Classified system, so I can't include them here.  However, I've created similar VIs that demonstrate the equivalent problem.
Run the 'create files' VI to generate appropriate TDMS files, and the 'list contents' VI to demonstrate the issue.
Note that these VI's were created in LabVIEW 9 SP1 (Version 9.0.1 32-bit).
Thanks for taking a look it this!!

  • Help I just installed the latest update on my IPhone4 and now I can't open any of my stored podcasts. When I hit the podcast icon, the screen goes white for a second and the goes back to the opening page with all the icons. What happened?

Help! I just installed the latest update on my IPhone 4 and now I can't access my podcasts. When I hit the podcast I on, the screen goes blank for a second and then opens to the home screen with all my icons. What happened?

Try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • Going back to previous screen by clicking on back button in IE

    Hi All,
We have an webdynpro application where in there are many screens and the user can move from one screen to the other by click of buttons.
I have a requirement by which the end user should be able to come back to the previous screen by clicking on "Back" button of the Internet explorer rather than from clicking of button in the application.
Can we retrieve the event handler of the back action of IE.
Is this scenario possible. If yes,the please let me know the solution.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pradeep

    Hi PRADEEP !!!
What you are requesting might work in some applications, but it is generally not recommended to use the explorer back button to go back. Its better to use the WD UI Button to go back.
I hope this helps, if you need some thing else, please revert back, I'll be happy to help you.
    Cheers!!!
