Going from design to implementation

Background: I am a complete beginner to adobe Fireworks (or any adobe product for that matter). So please be patient with my possibly incorrect usage of adobe terms.
I have made a homepage in Fireworks and want to send the design to a web developer so he can implement it when he develops the page. I haven't sliced it or prepared it for web use in any way beyond just creating the design - I've just created different images in different layers to achive the desired layout. My developer doesn't use Fireworks, he uses Photoshop. I've saved the files in png-form.
My question: I am very busy doing other things and don’t really want to do spend more time on design related work. But I also want my webdeveloper to be able to start working with the design (buttons, symbols and other graphics etc) as fast and efficiently as possible. My problem is this: when my developer opens the files I sent him he sees them in one big layer. So when he wants to use the different design elements he has to work around this fact in some way, he can’t just grab a button and start working with it, for example. This obviously sucks. What can I or he do in order to prevent this idiotic detour? Preferably I just want a state of affairs where all the elements are directly usable in the web development process. What extra work need to be done in order to arrive to that state of affairs? And by whom, by me or my developer?

Just go to "File > Save As" and (1) select "Photoshop PSD (*.psd)" in the "save copy as:" dropdown (2) Click the "Options..." button and select "Maintain Fireworks Appearance" in the Settings dropdown. This will ensure that your designer gets a PSD that is exactly what you designed in Fireworks.

Changes to the code will be on the service side where in the Folders_g service calls need to be replaced with Framework Folders . Documentation for the FF services are :

Apart from that I don't think there should be any other major changes that need to be done to the code .

This is so trivial that it barely deserves the words "design" or "application".
You can use java.util.Scanner to get user input from the command line.
You can use String.getChars to convert a String into an array of characters.
You can use a loop to get all the characters individually.
You can use System.out.println to print data on its own line.

Management VLAN Design and Implementation

Greetings, friends. I'm having trouble getting a clear picture of how a management VLAN ought to look. I just installed a Catalyst 6509-E as my core switch, and as soon as they arrive I'm going to be replacing all of our other (HP) switches with Catalyst 3560X switches. I understand the reasoning behind segregating traffic, not using VLAN1, etc., but I've never actually implemented a management VLAN--I've always just accessed the switches via the IPs assigned to them where all the client traffic flows (not VLAN1, by the way).
Is "management VLAN" simply what we as humans call a VLAN we dedicate to management activities, or is there something official in these switches to designate a "management VLAN?"
Is it best practice to include SNMP, netflow, syslog, and NTP as "management" traffic?
There's a lot of documentation talking -about- management and management VLANs, but unless I'm blind or not looking hard enough I can't seem to find any implementation whitepapers or best practices whitepapers that demonstrate setting one up on a campus LAN. Are you able to point me in the right direction to find such documentation? Is it perhaps buried in a manual somewhere that isn't explicitly labeled "Management VLAN Design and Implementation" or somesuch?
What is the best practice for accessing the management VLAN? Inter-VLAN routing + ACLs? Multi-homed PCs or servers? Additional PCs to be used as access stations?

1. Yes, you may want to keep this traffic separate of the other traffic limiting device management access to just this vlan, as this prevents eavesdropping.
2. Indeed all other housekeeping goes via this VLAN altough you could limit it to the interactive or session traffic.
3. On a campus you could think of one big VLAN spanning the campus, one a multi-site environment or where you use L3 to go to you datacenters you probably need multiple management lan's. I've seen implementations where the management traffic was kept separate and even didn't use the routing protocol in use. The whole management lan was statically routed and would work even if OSPF or BGP was down.
4. I feel a situation where the people providing support are connected on the lan giving access to the devices is probably best. A dual homed pc is a good solution I think, other customer feel the management lan should be treated as a DMZ accessible via a firewall, but the hardcore customer insist on a second pc connected to the management lan.
Points to consider are as always,
Find the single point of failure. Any device, L2 L3 firewall that could cut off management from accessing a part of the network.
Find the right balance between security, costs, easy of access for the business your in.

Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
Expressway Core (Exp-C)
- Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
- Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
- Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
- If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
- The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
- For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
+ If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.

Does Designer support transfering logical design to implementation...and vise versa?
Does Designer support transfering logical design to implementation...and vise versa?
Is Oracle Designer a pure modeling tool doesn't support transferring logical design to implementation...and vise versa?
Or there's a way to pull existing oracle database table structure into Oracle Designer and shown as diagram? The database and designer are same version 9i.
And the other way around...to make the design of table structure from Designer model diagram becomes the real tables in database?

Designer supports transferring logical design to technical design to implementation and retrofitting implementation (an existing database structure) to technical design and retrofitting technical design to logcal design.
So the answer to all your questions is YES.

Generating forms from Designer... bug?

I'm trying to generate form from designer. The form has 1 data module with base table & one lookup table usages. One field from lookup table is displayable. When I set "Display type" property of this field "Text" disigner says: "CDI-21600: A running utility.. etc." BUT when I set "Display type" property of this field "PopList" - everything goes well! I don`t even need to restart designer. This is .log from designer

The CDI-21600 error message means that the generator is hitting an unhandled
exception, also known as a GPF (general protection fault). The CDI-21600 error
masks the underlying exception error. To see the real error do the following:
1. Go into the Registry Editor (REGEDIT).
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\oracle\des2_70
3. Set EXCEPT_HANDLING to 0 (by default it is 1).
Repeat the action that resulted in the error.
I have read this article and it seems that there is not such bug, but ... ?

OWB wont import new FKs from Designer

After importing a model from Designer and validating I found a couple of tables with FK constraints that had been defined with no columns. No problem there, went back into Designer and fixed them up.
Now though, for those tables, OWB will not acknowledge the existance of any foreign keys for them. Not even newly created ones!
I have tried many things including deleting the tables from OWB and reimporting new but they still show no foreign keys despite the fact that they are clearly defiined in Designer.
Any ideas?

OK, I figured out what's going on. Things are worse than I first thought.
I appears that whilst the tables are coming from a physical model, the relationships come from the logical model (perhaps via the "relationship" attribute of the foreign key constraints). That suggests that if you have created a physical model from scratch, or have changed the model generated from the logical model (as I have) then importing from Designer into OWB is not a suitable approach.
Looks like I will have to generate DDL from Designer, run it into the database and then reverse engineer from there into OWB.

Tools for converting from Designer 1.x to 6?

I am about to work for a client that would like to convert their data model from Oracle Designer version 1.3 to version 6. They, of course, have both logical and physical models defined in the tool. They do not use Designer to create triggers or stored procedures, but they do store business rules in the repository (I'm not sure where. . .). The business rules serve as documentation for business analysts.
Is Oracle Designer upwardly compatible from version 1? That is, will I be able to open the version 1 model with version 6 software? If not, are there tools that I might use to perform the transition?

For a technical migration from designer 1 to designer 6.0, there is extensive documentation in the 6.0 product how to do this. Your repostitory information will be available in designer 6 once you upgraded. If you used Headstart for designer 1.3.2, take a look at the Headstart migration issues for migration your template package (info can be found on OTN,(http://technet.oracle.com/products/headstart/)
. If you want to migrate your business logic, you might want to take a look at the CDM RuleFrame option (whitepapers available on the website), a powerfull way to model and implement business logic in the server (with transaction level validation, no more mutating table problems etc.)

Of course you can start over. New computer, new software, new beginning. But if you do that then you will have to start all over importing your images and making the adjustments that you have already done once. You said you have been creating catalogs (plural). If you have just one catalog, and have all your images inside of one main folder (you can have as many subfolders as you want) then switching to a new computer is simple. Put the catalog on the new computer, make sure your external hard drive has the same letter designation, install Lightroom, enter the serial number, and you should be good to go. It worked that way for me. But if you insist on starting over, just install Lightroom, enter your serial number, and go to work.
