Going from HTC Desire to iPhone 3GS
Hi, I am selling my Desire and purchasing a 3GS. I am 5 months into my 24 month Orange contract of 100 mins, 500mb of internet and unltd texts. Will I be able to put my contract orange sim straight into the iPhone, if so is it straight forward? And will it completely work, and will I keep the same conditions of the contract, for example my 500mb of internet.

after unlocking over the phone from ATT and resetting iphone 3gs I keep getting the same error message "could not activate phone" neither Apple Store Tech or ATT were able to fix this .
Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.

Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.

hi guys. if some1 could pls be kind enough to let me know how i can import all my contacts from htc desire (andrioid) to the iphone5. i have actually done quiet a few experiments but nothing seems to be working. it is really important..thanks guys, Zee!
Or just sync to google from your HTC and export to a vcf file. After that login to icloud.com and there you can import the vcf. And now you just have to setup the icloud on your iPhone.

I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. The mobile carrier signal as well as WIFI suddenly drops zero and are then restored automatically. Sometimes i cannot conenct to WIFI even standing infront of WIFI router. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.
Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
3. Do a soft and hard reset.
4. Reset network settings.
5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :) -

I know how important it is to have access to your contacts! I'm glad you have successfully backed up your contacts to Backup Assistant. Now, let's get these contacts moved over to your iPhone!
To start, we will remove VZ Contact Transfer from your iPhone 4. http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=39865
Next, let's power your phone off; then back on.
Once the phone is back on, be sure that Wifi is turned off. The VZ Contact Transfer application must be performed over the Verizon Wireless data network and not a WiFi network.

My brother-in-law was killed at work about 2 months ago. His wife has several voicemails from him on her iPhone 3GS is there any way to save those voicemails as a sound file? Preferably not using a handheld recorder. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could always send contact information as a V-Card

If unlocking is supported by the provider, to which the phone is locked to, the provider will pass on the info to Apple. This info will be sent to the iTunes database, and after a certain time, iTunes will inform you, that your phone has been unlocked.

The ony place I have been able to send and receive email since the launch of iCloud has been the icloud website. I wasn't able to send email from my iphone 3gs or apple mail at all until today, now it finally appears to let me send email but it never arrives to its destination.
I can send an email from the icloud website without issue, and email sent from my icloud account using my iphone 3gs and apple mail seems to send fine and without error but who knows where it goes.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

CharlesI figured out how to fix it... if anyone else has this problem, go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts > select the IMAP account > Advanced > Folders and for "Store Sent Messages in this Folder:" select "Sent Messages (Server)."

Pleased to make your acquaintance, having recently used your FCE4 editing workshop as a bible I'd like to thank you for making an understandable read! Re my comments: This was early days with the application and I have a lot of work to catch up on before I get to work with it properly. In a test I set it up using the 720p25 apple intermediate codec and it needed rendering. the phone uses 3gp to record. I haven't gone into any detail with it yet, still busy trying to migrate from windows mid project from adobe premiere before even attempting to provide any focus to my camera on my phone. I will report back when I get there if anyone is interested! -

How do I upload new songs in my new iTunes from my mac to my iphone 3gs WITHOUT deleting or replacing all the old songs? My old computer crashed and I have no way of accessing those old songs but I dont want to loose all 509 songs. some were burnt from CDs i no longer have some were purchased through iTunes etc...help please! i really like my old music and just want to update it.
By 'rebooted' do you mean that you only rebooted it, or that you reinstalled its software ?
If rebooted then aare the songs still on your computer, just not in iTunes - by default your iTunes library is stored under :
Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes
Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes
If it's there then File > Add To Library in iTunes should let you add it back.
If not then you should be able to copy iTunes purchases (including apps, films etc) back from your phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
For non-iTunes purchases (and for purchases if need be) there are some programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then add them to iTunes via File > Add To Library
If iTunes thinks that you are trying to sync the phone to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive -

I chose to sync manually because I didn't want my son's apps on my iPhone, but when I tried to sync my contacts and calendar from the iTouch to the iPhone, I get no contacts. You need to sync them from iTunes on your computer to your phone
In iTunes on your computer click on tones in left column and make sure your ringtones are there. Plug in your phone to computer with USB cable. Click on phone name I left column. Click on the tone tab on the right of iTunes screen and then select sync all tones and then click on apply or sync at the bottom right of iTunes screen
