Going from Ppro to external DVD recorder

I have a finished ppro cs5 project that I need to get on DVD.  I am having problems with Encore so I want to record the ppro project on a dvd using an external dvd recorder. I don't understand how to get the project from the computer to the external dvd recorder.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need the Encore forum for those problems... but a some ideas...
As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator... which fixes several "odd" problems

  • External DVD recorder compatibility with a mac book air

Is the imation slim external DVD recorder compatible with a mac book air

Mac is a special adapter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MTA4MzU1NDg).
But if you look closely at that picture, you will see a possible issue getting a VGA cable seated fully in the adapter.
You may want to try a Fry's or Microcenter or other "giant electonics retailer" to find other brand names.
Mine is a "Kanex" from Microcenter, which has a website.  Here is the link, and see hoe the cable *can* seat fully ... http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0314015

  • External DVD Recorder ll

I have external dvd recorder for telivision use. It has 4 pin to 6 pin firewire plug.
Can I make idvd movies on imac 500 and export to this DVD recorder?

I have a Philips DVDR75 which has firewire capabilities. I have recorded with this input from my video camera but have not tried it from one of my Macs.
I do not believe that there is any way to get iDVD to export to firewire. That doesn't make much sense in any case -- how would a menu hierarchy be streamed over live video?
Rather, you CAN stream individual videos to the firewire with Final Cut. iMovie may also have this capability, but I'm not an iMovie user so I do not know for sure.
Why not just give it a try?

  • I cant boot my dm3 from my samsung external dvd writer...

    Hi,
I want to get rid of the windows 7 which unfortunatelly came pre-installed on my hp dm3 (more specifically dm3-1070eo). I tried changing the boot sequency to boot first from an external dvd/cd, but it didnt work with my Samsung Slim External DVD Writer.
It first shows a line with the linux version, but them it displays a screen writen error and with a drawing that looks like a stack with some hexadecimal characters. After clicking enter, it restarts...
Any clue on that? If needed, I can take a picture of the screens and post here

    You don't need to reinstall.
You may need to boot into Single User Mode and enter some commands to get the NetInfo Database fixed.
Follow the suggestions Restoring the NetInfo DB and others.

And a good place to begin when a system refuses to cooperate is to reset or clear NVRAM. And to use your emergency backup boot drive.
Usually you select on Languages first, then, instead of going to Install -> go to the menu bar and try repairing the drive and permissions first.
And then if you must, install on another disk drive, not your main boot drive.

  • Any tips to connect IMac with Memorex external DVD recorder

Has anyone connected an external memorex DVD recorder (MRX-510LE) to an IMac using firewire or USB? Trying to burn CD's for Itunes and DVDs ...
does not recognize hardware...can't find drivers......
    thanks

    Hi ellejay,
    welcome to the discussions.
Try Patchburn - http://www.patchburn.de/ Works a treat with almost all "unsupported" burners.
You could also consider simply updating to a more recent version of Tiger, as support for additional external burners has been added in the later revisions.

  • External DVD recorder.

I have an iMac G4 Flat Panel, 800 mhz.
I utilize the entire iApplications - Photo, Tunes, Movie, etc.
I wish to burn my movie creations onto DVD but do not have an internal Superdrive. I had understood that one needed to have an internal DVD burner to utilize iDVD's burning feature.
Is this still true with the latest versions of iMovie/iDVD? Is it possible to use an external unit?
(I am too queasy to open the base unit myself, and admittedly too cheap to have it done in a shop.)
    Thanks for any help.

The latest iDVD will burn to external DVD drives, or to disk image files that you can burn with Disk Utility. Get one with FireWire.

  • Can someone just spell it out for me?  Going from FCP HD to DVD SD :-(

Hey folks. I hate to come here and ask a gargantuan number of questions, but this has been driving me out of my mind. I've tried asking specific question in hopes of simply finding one little problem that will fix my woes, but now it has come to this:
Can someone just spell it out for me?
How do I get my DVD going? I'll fill you in with all the knowlege I think you need.
I shot with Sony's HDR-FX1 and edited in Final Cut. That means I'm working with High defintion. The movie is set and solid, and runs One hour and twenty mintues. I'm trying to get it, the commentary track, the subtitle track, and a slew of video files (also shot in high def) onto one dvd. This goes beyond the 4.8 gig limit. Hence, i have a Dual layer burner, and have been burning onto DVD-R DL disks.
I've tried downgrading to SD format through steps from this website:
    http://www3.telus.net/bonsai/Step-by-Step.html
I do all the steps to all of my files, and then start putting them into my DVD STUDIO PRO project. I have a recorded commentary which I add in, and I have written all the subtitles. The disk is in SD mode, and everything fits onto the dual layer disk. I've tried literally a dozen different ways, and something keeps going wrong. Either the menus won't come up, and just the film will play upon inserting, or the subtitle stream doesn't pick up- problem after problem. So, now I ask: Can someone simply spell out to me what steps I need to take to get my HD film onto a Dual Layer SD disk?
I apologize for how general this question is and how many directions it can go, but I'm at a breaking point after four months of failures. Thank you very much.

    Hi man.
I don't really know which ways you've taken to put
the video into dvd studio, but since you're asking
for a step by step process, then here's what i do:
    - export the entire hour out of FCP to a qt file
    - take that QT file to compressor. the only audio you
really need is dolby 2.0. this would also reduce the
file size of video to make things fit in a single
    layer dvd
I have always found that the 'Dolby 2.0' and '5.1' AC3 settings in Compressor badly affect your audio mix...it collapses the soundstage, takes away a lot of depth and imaging, and smudges the frequency range, so I usually output a 16-bit 48kHz, which holds things together much more nicely when working with a stereo mix. Problem is, for a feature-length films, the resulting output from compressor makes it too big to fit on standard DVD-R's with the M2V picture file. My workaround was to actually take take the original exported FCP QT movie (which has a 48kHz aiff soundtrack to begin with), and only lay the audio part of it in the track timeline in DVD studio pro, then lay the compressed M2V video on top of it. They're both still in sync, unless you picked different in/out points in Compressor. When you 'build' your Video/Audio TS in 'advanced burn' it somehow makes it small enough to all fit onto a DVD, while still maintaining the audio quality of the AIFF, instead of the crappy-sounding 2.0 AC3. Then you just use Toast to burn your disc. The difference in sound quality is night and day. So basically I do the picture in Compressor, but let DVD Studio Pro prepare the audio in the Advanced Burn stage.
It will be very difficult to get a good-sounding AC3 (what they call 'dolby' 2.0 or the wierd 5.1 encoding they use) unless you mix/master/encode your soundtrack professionally like regular studio films do. Just encoding it in compressor straight out of FCP or ProTools isn't enough. You lose too much.

  • Copy Video From Sony VRD-MC3 DVD Recorder to Quicktime Pro

I burn short clips to DVD on my Sony VRD-MC3 burner. I then load it on my mac to convert over to quicktime pro so I can create clips and add to my movies. The DVD plays on my mac DVD player but I can't get it to open on my QT pro so I can convert to the necessary movie extensions. The Finder wont show any folders on the DVD. Can anyone help me with being able to load these files and then convert using quick time Pro?
    Thanks
    Skip

I found this info about the recorder in a Google search:
    Disk /dev/hdc: 250.0 GB, 250059350016 bytes
    Disk /dev/hdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 30401 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/hdc1 1 10 80000+ 83 Linux
    /dev/hdc2 10 20 80000+ 83 Linux
    /dev/hdc3 20 30402 244036536+ 83 Linux
Partitions 1 and 2 are ext2 filesystems storing the firmware files (locked up in a signed+encrypted cramfs image, so hacking will be hard). Partition 3 is encrypted xfs. Until someone cracks the encryption, no directory listing and no TS files (plus no guarantee that Sony is using TS files to store the content anyway). Breaking the encryption on any of this stuff may be tough since the manual acknowledges that they are using GNU Privacy Guard. On the other hand, since people have reported being able to update multiple units from the same Sony-provided USB flash drive, that would seem to indicate that the firmware isn't individually signed and encrypted for each unit, making it more significant if someone does manage to figure out the keys and signing scheme.
Sony does this kind of stuff all the time. It's similar to Macrovision protection on VHS tape recordings.
My guess is that the encryption is passed on to the DVD copy of the file which allows viewing but not any duplication or conversion.

  • Low audio when going from Xpress Pro to DVD SP

When I output from Avid Xpress Pro to DVD SP I get low audio on the final DVD.
I export my Xpress Pro sequences as QT References with the audio as an AIFF file. I was able to improve the audio a bit by going into APack and converting the AIFF to an AC3 file. Even after boosting all the audio in the sequence (back in Xpress Pro) 10DB it's still not great. Any ideas?

Mix your audio as hot as you can in the Avid...if you are using the -27 Dialogue Normalization setting, you are going to get the levles cut considerably. Use -31 (IIRC) instead...

  • Mails not going from SOST to external mail ids

    Hi all,
I have to send mails to external mail ids in workflow.
when my workflow triggers, mails are coming in SOST transaction.
But, when i try any mail to send further to its respective mail id, its giving the following error:-
" no route available from WF-BATCH to mail-id"
i tried sending mails manually as well as by using RSCONN01 also, but no results.
Our BASIS consultant has already done SCOT configuration. Please guide me what is the issue?
Is some configuration pending from Workflow side or BASIS side?
    Regards
    Navjot.

    Hello Navjot,
if you have some basis background you can check TCode SCOT there you can see if the mail connect for external mails is configured correctly. There shoud be at least a node for SMTP communication. If there is such node check that sending s not restricted to certain adresses. Furthermore you could check over the menu if the default domain is set properly.
    Kind Regards

  • [solved] Boot installer from hard disk, but install from external DVD.

    Hi!
I have an old notebook with broken cd-rom and without support to boot from USB disks (only "USB-FDD"). I want to install on this notebook Arch Linux! I bought an external DVD writer and I would like to only boot Arch linux, but install from external drive. How can I do it?

Yes. My laptop does not support booting from usb-cd and usb-hdd
But I installed Arch by grub4dos to boot from iso, connect external dvd and start installation. System successfully detected the dvd drive so I could install a new system!

  • Need Help with DVD recorder (HDMI) to record off DVR

I purchased a philips dvd recorder a few years ago and need  help in setting up to record my DVR program recordings. The philips user manual is not very helpful being I'm trying to set-up with just using HDMI cables.  I have a HDTV (Vizio) with a HDMI port; a DVD recorder with HDMI port and my Verizon set-top box have a HDMI port.  How do i get it all to work and be able to record/copy programs from DVR to my DVD recorder?   Do anyone have suggestions on how to set up wiring.  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First keep in mind that DVD is not an HD format, so you will not be able to record HD shows in HD; they will be in letterboxed 4:3.
The FiOS STB only has one HDMI (out) port. Therefore, you will need to use some other output from the STB to the DVD recorder. Component, or even composite/RCA, because it's not going to record in HD anyway to DVD, will work just fine. Then you want to set your DVD player to whatever input you used to connect from the STB; i.e. mine uses "Input 1" for my composite connection.
If you turn on your STB and DVD, this will record whatever the STB is outputting to a DVD if you press record on the DVD recorder. This includes all of the program menus and any other on-screen graphics on the STB, and this means you cannot change the channel if you are recording from your STB. You can shut your TV off, but you will not be able to watch another show while recording one to DVD.
Your DVD player might give you an HDCP message at first when the recording starts if it's getting an HD input, but that should go away after a few seconds, at least for my Panasonic DVD recorder with a composite connection.

  • JVC - DV/HDD/DVD recorder deck not capturing

When I capture it looks like it's working, then it doesn't even have a file. I have tried batch, clip and now captures, no luck.
Sometimes I get an unknown file error or an "unable to read the moview file just captured" error. I have tried the QT library reset, no luck. Of course Apple wants $200 for a support guy to tell me that they don't recognize this great deck.
Does anyone have any other experiences? Any advice? I have $1500 in the JVC RM-SDR049U deck. I have worn cameras out before and I don't want to use them anymore to run mini-dv tapes.

    A few thoughts:
    1) Is the deck turned on before you fire up FC?
    2) Is there a particular deck setting you need to have .. ie L1, F1 etc that tells it to recognize the firewire port you're using ... my JVC dual deck has to be set to F1 when using the front firewire port
    3) Does the deck have some kind of dubb function that would, say, allow you to dubb from the DV to DVD Recorder side ... is this set properly? In other words, your not going from DVD to DV
All of these function should be properly set before you fire up FC and the Capture window. Just a few things to consider; good luck
