Going to be without access to Lightroom for 15 days because of bad timing on Adobe's part

Hi, I've been a Lightroom user for a year or more and when the LR2 trial was released I jumped at the chance to run the trial, feeling safe that by the time the trial runs out I'll have the upgrade.
Only it turns out I won't. Over here (UK) the stores (read Amazon) won't have the boxed copies of LR2 until September 15, my trial runs out August 29!
Nice one Adobe!
(And no i'm not buying the download version from Adobe, it's way overpriced)

So, you're pissed at Adobe because a 3rd party distributor won't have stock before YOUR trial runs out? Right...and I'll bet you are still carrying a grudge over the Boston Tea Party too.

Let me guess. Is this the Jeff Schewe now giving us all the benefit of his vast (um) knowledge whilst wearing his 'User' hat, or could it be the Jeff Schewe that likes to pretend he has absolutely no knowledge of the inside working of Adobe, or could it even be the Jeff Schewe who is in fact now talking with his Adobe hat on but speaking with a fork tongue as usual. An expression that along with your scant knowledge of the Boston tea party you're probably well aware of.
As is often the case Jeff - when an opportunity is presented for you to baffle all us 'users' with your knowledge and allow you to strut around like a peacock on heat you jump in all smiley and friendly. However, when someone has a little moan about your 2nd family (or perhaps the first) your advice is more often than not less than helpful. This shouldn't come as a surprise to me really as in life I have often found that the biggest men also have by far the biggest mouths.

    For 2 days I have been getting the message "Firefox can't establish a conection to the server at ..." This happens with any web site and it's frustrating.
    Internet Explorer works on this computer but I don't like it at all.

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

    Yes, when you first turn the computer on, I'm not talking about iTunes. You can give different users of the computer their own personal profile, it means each user has their own independent settings almost as though they are on a completely different computer.
    In Windows 7 you need to go into control panel>user accounts>add or remove user accounts and set up an account with your own identity. From then on, when you switch the computer on there'll be two profiles to choose from, yours and your sons. If you go into your new profile and open iTunes it'll be like starting from scratch. You will be able to create a completely new iTunes account that'll be totally seperate from the old one. Unfortunately you'll have to add your music again.
    If you don't want to import all your CDs again you can copy them from the original profile on the computer to a flash drive and then copy them into the iTunes folder in your new profile.

    I opened my online banking site but could not sign in or sign out hence I closed the website and closed Firefox. For 3 days I could not open Firefox nor Explorer. During the 3 days I rebooted several times. On the forth day when I opened Firefox a screen opened saying Firefox was embarrassed etc. etc.. and that I could restore my online banking site which I did. I was able to sign in and sign out of the account and close the website. My question is when Firefox locks up like this, how can I see if a site is open in Firefox if I can't open Firefox?
    I am using Windows 7

    The 'Embarrassed' screen comes up when Firefox has not closed down correctly and is trying to restore the situation. This will not always succeed, and you may have to do a normal restart.

    You should always try to close Firefox by using

    If you are unable to sign in to a website sometimes it may be a Firefox problem, other times it may be an internet problem, or the site itself.

    I do not know why you could not open firefox for 3 days, presumably a problem with your computer. Note even if there is no internet Firefox itself should still open when required.
    If Windows Explorer is not running/working there was probably not much you could easily do with the computer. Or was your problem with Internet Explorer (The default Windows Browser) again possibly a symptom of a bigger problem.

    When you get an error message , it is useful to know exactly what the error message said...word for word, as this helps to determine what caused the error message.
    The links provided by Airmail offer very good advice on how to maintain a healthy Thunderbird.
    Compacting removes hidden 'marked as deleted' emails, thus freeing up space.

    Empty the Junk and Deleted folders.

    You have not mentioned if you have an IMAP gmail account.
    If you do, have you subscribed and synchronised the 'All Mail; folder ?
    'All Mail' is gmails Archive folder, so it keeps a record of every email. This means it will double the size of your Profile folder.
    It is advised that you do not subscribe to see this folder.
    To remove stored emails in the All Mail mbox file follow advise from this link...scroll down to the 'All Mail' section:

    Currently I'm outside of the US on vacation and when I attempted to order the t450s on sale (the standard + the student sale), I got the following message: "Unable to authorize your transaction. Please select another payment method to complete your order." I don't mind ordering the laptop as soon as I get back to the US in a couple of days, but the problem is the sale might end pretty soon.     Unfortunately, Apple does not yet allow merging of Apple ID's. if you were once using [email protected] as your Apple ID then there is no way to link that ID with the new one to avoid losing the previous data under that old ID. You will have to either go back to using the old ID to save the old data or just keep both, which you arfe allowed to do.

But I really can't wait 3 months at the moment cause haven't watched this film for ages. Please someone help me this is unfair this needs to be changed how could Apple be so harsh

  • Per Diem Calculations for Single Day and Multiple Days

    Hi Gurus
    I have just now confronted a weird calculation of Per Diems.
    I have configured Per Diems for 1 Day say $50 per Day, irrespective of the no.of hours.
    When I create a trip for a single day, the system is calculating $50 Per DIem for one day.
    Whereas, when I create a trip for 3 days, the system is calculating only for Two days i.e, $50x2=$100 and not $150 as expected, meaning the lfirst and seond day gets calculated and the last day is not getting calculated
    Please let me know where I am missing the little configuration in order to let the system calculate for multiple days correctly ?
    This is an urgent requirement please.....Need help.

    As I told you earlier that there could be serval options which needs to be checked again.
    For example:
    a)  V_T702N_D
    b) Your per diem table
    I think if you have checked 24 hours in V_T702N_D , then please verify the trip duration on PR05
    If it was working earlier then below might help you...
    For Example:
    Start date/time 23-July-2011 Time 00:00
    End date/time 25-July-2011 Time 00:00
    Here above number of days are three (23,24,25) but calculation for meals shall be done for two days, because for three days per diem calculation it shall be 48:01 Hours  above is 48 Hours..
    Please try in PR05 and check the results.
    Start date/time 23-July-2011 Time 00:00
    End date/time 25-July-2011 Time 00:01
    So please check again and let know in case of problem..

  • Book Recommendation for Fathers Day?

    I'm waiting for Illustrator CS4 Wow! to come out here in the UK as my next book purchase and I already have a couple of basic manual replacement books which I am steadily ploughing through.  I wonder if anyone could suggest a couple of titles I could give to my kids to distract them from the inevitible cheap aftershave alternative?
    I would like either a book that discusses more intermediate issues in Illy rather than the kind of very basic manual replacement books or if you're up for it, suggest a couple of illustration techniques that might be useful and help with my drawing.  I realised pretty quickly that a) Photoshop isn't good at taking your photos, b) Dreamweaver isn't that good at writing your code and c) Illustrator isn't up to drawing your drawings - Maybe a clickable "Inspiration Panel" should be a feature request?
    So either any recommendations for drawing techniques that would be useful for digital art and/or recommendations for interemediate level Illustrator techniques?

    Thanks for the suggestion but that's one of the books I already have
    and think it's one of the best Adobe Software help books I have out of
    all of them.  It's really well written and covers a lot of material in
    a practical way.  The other Illustrator book I have is by Deke
    McClelland which I find to be more like a reference manual than Mordy
    Golding's.

  • Access to Lightroom mobile for educational license holders

    I have Lightroom installed on my computer as part of : Creative Cloud for education  Device licensing
    I would really like to access Lightroom mobile but cannot see any way to do this under current licensing agreement without paying a monthly subscription for the Photographic Suite. It does seem extremely unfair that our University pays a high cost for licensing and then we have to pay again individually for a single component. Can you advise me of any alternative solution?

    There should be a Library button on the top left. If not ap the middle of the screen to get it to appear.
