Going To Buy A Mac??
Hello,
I am new to these forums, as well as the world of Macbooks. This semester, I am going to make the switch over to a Macbook Pro from PC and I was wondering if the 2.56 is worth the extra money? I definitely enjoy being able to have about 7 different tabs open in my browser while I am writing papers and reports. Of course, windows can be painful for this. Is there a large gap between the 13-Inch Macbook Pro 2.26 and 2.56? Is the 2.26 good enough for doing work and watching movies (painlessly)? I do like the occasional downloaded movie. Okay, a whole season of 24 here and there... What do you think?

Performance-wise, you won't see a lot of real world difference in performance between the two models, for what you want to do. You want to go with at least 4G of RAM though.

I am going to buy a mac mini i7 with 3 thunderbolt displays for forex trading. the question is if i use bootcamp and run windows on the mac mini will the displays still run the same way as if i was running it on Lion?
No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.

depends on whether or not you purchase the retna model or non retna model. I recommend the non retna model and installing an SSD yourself to save $$. Also, you can upgrade the ram after purchase in the non retna models, but not on the retna models.

The AppleCare extended plan is nearly global, and could be bought
nearly anywhere. Some users buy one in the USA, then travel to Japan.
In some cases, the place where you buy the plan is cheaper than where
you may be living afterward; so consider the national sales tax in Oz.
Depending on where you buy the computer in the States, the plan can be
added on and automatically enrolled at the same time. You could wait
and buy the plan in Australia; at whatever currency rate and tax added.

I am going to buy either a Mac Air or Mac Pro Retina 8GB RAM and 256GB. And as I have to still run Windows programs I will install Parallels 9. As the Mac are both 64bit machines does that mean I need to install Windows 7 64bit or just install 32 bit? (Going with Win7 as I hate Win8). And I will install Office Pro 2013 64 bit too or 32 bit or is that automatically selected by the underlying OS (I use Word, Excel and Access mainly for a membership database of a local club) ? I am not a power user so would appreciate advice on way to go

Ie my connection to the world is mac only and I use office pro only to ruin the club, newsletters, membership database etc. and of course anything I do there can drag/drop to the mac environ to email. I have a PC windows. I have Adobe Creative Suite 3. I am going to buy a new Mac computer and want to install my Adobe Creative Suite to this new computer. I realise that I need to upgrade to do this. Howmuch will it cost me. Also I want to know if I can jsut upgrade the photoshop/illustrator and premiere software as aI dopn't use the rest, would this be cehaper to do and possible to do? YOu are long past any upgrade cycles and need to buy a new CS6 license at full price or sign up for Creative Cloud.

Jack, you can order online from Apple. Their price right now for MS Office 2011 Mac Home/Student Edition is $150 US. They might put it on your computer but it is very easy to do it yourself.
You could also order rthe same MS Office for Mac online from another retailer. Ex.: OWC (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/software/)
& they have discounted right now for $110 US. I've gotten may products from them and they are easy to deal with & have good prices/products.
There are other retailers, of course, and sometimes I find good prices at the others as well.

I am going to buy a macbook pro for grade 12, and I need to know wheather I should get a macbook pro or a macbook pro retina. If someone could tell me (in a very simple way) which one is,better for me and why, I would be ever so apprreciative.
Why do you need a expensive MacBook Pro?
Your attending high school and unless everyone else is rich also your likely going to be a target by the more poorer students for theft or damage to the machine.
You could keep it home, but if you need it for class then your exposed again.
Also at that age your not very careful yet, a MacBook Pro is a expensive and easily damaged machine.
Unless your made of money and so are others at your school, I would recommned a low profile, just does the job cheap Windows PC.
If it dies, gets lost, stolen or damaged because of your inexperince handling senstivie electronics then it's no big deal.
You can buy a Mac later on when your sure you have a need for it, currently there isn't much advantage of owning a Mac compared to a PC, they do just about the same things now, one just looks prettier than the other.
Since 95% of the world uses Windows PC's your going to have to install Windows on the Mac in order to keep your skills up there or be unemployed, so it's a extra headache and expense.

If I buy a Mac and iPad online, will I still be able to claim warranty at an Apple Authorized Service Provider?
I am going to buy a Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display and iPad from www.topbuy.com.au . It's a legit website, but they say the items have topbuy warranties, not apple ones. They say I have to send off my faulty device to them, and they will fix it, but I don't want to do that. I just want to walk into an Apple store, tell them the problem and have a happy ending, like what's supposed to happen. Will I be able to do this?
ThanksApple warranty is good at any Apple service provider, AASP or store.
But you seem to be reaching far to defend that "it's a legit website", especially when they seem to be directing you from seeking certified Apple service.
As the saying goes: If it looks like a duck, and it sound like a duck, it's quackers to bypass an Apple store or Apple online to save a few $$. Well, something like that. -
i am going to buy a bigger hard drive. i am operating on Lion. how do i install my os on the new disk? i can't use time machine.
Plug this new drive as an external drive, boot from lion recovery "command-R" more info here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/
Open disk utility, format and partition the disk at your will (allways Mac OS plus...) and go ahead with the install, don't care if it tells you to whait thousands of hours, I did get installed in 2 hours and a half last week.
If you can't plug the disk as an external one, you'll have first to do an USB disk recovery utility, as easy as download the recovery utility and install it in an USB disk, you can find anything from the link above, plug the disk as a single master, and boot from the USB you created before.
